Slim recorded the greatest spoken blues of all time:blues Hangover
Right. And I have the original 45.
never enough slim harpo
I bought this album (He Knew The Blues) when I was a student, and listened to it almost every night before I went to sleep. Wonderful stuff from start to finish. Slim Harpo's vocals and harp are beautiful throughout, and add Rudolph Richard's guitar solos (and duets, as on this track) and you have some very fine blues. My favourite is Mutual Friend. There is a lovely passage where Slim says "Play the blues, just one time!" and there follows one of the best 20 seconds of blues guitar you will ever hear.
Thanks for the info on this album and your comments.
DAMN!!!! I LUV Slim - he SERIOUSLY touches my soul!!!!!!
Slim Harpo, and the blues mean the same thing. For me he is the blues!

I can't get enough of this guy. recently found out he plays harp on half of the recorded tunes by Lightnin' Slim.
Lester played on most of the stuff
A couple cuts on the lightnin slim stuff schoolboy cleve plays harp others by whispering smith but the large portion is lester
From 1987 to 2012 there was a blues program on WYEP in Pittsburgh. Every Saturday afternoon for 25 years at 5:00 sharp the first thing you heard was Slim Harpo doing "King Bee".

1950s and 60s. love listening and enjoying the music.

Amen. Remember "The Fire Ball Blues Special". I bought a lot of singles from Randy's Record Shop in Gallatin TN, and Ernie's Record Shop in Nashville - both advertised on WLAC back then.

Perfect.
Just wonderful
Slim Harpo! Now I can start my day.
James Allard Love Mr Harpo. In the 8 years I have been gigging again, I have almost always included at least 2 or 3 Harpo songs in the set, such as "My Home Is A Prison", "Shake Your Hips", "King Bee" and a few more.
The old adage remains true: you can't go wrong with good material.
I have never heard anyone say anything bad, both as a musician and as a person. Gone way too soon
January 31, 1970.
I wonder how he would react to the world today if he was revived!
I got 2 LP collections and 3 CD collections and I'd never heard this before
I pray to God to give you a lot of beautiful days and you know God loves us so much,So where are you originally from? I am David originally from Spain Granada but living in Texas and you?

very very good.................................................
This song has the vibe of Ray Charles" Lonely Street", very hot!
I love this thread of appreciation of a legend that I have known of too but had not properly listened to. When I did, I was 100% addicted and in awe of his talent and genius. Now I am hooked on trying to find a moving, singing, playing, blowing video of him, but the web throws up blanks like he was never there, or it's been confiscated. Please shed some light if you've been down the rabbit hoke and come out empty-handed. I must see Slim Harpo in action.
Electric guitar as a LEAD blues instrument goes back at least to T Bone Walker in the 1940's. Check it all out. Slim is awesome, but there are also other great, early blues singers. Not to mention Junior Wells on blues harmonica. Have fun. It's all good.
😊😊I'm very pls to know I'm not the only one that loves😍 💖 the song but when last did you play it
I'm not a professional DJ. I probably watched this a year or two ago. I am an American who loves old blues, R&B, and Soul.
