How is it possible nuthatch John got better and better.. I listen to som of my favorites as they have aged,in many cases while still wonderful not what they were in there glory days. John was better as he got older,as his silver turned to gold. Take a listen to John Prine he speaks what is in your head. How is that possible? I believe it is Glorious that simple. Magic
Love and gratitude to you, John, for such profound music through the decades. I know you are having a beautiful reunion with Steve Goodman tonight. Peace and Love...
John Prine is a great songwriter who has the humility to acknowledge other songwriters. That is a trait - humility, and basic human decency, that sets him apart from most in his business. His deferential references to other writers is unique. But he's comfortable with his ability and willing to give credit to others for their creativity. But nobody can turn and twist a phrase like John - the mailman does deliver!!! From a VN Vet who never had the problems of Sam Stone but I could still feel the pain of the song. Keep picking - mate!
Met him and Steve in Siockholm in 1972? when i was labelmanager at Polydor. I drove them to the gig. I did not realice how great they were then. Now i love Steve and John s records. Vinyl !
Thank you John Prine , you certainly have left me with precious souvenirs... your music and the way no other songwriter could put a spin on lyrics.. sure going to miss you my friend but the souvenirs you left me will last me till we meet again , then we'll have a cocktail.. vodka and ginger ale and smoke a cigarette nine miles long... I pray that God will take care of your family ✝️🙏😎🎼🎶🎸
@@moondancer3157 Exactly. I don't want one less but not one more either. Besides the aches and pains the sickness and above all the heartache of losing so many loved ones over the years. A spiritual life is what awaits.
This is my favorite song I wish I had written it. John you never knew how much you are loved by people you had never met. I first heard you in 1995 and I that has made all the difference in my life. Love you John and your family may your music go on to touch more lives!
Memories they just can't be boughten first heard this song around 73 back as a young man going to UW La Crosse Wi. On the GI bill couple years outta the army the years have gone by like a broken down dam and I don't know how they slipped away on me that's why last night and this morning always look the same to me and sweet songs never last to long on broken radios hmm hmm hmmm hmm🎸🤠🇺🇸✝️👍🏻
Saw them together once in PDX in a high school auditorium. Steve was my Illinois hometown favorite from Charlotte's Web. Their regard and friendship was at least part of what made the show. Steve already wore a cap to cover his chemo-balded head, but it shocked me when he died not to long after and it took me months to find out.
I discovered John Prine around 1990, & absolutely have loved his music ever since. First song I heard wad Donald & Lydia, & I just had to hear more. In my eyes, a true legend & American original.
How do 3 people thumbs down a) John Prine and b) this amazing song and dedication. I hope this song and man keep bringing joy to this world for all time!!
Somehow I rediscovered this comment tonight a few years later. We all knew John was gonna go someday. Nobody who loved his music would ever think it but here we are. Just a shame how many things feel different these days since he passed and maybe how his presence is to be forever missed. But he lived it well and that's what he well deserved. Memories they can't be bought and they can't be won at carnivals for free To all the great John Prine admirers like me out there, I wish you (all) all the best
You must be very wealthy. I would LOVE to see him again. Kimmel Center is a rip off show. Was there once to see him a few years back. We've seen him at least 9 times.
FIRST JOHN PRINE TUNE I HEARD WAS "LINDA GOES TO MARS" BACK IN THE 70'S. HAD A FRIEND WHO USED TO DO IT AS PART OF HIS REPERTOIRE WITH HIS BAND. I LATER WAS IN A BLUE GRASS BAND WITH MY FRIEND AND HIS GIRL FRIEND.
🎼🎼 He’s Kissing the pretty girl on the whirligig - smoking a cigarette a mile long - he’s getting back into show business and opening his own bar called forgiveness forgive anyone ever did him wrong 🎼 💋 💋 🧚♀️
Since I heard "Paradise" many years back JP has been a favourite...and his version of "City of New Orleans" with Randy Scruggs was brilliant. Pity it disappeared from RUclips. Did they release a recording?
Does anyone know where the Martin he usually fingerpicks is? I know he didn't use it for a while when it was in the shop after a roadie dropped it and broke the neck at a concert many years back. I hope it is just in for service and will be back soon!
John’s beautiful words and performance would have benefited from a more respectful audience. Folks didn’t come to hear you yelling over the singers and players.
There will never, ever be another John Prine or Steve Goodman. RIIP my brothers..
How is it possible nuthatch John got better and better..

What can I say what has not been said.
If John Prine says you're a good songwriter , he would know. He's as good as anyone who ever wrote one.
"I hate reading old love letters, for they always bring me tears...."
No one on earth writes songs like John Prine. A true original.

Not many songs can reach down and grab your emotions like some of John's Storm Windows.
Amen brother
Thank for your service, war should not exist to begin with if you play guitar,I would like to jam out with you
Pray for John tonight he's fighting for his life from COVID-19.

I could listen to John Prine forever,...think I will.....
Me 2
John is an American original and national treasure. I hope he lives forever.
Me too. Saw him live in Idaho near 30 years ago. I never had a beer till the concert was over. Didn't need one.
I think immortality is a terrible thing to wish on someone. We get old, tired and weary. And want to go HOME!

JOHN PRINES MUSIC WILL LIVE FOREVER!!! WHAT AN AMAZING SINGER/SONGWRITER!!!
What an amazing, wonderful man. I wish I could have met him and got to just sit and talk with him for a while.
This is my favorite song I wish I had written it. John you never knew how much you are loved by people you had never met. I first heard you in 1995 and I that has made all the difference in my life. Love you John and your family may your music go on to touch more lives!
