Leviathans also fall into the wyvern classification, being referred to as "Sea Wyverns" (as opposed to piscine wyverns which are known as fish wyverns). Gore magala's ??? classification isn't because it's of a different lineage to Shagaru (however that works), but it's purely because you can capture it.
Gore magala and shagaru magala seem very intelligent even among elders. Especially the latter that cutscene in sunbreak had it purposefully use one monster to beat up another like using a tool. It also stares you down in 4u and shows off right after.
Another detail of Chaotic Gore's ultimate in Sunbreak is that remaining in the blast zone before the explosion rapidly fills up the frenzy bar, almost guaranteeing you fail the frenzy bar.
My first time facing these guys was in sunbreak, but i recently fought gore and shagaru in generations ultimate. I have a great appreciation for chaotic gore magala.
I’ll never forget 4U’s caravan quests and Shagaru Magala’s campaign. Truly made me feel after finishing it that MH4’s base campaign was and still is one of the best gaming experiences ever.
Little correction - It's an affinity (critical hit rate) bonus that you get from overcoming the Frenzy. This distinction is incredibly important in Sunbreak, when you can get the Bloodlust skill. With it, it becomes possible to get close to, or even reach 100% affinity even with a 0% affinity weapon by overcoming the Frenzy induced by this skill. One of the most common ways to do this is with a Light Bowgun that has Pierce 2 ammunition of Rapid Fire, such as Malzeno's. With Critical Eye 7 (+40% affinity), Maximum Might 2 (+20% affinity while you have full stamina), the Daora Soul Jewel 3 (+5% affinity on first hit, +15% after 4-5 hits) and Bloodlust 1 (+20% affinity for 1 minute after overcoming the Frenzy), you can get to 95% affinity after overcoming the Frenzy as long as you keep shooting and hitting. Adding another point of Maximum Might or Bloodlust will put you over the 100% mark.
one thing you didn't mention is the sound design for them for sunbreak. In 4U, prior to entering his frenzy state Gore would emit a gutteral roar to let you know he was about to let loose, an then he would emit a high pitched screech when he actually did go frenzy,in sunbreak he lets out the gutteral roar as he goes frenzy, which i think is a nice touch. Shagaru got a nice touch up but it wasnt really changed much, when he goes frenzy he lets out a metalic squeal, although he lost the one roar he does when he takes to the skies and enters frenzy mode. My favorite has to be chaotic in sunbreak, his initial roar has a mix of Gore and Shagaru, plus he has this awful wheezing sound, really sells that hes in alot of pain, my favorite detail however is whenever he enters is 2nd frenzy state, where he makes gores roar and shagarus squeal. Overall i think the magalas sound the best they ever have in sunbreak.
@@drxavier1870 It's definitely going to be interesting, Sunbreak doesn't rely on big guaranteed OHKO's or DPS checks. The harder monsters instead just cover wide areas with their attacks, move extremely fast and track you. The New Malzeno, if he is harder than Risen Shagaru, will be insane.

MH4U is my favorite MH game, with the Magala family being a big reason for this. Their appearance (I could be mistaken, but they are the first dragons with four forward arms, the wing arms being huge and with opposable thumbs). Their presence in the story, the Frenzy/Apex mechanic being caused by the Magala (as well as being the first enhanced states in a MH game and still the best), this was the first time a flagship monster had such a big influence in a MH game. My first actual fight against Gore Magala, I thought it was going to be easy, having fought him twice already before on the ship and to rescue the Ace Hunters. Then, his wing arms and feelers came out, the sky darkened, and I got destroyed. The Frenzy Mode was so intimidating I turtled the whole fight and I almost timed out. The random explosions of lv140 Shagaru Magala are still very questionable, however (they will periodically track you for the equivalent of one Mega Potion in damage). G-rank Gore Magala armor was also a very powerful armor, and an awesome one against Frenzy/Apex/Magala monsters.
