First Class was originally intended to be "X-Men Origins: Magneto". I guess they didn't think people would be interested in a whole movie just about young Magneto but if this was going to be the vibe throughout then I think it would've been a great movie, much as I enjoyed First Class.

Villa Gesell has no mountains and the Spanish in Argentina is completely different, e.g., the word "cabrón" has no use in Argentina. Nice scene though.
This scene proves to me Fassbender has what it takes to be James Bond. The style, the swagger, the suaveness. But most importantly? The cold-hearted methodology to killing.
Super Super Hero punisher is brutal, I'm talking sadistic serial killer brutal like Hannibal lecter without the cannibalism. Way more brutal than magneto. Wolverine is supposed to be as brutal as punisher but we don't get to see that on film
In both Spanish AND German! You can tell Magneto is even speaking European Spanish. In contrast, Kevin Bacon's German was sadly atrocious in this film. Points for trying, since German can be very difficult to pronounce like a native speaker, but could have used a few more weeks with a dialect coach.
Why the hell he said "I'm Frankenstein's monster" in English for no reason at all? I mean, the scene is awesome but if he didn't turn English suddenly, it would be amazing.
+Kazeshini Hasagi exactly that's why there is no reason to talk in english at all! He is still talking to the german, why the hell would he suddenly start talking english, especially because magneto is a german!
Kazeshini Hasagi Seriously, have you even watched the movie? Magneto is a german jew, whose powers were awoken in a german concentration camp during the 1940's (can't remember the exact year) by a german "doctor". He is NOT american! The actor and the movie producers are american, not the character! And read my second sentence, i explained to you why it doesn't make any sense to talk in english there.
The song "Never Again" by Disturbed really embodies Magneto, because he's a Holocaust survivor with the ability to control metal and someone you don't want to mess with.
One of them even tried to justify himself "Just following orders." Later Charles tries to use that to stop Erik from destroying both the American and Russian fleets. Erik: *_"Never again."_*

Well, this mistake is kind of popular in many Hollywood films. In The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017), Belarus is shown as a mountainous country. In reality, Belarus is a flat country without any mountain.
This scene had to be giving a homage to Inglorious Bastards as if the X men director told Michael Fassbender " I really enjoyed that scene where you were a British spy trying to fool other nazis in a bar by pretending to be one of them but failing and getting killed for it. As a matter of fact I liked that scene so much that I will cast you as Magneto in my new X Men movie where you will pretend to also try to fool nazis in a bar by pretending to be one of them but this time succeeding and they die".
Fassbender is just incredible as Magneto. Even the way he finishes his pint of beer in this scene. This is simply the best scene of all of the X-Men movies. Bryan Singer needs to stay away.
No matter who says what, this is the best X-Men movie ever made. It has everything: great characters (Sebastian Shawn is the most stylish villain I've ever seen), a good, well-paced story with all the necessary elements, including the introduction of the heroes, their backgrounds and motives, some epic clashes, a great deal of drama (Magneto's quest for the murderer of his mother), a breathtaking finale, and last but not least a marvellous soundtrack. It was perfect. i daresay it's the best comic movie ever made (no, it's not Watchmen).
I love how when your proven wrong about someone's acting capabilities when I heard fassbender was magneto pissed me off a little but was sort of intrigued and then when I watched this it blew me away the fact he was able to take on an iconic role which I thought couldn't have been done without Ian mckellen.... Awesome actor since then been huge fan

Given how the MCU is not shy of involving time travel and multiverse stuff, they still could and should keep the survivor of the holocaust backstory to Magneto - it’s so integral to the character and frankly he is deserving of his own movie and I partly hope it’ll be like this, nazi hunting and hell maybe fassbender could continue playing him.
James Herbert I thought it added to the tension personally, particularly at 1:50 Perhaps a bit lower would have been better, but I think this scene is perfect in every way. My favourites are the "They didn't have a name. It was taken from them, by pig farmers and tailors". Fassbender's very calmness and serenity betrays his ruthless and melevolent nature. Action wise that moment where he threw the knife into yer man and then it came back to him was gold.

It's kind of telling of their mindset. All he did was reveal he'd been in one of the camps with his family, he wasn't armed in any conspicuous way, and they immediately went to attack him with lethal force
Iafiv Iv true, I'm not denying that being sharp and suspicious of your surroundings would be a highly useful trait, especially when living a dubious life. I'm just remarking on how they went to the darkest possibility immediately. I suppose the best example of the point I'm trying to make was in the manga vagabond. A swordsman saw a farmer with a hoe and kept thinking he was going to attack him with it, so was ready to kill the man. It's revealed that this was just the swordsman projecting his own thoughts on to how he thought others would behave. As such, he thought the farmer was poised to attack him only because he himself was an inherently violent individual On a side note I thought of a morbid alternate scene of this. Magneto has no powers, he's not seeking revenge, it's a coincidence, and he says everything he said just to mock the men at the table. He'd've been stabbed and shot to death by men who feared revenge, pre-emptivly of any action on his part.
As an argentinian, i cringed very hard when i saw ''villa gesell'' recreated by hollywood... villa gesell is a turistic town in the east of argentina, against the atlantic ocean. I think they could've wanted to show bariloche..
Exactly. He's hinted many times he knows exactly who they are, and other than Magneto himself, if their identities are leaked out, they know they're in big trouble.
Well considering he used to be a prisoner, maybe he knows who they are (he might not but he knows they're with that guy). So they assumed the worst - he's out for revenge, not questioning.

They pretty much did his backstory in this movie.
Yeah but we only get him killing two Nazi heads here...something tells me he was doing this for a while before we see him here grown up.
First Class was originally intended to be "X-Men Origins: Magneto". I guess they didn't think people would be interested in a whole movie just about young Magneto but if this was going to be the vibe throughout then I think it would've been a great movie, much as I enjoyed First Class.
yeah well instead we got like 3 shitty movies about Logan so....
I say they fucked up
marvel doesn't like to make things that dont appeal to 11 year olds, and 40 year olds with the mentality of 11 year olds.
Call me fucked up, but this is why I love Magneto so much more than Xavier. He's a tragic anti-hero more than he is a villain, in my eyes.
ofcourse the most interesting characters where always wolverine and magneto. without them xmen is nothing.
Chuckles The Werewolf Magneto is a tragic anti-villain.
