just for reference, supermarkets in some 3rd world locations like Gabon and Cambodia can be even more expensive than Serbia and their green markets even cheaper! That does not particularly explain Serbia of course, being so close to the middle of Europe, but monopolies do probably explain
That is because of transportation costs. It is cheaper for the said supermarket to transport goods to the UK than to Serbia, let alone the country further than that. On the other hand, even with those costs, some types of goods (or even brands) are still cheaper than in other Serbian supermarkets. Local green markets are usually the cheapest everywhere in the world.
There are huge differences between London & Belgrade especially because London is rich as a capital of a colonial power where Belgrade is a city that had to constantly defend itself as it’s been conquered quite a few times in its long history!

One of my best friends is South African living in Serbia. She is married here and doesn't plan to leave. Having her in my life taught me to see Serbia from a different perspective. She has made my life much better for the past eight years.
I am glad people are coming over. We need more awesome expats like Paul. ❤
You are welcome, bro! 🌻
We are really happy to have you in Serbia! ❤️
BTW, your humor od brilliant! 😂
I didn’t know that english people have such a great humor!
kakav fin covjek.
He said some things are backup by the state. You can only imagine how things were in Yugoslavia when they were really backup by the state. We had amazing country.
actually it's not. it was a criminal state and thank God it no longer exists.
F*** yugoslavia
Very good point.
Yugoslavia is shit
That's a very superficial view of Yugoslavia.
Vrlo dobro i na mestu odmerena pitanja. Lep video. 😊
Da, da imaju najbolji humor😂❤
Love and kisses Paul ❤. Kate here originally from Belgrade living in London for 33 now. Will visit ur shop can't wait when am back❤😊
Super je sadržaj, samo nastavi!
Just leaving comment to support the channel. I love your guests. Emotional intelligence is lost art, these days, so, good job
You ask very good questions. You’re an awesome interviewer. Good job! 👍🏼
Awesome quality and production, nice and informative interviews, keep it up man!
just for reference, supermarkets in some 3rd world locations like Gabon and Cambodia can be even more expensive than Serbia and their green markets even cheaper!
@@frdz4188it's because they want 3rd world countries to continue with struggling
Very cool chap! Some would say he's a real English gent.
There are huge differences between London & Belgrade especially because London is rich as a capital of a colonial power where Belgrade is a city that had to constantly defend itself as it’s been conquered quite a few times in its long history!
..and those two "facts" are most irrelevant in the context of this story. Sorry
It's a city that tried to become what London became! Under different circumstances it could have become the centre of the Balkans...
@@littleleonida1058but it is the centre of balkans (after athens)
@@BojanSimic-k6x .....yet I've never been there, and I'm from the Balkans,. funny that!
@@dn8598 haha yeah," so Paul, how do you see differenced between Belgrade and London? - Weeelll, you see as Belgrade has been conquered quite a few times in its long history i see Belgrade night life so much better, and people more warm and wellcoming. Londoners are uptight, and will judge you. Because, you know, colonial history! "
He hit the nail in the head when saying how quickly he made friends in Bg. It certainly is the most friendly place. I had best time of my life there. It is quite a safe place too.
Night life in Bg is something special.
Pozdrav iz Bosne
Fantastic video and very good interview questions, I look forward to visiting Serbia myself next year. I wish you a lot of success with your channel.
What a lovely person! In Serbia, there are so many people who love complaining about everything. They should learn from people like this guy about positivity and appreciating little things in life.
You would be complaining, too, if your paycheck is €500 and prices of food are almost as in EU where people make 10 times more on average.
@@milosb9979 If you really believe that people in the EU make 10 times more than 500 euros per month on average, you have no idea what you're talking about. Btw, my property tax, income tax and many other business- and household-related expenses are much, much higher than what my Serbian friends pay.
Just please don't talk about things you don't know
@@am3273 yup he tlaks shit, but much of eu lives far bettter andthere are host of people who left serbia and will not return.this isnt exlusive to serbia.
@@himpim642 I understand why they leave. My parents also left. I am Serbian diaspora and I'm thinking about moving to Serbia.
The problem with being diaspora is that you end up feeling like a foreigner in both countries.
What I actually wanted to say is that the wisest and hardest descision would be to stay and improve your country and not look elsewhere for better career opportunities.
Think about what it means to trade your country, culture, language, mentality, spirit for money.
My suggestion would be to use the Internet to improve your financial situation and learn about long term investing. Having a small long term investment account makes wonders over the years.
Amazing video, love Serbia 🇷🇸♥️
Great channel. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to the next video.
Great content man, I hope for our brothers first (Russians) will come here and after that more foreigners and live in Serbia. We need more videos like this !
Mrsss jebali te Rusi
Of course you can find black tea. Just don't go buying them in filter bags, but buy just the tea, and then use a strainer.
Home is where your heart is.
Well, I keep telling family and friends from Serbia that prices in supermarkets are more expensive here than in the UK, and they don't believe me. Well thanks for saying this, finally I have confirmation.
You should try to sell english tea in your shop, I would buy
Such a positive and joyful person!
Paul is a great guy! I meet him when he just moved to Belgrade. Great personality, super positive guy, always smiling :)
This was great, thanks for making it! We love Belgrade, come for holidays with my kids from London. And they love it too. Has a good vibe. Simple and less complicated. Food's insanely good.
Crime in BG is not on the streets but in the government. But it is nice to see someone idealizing the new country and seeing the good parts. All of us people should move around more often and see the good in other countries and people

in britania the crime is on the streets and in the government who give housing, money, citizenship etc to illegal immigrants and they cant even remove them from the country once they have done crimes there
Oduševljen sam kvalitetom tvog rada. Želim ti mnogo novih pratilaca.
This is so inspiring. So happy to see that he has found a new home in a wonderful city. Every time I go to Belgrade, I love it and I never want to leave.
Great interview. Just Subsribed 👍👍
You are welcome brother!
I met Paul at his record shop, lovely guy!
great video. interesting to see MC5 and Blondie records in his store,,,, BTW I never heard of the record he recommended. Cheers from Sydney :)
Hvala vam!
This brought a smile on my face. You are welcome and we are happy to have you here man. I do not like GB and I had only bad experiences with people from there but that means nothing because you can judge a man just one by one, does not matter what their background, religion, race is, everyone is either a good human or a bad human and they is it.
So many lovely messages from this interesting man! Thank you, Paul!
I go to the store very often Paul is a grate guy, love that lil place has a soul, and he is right about many things, but we also have many problems. Anyway hope he stays here and thrive. PS. we need more electro in the shop...
come to Canada where a regular sandwich at any shop is 10-14 cad dollars. Burgers and fries combo 15 dollars, pizza 20 dollars. Food is so expensive.
Come to London UK for a £8 beer, £5 croissant in the bakery that is worse tasting than the £0.80 one from Lidl 😅

Wow,no wonder people going Expat.
Love the content! Keep it up! And I'll pick up a record next time I'm around haha
Thank you for an amazing video 👍
Nice story! All the best and keep up the good work!
Serbia is the only country I visited as many as 4 times. That's how much I love this place. I did, however, notice a huge increase in prices since last time I came in 2021. Inflation is a worldwide phenomenon these days, but Serbia was amongst the hardest hit countries unfortunately. It's definitely not cheap anymore. But, I'll keep coming anyway :)
Where is his shop, I want to bring him cheddar cheese when we come this summer 😊
I agree with Paul 100%, I'm an belgrader by birth that lives in London past 25 years. I left Serbia and Belgrade because I was annoyed by so many things, but London is worse. Sucks your soul out.
Planning my return to Serbia soon 🥰
Great interview!
Oh please tell me how you import black tea into Serbia. I'm Australian and my Serbian husband took me to Belgrade for a few weeks once and I was searching and searching for some black tea and didn't quite find anything either. If we move to Belgrade one day, which we will if there is an opportunity, I will definitely feel like the English when they miss their cup of tea, even though the food is SO much better in Serbia than it is in Australia. I think tea is probably the only thing I will miss.
Two amazing guys! :D
Thank you for a kind words!
The more I travel, the more I love Serbia. And, yes, Paul, we are happy to have You here.
Loved listening to this 💕
very nice, cheerful and young spirit guy, his energy is younger than some 25 olds, and i really like his accent. glad he likes it so much in our country, and his so much more joyful person than how i imagined englishmen.
