Memorial Hall, Dayton, Oh a million years ago, we went to see John play. He was alone. The crowd was talking and getting ready and he came out with a black acoustic guitar wearing a black suit and string tie, much younger than he is here, in his prime. He was pure class. When he stepped to the microphone the crowd went silent, and when he began to play his greatness, his talent, his music washed over the crowd. Every song brought rousing cheers and applause. He was the greatest lone entertainer I ever had the good fortune and honor to see. He would look over the crowd and make eye contact with lots of people, only for a moment.. I caught him looking at me and waved, and got a wink and a little smile. It was like he knew my brother and I played a lot of his songs and loved them all. America lost her poet and guitar player the day he passed. Rest in Paradise, John. We all love ya.
That was beautiful. Thank you. I got turned onto JP in 1975 as a seventeen year old. Fortunately, i grew up in Chicagoland and saw him in the pubs in Chicago all through college and beyond. I got to meet him in 2000 and it reinforced all my feelings about this kind, funny, and humble man. He's influenced me for almost fifty years now and I still listen to him almost every day. Love walks with me.

Dan Alexander I just discovered him here a few months ago...and last night I cried, despite only knowing of him for such a short time. I’m binging on his music and interviews. Such a unique, extraordinarily gifted story teller. So grateful to hear his music in soul reflections through song.
I'm right there with you, Dan. I've been a fan for the last 45 years. This is a huge loss for us, especially in these times when we need gems like John to help us through. I am feeling this loss so very deeply.

I love his music whether it makes you laugh, cry or just puts a big grin on your face. I will miss him until I myself am smoking a cigarette 9 miles long! RIP John.
My uncle John was the best. I have been a life long fan since I was never sang lullabies as a child...only my uncle Johns songs. I never realized how legendary he was until later in life. Always took him for granted.
I met him in his later years. Once. He was a saint of a man, gave an unknown folk musician such encouragement. The one thing I will always treasure was him saying "Go on, play my songs. But make them yours. If you sing like you mean it I'm not going to object..." When I heard we had lost him I cried. Hard. Then I played "That's The Way The World Goes Round" in my next set and I heard him laughing.
I had to put my dog of 14 years down on Tuesday. I brought her to the woods behind my house, a place that she loved. I buried her there. I came home and found out John had passed. I am an atheist but good god I wanted to picture John walking her to somewhere better. I want to think that she sits and listens to him play his timeless music. They are both feeling no pain.
I'm sorry about your dog, they're so loving. I hope you find Faith in believing in God. We have a soul, something can not come from nothing and life is simply better when you believe, you feel it more than not.
This can be a chance to believe that maybe...*just maybe* there is something special going on here in your life. In this life. Your perception can consider it as slight silver linings , which can lead to defined lines.. or it can be considered as two personally-inflicted tragedies that happened to only you on thay day.. one will plant seeds for positivity and one will start you down a road where yoir breaks get cut. You may not need a defined sense of "God" in a traditional religious sense (many do not) to find the hope for something better in this world/life as it hurdles speed bumps towards your seemingly steady stride.. many do not. But I promise - even if its believing in yourself... we all need something to believe in. It is fundamental to our existence.. even if the belief is simply allowing oneself to exist within the turmoil of it all. To each their own. But I am enjoying picturing the image of your dog wagging their tail while John is standing with him/her happily smiling down at you playing music for you whenever you need it. I believe they are together - wherever we go when we go where we go. Stay strong ! And keep getting stronger.

From Ann Powers' remembrance of John Prine, who died yesterday at the age of 73: “He hadn’t been well, off and on, for many years, but he also seemed oddly indestructible. Everyone’s love and need for his presence wove protection around him. But we are living in a time when no concept of protection seems adequate. Acknowledging that, I turned to Prine’s music. Ann Moore - You’re not getting older, you’re getting better, Ann. And like all of us here, we’re accompanied, guided, and consoled by this beautiful bard called John Prine... Gone perhaps, yet immortal as he is beloved. RIP, John 😢
He didn't sing it here, but as a gentleman of 76, married 50 years, the song "Hello in There, Hello" rings true for me. This man is a national treasure that too many folks have never heard or appreciated. Wishing John and Fiona recovery from this devasting virus.
I have never heard of John Prine or heard a song of his. Until tonight. With all the stuff going in the world and my life I sit here in a total state of euphoria - nothing can harm me, and everything that has bothered my has suddenly disappeared. I can't really explain it, and it's unlike anything I have ever experienced before. At the same time, I am saddened to hear of his passing, and to have not found this treasure sooner. Rest in paradise.
How could you not love John Prine? An authentic, genuine American treasure. Brilliant songwriter. RIP Mr. Prine, you are missed by the entire world. You made some beautiful music and millions of people smile.
Rest easy John, I'm 21 years old and I discovered your music as a teenager. Absolutely heartbroken to hear about the news of your passing, although I'm still very grateful to have come across your music so early while you were still alive.
Thank you!! You give hope to us of John's age, so grateful to hear from the younger generation appreciating his great music!! Pass along the wisdom, please-- there's healing & understanding & peace to be found in great music like his!
More tears 💔 but thank you. I’ve found that to be the case with a few other songs. Lake Marie,,,,end of the song “we gotta go now”. Punched me in the gut. He’s telling us, he has to go now.
This is my favorite tiny desk concert session. My favorite musician. How lucky we are to have had this genius in our midst for as long as we had him. The best live shows i have ever been to. I will miss him terribly, will have to rely on his recorded words. 😢
Why in the world do they not have a statue erected in the Maywood Illinois town center of John Prine. It astounds me how few people here even know who he is. His words have changed the course of my life since the early 70's. Thank you John.
pete hicks I just discovered him a few months ago...and also was astounded I’d never heard of him. What an incredible storyteller, unique, authentic, soul stirring...
God, this audio is phenomenal. I’m listening to this at 340am getting ready to get up and hit another day in the backcountry of the western Montana mountains, this performance is exactly what I needed.
"then your heart gets bored with your mind and it changes you". It's amazing how he can put complex thoughts and ideas into just a few simple words that convey every feeling and emotion.
Sadly, I was decades late to the John Prine appreciation party, and it’s so obvious that I missed out on something meaningful and truly special. I watch as many of his clips, songs, concerts as possible, and as much as his voice and lyrics are so full of life’s experiences, I equally appreciate his musicians and guests. The looks on their faces are noticeably full of pride and honor to be in John’s presence.
About the same the last 10 maybe 15 years. I do remember paradise when I was young in the 70’s probably. I believe it was popular on the radio and why wouldn’t it be.
I spent my staycation in mourning and couldn't even speak the first day as I tried to explain to my family who John was and how important he STILL IS to all of us. Thanks John for making a 68 year old cry like a baby. It felt real good. Ohwyowyo. I agree that RIP means Rest in Paradise, eating peaches, kissin' that pretty girl and smoking that cigarette that's NINE MILES LONG.
Saw John in Cinci quite a long time ago. Took a person to the show and she was taken aback on how the crowd sang along on so many songs...that was John...everyone loved him and his unique and beautiful story telling. His songs are timeless.
it is September 30th, 2021, I am listening to this at 12:53AM and this is absolutely beautiful. Thank you NPR. Thank you Tiny Desk, and thank you John Prine. Rest in Peace Mr. Prine, those of use that are still around are lucky to be able to listen to and watch this over and over again.
As I sit here tonight with my tears listening to this great storyteller I draw comfort knowing he is still singing as he makes his way up to Heaven...we loved you and always well...RIP John Prine.
This song brings up my deepest and saddest feelings about the death of my 42 yr old daughter on New Year's morning 2020. By choice (or not) some paths are predetermined. "Well I can see that you can't win for trying. And New Year's Eve is bound to leave you crying" says everything about the hopes and disappointments we all experience. Thank you John for saying things I couldn't. We will miss your voice. When words fail, music speaks.
I am so sad today, sad that I discovered John Prine for me only recently (I'm in my sixties), and sad again that I came too late to book a ticket to see him live, in Dublin. He's my new Dylan, so warm, so funny, so lyrical, so full of meaning and humanity ! God bless you, John !!!
Try looking forward instead of back on this one - you've got a whole world of wonderful music to fall in love with! Welcome to the Prine shrine; the rest of us have to wait ten years between records these days and you get them all in one go :-).
I am in my mid 50s and only discovered John Prine yesterday when I read about him being critically ill with the coronavirus. Imagine my surprise and yes sadness when I began a marathon listening of him on RUclips. He is like an old friend I've never met until now and in just one day became one of my favorite performer/singer/song writer of all time.
Kean Hall, I've only just discovered him as well. I'm 56 and wish I'd been listening to him for many years. "Come on home" chokes me up every time. It's possibly the most beautiful song I've ever heard.
Ah...the wonderful Tiny Desk Concerts! I've made some neat discoveries of obscure , great musicians, Like going to a folk club in the old days here in NZ
Back in 1979 at the Fairbanks, Alaska summer solstic Party, John Staggard up to our camp fire to sit and play and swap stories and my, my,my what a treat that was. One of those memories that puts a smile on my face every time. See ya soon John. They just found something on my lung that ain't purdy.
For me, the loss of John Prine is the saddest moment of the pandemic. Such a beautiful soul who overcame so much and sang with such honesty, vulnerability, and humor. I’ll miss you forever John.❤️💕
"Valentines break hearts and minds at random". Just take a moment to consider how deep that line is..... I'm so glad to have found this Tiny Desk and John Prine's music. I had heard his name in the past, but never got into him until now. He knows how to put into words what you thought you knew.
An American treasure is exactly correct! What an amazing list of songs this man has written, I get the sense that he doesn't even have to work very hard at it, he gets them done "before the meatloaf is done" and then records them. What a gifted artist. His friendly personality sines bright in the things he says and his demeanor, I'd sure like to enjoy a meatloaf dinner with this man someday!
I once cooked him chicken in Berlin about 10 days after the wall opened...he came into the bar i was working in with Pat, and his wife Fiona who was about 19 at the time..man could they drink and they just sat at the bar and played acoustic between drinks..no big deal it was no concert and later i recognized the songs on the album "Missing Years",which he recorded a few months later.
Reckon Craig. ! I only really knew " A Hole in Daddy's Arm." until a while back. Oh what a joy to hear so many more..! " The swimmin suits, are on the line, just dryyyyin."
So loved John Prine still do. He's a souvenir of my life 45 + years of them. First saw him live with another beautiful soul, Steve Goodman, at a small many years gone venue, Rainbow Music Hall Denver, CO. Both these guys made me and still make me cry and laugh, such artistry and beauty. Thanks NPR!!! 😢 &😅
Heartfelt sympathies to John's family, band mates, and friends. So saddened by the loss of John Prine, a treasure of this earth. Such a loss for us all-he will be sorely missed.....
You wanna cry? There's an old video of Prine and Steve Goodman singing souvenirs, it's pretty magic. It meant something to Prine too, years ago when I last saw him he was still dedicating to song to Goodman. What a amazing duo. I'm glad I at least got to see it.
Heard an interview where John was talking about his first show after his surgery where he was unsure of how his voice would hold up. He said he had a little trouble with it, but the crowd was really behind him and pushed him through it, a tear came to his eye and he got choked up. Not afraid to wear his heart out where anyone can see it, just like his songs.
Being a life long songwriter folks had always told me about John prine, for 20 years prolly, sadly I didn't give a listen until I heard that he had died from covid, to make long story short for the past 4 years I sit and cry and listen to his songs that are the best ever written three to five times a week and shoot myself in the foot that I didn't go see him live and pay attention while he was still alive. Moral of the story listen to anyone that anyone tells you is good while they're alive so you can go and see them. I don't think there was ever a better songwriter than John hearing his music changed my life.
Rest in piece John. You’re the only artist I feel like I’ve known my entire life. I remember being a six year old going to my first concert ever at red rocks. I’ve never enjoyed music as much as then. You never disappoint. Still hurts knowing you’re gone. You’re music will live forever though
"There's a hole in Daddy's arm where all the money goes . . . " may just be the best, and most troubling, line ever written/performed in music - all factors considered (including the painful time period with which it was penned).
I've been a dedicated Prine fan since 1978. His music is as much a part of me as my right arm is. I treasure his music. The song "Souvenirs" reminds me of Steve Goodman and if you're Prine fan you know what that means. Excellent performance
I can’t think of anyone that wrote or writes about humankind the way john did. With so much love, wit and charm. What a gem. I get emotional talking /writing about him ♥️😊
Honestly never heard of him before he died and the endless omage to his legacy, but I never heard lyrics so deep and genuine, and that goes double for the man himself. “... that’s the day they make meatloaf.” Novice on guitar, but a musician since almost birth, I’ll learn a few of his songs. It’s like what I tell people about a joke they retell, “Tell it like it’s yours.”
a novice if you define it by technical ability. if you define musicianship by the feeling you can convey and bring out of the listener, he was a virtuoso.
I stumbled across this recently, and even after two years, I wasn't sure I was ready to watch it. I did. Twice. I even played along a little bit. I miss John being on this earth. I'm thankful he was here.
When I was going through the roughest stretch of my adult life, Johns music was a comfort & a friend (it’s a half an inch a water and you think your gonna drown). I’m 51, I discovered John when I was 13, nothing touches my soul like John Prine songs. Thank You.
I don't know how many times I have listened to this recording now. Appreciate John so much - but keep appreciating more and more the excellent musicians he gathered around him. All three so tasteful, so discrete, so humble. Just presenting John, really. Thank you, especially, Jason, for your guitar on Summer's End here. That song is almost too much.
I only started listening to John Prine about a year ago, but he has quickly become one of my all time favorite artists. He is simply amazing, and I hope I can catch him on tour.
I saw him live at Bonnaroo 2019 and even though I was already a fan he blew me away with his talent as not only a songwriter, but a fantastic performer. Word up to John Prine
I'm always happy when I see Jason Wilber playing (he's on guitar next to John Prine). I've seen him play with Iris Dement, and the smiles n' wide grins as he plays shows he's loving every minute of it. A talented musician in his own right, he still has that look when playing with great artists that he just can't believe it's happening. I started my guitar playing 27 years ago singing John Prine songs. My first, Speed of the Sound (of Loneliness) went down a storm in the wee bar where I lived. Up in the Highlands of Scotland, not many folk had ever heard of John Prine. I also introduced them to Iris Dement and Nanci Griffith songs. This was back in 1991. The bar is no longer there, a lot of the old folk have died, and I've moved around a lot as well. But the music of John Prine, Iris Dement and Nanci Griffith (along with many others), follows me wherever I go. Thank you for posting this.
@@gradywright - Hello. Jasons guitar is a ''Larrivee'' - although I am not sure if it could be a P-03R or a 00-03R (both from their ''Recording Series'' of guitars). Either one would set you back over $2000! Have a good week. Best. Dawg.
@@williamnichols2015 - Yup - he's got some good stuff here on RUclips. Ilike his channel. Some great tunes! Apologies for the very late reply (YT didn't show it up in my notifications. I only saw your comment as someone has just asked a question below yours). All the best. Dawg.
@Digger Dawg What a lovely image of you introducing the wonderful songs of John Prine to new audiences everywhere you travel. And thank you for highlighting the talents of his supporting musicians. You are so right. Seeing the smiles as they appreciate the beauty of the moment and the music adds to the whole performance.
As a Vietnam vet who actually was in country, This song Come on Home. John served in the Army in Germany but had a lot of hurts friends who were hurt much, So he understandshas special meaning to me. Thank you John
I was broken hearted when we lost John Prine. He was a great song writer and a wonderful human being and we are 15:10 running out of his kind. Miss you, John Prine.
I'm very sad to hear about COVID-19 taking hold of your health. Thank you for your wonderful music, John Prine. You are an inspiration at the highest level and a legend. Sending love to you and your family. 🙏🏻♥
Even with the Squamous Cell, his voice is still rich and full of John. I don't feel like I lost any of him. He truly is an original style American Folk writer. One of my personal favorites since early teens. Took me awhile, but I had a couple children. I fed em both peaches. And they found Jesus on their own. They are great boyos. We sang that song together every year when the peaches were ready until they were all gone again for the year. John Prine filled our growing up years in my house and made things real with a great way of looking at most of everyday life. Thank you, Mr. Prine, for everything!
Listening again tonight is just the most glorious and the saddest night...I will miss you, John, forever and ever. I so hope you are fishin' in heaven.
Rest In Paradise, John Prine. The entire world will miss you so much.
Sad news tonight. RIP John
Devastated. Such a sad, sad day.
I'm sad tonight... Check out his due of In Spite of Ourselves with Iris Demet. It's my favorite of his songs.

Something about his voice is so comforting 💓
The soul whisperer.
Ann Moore - You’re not getting older, you’re getting better, Ann. And like all of us here, we’re accompanied, guided, and consoled by this beautiful bard called John Prine... Gone perhaps, yet immortal as he is beloved. RIP, John 😢
@@solooverland3666 So well said, thank you!
That's awesome that he had such an effect on you. Many Americans have thought his songs are a national treasure for years. Welcome to the club.
Same here, what a f..ing legend..better late than never.
How could you not love John Prine?
An authentic, genuine American treasure.
Brilliant songwriter.
RIP Mr. Prine, you are missed by the entire world.
You made some beautiful music and millions of people smile.
One of the best Tiny Desk concert ever . Emotionally Prine's broken voice is at his peak , i don't how many times I've listened ... really amazin' .
Rest easy John, I'm 21 years old and I discovered your music as a teenager. Absolutely heartbroken to hear about the news of your passing, although I'm still very grateful to have come across your music so early while you were still alive.
Tanner Peterson And his music will always be with us. 💖
Thank you!! You give hope to us of John's age, so grateful to hear from the younger generation appreciating his great music!! Pass along the wisdom, please-- there's healing & understanding & peace to be found in great music like his!
love that all ages like his music,RIP John Prine The Best!
Listening to “All the Best” now feels like a farewell to us, like he’s wishing us the best, letting us know that we, as a world, can get through this.
:(
Oh boy I felt that one this way too
More tears 💔 but thank you. I’ve found that to be the case with a few other songs. Lake Marie,,,,end of the song “we gotta go now”. Punched me in the gut. He’s telling us, he has to go now.
♥️♥️💔 john prine brings good souls together
Like losing a family member, or part of yourself. American icon, John Prine.
An American original.
He got me through so much in life.
Thank you, NPR for introducing me to another great artist. What a legend.
I just found out about him today. Mind blown that I had never heard of the guy
pete hicks I just discovered him a few months ago...and also was astounded I’d never heard of him.
What an incredible storyteller, unique, authentic, soul stirring...
Recomend it to the local council!
They have changed the course of folk music since the 1970s.
God, this audio is phenomenal. I’m listening to this at 340am getting ready to get up and hit another day in the backcountry of the western Montana mountains, this performance is exactly what I needed.
That sounds amazing!

RIP - John Prine. We lost John Prine and Bill Withers in the same week.
Yeah, I know we're in a time of plague, but that is REALLY unfair.
Oh my God. How can we survive this? Two of the most beautiful among us...
Ain't that just fu__ed
You will be missed, Mr. Prine. Few people can weave words into lyrics like you did.
Thank you for the beauty of your simplicity
I spent my staycation in mourning and couldn't even speak the first day as I tried to explain to my family who John was and how important he STILL IS to all of us. Thanks John for making a 68 year old cry like a baby. It felt real good. Ohwyowyo. I agree that RIP means Rest in Paradise, eating peaches, kissin' that pretty girl and smoking that cigarette that's NINE MILES LONG.
and fishing and whistling in heaven
Saw John in Cinci quite a long time ago. Took a person to the show and she was taken aback on how the crowd sang along on so many songs...that was John...everyone loved him and his unique and beautiful story telling. His songs are timeless.
Thanks mom and dad for being so tasteful and exposing me to such beautiful music LOVE YA JOHN!
I use to hate my dads taste in music. It turns out he was right all along. John Prine is pure genius!
The whole world is crying today. A world without John Prine? I know we have his music but he made the world such a better place.
No way to say how much this man's work has touched my life for over forty years now.
it is September 30th, 2021, I am listening to this at 12:53AM and this is absolutely beautiful. Thank you NPR. Thank you Tiny Desk, and thank you John Prine. Rest in Peace Mr. Prine, those of use that are still around are lucky to be able to listen to and watch this over and over again.
Sis anyone else crying? Fifty years of John Prine in my life...I love him, I miss him...
So true! Is this your favorite song?
@@scottrichard5792 probably not - it would be hard to choose just one. I do love Hello in There.

RIP John, you will be so dearly, sorely missed. I hope heaven does exist and it's exactly how you imagined it.
John makes it look so easy, which it is not. What a great concert. Thank you NPR for capturing Mr.Prine in his prime.
He’s the best
Try looking forward instead of back on this one - you've got a whole world of wonderful music to fall in love with! Welcome to the Prine shrine; the rest of us have to wait ten years between records these days and you get them all in one go :-).
I am in my mid 50s and only discovered John Prine yesterday when I read about him being critically ill with the coronavirus. Imagine my surprise and yes sadness when I began a marathon listening of him on RUclips. He is like an old friend I've never met until now and in just one day became one of my favorite performer/singer/song writer of all time.
I'm 52 years old... and I've only just discovered John Prine's music..."Come on home"...wow...feel like I've been hit by a freight train
Kean Hall, I've only just discovered him as well. I'm 56 and wish I'd been listening to him for many years.
"Come on home" chokes me up every time. It's possibly the most beautiful song I've ever heard.
Wow. You're lucky. I wish I could listen to all his stuff again for the first time. Check out Townes Van Zandt next. Then I'll give you another one 😉
His first album is a masterpiece
Me too, 51. An odd blindspot. His music seems to sit in a place that many know but some of us just somehow missed.
Kean Hall me too...I’m 45, and just discovered him a few months ago. What a gift he had, incredible storyteller.
It is so very hard to do better than John Prine. Come on home! You don't have to be alone! Thank you Tiny Desk team for this amazing concert!
James enjoy the time you have because we just dont know how long we have. I lost too many people the last 6 yrs
James Haney how are you
For me, the loss of John Prine is the saddest moment of the pandemic.
I can't remember having a heart this broken before. may flights of angels guide you to your rest. You made us all better with your songs.
Better be good meatloaf.
Wow!
Amen brother.with a cold
Orange crush. Oh yea!
Yes, What is it about Prine's songs that just leave us weeping? An opening of the heart in a world ever closing?
Back in the day, when John was an 'upper comer' Johnny Cash said this about him: "He's 24 years old and writes songs like he's 240 years old."
Any time a man sings for free and takes pride in his work, It's Worth the price of admission.
Up and comer.
Somebody said if John Prine gets any better they might have to break his thumbs.....
@@jaspernewcomb5656 Kris Kristofferson said that about him.
@@beccaparson7435 right on Becca! I love John Prine's music it makes me feel right at home...

One of the absolute greatest. His songs come from a special place . Thank you John Prine.
"There's a hole in Daddy's arm where all the money goes . . . " may just be the best, and most troubling, line ever written/performed in music - all factors considered (including the painful time period with which it was penned).
Absolutely. That song resonated with my generation. We played it over and over again. I know every word, will never forget it. Brilliant.
I've been a dedicated Prine fan since 1978. His music is as much a part of me as my right arm is. I treasure his music. The song "Souvenirs" reminds me of Steve Goodman and if you're Prine fan you know what that means. Excellent performance
His songs held me up through the year after my marriage dissolved. I can't believe he's gone.
Ya Lost Dogs and Mixed Blessings did the same for me...
I can’t think of anyone that wrote or writes about humankind the way john did. With so much love, wit and charm. What a gem. I get emotional talking /writing about him ♥️😊
Thank you Mr. Prine for this gift you have given to so many. You truly have written some of the most beautiful music.
Honestly never heard of him before he died and the endless omage to his legacy, but I never heard lyrics so deep and genuine, and that goes double for the man himself. “... that’s the day they make meatloaf.”
Novice on guitar, but a musician since almost birth, I’ll learn a few of his songs.
It’s like what I tell people about a joke they retell, “Tell it like it’s yours.”
welcome to the show....
a novice if you define it by technical ability. if you define musicianship by the feeling you can convey and bring out of the listener, he was a virtuoso.
I cried when he left the world. Always wanted tp meet him and sing with him.
But, i've been singing with him all these years. 🎉
Meatloaf.
I stumbled across this recently, and even after two years, I wasn't sure I was ready to watch it. I did. Twice. I even played along a little bit.
I miss John being on this earth.
I'm thankful he was here.
Thank you for leaving behind all this great music John Prine. May you rest in peace knowing that you always will remain an American treasure.
His songs will be here forever 🙏🏼
When I was going through the roughest stretch of my adult life, Johns music was a comfort & a friend (it’s a half an inch a water and you think your gonna drown). I’m 51, I discovered John when I was 13, nothing touches my soul like John Prine songs.
Thank You.
John, I have been a fan for more years than I can recall. And after all these years, you continue to enhance my life. Thanks man.
Jason's guitar is superb accompaniment as always and, it can break your heart.
perfect Andrew. They were superb together..
That first song is what I look for.songs that give me the chills.i love all his music but sometimes they hit just right
Masterful songwriting
His music changed my life. Sending healing mojo your way, John Prine.
I could listen too John Prine sing for hours on end .his songs weave a tapestry of life and living when you step back to get a look you see yourself
I only started listening to John Prine about a year ago, but he has quickly become one of my all time favorite artists. He is simply amazing, and I hope I can catch him on tour.
John was a friend since 1973, I still hv his original press records in Angel covers Great man
"...the sky is black and still now
On the hill where the angels sing"
I saw him live at Bonnaroo 2019 and even though I was already a fan he blew me away with his talent as not only a songwriter, but a fantastic performer. Word up to John Prine
Thinking of John today. Timeless music and storytelling. Fight hard, and get well soon. America can't lose you just yet.
Love Jason's work too Digger. Ever seen his work on "Lake Marie" with John at Studio 54 West in 2008? Try RUclips. Just sublime.
Love the size of his guitar. Any idea what he’s playing?
@@gradywright - Hello. Jasons guitar is a ''Larrivee'' - although I am not sure if it could be a P-03R or a 00-03R (both from their ''Recording Series'' of guitars). Either one would set you back over $2000! Have a good week. Best. Dawg.

What a lovely image of you introducing the wonderful songs of John Prine to new audiences everywhere you travel.

Wow. Just discovered this, and it is so great. Thank you! The more I listen to Mr. Prine, the more I admire him.
