I always remember a pretty little goth gal dancing to this at my party can't remember her name ...What ever happened to the friends of my youth ...It's very sad how time flies 😞
I’ve loved tears for fears for a little over a year now, and just at 13 I feel like their music has so much more meaning than it seems. The lyrics are so wonderful and mean alot
This is one of my favorite songs ever. Tears For Fears is definitely my favorite band of all time and I’m 13. (Only put that bc it surprises some people) Edit: I’m now 15 and still love this song!
I remember after getting their 1st album the hurting there was such a long break between their next album that when this single came out, I just loved it so much. I was just dying for a new song from Tears for Fears at that time.
It's a relatively neglected track, as apparently, despite the band's misgivings about its release, the record company grabbed and ran with it as a follow on from the 1st album's smash hits, as it was the first new thing Roland wrote after The Hurting, and was put out in something of a rush! If I remember rightly, Roland said he reckoned it didn't deserve to go any higher than 24 in the UK charts, as it justly reflected the time/effort/quality of the track (which they'd perhaps envisaged as more of a B-side), but I think it's very well put together, even if it's not quite up to TFF's usual gold standard.
@@NatalieNicole2222 Thats the great thing about music or art or food etc etc. No opinion can be right or wrong and TFF's would love the fact you love it. Personally, I like the song but it seems a little disjointed. I think most successful bands have a 'hit' single that they didnt particularly like. The one that comes to mind for me is Every Breath You Take, which I believe is brilliant but which Sting refers to as a 'horrible little ditty about possession. I think the song is very, very sinister and ugly and people have actually misinterpreted it as being a gentle little love song, when it's quite the opposite." Even Stewart Copland opined, "In my humble opinion, this is Sting's best song with the worst arrangement. I think Sting could have had any other group do this song and it would have been better than our version-except for Andy's brilliant guitar part. Basically, there's an utter lack of groove. It's a totally wasted opportunity for our band. Even though we made gazillions off of it, and it's the biggest hit we ever had." Go figure.
one of their best songs and super underrated in their catalog, I remember it came out on a single, not part of an album and thought that's when they got to their best output, after that, it was downhill in terms of originality
By that point The Hurting had long since been released, this song was a bridge single between two albums. TFF we’re quality over quantity, this song was intended to keep the public entertained until Songs from the Big Chair was released. Both Curt and Roland have come to detest the song, it was the only time they bowed to the pressure of the record companies to keep the attention of the masses. Personally I think it’s phenomenal despite their opinions.
@@chapmanstickman They seems to hate a lot of their own songs, especially the hits. Not their fault because radio had to run the song to death but I recall Curt saying in 1989 that he was already sick of playing Sowing the Seeds of Love. There have been other instances.

I'm so anal about this band atm that I went away and checked! You are quite right, they played Hammersmith Odeon 2 nights running, and the 15th December 1983 was, indeed, a Thursday! Was it a good night?

Amazed by Curt Smith's beauty
Me espanta tbm. Que sonho que ele é.❤❤❤
i don't care what they say this song rocks
Concordo!❤😊
Roland looks adorable in his overalls

Ignoring for a moment how good the song is, orzabal and smith's high harmony is sheer perfection.
THEY ARE LIP SYNCING BTW
And Curt is an angel sent from heaven
Foi enviado pra mim!❤
Really love Curt Smith's singing voice alot
2 young men realizing their dream.so proud of them.
This is the first time that I see Roland playing the keyboard ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The Bass... The Bass... Wonderful!!!
It sure is but no sign of a bass in the video.
He's true beauty
Está falando do Curt?
Curt Smith is perfect ♡
Yes. Curt was just delectable here!
Roland was! Still is! 😆❤️😘
Idem. Curt es un angel bello. Tear For Fears son lo maximo. Bella imagen de introduccion. Gracias.💋💋💋💋🌻🌻🌻🌻🌏🐬🐬🐬🐬TEARS FOR FEARS.
No Roland is always the best!

The Drums so superb!!! A mighty song plus the Orzabal dance!!!!! 1983 wow!!!!
Great song! Underrated for sure!
Personally I would be very happy if this was re-released. Love to see curt feeling the music and roland as always is a joy to watch
I saw an article on line naming the top 10 most beautiful men in music from the eighties. Curt Smith came in at number 7
Por mim, ele ficaria em 1o lugar!
Y Roland 😌
Que voz é essa do Kurt? Grossa e linda demais!❤❤❤

What has happened to the friend that I once knew has she gone away ?
Absolutely my favorite TFF song. It's lyrics meant so much to me as a 20 year old in 1983.

Yeah I’m 12 about to be 13 on December 20th. I’m in LOVE with them. I play music also
Na pandemia, ouvi muitas músicas deles e inclusive essa, minha filha tinha 3 anos e até hoje, já que vai fazer 6 anos ainda canta shout

Great song..I remember that they didn't like the song and only released it because the record executives told them they had to....
the best song

Curt...wow!!!
A Nice 👍 mixture of Drums 🪘🥁 and Synth Keyboards 🎹
classic song
what another great tune

only reached 24 in the charts

@@jennytaylor4165 yeah I remember that! And agree with you this songs rulez
It was brilliant you had conflict and Marauders on the b side of the 12inch version which are gloomy tracks
Have to disagree......up against their best stuff it stands rather ordinary in my opinion
This upload is immaculate. Fantastic sound quality, and perfect visuals. Good job!
Forever 80 s Creative Music all time
I love this!!! 😍
Roland Orzabel and Ian Stanley two of the keyboard players here. The third one, the guy wearing the glasses, I think is their Producer, Chris Hughes.
I was just about to ask.
@@carolmccrillis6930 It's Andy Davies, ex-Korgis, who went on to play on Songs From The Big Chair.
I remember dancing to this my walk man on in front of a mirror with a hair brush in my hand before going to bed I was 12 then...
Prince❤️❤️👑
How did this not get to number 1?
According to TFF's its 'the worst thing we've done'. Maybe that had something to do with it.
They wrote the music before the lyrics and they said they didn't want to do it like that

Rolandの髪型かわいい((o(。・ω・。)o))

this is 1985, rolands hair is too long to be 1983, and this hairstyle was only worn in 85'
Nope, Roland dramatically changed his hair just prior to this single being released which was around November 83
There is 3 keyboard synths 1 drum kit and 1 singer and no ones playing the guitars?
No bass in sight yet it is clearly heard throughout the song and that is not a synth bass.
This was lip synced. Regardless, nice seeing them play this song l8ve.
