I'm planning to start with Mage, I've always been a mage guy in RPG's and such. Archers are always cool too, imo, so I'm definitely leaning towards upgrading to Magick Archer. That said, Mystic Spearhand looks REALLY cool as well, with that DMC-style combat, and I do love me hack n slash games a lot. Though my argument for myself against that, is that I've played plenty of those. Haven't really had any opportunity to play a Magick Archer type style. I may or may not dabble in Warfarer to get a taste of both and compare them more closely.
Nice video and great explanations in the vocations makes things easier in making a decision on what to choose or which to try in order of vocation. Appreciate it 👍😀
Magick Archer looks like a straight upgrade to Archer. What reason would there be to not pick it if you want to use bows? Because I personally don't enjoy what Magick Archer looks like but I love bows and am looking for a good reason to stick to the basic Archer without ruining my effectiveness regarding bow gameplay. Also, do you "ruin" an advanced Vocation by starting with a Vocation that has no ties to it? I.e. Mystic Spearhand, judging by the logo, is a Fighter-Mage Vocation mix. Will I have to start with either fighter or Mage in order to make Mystic Spearhand be good, or will I get the same end product if I start with Archer instead?
Archer has much higher mobility and dps, whereas MA is more of a static support the targets elemental weaknesses. I would say that is replaces the mage role more soo than the archer
For your 1st point, if it's anything like the first DD game, there are skills that are only available to Archer and not Magick Archer (MA). DD1 Archer can also use special arrows that explode or poison enemies, MA can not. But MA have skills that deal ice, lightning or holy damage. As for the 2nd, in DD1 your stat gain is dependent on your current class (things like HP, stamina, magic damage, physical damage etc.) so there is an element of minmaxing. But doesn't seem to be the case in DD2, so yes you get the same end result.
The trickster‘s pawn dmg buff looked pretty substantial. If the pawn AI is only slightly better than the original, which it probably is by a mile. Trickster might actually be up there with the big boys, in terms of damage
If you're prepared via alchemy with healing/buff consumables, you really don't need a Mage. My ideal party from DD1 was two sorcs synching and a Fighter with my DPS main. Solid way to go.
I´m courious how they did the "no lock on" combat with mouse & keyboard. Like the souls games, were camera rotates arround your charakter and you have to press forward and attak or block becaus you attack in the direction your char is looking. Or like Remant from the Ashes, where the camera also rotates arround your charakter, but you attak in the direction where your camera is looking. So you don´t have to press forward simultaneously. Or like good oldshool 3rd person games, where your charakter rotates with the camere, seeing your char allways from behind like BloodRayne or the original Rune. But for me it looks like the charakter have an (slight?) auto aim (wich was also mentioned in some previews), at least with some classes, and more like a Batman or Assassins Creed style combat system, wich would be a bummer. Neverseless we will see on Friday, and im exited to explore the game world. Referring to 1:25 - fighter class. As an PC and M+K gamer, we play the Souls games without auto aim - and ideally every game. We don´t have to rely on the pesky "focus" bs!

I remember from DD1 I tried all vocations and styles and spells.. and eventually settled on sorceror. But while everybody talks about maelstrom and those other huge, long casting, battle defining spells, I remember having the absolutely most fun with super basic level 3 fireball... the way it just knocked back enemies was so much goddamn fun, and was easy to use with super quick cast in close range self defense or very potent single/multitarget damage/CC on level3 charge made it the absolute goated spell in my book, useful in absolutely every scenario possible :D So most of the time, I just started with big bad super duper AOE apocalypse spell and then proceeded to mop up the rest with trusty balls of fire :D
I hope this game is fun, I can see there is a lot of potential for pain and suffering and frustration. Will see once its out and watch other people before I get it
I'll probably start with archer to see if the range feels impactful and maybe decide between warrior or magick archer since I want big damage but still be involved without waiting on spells to happen, might want my party to be archer, mage, fighter, and something else at all times for myself
Rangewr in the first game was impactful, here there is not that class but archer gained a lot of the moves from ranger so is probably going to inherit also that importance since is the only physical range damage in the game
Think about your stats too. If you want to deal the most dmg at level 200, you’re gonna have to level up using certain vocations from 1 to 10, then 10 to 50, etc. level up the smart way.
@@buffywasright if tou are refering to the old level by vocation stat switch from 1, it is confirmed stats will adjust and there wont be an issue in the order
Nice video and good explanation for the vocations. I need to correct you on one thing though, the Fighter vocation does in fact get a dodgeroll You can see it in one of the trailers for the vocations
Hi thanks for the video ! As usual great content. Just a precision : for Warfarer (as it is described on the official Dragon's Dogma 2 website), you will have access to all weapons and all spells of all classes, but at the cost of lower base stats (i guess stats like stamina, health, defense, and so on).
Doesn't the fighter roll at the 0:39 mark tho? I remember some skills in DD1 gave you s, like the roll on strider or escape slash on warrior. I wonder if any skills will give you s this time around...
Interestingly, the mystic spearhand gameplay actually resembles the thief more than the fighter, to me. So I wonder if I wanted to go Thief before switching to that, would that synergize well... 🤔 I KNOW I want to go Mystic Spearhand eventually, but I feel more intrigued by the Thief over the Fighter in the early stages.
Great video . I’m liking the mage levitation ability . In dragons dogma 2 character creation demo I created 1 mage 1 thief and 1 archer arisen I’m liking the mystic spear class .
honest question here. you can judge all you want, as long as you also help me out. I played DDDA by cheesing everything with a Sorcerer with using the staff charged attack while enchanted with light affinity. yes, absolutely shameful, but one-shotting everything is my type of fun. with that in mind, which class would have the most one-shotting/cheesing potential in this game? I've seen some videos of Thieves absolutely deleting everything with their 2 ultimate skills, but what about other classes?
There definitely have to be more, idk if its been officially announced that thats all theres going to be, but we still havent seen advanced archer, advanced thief, nor what the colors for Trickster represent. Nor a hybrid for thief
On the warfairer; the symbol has 3 weapon types on it and gameplay has shown swapping between 3 weapons. So its safe to say 3, but who knows maybe you'll only start with 2 and the 3 is a master skill. The drawback is lower base stats, you have to use situational strength and cross class combos to make it shine. Not an endgame build either since we know stats don't work the same as the first game and stats get respec when you swap vocations.
Starting off I'll be an archer, then move into Mystic Spear Hand or Magic Archer, whichever comes first. With MSH most likely being main vocation. I'm curious about Warfarer though since it kinda like a busted multi-class vocation. For example being able to have a sorcerer's firepower, spell sync with sorcerer pawns, and ability to regen your stamina quickly then switch to another 2 vocations seems broken.
They have said that warfarer has less stats than the actual classes, look at it as a mid stats in all, so it has higher than the lowest of classes but lower than the highest, also it is limited on the skills it can have from each vocation and can only switch between a few weapons at a time in combat
@@EstebanBrenesV Yeah, I totally get that it has lower base stats and for players that want them maxed it would be a deterrent. However, Warfare to me seems like the ultimate multipurpose class. You can combine vocations to make up for the weaknesses that lone vocations have, create super specialized builds, and most importantly it seems really fun switching between the various play styles during combat.
Is there any info on which starting class to play before going into trickster? I can't find any online and I'd like to know what class I should start as
I wish there was a Mystic Knight or Swordsman vocation even if it was just a minor difference to the Spearhand. Just seems weird to not have that sort of hybrid class present.
@@MoeBalingerIllustrationthey seem to want every class to have a unique playstyle and weapon, half of the classes in the base game were variations of the base 3 (except for warrior). But yeah, would be cool to have another "tank" class
@coruviel To simply just use a sword instead of the spear would be a good start. Depending on how the warfarer vocation works I may just roll with that but it would be nice to have a magic user that isn't flying around with just a spear. Even if the mage/swordsman was significantly slower than the Mystic Spearhand that would be fine. It's just annoying when the guys with spears always get cool stuff when you get stiffed if you prefer a sword.
Sorry if this has been addressed but will starting vocation prevent my choice of an advanced or hybrid class? I really want to go mystic spear so I want to make sure my starting choice doesn't prevent that.
Noob question. If I want my main pawn to be a Scorcerer in the end, is there any benefit for that main pawn to start out as a Mage rather than a Fighter ? For example, will changing the main pawn from the Mage to a Sorcerer have a more natural change because of the skills/abilities earned prior with the Mage? Or is there no real benefit so it's fine to have Fighter as main pawn than later change it to Sorcerer ?
Well, Warrior is my bread & butter +insert a "Horah Loux - WARRRRIOOORRRRR !" sample+ It always has been good to me, and that counter against the armored Cyclops makes it look like it is now even more badass than ever. Plus STANDING on a climbed Monster to do a full attack instead of pommel-bashing ? Count me In ! But the Magic Spearhand is a no-brainer, too. Obviously like a Jedi, stumbled into a fantasy world, sporting flowing combat moves and paralayzing force powers, telekinesis and acrobatics ? Looks like my favorite Monster Hunter weapon class had a love-child with a Jedi knight ! XD
How do weapons work in this game. Is it base weapons per class throughout the entire game or do you eventually find new weapons or upgrade current weapons.
Wanna start as an archer, looks like one of the few games that archer is actually fun and still strong to play. but going to have to check out the mystic spear hand for sure once I can
Yes yes and thrice yes. I have had my mystic spearhand lioness build in my head since I heard rumours of a spear class. But seeing how it focuses abit on buffing. Kind of thinking of editing her looks in The CC version of the game and make her a bit buff'er looking. And having as a tank and changing my amazonian warrior pawn to a ranged one or magic.
Does anyone know why they took mystic knight out of the game? I figured it’s a replacement for mystic spearhand, but I couldn’t really find much online to explain why
You don't think there could be some secret "hidden" vocations that haven't been revealed yet?? I could see them holding some back waiting for the community to organically discovering them in the game. I know some people were mad about some missing vocations from the first game, but in my mind it makes more sense for the devs to hold some back. I dunno just a thought.
You talked about being hard to keep using potions. In the first game you could go to that shining lake, put a teleport there. And then make all party members fill the empty bottles with the strongest potion in the game. Did we lose that in the second game?
My thief character became a god because of two move sets . 😂 The auto dodge and combustion flame man move .. with fully upgraded daggers .. it was surprisingly easy
Leaning toward archer vs fighter as my arisen to start with a thief vs mage for my pawn. Definitely going to try trickster and mystic spear hand. Those look very fun. Long term though most likely a wayfarer with a melee and ranger skillset and then probably trickster to have that extra utility
damn warfarer looks insanely fun indeed switching to whatever the situation in the moment needs the most, but also spearhand, teleporting on the back of a flying gryphon is pretty crazy and throwing stuff at them is fun
As someone from the previous game, I'm very curious on how the stat growth will work for each vocation. I know in the first DD, there were proper ways to level to get the maxed strength/magic, and I'm curious on if that consists in this game.
To be fair, based on research done by multiple people, min/maxxing wasn't too big a deal in the first game(I think it was a difference of 10% or so when it comes to damage), so I'm hoping that they continue that trend, since I am the kind of person who likes to bounce around from vocation to vocation. That said, I'm most excited for Thief and Spearhand.
Very true. The damage difference from min/maxing wasn't that dramatic. I'm on the same boat, Thief and Spearhand are my top picks. Warrior coming in a close third
They've confirmed that stat growth is locked in now. If you switch from mage to fighter, your stats will change to the stats of a fighter. This is in part the downside of the warfarer. You have access to many tools, but your stats will be lower.
@@ShnauftenThank god. Trying to build my character and having to play classes I really didn't want to just for a stat increase was my least favorite part of the first game.
I’m gonna go mage then sorcerer like I did in the first game based on what I know. But I know some of the new unrevealed classes will change my mind. Can’t wait for this one to drop.
So it says there is no dodge but,in the beginning of the video there was de fighter who done a Barrel roll and in the right corner it says if you press B (in fight mode) dash so is there for some classes a evade function like a roll or dash ? Sorry for my bad english Greetings from germany :)
Kinda curious how long it will take to get the advanced classes and how easily you can change them. Might have both my main character and pawn on a mage at the start and switch to sorcerer or mystic spearhand asap and maybe warfarer later for the flexibility
Probably Warrior and Mystic Spearhand. I want to be close to enemies in all my games and aiming with a controller with Archer classes is not my thing at all. But i'll try them at some point

This vacation was a lot of fun in the previous game, and I hope it is the same in this one as well.
The specs are out and by all indications accurate. The game is pushing the computing power of current gen consoles so performance will be a bit rough at times but acceptable for most people. For pc, a stronger processor will help more than a giga graphics card, since the game is really heavy on complex ai interactions

Warrior and Archer really appeal to me, so I might have to go with Wayfinder
Wayfarer! Uh, Warfarer!
gotcha @iMaPounddo you know if vocations are locked out of weapons? like can archers use any melee weapons?
Warfarer? Auto correct murdering people out here.
I love your video drawings, you are just winning every time with them. Its the biggest value of this account.
Thanks bro great video. Been watching your Bg3 guides very nice 👌
As always, Very helpful. Thanks! I think I will do Thief.
But while everybody talks about maelstrom and those other huge, long casting, battle defining spells, I remember having the absolutely most fun with super basic level 3 fireball... the way it just knocked back enemies was so much goddamn fun, and was easy to use with super quick cast in close range self defense or very potent single/multitarget damage/CC on level3 charge made it the absolute goated spell in my book, useful in absolutely every scenario possible :D
So most of the time, I just started with big bad super duper AOE apocalypse spell and then proceeded to mop up the rest with trusty balls of fire :D
This game looks so fun. I cant wait to get access. Gonna be playing archer as a start and change to mystic spearhand as soon as I can.
I hope this game is fun, I can see there is a lot of potential for pain and suffering and frustration. Will see once its out and watch other people before I get it
Thief, thief, thief ! power stance w/ dodge rolling - Dragon Souls ftw 😁
I need to correct you on one thing though, the Fighter vocation does in fact get a dodgeroll
You can see it in one of the trailers for the vocations
Hi thanks for the video ! As usual great content. Just a precision : for Warfarer (as it is described on the official Dragon's Dogma 2 website), you will have access to all weapons and all spells of all classes, but at the cost of lower base stats (i guess stats like stamina, health, defense, and so on).
Great video, thanks!
Doesn't the fighter roll at the 0:39 mark tho? I remember some skills in DD1 gave you s, like the roll on strider or escape slash on warrior. I wonder if any skills will give you s this time around...
Yeah that skill can do it but he’s saying it’s not consistently part of their core abilities
This is a skill that rolls then attacks. It is not a dodge roll, and it is not available at the beginning of the game.
@@godly_potatoe69xd19 You think so? To me, it looks like he rolls and then chains some basic attacks but your point makes sense.
Interestingly, the mystic spearhand gameplay actually resembles the thief more than the fighter, to me. So I wonder if I wanted to go Thief before switching to that, would that synergize well... 🤔
I KNOW I want to go Mystic Spearhand eventually, but I feel more intrigued by the Thief over the Fighter in the early stages.
I’m going Thief then Mystic Spearhand 💯
Im doing warrior as soon as I can
I love playing a warrior , but this means I have to give up the possibility of having those three vocations in the team...
So is the Warfarer just a way to combine your favorite vocations?
The Trickster looks really cool, especially if the part where you lure enemies to jump to their death. The possibilities are endless!
Is there any info on which starting class to play before going into trickster? I can't find any online and I'd like to know what class I should start as
Trickster is sort of like a tank class, so probably Fighter.
@@Fextralife Thanks! I'm sure you've heard this multiple times, but your videos are the best around
Man. I'm so stoked. The 22nd can't come soon enough
Does the Warrior class have more than 1 skill bar, In the first Dogma the warrior only had three skills you could slot due to how the mechanics work.
I wish there was a Mystic Knight or Swordsman vocation even if it was just a minor difference to the Spearhand. Just seems weird to not have that sort of hybrid class present.
That's what I was just thinking. This means Mystic Knight is just gone? That was my favorite from DD1
@@MoeBalingerIllustrationthey seem to want every class to have a unique playstyle and weapon, half of the classes in the base game were variations of the base 3 (except for warrior). But yeah, would be cool to have another "tank" class
I don't understand what you're looking for, the mystic spearhand is a physical melee/magic hybrid.
@@EnduringPhoen1x I think they're is enough swords in gaming already, we should give some space for the Spears and other fantasy weapons
0:40 fighter just rolled how bro ?
Sorry if this has been addressed but will starting vocation prevent my choice of an advanced or hybrid class?
I really want to go mystic spear so I want to make sure my starting choice doesn't prevent that.
That spearhand gameplay looks crazy! Looks like the Jedi class lol
Well, Warrior is my bread & butter +insert a "Horah Loux - WARRRRIOOORRRRR !" sample+
It always has been good to me, and that counter against the armored Cyclops makes it look like it is now even more badass than ever.
I was going ask Fextralife, can you please tell me how was the framerate for Dragons Dogma 2 on PS5 was it an issue at all?
This game launches on my birthday …. Looks like I know what my present os going to be….a pre order copy of this game
Wouldn’t it be better to play thief/mage if you plan on going mystic spear ?
Does Mystic Spearhand require you to level up both fighter and mage or could a thief become a spearhand?
Great video!
Are there more vocations then this? I was hoping on a mix of thief with magic. I guess warfarer will work
Wanna start as an archer, looks like one of the few games that archer is actually fun and still strong to play. but going to have to check out the mystic spear hand for sure once I can
The only reason the trickster is not popular is because this game isn't a multiplayer if it was that support role would be useful
Warfarer seems like my cup of tea. But then again, I never really played assassin in the first game and they had access to a lot of weapons.
Do I have a second weapon slot? I’m eyeing on playing archer but do I have like a close range weapon as well?
I’m sure there is probably something similar in the game. But no way of knowing until the full release.
Are all the vocations announced yet? Or are some of them secrets until you play the game?
So is there secret class like Remnant 2?
There is 5 classes missing, I'm not sure but will be very upset if theses are only class available.
The spearhead looks sick can you make like melee archer spearhead type build?
damn warfarer looks insanely fun indeed switching to whatever the situation in the moment needs the most, but also spearhand, teleporting on the back of a flying gryphon is pretty crazy and throwing stuff at them is fun
Alright, perfectly fine with that. No longer feel like your missing out on damage if you're not "optimal" in leveling
So now I am as undecided as before... gotta catch them all!
Looks so good.... Can't wait till next year so i can play it
Kinda curious how long it will take to get the advanced classes and how easily you can change them. Might have both my main character and pawn on a mage at the start and switch to sorcerer or mystic spearhand asap and maybe warfarer later for the flexibility
I’m flopping between magick archer and mystic spearhand, day 1 honzo or darth maul
Great video, I cant wait to see what other vocations are hidden in the game!
Probably Warrior and Mystic Spearhand. I want to be close to enemies in all my games and aiming with a controller with Archer classes is not my thing at all. But i'll try them at some point
Is your total party 3 or 4 units - and how is the AI (Can the Fighter tank on its own reasonably well)?
i've watched so many of these same videos but idc. I cannot wait for this to come out
Mystic spearhand lookin too good to pass up
The fighter rolled in the gameplay??? What does that mean??
2000+ UAH for the game... I wanted to buy the game at launch, but that price is ridiculous, especially in the country, where the war is going on for a decade...( However, once bought later on on some sale, I would like to play as a sorcerer. This vacation was a lot of fun in the previous game, and I hope it is the same in this one as well.
Is the leveling system and build building the same as the first game?
Going mystic spearhand, but it'll be really hard to switch from warrior if I get it first.
I really hope we'll get reviews ahead of launch. We need more details on performance for consoles and PC footage.
Performance on consoles is 30 fps, but uncapped (if that's what you meant), so the framerate may look choppy at times
The specs are out and by all indications accurate. The game is pushing the computing power of current gen consoles so performance will be a bit rough at times but acceptable for most people. For pc, a stronger processor will help more than a giga graphics card, since the game is really heavy on complex ai interactions
There is a few reviews of that from some people that had the chance to play it, even footage, maximilian has a video and a twitch stream with his own recording
Is there a way for warrior to use sword/shield? I'd like to play more like a paladin and obviously Mystic Knight isn't available :(
Why would the warrior be the only advanced class pawns can use? That don’t seem right to me.
It would be overpowered to have multiple dual vocations.
