You think so, because you never lived there on serbian salary and you haven't experienced to have need for court/legal protection. Then you'd really see what Serbia is like.
The first story about how the Serbian guy first started to tell him about how his country bombed Serbia and after that bought him a whole dinner with a “Welcome to Serbia”. That is exactly the Serbia that they don’t show you in the media. They are only trying to make Serbia look bad to the world, but actually I never experienced any bad situation in Serbia (in terms of racism or hate towards other people).
Whenever I needed help in intolerant Serbia of some sort I received it. Whenever I needed help in tolerant Canada I didn't get it...interesting how it works.
Excellent guest! Great story! Thanks, guys! I just wanted to add that "jebi ga" is usually used in a negative context (Jebi ga! Zaboravio sam da kupim sladoled. F... it! I forgot to buy ice cream.) The expression "jeb'o te" (literally: It f....ed you) is extremely common both in positive and in negative contexts (Jeb'o te, kakav gol! F..., what a goal! or Jeb'o te! Kako si zaboravio da kupis sladoled? F...! How did you forget to buy ice cream?).
But it´s also used a lot in positive way. For example "Jesi dig´o onu malu sinoc u klubu? Jebiga druze, znas me." "Did you picked up that shorty last night in the club? F*** it my friend, you know me." or "Kako si to uspio? Jebiga, ko zna, zna." How did you manage to do this? F*** it, who knows, knows." While jeb´o te is used, not always, but mostly when you´re in disbelief in something. For example, to continue the club story, "Jeb´o te, pa kako si to uspeo?" "F***, how did you do that."
@@NeverNotHoopin Those are good examples. Another one that comes to mind would be: "Jebi ga, ima se moze se". But I still have the impression that the examples of the usage of "jebi ga" in a positive context are more limited compared to the negative ones. Perhaps it's just my own experience. When it comes to, "jeb'o te", I agree that it's often used to express either positive or negative surprise.
So true abot russian/spanish child. I am Serbian and for time spent in the US have noticed that our mentality was a lot like those of Latinos. Russians and westerners are more distant, cold and uptight, while Latinos are friendy and spontaneous, like many of us are.
Serbian spontaneous? Let me put i t this way😂 thats not exactly the impression i have of Serbs and i am Serb myself but from Diaspora. But maybe its because i am a woman and Serbian women are easily insecure and triggered if they see a good looking woman😅. Period. Nothing positivity , i experienced only negativity.
South Slavs have adopted many Latin aspects of culture after many generations of trading, intermingling and living aside Byzantium (the Latin world). Which is incredibly unique considering they’re racially Slavic but don’t resemble East and West Slavs culturally

At least in Belgrade, I don't know for other cities. With that money, you can have good start living in Serbia, live good life, save some monay, pay private medical insurance, car insurance, rent.. and even you can find job in English private schools, make your Serbian papers..etc.. etc.. Of course, could be some problems, like enywhere else. Only think you need is a couple thousand $ to start and good will. Welcome to Serbia.
My company sells wooden floors here in Serbia, I can tell you that recently there have been much Serbian/Foreigner couples who decided to come back to Serbia to live here.
My man nailed every point . I’m glad you found a new life brother
F...! How did you forget to buy ice cream?).
haha! thank you for the clarification😁
F*** it, who knows, knows."
While jeb´o te is used, not always, but mostly when you´re in disbelief in something.
Greetings from Slovakia...😅
Very well said : Russia + Spain had a (love) child :D
Jugo-sloveni - south slavs - slaviti = to party :) => Southern Party People
Super honest cool guy, this is a perfect fit for him there.
👌
Switch Spain for Turkey and then it makes sense
Serbia is nowhere to be compared to Spain
This brother tripping...
@@ivonacindric6417 bunch of bs, Serbs do share some aspects of mentality with Turks but far more with Spannish people. Some research showed that we are most similar to Argentinians in terms of mentality.
This man is amazing how fast he is coping around here. Im proud so many sane and normal people actually come here, and I dont know why so many individuals just appear out nowhere to live here. We as community are aware and apriciate this people, thats how coulutlar enrichmet actually looks like.
What a legend,I'm glad you found peace in our country, God bless you Бог те благословио.
You're great my friend, you've almost taken on the Serbian mentality, just POLAKO 🙂

Awesome interview, and a very nice guy. Wish him all the best and Serbia sounds like an appealing place to live hearing his story:)

Serb mentions that the usa bombed him. Then buys you dinner. That type of class you cannot buy. Will definitely be going to Serbia.
Great video! Your content is very interesting and I love it
You have also Cvarkijada it held around October in Valjevo. :)
Just amazing Man.
Raleigh - I agree with all you observations. Btw. When it was Yugoslavia it was 10 times safer than Serbia is now. (applies to all other ex-Yu states)
In Croatia it is much safer since mid 1990's but also safer than during SFRJ, I believe same applies to Slovenia.

Interesting to see how foreigners feel and see Serbia and Serbians. I would say, all with accurate assessment.
Sending you love, and I hope that you enjoy your life in Belgrade.

I am Serbian and i live in Canada. Not much different from our neighbours USA. I am really impressed
how people from different countries notice even small things that we Serbs say or do, and I already forgot them being here in Canada for a long time, and they remind me of them and then i laugh. This fellow is so suitable for Serbia as an American it's amazing. Even i as a native I have some shocks and get irritated when visit. I really admire you for being able to live there . Serbs are nice people but the system in the country is not easy to live in. Sretno.
Систем једноумља и све преко везе је накарадан и једва чекам да се том стане украј. На селу је лакше, али чим морам нешто у државну институцију слоши ми се.
Nice interview, I like how straight to the point Raleigh is.
Now how about you do an interview with yourself? :)
Cute ....My husband Is italian and we live happily Life for 14 years and our son that Is 13 😉...

Good for you bro … I lived in Belgrade. 30 years ago. Good people
Funny I was in Mostar drinking coffee on a trip when that accident with your friend happened. My wife got so shocked, but when I saw they got him out of water so fast I knew he was ok. Paid our coffee and went away.
Quality of life my friend.......yes yes and a lot of čevapi i luka and you will be healthy
I really like these videos and you ask great questions. Would be really interesting to do 2nd round of these expanding views with in this case american snajka and other significant other persons. Or like his parents or friends if it is possible.
That was so interesting and a nice American! Great attitude, I also liked Serbia

My husband moved to Canada from Serbia after we got married. He doesn't have any family here, but we have been in serious talks to leave Canada and move there. I believe I would be able to find work as I am a massage therapist, and we already have property in čačak. The only thing stopping me is leaving my parents as they are in their 70s.
Take them with you. by the time they will fall in love with simplicity of living..Don't worry .

As natural speaker, you can work as teacher, teaching students English language one to one and make easly around 20 $/€ per hour, cash. Maybe even more.
There are also many couples who decide to move back before their children starts going to school in western countries.
Here, we earn to live, we dont live to earn. That is the main difference.
And here you can walk alone at ANY neighbourhood at ANY time you want.
It actually starts getting more crowdy everywhere as the night approaches.
Love your videos man, keep it up! It's really interesting to see foreigner views of our country.
he's such a cool guy
It is too late to say welcome to Serbia but WELCOME!!! Very honestly speak, wish you a very healthy and long life here in Serbia , if you decide to travel and know us even better I invite you to stay at my place in my small home town Apatin to try beer older then USA, riblji paprikas (fish paprikash), domeetic rakija and enjoy in the nature, nature activities, fishing, watersports all in the national reserve Gornje Podunavlje.

More and more people will come from Western Europe and Northern America to live in ex Yugoaslavian countries. Life is cheaper and there is no stress.
True dat, but that just raises prices and standard of living in Serbia for serbs who already live on poor salaries. And where do you think Serbian people should go live, with more and more foreigners moving to live in Serbia.
Love the videos keep them coming
Thats really interesting to me that you tried to learn czech/slovak , I was born in serbia and my family are slovaks from a slovak area in northwest serbia. I speak slovak as a first language. I live in canada though, I hope you have a welcoming time in serbia , I completely understand the grammar about the endijgs of words. It just comes so naturally to me , but my serbian is quite , rough. I as we moved early in my life picked up from just conversation of my families friends , I predominantly speak slovak, my serbian is probably as good as yours to be honest. The best way is to keep engaging in social conversation. I hope you have no really bad experiences I am starting to really miss the balkans now!
