I am now 82 and have loved Swamp Blues since I was 14. I used to listen to WLAC at night only since I live in Mass. No other music like it. Slim, Lazy Lester, Jimmy Reed and all the otherrs. Nothing like it. It doesn't make any difference if you are white or Black. I am White. Music is music no matter what genre you enjoy.

if you like these blues that much and show such respect to the blues masters, and RECOGNIZE your life cannot be wholly pathetic. Helping to keeping the blues alive is what you're doing just by just listening and talking about them...and that's a great thing, keeping the blues alive.

This is Louisiana Blues at its original finest -- Slim was from Baton Rouge and one of the major swamp blues artists. He is pure perfection with his harmonica, so smooth and natural, with a voice to match.

I got into Blues in my teens, back in the 1970s. My father introduced me to Jazz even earlier. However, when I heard Blues, I like it every bit as much as Jazz. I liked English Blues Rock as well, but not as much.
I'm a Tenor Saxophone Player, so I was attracted most to blues artists who played harp, although I really like what Hubert Sumlin did with Howlin' Wolf.
Slim Harpo actually had a few hits on the Billboard Top 100 Singles charts. Not many Blues artists did that with original versions of their recordings.

I like this slim Harpo version of rock me baby. I do believe it was written by King/Josea. I don't know if they're referring to Albert King. I used to play this version of this song by Robin Trower, on the live LP over and over when we had 8 track tapes! Remember those.
