Tears For Fears is soo underrated in my opinion….. I don’t understand how they aren’t more talked about due to their massive contribution especially due to The Hurting.
It seems like a million years ago that music was this good, but when I first started listening to TFF, this recording was only a decade old....looking back at the last 10 years of my life, it seems like a flash in the pan, but when I first heard this song, it seemed like it was recored eons before. Funny how getting old will do that to you. When you are 12, a few years is a life time, when you're 30, ten years is a second.
Interesting how all of us for the most part now admire how great this song turned out to be, guess it took 34 years to get to that. Wonder how songs will be admired in the next 34 years.
The Way You Are was not included on the original release of The Hurting in 1983 as it was a new song that they composed whilst they were touring after The HUrting came out. But the 12" version was included on the remastered CD of The Hurting in 1999.
Underrated song and very good version. This is actually better then the actual recording and sounds much more complete. TFF might have said this song was their worst but compared to most songs out today like "Party Like a Rockstar" and that Disney stuff, they make the song look amazing, though it always was.
this is the song!! that got my attention back in late 1982, early 1983. Didnt know who they we at all...but love the new sound. It will take 2 more years to know TFF.
This was an elusive song that rarely played on the radio at the time. It haunted me, I was always obsessed with this song. I would drop everything and race to radio to turn it up and linger over every word and note.
one of their best songs and super underrated in their catalog, I remember it came out on a single, not part of an album and thought that's when they got to their best output, after that, it was downhill in terms of originality
especially the chorus, it sounds different and i'm really liking it, even the lyrics are different, i'm thinking this is an early incarnation of this song...
No! There were right in their time. I see the different videos of the 80ies bands and in many places I see this expression "ahead of their time". thompson twins, depeche mode, ultravox... Did they sound like 90ies? No. These were the great 80ies, the best decade in music. Where are now all these instruments - Chapman`s stick, headless bass, hexdrums, e-bow etc.?
damm, feel like a 14year old again, back then i looked like curt & dance like roland, hehe, got to agree man, that's the best lineup, w/ manny & ian, tff was never the same after SFTBC, they moved backward instead of forward w/ the boring seeds of love, save for a couple of songs, when tff got back on track w/ great records elemental, raoul, ELAHE, casual fans were nowhere, sayang, ay pinoy din ko mga tols...
@lilodevil Well Roland did. And I think Curt did. But by the time they were 28 and 29 Curt was getting burnt out and not really enjoying the band as well as he had in past years. :(
it's alright. it does seem like they put it together in a day or something and said 'ah, screw it.' and put it on the hurting's b-side. i like the lyrics but it's not really complex like their other songs? i'm not sure. it sorta sounds like mad world now that i think about it.
this is an amazing song. too bad they think it's their worst. its truly ahead of its time.
maybe they didnt like how keybd-sample-heavy it is
I think it's one of thier best imo
honestly my favorite one from them
I hope they perform this when they are on tour this summer😊
Uma música tão boa... Umas das minhas favoritas
Damn... there is no word to explain how amazing is this song live, no need to add more compliments, tears for fears are THE BAND.
Luis Ramos Is* the band. Not are.

I have always loved this song had the extended version in the eighties on vinyl never stopped playing it awesome.
one of the most underrated songs ...

remember writing this?
Clever Metaphor vaguely, I was drinking a lot back then. Now I’m a couple months away from being 40. Sober now though.
@@Dunkaroos248 34 and mostly sober now too :) still love coming back to this video though. But yes, feeling time get shorter every year still.
Does anyone else notice Curt's pelvis thrust while he sings?
Martylovescats Oh baby!! Lol!
Oh ya! 💟
Wtf is goin on on yo head
this band are so talented, then and now!
Excellent live version. One of their better songs that routinely gets lost in the fray of the bigger hits.
bands like this should get back together to bring the 80s back so this so call "musicians" know what real music is.
They did get back together.
Curt rejoined Roland in 99'
So over 20 years ago now..

My favourite TFF song. Love the intricate rhythm

awww, when they were younger
it sounds so cool in this live production, very different from the album... more tribal and straightforward sounding!
the percussion on this track is so incredible!

I forgot all about this amazing song 😩😩now I have rediscovered it and it is still amazing
he is saying "to tomorrow, to tomorrow, to tomorrow, climb the ladder..."
too bad they hate this song to me it's one of thier best song imo i used it to my high school dance and everybody loves it
Very Nice discovery of Tears for Tears early years. they truly are Unique and So Talented

I was 6 when this song was out and I loved it even though I wasn't quite old enough to understand it.
the riddim of the drums is so adicctive so good man!! i love tears for fears!!
I heard this song when I was kid and my goodness still one of my favorites.
This is epic.
Im adicted to this song. idk why. But seriously It's a little clandestine... still gives me a major impassive look
My boys ... Forever LOVE 'N TEARS 🎶
And again 🖤
Esse vídeo merecia milhões de visualizações !!
Esta música ao vivo neste show ficou melhor do que a de estúdio!
3 lps in 9 years but worth the wait.
Curt dislikes this song the most out of any he did. Watch his interviews... It was just basically experimental
It's a great song. One of my favorites from Martial, Saturn and Lunatic.

"Getting better" and "much better" well thats what were on the lyrics in Smash Hits back in the day haha
this song fits perfectly into 83 New Wave synthpop
Is this available on VHS, DVD, laserdisc, or CED? It's professionally taped & I'd love to see the full concert.
Great so g
was written nov 83 i believe
@lilodevil Well Roland did. And I think Curt did. But by the time they were 28 and 29 Curt was getting burnt out and not really enjoying the band as well as he had in past years. :(
your welcome!
Love the kids work we see it
Well, according to the U.K. Amazon website The Hurting had The Way You Are on it.
CelesteK
Yes. I just got their album The Hurting, and the extended version of this is one of the four bonus tracks.
you're welcome :)
They disowned this track, this ain't a great version to be fair but the single version is excellent as good as anything they released
@lilodevil A lot of people, actually. Why does it matter when they chose to get married?
This was on "The Hurting" which was their first album.
Whats up with the different band members. All videos have different players.
Touring Musicians.
Tears For Fears at its Core is just Curt and Roland
But did you have the U.S. release or the U.K. release? Because I seem to remember it being on the U.K. release.
Play there recombinated version this is better
I thought the video broke at the end but it was just Curt lingering on the mic lol
it's alright. it does seem like they put it together in a day or something and said 'ah, screw it.' and put it on the hurting's b-side. i like the lyrics but it's not really complex like their other songs? i'm not sure. it sorta sounds like mad world now that i think about it.
whats the guitarist saying in the chorus?!?! lol
この曲歌うの難しいだろうな・・・。カートだからこそ歌えてる。
Hm, I understood... let it be.
who's playing bass ?

Song*
babadada
Ohh okay. I wasn't sure what the hell he was talking about.
Whilst not a real hit , a very good song. Shame the band diss it
who's playing bass?
Wait yeah who's playing bass?
