Subbed! Finally, you break it down with examples and not just talk through the video. Thank you! This is exactly how people show explain a film emulation. Some are beginners like me and need breakdowns like this.
Glad you found it helpful!

Wow amazing! Thank you

Always struggled where to position the masking nodes in cineprint. Thanks a lot!
Happy the video helped, thanks for watching!
Incredible explanation, I've been a photographer for 15 years and just recently starting working with video and it is SO complicated haha. One quick question. Having followed all of these steps, how can I save the adjusted cineprint 16 to new clips?
Thanks for the video! I wonder do you change the setting on camera for the Slog2 (on Sony)? Like the saturation etc.. ? thanks!
Awesome video! Keep up the great work! One thing I would do when creating these tutorials is always show people the color management settings you use. I feel like it is often overlooked and is vital for the final image. Out of curiosity, what did you use for those settings?
Hey! That’s a really good idea that we overlooked, we’ll definitely show that going forward! We shot this on a Mac so for the timeline colour science it’s set to Davinci YRGB and the timeline input and output colour space is Rec.709 A
@@meliorstudios Thanks for the comment! Looks great!
Thanks a lot!
Love this powergrade! where would be the best place to put in the glow node? thanks!
Hi, I have a question regarding the video settings on your sony camera with slog 3, did you tweak any of the settings? like black level, knee, saturation, detail etc in camera?
Great tutorial thank you!!! do you know how to remove the powergrade tittle on footage?
Thank you!!
🙏🏽
10/10 tutorial
Thanks for watching
Quick question, what was the color space (davinci settings) you were working on? Or what do i have to set it to?
I’m new to cineprint16. I have a question with regards to CST. Can I actually put on a conversion lut rather than change out the CST? And also if I’m using a PP8 on my Sony a7rv what should my settings be on CST?
love this. any chance you'll break down the border application? been having trouble with that myself
We’ve actually had that problem oursleves. I think it may be best to check out Tom’s video or contact him directly. Sorry we couldn’t help
When it says 3d matte node needs to be removed how can I fix that?
Je peux utiliser un étalonnage de Log différent (ghalex) et après utiliser le cineprint ? Cela modifiera certainement le style, mais j'aimerai essayer ça , c'est possible selon vous ?
can it used lut on sony zve1 or zve10m2?
Where should I buy the Cineprint 16?
Love the work but I need some help Whats The differences between CINEPRINT16 and DIGIFILM?
Great tutorial as always! Are you using dehancer as well to grade?
Thanks for watching! And yes we'll use Dehancer for certain projects too. Whichever seems fitting. Dehancer has more versatility
Hey, so how do you add the downloadable film grains that you all provided to a video in Davinci Resolve?
Once you downloaded the overlay. Drag it into your timeline over your clips then set the composite mode to overlay in the inspector tab. If the grain overlay is too short then just just keep duplicating it till it’s the right length
❤️❤️
Thanks for watching!
This is a great tutorial, though I have one question. So, I use bmpcc 6k, (the original one) and I'm curios to know. How do I know what color space transform settings I am using. For instance, there is film gen 1, bmpcc 4k gen 4, etc. I have no idea which ones to pick. In order to get a proper image suitable for toms cineprint 16 v2
probably just have to do a fair amount of googling tbh, there's bound to be some dude on reddit from two years ago that asked the same question lol
Hi, thank you very much for the tutorial! When I click on the nodes, the effects section doesn't allow me to use the "settings" options, do you know why that is? (i use the free version of davinci)
Hey Ella, Which node are you having trouble with? You won't be able to use the film grain node as that's a studio feature, however, everything else should work fine. Also make sure you're using the latest version of davinci!
Hey, I'm having trouble applying the flim border mentioned in version 2. Can you tell me how to apply it?
Hi we also have problems with that. It may be worth asking Tom Bolles
I love you
Great tutorial, thank you! Is it normal that after applying the powergrade, the playback is extremely slow? Even with proxy and disable Denoise and Grain, I can't get over 7fps, my rush are in 25 fps. I have a Macbook air M1 16go Ram. It's weird...
@@adentyz Ok, so I'm not alone !
But yeah, your mac mini M1 32gb ram and my M1 16gb are normally very powerfull computer, so it's definitively weird.
Annoying !
Can I not convert this over to final cut?
Awesome! Can we use this on the ipad version? Thanks
I’m not entirely sure but if you can import the powergrade you should be able to!
for the color space transform what would the setting be if you recorded on a iPhone
For the input colour space and input gamma put Rec.709 and you should be good to go
can i know how to setup s3 pp? i have fx3. so i want to know or explain about your 10bit sony video setting?
The Sony a7siii is just set at pp8 with nothing changed !
I have a mac mini M1 16gb ram. Will I be running into slow frames with this power grade when playback?
And if so, any tips to make the playback smooth?
Only when you have film grain and Denoise on. I recommend turning those off till before you need to export and then turn them on again. You can slo change the playback resolution to half or quarter. Alternatively recuse your timeline resolution to 1080p from 4K and then before you export turn the timeline resolution back to 4K
Hi, the skintones in cineprint16 V2 have a heavy magenta shift, which I don't see in the V1 - all using Printfilm. Anybody else has this problem?
Try using the camera WB to adjust the tint!
what gamma and colour space do i have to put into the cst for lumix g7 footage?
I don’t think the G7 can shoot log, therefore your color space and Color gamma inputs should be Rec.709
My Cineprint v2 isn't working, no nodes come up after applying power grade?? Anyone know what the issue is or had the same problem?? (Just bought Cineprint and the standard one working, V2 not working) appreciate some help!
Hey Leon, this problem will occur because you’re using an older version of Davinci Resolve. Once you update Davinci, the v2 node tree will appear
Hi, if you have shot using Sony Slog3 S Gamut Cine, do you keep the Output colour space and Output Gamma the same in the Power grade at Arri wide gamut and arri logC3?
Yes, like the tutorial, just leave the output color space and out gamma as it is, I.e. Arri wide gamut and arri log c. This is needed to carry out the conversion using cineon or the print film look
@@meliorstudios thank you
Hey! Idk if that is a dumb question but I have the Canon G7X Mark 3 which is obviously not a cinematic camera but I wanted to give it a try by finessing the footage with this color grading method. I'm just wondering, what input color space and gamma setting I would choose then, if possible even?
I also wanna know! I have the Canon G7X Mark II and just purchased cineprint 16 but when I try to use it, the footage turns horrible :(
Hey! We haven't used the G7x but does it come with any log profiles or no? if not for your input color space and input gamma, put Rec.709
Hey! We haven't used the G7x but does it come with any log profiles or no? if not for your input color space and input gamma, put Rec.709
@@meliorstudios Thanks for answering!! definitely gonna try it.
Is it only can be used for davinchi resolve 'studio' version?
Yes! The only thing that wont work is the film grain, once you turn that off you're good to go. But we have a solution for this! If you check out our store link in the bio and go to "FREE ITEMS" we have Free Film Grain overlays you can download and use as an alternative for using the Free version of Davinci Resolve
i cant use ineprint 16 without having DaVinci studios
how come when I use cineprintt 16, my footage gets choppy and goes in slow motion
This is because of your computer, cineprint16 can be quite hard on the computer but if you turn off the film grain node it should playback a lot better! You can turn the film grain node back on before you export
is the original footage raw footage?
if i apply cineprint v2 there pop out a water mark and i dont know to to remove it
Hey! You have to turn off the film grain node and it should disappear
🙏🙏🙏
Thanks !
how do i know my camera color space ?
What camera are you using?
What if we shoot HLG-3? Do we use Rec 709 for input gamma? And should I use Rec 709 for color space do you think? Thank you so much!
sorry for the late reply! I suggest you use:
input color space: Rec.2020
Input gamma: Rec.2100 HLG
this is if you're using Bt.2020, if you're using Rec.709 for your input color space then use Rec.709
@@meliorstudios awesome thank you so much! In camera I am shooting HLG-3 and the BT2020 color mode. I will try out your suggestion of using Rec2020 as input color space and rec2100 HLG as input gamma. Thank you!!!!
🙏🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤
🙌
hey im new to this but im using iphone 12 and sony zv-1, the video looks overexposed and grainy and the skin tone is kind of orange. overall it just does not look great, any idea how i can fix this? i've switched the input color space and gamma to rec.709
Hey! For the iPhone 12 footage the input color space and input gamma should be Rec.709, correct! Have you tried using the Exposure node and going to the offset primary wheel and turning it down? And if the the skin is looking too orange you can turn on NS matrix. Let us know how you get on!
For the Sony ZV-1 are you shooting on any specific picture profiles?
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks
Whenever I apply this grade, my skin tones are immediately tomato red. Lol. Not sure how you ended up with perfect skin tones so quickly.
Hey Taylor! Try turning on and off the NS Matrix
If your skin tones are too red, just bring the saturation down and if the skin tones are too washed out what you could do is go into the hue vs hue and adjust it from there!
Or go to the den+sub mode and turn off skin 2. That helped me!
Reds on Slog 3 are really weird looking, are there any settings i should look at?
What camera are you using?
@@meliorstudios FX30!
For your input gamma and color space did you put : Slog3 and Sgamut3 ? (Ensuring your shooting on PP8)
How i remove the davinci resolve watermark ? I have the free version :(
Just turn off the film grain node and it just disappear! We have free film grain overlays on our website that you can use as a work around!
Hi I have a question, today I bought cineprint16. But every time when I add the grade, there's text (davinci resolve studio) all over the video. Do you know how to remove this? Thankyou
Hi! Yes this is because you have the free version of Davinci which means you can’t use film grain. If you turn the film grain node off the watermark should disappear. We have free film grain overlays in our store that you can use to overcome the problem
@@meliorstudios aah okay, thank you! I'll try this :)
you can’t save a lut to your downloads you made?
You can! Save it as a 33 point cube LUT and it’ll save in your LUT folder
i bought cineprint 16 but it says i need to have daVinci studios
Hey Jay! All you have to do is turn off the Film grain node and it’ll remove the watermark! We have free film grain in our bio that you can download and overlay on top of your clip to get around the issue. Let us know if it works
ive downloaded your film grain but how do i install them?
You simply import it into your media pool and place it on top of your clip then switch the composite type. We have a full tutorial on the film grain page you downloaded it from
@@meliorstudios I did it TY!
Its the Tom Bolles power grade?
Correct!
Is cineprint 16 powergrade compatible with ipad version of davinci resolve?
Yes it is! Just save Cineprint to your files or any cloud drive such as dropbox or google drive and you'll be able to directly import cineprint from there into davinci resolve for ipad
I am actually using it on my iPad Pro and It works flawless ❤
can anyone send me the cineprint16 please?
I got the Powergrade but my Halation node doesn't do anything at all :( Any advice?
Hey! This could be down to the clip you’re using and if it’s bright enough for the halation to kick in. But first thing to do is if you follow the steps from at 2:40 on the video and open up the halation node, drag the blur radius up as shown at 3:28 of the video and it’ll start increasing the strength of the halation. Off not much is happening then increase your exposure and see if that does anything. However if not much is happening then the clip you’re using may not have any strong enough light sources. But to double check try it on a different clip that has a lot of light sources and light bokeh
@@meliorstudios Thank you! Sometimes when I pump the highlights up, black squares appear in the hottest areas, but I can't see halation per se. I think it might be the last thing you said. I'm using an exterior shot/daylight overcast day, so maybe there are not enough strong light sources. I'll keep tweaking it.
@@meliorstudios Also, my Halation node has like two versions; the one in this video appears as "Old Ver.", and the one's active is a larger Node Tree, so I was confused at that part too.
Yes halation doesn’t tend to show on overcast clips too much but try brighter sunlight or artificial lights visible it should start showing
And ah yeah, there’s a version 1 which is the old version (link here to tutorial: ruclips.net/video/KVQpLqf0kPw/видео.html ) and version 2. We recommend you just use version 2 and follow this tutorial
Thanks for the tutorial :) Is it possible to use Cineprint16 V2.0 on free version of davinci? Or do I need studio version?
Hi! Yes you can but you’ll have to turn off the film node and the Denoise node and then it’s good to go for the free version. Can then just use film grain overlays on top to replace the In built grill grain fx
@@meliorstudios Awesome! Can we use this on the ipad version? Thanks
How come no powergrade is popping up. It says I purchased it. You don’t have to have studio do you
Hey Darius! You have to first import it into your powergrade folder. Just right click in the powergrades bin on the color page, select import and click the powergrade and it’ll import in
@@meliorstudios i figured it out. thank you
guys! why are you switched to canon not sony? dissapointed! :D
We haven't switched! This footage we used to test the 4K on the Canon R5 but little does everyone know we've just upgraded to the Sony A7Siii (but only you know)
@@meliorstudios im in the a7s iii family, good to see you here! :D
