They have been getting some credit the last several years! :-) A Star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and recently the California Hall Of Fame!
I was in a cover band for a bit, and this one absolutely killed. Most cover bands don't use keys so we got to really impress people by doing the synth/keys parts. And I'm a stickler for getting the sounds as close to original as perfect, so we got some comments about that too :D
Love the Go Gos, and watching this video I feel for Charlotte Caffey, because it appears she’s impaired. I understand she had a really serious heroin addiction. I have had a chronic pain situation, and totally understand becoming dependent on drugs (whether legal or illegal) is a situation that’s easy to fall into. God bless the Go Gos for hanging in there through difficult times. Their music is becoming more appreciated with the passage of time.
This was so much fun to dance to in the 80's. I still love it now. Watching this as a 50 year old and no longer a teenager, I can appreciate how truly talented each one of them are. Glad I grew up on this music.
The Talk Show Album is a very underrated polished album. What I love about the Go Gos, is that the music evolved each album but without losing the go gos sound. These ladies should have been in the rock and roll hall of fame 10 years ago.
I'm impressed with their musical abilities, the drumming is so clean, piano, rhythm, and bass guitar is amazing. How they have not been inducted in the rock n roll hall of fame until now is strange.
@@ricmarc7156 25 years after first recording, they allready fullfilled that for quite some years! But I whant to add that the problem is less with people controlling the Hall and more with the voting body.
almost brings me to tears hearing this. I was in 8th grade and had the world ahead of me and was so excited listening to tunes like this. It's right before the reality of life(and love) fall on you like a ton of bricks. want to recapture that time. but it's not possible, so you just listen to the song, close eyes, and remember.
Tell me about it. I was watching the doc on Showtime about the Go Go's and realized it will be 40 years since Beauty and the Beat next year. Where did my life go?
Most of her basslines were badass. Very often it seemed the bass was the "lead" guitar on a lot of GoGos songs. In a lot of ways Kathy was ike a female John Entwistle (The Who).
@@DarthAverage Guitar is her main instrument and she only started playing bass when she joined the Go-Go's... I've witnessed her guitar playing with Bluebonnets and she can absolutely jam out!

The Go-Go's - The best all-girl band in music history and no band is close to them. They rocked the 1980s and they are now in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Love them!
Idk. Have you ever heard Luscious Jackson's first 2 records? I agree everything the GoGos dropped was a big deal when it went down. You can't include acts like Heart or Veruca Salt, because of the men in these bands, so I agree with you. Just because they weren't my favorite doesn't mean they don't deserve that title.

Born '83, but love the 80's as If I was there. Huge belinda fan all my life, but only heard of the go-gos recently. This is like finding out your favourite dramatic actor is ten years older than you thought, and has a whole career in comedy and musicals that you didn't know about! It's awesome!
Drummer makes it look effortless. There where pop bands back then standing in a row while the band played, but I always bugged my sister to play the Go Go's, and the Bangles because they had something above and beyond the other girl bands, TALENT, and the dedication to play an instrument.
Being a college freshman in 1981 when the Go Gos were coming on to the music scene, I really liked their sound. At that time, “cool” guys would not admit to liking “girly” bands. All my male friends in the dorm (college dorms were mostly all male or all female at that time) liked groups like the Police, Journey, Boston, the J. Giles Band, and classic bands like the Beatles and Rolling Stones. So, I listened to the Go Gos in my car on whenever I was alone. All 5 ladies are terrific in their own right. Drummer Gina Schock really tightened up their songs and was underrated.

.....I remember the build up moment when MTV launched. .....the VJs were partying as the countdown started, and yeah I think V killed the radio star was playing.
I was 32 in 1984 and used to listen to this song on my portable radio in my patrol car (the city had removed the car radios because they didn't want us listening to music while on patrol. They just had the police radio in the cars.) while cruising the streets of the town I worked in on the graveyard shift. Made 8 hours of mostly no radio calls more enjoyable.
The paid there dues and earned their stripes in a male dominated industry. Made hella great music...Their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction is long over due.
I LOOOOOVE this song!!!! I love their music and this is my favorite Go-Go's song. I'm so grateful to have been a teenager in the 80s. When I watch music videos or listen to songs from the 80s, it makes me extremely nostalgic. I really wish I could go back and re-live it all over again. AWESOME TEENAGE MEMORIES ❤❤❤❤❤
Music from the mid 50s - early 90s was the Golden Age of popular music. Commercial interests got too involved after that, and a subsequent decline in music as a whole occurred. Love the Go-Go's and so much more from the 80s!😍
Awesome band, " punk" pop ? They had their own sound and genre. I had a few secret listens and these ladies were one of them. A dude in the 80's seemed to be all metal all the time, however we appreciated good tunes.
This was a cut from their third studio album, "TALK SHOW." The song was written by CHARLOTTE CAFFEY (guitarist/keyboardist) and KATHY VALENTINE (bassist). JANE WIEDLIN, the rhythm guitarist for the band, has named the track as her favourite GO-GO's song and compared it to a "little pop truffle of chocolate that's just utterly amazing." The first single off the album was, fittingly, "Head Over Heels." It peaked at number eleven in the United States and became a Go-Go's classic.
Definitely amongst the cream of classic rock and roll songs. This good ol video keeps me loving and appreciating these beautiful ( chics) , this video patters my heart just as it did way back. When I heard this song I bought the great album. 💕 ❤
I can't tell you how badly I miss lively, upbeat, colorful, spirited Pop music like this! The music acts of the 1980s were incredibly masterful at coming up with perfect little clear melodies like this, even more so than the Pop music acts of the 1960s (whom they took their cue from). I think it is impossible for someone like me, who grew up listening to such cheerful melodic Pop music to be able to adapt to modern music today. It's just not possible. It would be like eating Filet mignon and fresh lobster tail every day for a decade, and then having to eat a cold bowl of used gravy with a hair in it every decade afterwards.

They have been getting some credit the last several years! :-) A Star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and recently the California Hall Of Fame!
I personally think that this is the best go-go song, just love it.
I saw their Book, these Women really worked to get where they got🎸

@@EconAtheist bring back the CP80!!

My older sister got me hooked on them. THANKS, SIS!!!!
Good sister there
Belinda is the star, no doubt about it. The camera just loves her...she just lights it up every time she comes on.
And yet Jane is easily more beautiful.
That Gretch is badass.
This song still resonates ..It is iconic...it is real...I still shiver with goosebumps as the song starts...
Just like I never get over the Our Lips Are Sealed / LA video - one-of-a-kind!!!!!

First time i heard it. Good song.
Very nice song
Belinda before the plastic surgery. Oh my
I WILL SAY IT AGAIN,,,,AS A PROGRESSIVE BASS PLAYER I AM,,,,,THIS GAL KNOWS HOW TO PLAY THE BASS,,,PERIOD.
This was so much fun to dance to in the 80's. I still love it now. Watching this as a 50 year old and no longer a teenager, I can appreciate how truly talented each one of them are. Glad I grew up on this music.
except Carlisle - they could have kicked her out and been better off - with all the drama and conflict her female jealousy caused
Exact same here!!! ❤❤❤
Probably the biggest all-girl group since the Supremes?
I WAS BORN 1975 BUT ALWAYS LIKE 80 MUSIC FOREVER IN MI LIFE
Belinda Carlisle is absolutely gorgeous and the music 🎶 is great
The bass line of this song is simply adorable!
I’ve always been mostly into hard abrasive music, metal and punk, but the Go-Gos were special.
The Talk Show Album is a very underrated polished album. What I love about the Go Gos, is that the music evolved each album but without losing the go gos sound. These ladies should have been in the rock and roll hall of fame 10 years ago.
I'm surprised they weren't inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame earlier that this, too. Definitely a well deserved recognition!
As teen in the '80s this was a party staple! So many fun memories!
Life was good then for sure!
I'm impressed with their musical abilities, the drumming is so clean, piano, rhythm, and bass guitar is amazing. How they have not been inducted in the rock n roll hall of fame until now is strange.
says a lot about those who control the rock n roll hall of fame
THEY ARE IN NOW FINALLY.
It’s just straight up misogyny. Pat Benatar is STILL not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! She had the second video ever played on MTV, FFS! 🤬
there are eligibility rules. so many years after such and such.
@@ricmarc7156 25 years after first recording, they allready fullfilled that for quite some years! But I whant to add that the problem is less with people controlling the Hall and more with the voting body.

Tengo 62años y las sigo escuchando enero 2024
almost brings me to tears hearing this. I was in 8th grade and had the world ahead of me and was so excited listening to tunes like this. It's right before the reality of life(and love) fall on you like a ton of bricks. want to recapture that time. but it's not possible, so you just listen to the song, close eyes, and remember.
Almost painful
Yes take me back. Ill make all the right choices. Promise.

Joy life to the fullest
Tell me about it. I was watching the doc on Showtime about the Go Go's and realized it will be 40 years since Beauty and the Beat next year. Where did my life go?
Kathy Valentine's bass riff on this track is absolute fire.
Agreed, underrated rhythm section
Most of her basslines were badass. Very often it seemed the bass was the "lead" guitar on a lot of GoGos songs. In a lot of ways Kathy was ike a female John Entwistle (The Who).
@@brianstockwell1885 not really under rated considering that they are in the Rock and roll Hall of Fame... I think you mean under appreciated.
@@DarthAverage way hotter 🔥!!!!!! Sorry John!

The Go-Go's - The best all-girl band in music history and no band is close to them. They rocked the 1980s and they are now in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Love them!
Bangles loser.🤣🤣
What about The Bangles?
Amazing that they just got into Rock and Roll HOF

A kick ass song where every instrument and vocals are clearly heard. That piano solo is something else.

Played their own instruments, wrote their own songs, sang their own songs with no autotune, remember when music was good?

How does any of those things make the music better?
Yeah ,but i also remember when they were a punk group,so they sold out just a little.
@@passion4posh what do you mean sold out?
Like "Band-Maid " today does.
LOve it! I was a High school senior in 1980! memories...........................

I love how they all have protagonism in this video, like it's not just about the singer like in other bands.
The Go-Go's have this really cool, soothing, effect... Something about 80's music that makes me feel at ease!

Yep, good times!!!

Great song!! One of the greatest female bands ever! ❤
