I loved this fight so much in 4U I learned every move Shagaru had and how to evade it. This is why he's one of my favorite elders.

I still play MH4U simply because there wasn't a single worthy MH past that
MH4U was a bit terrifying when we think to it. This gold dragon had me braking some tables by the way.

You know what, now that I think about it, Sunbreaks Shagaru doesnt have that one frenzy ball that acts like a delayed turret with a black line telling you the direction the 3 frenzy balls are coming from (Arrcy gets hit by it at like 1:20). I love that attack, its really unique, wonder why they got rid of it.
Thats bit annoying attack but make it more challenging, I dunno new gen MH but Ive seen shagaru in SB looks harder
@ararira he kinda is tougher I think? I've only fought him once in sunbreak so im not completely sure. I still haven't played any of the title updates in that game and probably never will.

I'm halfway convinced they buffed healing items and usages so much in later titles because of this guy and Gogmazios.
1v1's in older MonHun games were a little more tacitcal because of the terrain being an equal part of the hunt, but Shagaru is extremely aggressive and only fought in a flat plain, and Gogmazios similarly has a pretty neutral battlefield to fight in.
Even the special Hunts in that arena with monsters like Silver Rathalos and Molten Tigrex had pillars and jumps to help mitagate aggression, but these guys just always keep up the pressure with basically no remorse.
If new Monster design was gonna get more fierce and violent, the old item usage mechanics definitely could not stay.

Lance tip: in MH4U, if you overshoot while doing the dash attack, press _backwards_ and X to stop, spin 180 degrees and do the wide sweep (and optionally combo into your basic attacks). Also, you can counter-thrust (R+A) most monster roars.

I'm also new to MH4U and beat shagaru with a great sword and atk up xl. On my first try I had no potions left and my health was down to a sliver thinking I'd for sure will have to retry but one little hit finished him off. One of the most epic fights I've experienced with this game so far. Now if only I had the time to continue through hard rank...

I feel like they utterly ruined Shagarus theme in Sunbreak. Like, there's this one point in it that really hits the sweet spot and they changed it to remove tension.
Next time, try fighting it with Sword n Shield with Dragon element(very weak to it)
