Great tips. As someone whos travelled around Europe for 3 months when I was in college, and multiple more trips over the past 25 years, your packing list is spot on!
💯 I watched over 100 videos on how to pack light for a long trip.... THIS IS THE BEST AND ONLY REASONABLE VIDEO!!! Straight to the point, and very logical! Thank you!
Watching this video from my hostel in Milan and just wanted to say this video series has been excellent. You've put a lot of thought into the videos and the content is tremendously valuable to someone making a similar trip. It's a wonderful thing that we can share knowledge and experiences and help each other to learn and avoid pitfalls online in this way. Keep up the good work - excited to see what's next for you!
Hey Noah, just wanted to say thank you so much for making this video, it has helped me a lot as a first time backpacker. I leave for the UK tomorrow! I'm already subscribed, hope your channel grows very quickly.
Excellent video, young man. 1. Re your bag: Agree completely. Theft preventer also. On a vacay w/kids, my oldest son selected the slightly larger one. He backpacked it, walked comfortably hands free but rest of us had wheeled luggage (small/med) and it was a bumpy struggle when the hostels were far from the airport. 2. Re passport, yes make a copy but also leave a copy with family as well. FYI you're only allowed 1 replacement passport, per my info so be aware. 3. Good that you traveled with a partner. And I'd link family to an app that can see your location. Finally 4. All your clothes look easy to wash by hand & air dry quickly, too. To travel even lighter, buy any/everything at local goodwills or stores and then donate them back before flying home. Be Safe!
Good point in the passport! I also didn’t realized you’re allowed one replacement. That’s good info. I didn’t think about buying stuff at goodwills and donating the clothes before flying home. That’s a cool idea! Thanks for watching!
@@noahanderson14 You are welcome. Also, Get address to each embassy in your plans, advise ETA, then check in w/them once there..in case. I'm still trying to verify # of pp copies. Be Safe! Have fun.
awsome video mate, I saw the first one before you left and ive been really enjoying following where you've been travelling to,looks like you had the best time thanks for the great video
No it isn't... he sucks at what he is doing and is trying to make it look more complicated than it is. People can pack for a trip... you have all done it. This isn't complicated and you arent going to be away from civilization, anything you need you can buy. Are you really this slow or do you just think that people that you think are good looking can do no wrong?
Hi,@@thomgizziz ! My intention is not to make the packing process look more complicated. If anything, I was hoping that my video would help simplify the process. I made this video to showcase how condensed you can pack for a trip if you put the necessary time and thought into it. I would like to counter your reply though in that I believe that packing for a 3-month backpacking trip is quite complicated. This is another reason I made this video. I was super unsure of what to pack and how I was going to fit it all into a 40L backpack going into my trip. To me, this sort of video would have been super helpful, had I seen it before my trip. But obviously, to each their own. You are welcome to disagree with me. However, I think it's important to be incredibly intentional about each item, because otherwise it's super easy to overpack, and for me I wanted to keep my bag as light and small as possible to both save money and save effort in lugging around this bag everywhere I went. And I also wanted to be sure that I had everything that I might need. And you are totally right! I'm not "away from civilization" when you're backpacking Europe. You can buy anything you may need. But I'd like to counter this point too in that if you plan on buying extras when you get to your destination(s), you may be prone to overpack going into that, and you will also use some of your travel time to go and buy things. Also, a lot of the items may be different! For instance, I'm used to American toothpaste. I bought some toothpaste in Austria, and I don't really enjoy the way it tastes. Obviously, this is not the end of the world, but it is nice to have the comfort of the products that you're used to going into a trip like this. Embarking on a trip like this can be super nerve racking at first. I was totally nervous when I landed in Portugal. I also made this video to alleviate some of those nerves and stress for others. Obviously, it's not helpful to you, which is totally cool. I appreciate your comment regardless.
I can’t believe that you turned down the chipotle! 😂 Great video - anyone with an upcoming backpack trip should watch all of this video for some great tips.

Yeah for sure! Your best bet is to lay them out as big as possible. For me, that generally meant placing them outside of a packing cube towards the top of my bag. Fold it in the standard way (how you would see a shirt at the store) and it won’t get quite as wrinkly. That’s probably your best bet.

Hello Noah, from Ouray, Colorado! Thank you very much for sharing your experiences with your Osprey travel backpack, as well as what you packed. Ha....many of the channels out there tout these $100 t-shirts that are made from merino wool; and you kill it with some performance shirts. I walk a LOT for my daily exercise as I'm a broken retired army guy and can't run any more. My $12 synthetic shirts from walmart serve me well. I wouldn't necessarily carry those as I'm sure I'd get booted from some nicer restaurants hehehe. Did you find that the quantities of shirts and shorts/pants worked out for you on your trip? Safe travels. I'll check out your vlogs of your travels.
Performance shirts are the way to go! Mine were around that same $12 price range, lol. I personally didn't have any issues with restaurants kicking me out for not being fancy enough, but I also typically opted for the cheaper options 😅. My clothes consisted of 1 Raincoat 1 Thin Polyester Quarter-Zip Two Long Sleeve Athletic Fit (Polyester) Shirts 5 T-Shirts (4 Polyester, 1 Cotton) 1 Swimsuit 4 Pairs Polyester Shorts 2 Pairs of Pants (1 Khaki, 1 Casual Sweat Style) and honestly that was perfect for me. I usually rewore each piece of clothing once and would wash my clothes every 10 days or so. Hope that helps!
@@noahanderson14 Hi there! That is all really awesome information! Thank you very much for taking the time to list it out! For me, if I've showered in the evenings after the days events, it is not like I would be turbo funky after then next day's events. I call it a "clean sweat", so to speak. It's not like I'd be camping for 7 days and trying to do downtown visits during that time hehehe. So, even with the cheaper polyester type shirts, I should be able to score a second wear out them; maybe a day or two later. So, I do travel for my work. And the beauty is I am only on duty to get my boss to a location and then to get him back home; I'm off in between. Therefore, I can practice a cloths set up during my work trips, basically. Instead of traveling with a suitcase, I could transition to backpack life and refine on the fly, so to speak. I do have to wear a collared button up shirt for our travel days. Aside from that, I mostly walk and explore......or go hiking, where ever we are at.
@@noahanderson14 And thank you very much for such a nice comment! What I tell people is that "regardless of what the news says, we do live in a great country. Obviously, there are things that really need some house cleaning; but overall, we have things, privileges, and rights that other countries never will".
I would take it off and use it to lock up my stuff in hostels! Some hostels will provide locks but most will just provide a locker and you will need a padlock if you want to secure your belongings.
Great for summer but in winter items dont dry overnight etc. I need warm clothes in bag too. Aiming for a 30l backpack with no other bag. Will be a challenge. Last time ended up leaving and donating a case behind of winter stuff...plus my laptop which wiped off all my photos on cloud and webstick failed.. next time will just use memory cards. Cant carry much but will avoid losing my bag again!! Great tips thank you. Yes hostels had soap but preferred my own.. My priority would be stock of asthma inhalers as too costly to buy on the road plus a nice microfibre towel as never great in hostels..❤ One question do you use esim? Ftom Uk only reasonable flights are 1 bag only unless you pay priority!
Just a 30L bag is quite impressive! Sorry to hear about your laptop. I kept an external hard drive on me in addition to my sd cards. It was nice to have that peace of mind that my footage was backed up just in case. I did use esim! I went with the T-mobile international plan. And yeah, limiting yourself to one carry on bag is a great move. It helps you avoid extra fees and keeping your load light is always a good move! :)
I don't, I actually got it as a gift. It is by "CacTechs". I would just price shop though, mine worked fine but I doubt that theres one brand thats better then the others.
did you use this bag in intercontinental flights like ryan air or wizz? did it fit in those steel frames/trays where the make you put in your bags to check size?
I used it on all 6 of my flights! I flew TAP Air Portugal, ITA Airways, and Ryan Air! I was never asked to put it into those steel frames! I think they only resort to that if your bag is clearly over the size limit. When you tuck the straps away with this bag, it looks quite small, which is why I think I never had an issue. When I measured it myself though, it was either at the carry-on limit or over it. Again, I don't think airlines will regularly check your bag dimensions unless it is egregious.
Hi! I’ve really been enjoying the series. Heading to Europe this week. How do you recommend not overspending sightseeing in cities? Do you feel like by not going inside certain places you missed out on something, or do you think it was worth saving however much you did?
Honestly I never felt like I missed out when I skipped something. There were only usually like 1 or 2 things I wanted to do in each city and I always did those things. I also based it off of what I heard from others at the hostels. Big tip though is to bring your student card if you have one. You can save a lot of money at the sightseeing spots. But I definitely skipped a lot of stuff but I have no regrets. I think it’s very possible to do on a budget.
I’m actually working on a cost break down video right now. Ultimately I spent around $300 on excursions and sightseeing. Which breaks down to a bit over $4 a day. I also visited some really touristy areas, and saw so much stuff. I would just recommend prioritizing the stuff you want to see for sure and then go from there and see where your budget is at. Hopefully this helps!
I believe so! I had no issues. My razor was a disposable razor though. I just bought a pack of them when I got to Rome and used them up over the course of the trip. I would check with the airlines you’re flying to be sure but I had no issues. Hope that helps!
Yes! Assuming you are bringing a disposable razor. Check the "Sharp objects" section here. www.nationwide.com/lc/resources/home/articles/tsa-carry-on-rules#:~:text=The%20TSA%20permits%20a%20few,on%20the%20plane%20with%20you.@@markholden9147
Favorite city was Budapest! The architecture is so spectacular and just such cool vibes. Favorite country was Greece! I loved the food and Athens is so dope. Also did some Island hopping, and that was so fun. It was all so cool though compared to what I'm used to. Such a dope trip.
Do you mind me asking how much you spent in total? I’m going for a similar amount of time in the fall and wondering how much I need to save. Love the videos!
Don’t mind at all! I’m actually not 100% sure yet - I’m guessing around 6 thousand USD. But my next video is going to be a cost breakdown video where I’ll get into specifics! So keep an eye out for that! :)
Also can you explain the Euro rail in your net video too, I think from the vlogs I saw you took trains to some places so I’m wondering if the 2 month pass is worth the money, I would prefer to fly than the train. I can’t decide
Fair enough! And yes I was thinking of doing a Eurail pass explanation video as well! I think the pass is worth the money. But you should check how much it costs to buy each ticket out right and compare it to how much it would cost with the pass and reservation fees. And yeah sometimes flights can be really cheap in Europe! If you spend a couple hours doing some research for your specific itinerary you can definitely find some cheap options! :)
I do t want to contradict but if you are travelling in europe, you should always get the passport with you in case you run a in a situation with the police. The ore non wstern you look, more important isthis advise unfortunately
That's actually a really valid point that I forgot about when I made this video. I had to show my passport once when on a day trip to Salzburg from Munich. I showed my ID at first and they said they needed to see a passport. I think they were looking for someone on the train. Luckily, I had brought my bag with me (and passport), so I didn't have any issues. I pretty much always kept it in my bag, which stayed on me while I was traveling (outside of intracity travel.) But definitely a valid point, thanks for sharing.
As I told you before, I feel like I was travelling with you! Thanks for the great tips!!! It was a amazing trip
Thank you! Berlin, Munich, & Paris vlogs still to come! :)

Yes! Assuming you are bringing a disposable razor. Check the "Sharp objects" section here. www.nationwide.com/lc/resources/home/articles/tsa-carry-on-rules#:~:text=The%20TSA%20permits%20a%20few,on%20the%20plane%20with%20you.@@markholden9147
Does anyone know what kind of Nike shorts he has? I really like them lol😆
I’m honestly not entirely sure what they’re specifically called, but they’re “running shorts!”
Where can i find that shoulder bag? :)
I got it at H&M!
Awrsome 🎉
Thank you! :)
What was your favorite place you visited?
Favorite city was Budapest! The architecture is so spectacular and just such cool vibes. Favorite country was Greece! I loved the food and Athens is so dope. Also did some Island hopping, and that was so fun. It was all so cool though compared to what I'm used to. Such a dope trip.
❤❤❤
:)
❤❤❤
Thanks for watching!
@@noahanderson14 thank you for the advice !
❤❤❤🎉
LFG!
Preciate the sentiment!
Cant help thinking you might look a lot more dashing if you get rid of your bangs
Yeah I need to work on my haircut😅. Not a huge fan of it either lol
