Yoooo your video randomly popped up on my feed and I had to check it out as it was about Film Emulation! Thanks for sharing this video and showing the process bro, i can implement it into my grading process ❤
Thank you for mentioning the RUclips compression grain. Every time I see a "film emulation" video with a decent amount of grain on YT it looks like TRASH. Awesome video!! I got Powergrade II and have never used Resolve so it's fairly intimidating. I've been using Premiere for 4 years so I doubt it'll be that drastic of a change, but this reminded me I need to learn Resolve haha, thanks! Great video as always man!
I know it's been five months so you might have figured this out by now but if you click the 3 dots at the top right of the Project Settings menu you can save your current settings as a preset and even make them the default for future projects!

Hey man, just found out your channel yesterday. Your videos are very informative. I was thinking, if you could make a video on beginner's guide to editing or editing for beginners 101 something like that. I searched on youtube but I didn't found any video that helpful. I was hoping you could make a video on this. I new to editing and filmmaking. I would really appreciate it. All the best for your channel. Don't stop every making videos & have a great day. 🌟
Yo I can definitely make a video about that! It may be after a while but I can for sure do it! And I’d use davinci resolve! It’s free version is like 90% of what you get in the paid version! Also thank you so much for watching and everything!
"Mac display" and "Rec.709-A" if viewing on a Mac display, yes? But if not using a Mac display, is it recommended to leave these two check boxes blank?
No you don’t! There are some features like halation where one of the methods requires the paid version of davinci but I believe 90% of the powergrade works with the free version!
awesome video! Had a quick question abt the colour management as I've been soooo unbeliably confused on it amd been trying all diff options to get accurate outputs for tiktok and youtube. With what you showed is that still your settings? Do you find it the most accurate??
Would it be possible to use this to export a LUT (.cube-file) I know cube files don’t take halation and texture, but can i export the core of the look to then use the LUT inside my Alexa Mini as a reference-LUT while shooting?
@@CartyCantDance Nahh I'm sorry but it looks like complete mush. Maybe it looks okay on a tiny phone screen but on my monitor it looks bad, like seriously bad.
ive noticed this style of people sitting in random spots with mics in their hands and softly talking i wonder what started the trend out of curiosity lol
Honestly I don’t know! I started doing it cause I kinda got bored of people just sitting in the same spot in the same room for all their videos so I tried to switch it up 🤷🏼♂️ do we like or nah?
Okay this is something that I’m curious about because we did take the clip from log to graded but in my opinion, log is all kinda gonna look similar so I’ve never understood showing the before and after because of the after should be good enough that you don’t want to see the before 🤔 I don’t know that’s just my opinion but I’m working on a larger video on film emulation programs so I’ll be sure to show full res versions of the graded files in that one!
@@edwardcrockett Many people shoot on their phone and many consumer cameras do not come with Log file but with a compiled H.246 MP4 format and that's it. Your title says "EASY Film Emulation For Any Camera in Davinci Resolve". Any camera means all kind of cameras including smartphones and not just cameras that have the option to shoot log file. People looking into make their mp4 footage to have the look like it was shot on film, and since any footage from mp4 camera will look different. That's why "before" and "after" are needed, to see what was the input and what is the output, and also how to achieve it. Make a film emulation of 720p mp4 footage that came from smartphone. That's the real thing people wants. I hope it was clear.
@@Smarthalayla definitely clear and you actually CAN use this program with any camera. It has a rec709 lut that would apply to any of the examples you listed. I’m sure next time I can add in more examples if that’s helpful but the title is true that it’s EASY and works for ANY camera 🤙🏼
Thanks for sharing your process. I’ve been frustrated with the output settings and your explanation in the beginning really cleared that up. Thanks!
You bet! I’m really glad that it helped!
Here's a tip that helps me in my workflow. You can group clips together and apply the grade to the whole group. Awesome video!!
Hey thank you! I have done that sometimes but I actually prefer to not group them. That's just my preference
I've been waiting for videos about this powergrade! thank you for this
You bet! And in the description I linked Serr’s video so feel free to check his out as well!
1:10 - it’s not a „downside“. Just select 709-A and then save it as default preset. Now you don’t have to set it again ;)

Is this lut pack compatible with Iphone log footage from filmic pro or not ?

How do you compare this power grade too dehancer ? And have you solely shoot your last two videos with xs20?

does it work with the free version of davinci
or need to be davinci studio ?

Yes but I’m actually working on a video all about how to grade 8 bit cameras so keep an eye out for that too
