You are using Warfarer wrong. How you use it is have all your weapons with only the weight of the heaviest effecting you then put on your best armor and always dedicate all four skill slots to one class. This let's you change classes at any camp site and wear better armor then they get in exchange for the super skill which is a fair trade off. It is amazing when used properly.
Thief is insanely fun. -Climb monster -Plant powder charge -attack weak spot for as long as possible -gut and run for big damage - detonate charge. Monster is now off balance - ensnare to trigger trip.( I think my pawn helped me pull the line once on a cyclops.) - prison shank downed monster in the face. Rinse and repeat Most fights with large monsters they just keep getting downed and put off balance 60% of the fight
That sounds like a much more fun way to play Thief than I was. I already maxed out the vocation and have a ton more to work on, but if I revisit thief I might try this skill setup. The way I played thief was comboing the two Meister skills, since the auto-dodge makes it so you don't take that burn damage yourself and only apply it to the enemy you're fighting. It was really fun at first, but I quickly learned I had optimized the fun out of the class.
I think it is worth pointing out that while some vocations may be more effective, they are all worth trying and they are fun to learn. What is really nice that the game lets you really find whatever playstyle suits your tastes, and each one has depth which differentiates it.
Yup and that’s why I got the mod to actually make it that when you swap weapons, it also swaps the skill bar to that class’s skill bar (though you still need rearmament on one slot of all of those, which is totally fine)
I agree with most of that list, but placement of sorcerer and mage is dumb. The community agrees that generally sorc is now one of the weakest, their damage is quite weak compared to most other classes, and they’re supposed to be a pure dps class. Mages being number 1 doesn’t make sense at all. Even worse damage than sorcerer, you’re playing mostly support, completely at the mercy of your pawns. Don’t get me wrong, it’s pretty much a must have vocation in each party, but imo it’s a terrible pick of a vocation for a player. Instead I’d place Archer much higher. Unlike the mage, it’s a vocation that truly shines only if the player plays them. That way you can use the consumable arrows efficiently and properly aim for weakspots. Playing an archer completely trivialized the game, almost as much as playing a thief did
Warfarer would be a far better class if by switching weapons you got access to different skill slots. Still no Meiser skills, limited to 3 per weapon with Rearmament, but a total of 9 skills. Really letting you shift and adapt to different situations and use each class to a fuller degree.
It's good as is if you just pick one weapon and use all four slots for one class. You can actually bring all weapons at not additional load just don't put the switch skill on, then switch class at camps instead of towns by switching skills. Still get all 4 slots you just lose the super skill in exchange for heavy armor on a mage or thief.
@@darthmalgus4446 The point would be that the other classes get higher stats, so more raw power, and can use the most powerful maister skills available to them. As it stands, even the best laid cross vocation skill combos are dreadfully weak or disjointed, and very few classes actually have core skills worth using with one another. Sorcerer and mage have tons of overlap, galvanize and anodyne are incredibly niche at best (for warfarer), levitate is shared and decent for mobility, but not much else. They also heavily rely on augments that pertain specifically to magic, and weapon skills for their actual worthwhile abilities. Two of warrior's core skills rely largely on weapon skill usage to get worth from them (perfect charging and parrying enemy attacks), which are at a premium for a warfarer using rearmament. Trickster shadows will die rapidly without being babysat, either with spectral walls, sticking it to a monster, or using the vocation action; also rather weapon skill dependent. Archer has incredibly mid core skills, foot kick into slightly stronger normal arrow, and puncture dart, which is extremely niche. Fighter has perfect block, although it struggles against multiple enemies so you need a weapon skill for that, and tusk toss is weak/situational at best. Then you have a fall damage reduction which is nice for utility but not for combat. Ultimately, magick archer, thief and mystic spearhand have the hands down strongest core skills available for warfarer to leverage. Magick archer's conversion gives you access to holy damage and ice damage without need for any weapon skills, thief has its dodge and heavy attack grapple, as well as scarlet kisses for big damage while climbing monsters, and mystic spearhand has a teleport, stun which can be single target or aoe, and a rapidfire light combo. But even then, thief combos with or without maister skills are just stronger than anything warfarer can do as of yet. Concussive leap onto a weak spot, plant powder charge, scarlet kisses until you're running low on stamina or need to get off for safety, draw and quarter for massive damage, detonate charge, they stagger, then follow with implicate to pull the enemy aground and renew your assault. That's without using formless feint to ignore the downsides of blades of the pyre to inflict massive damage to an enemy. You could do the first combo with warfarer, but you have lower base strength so you'll do less damage, and you're just playing thief anyways, if you aren't using rearmament. At least with no access to maister skills and lowered stats, 3 weapon skills per weapon would make the warfarer weaker and less specialized, but also more versatile. Right now it seems the best features are the ability to wear any armor, and swap weapons without going into menus for enchanted weapons. Ironic that it's best played as sorcerer/mage but armored, or melee vocation but I get to pick which boon I have at any given moment. And even then it's not really better than what specialized vocations can do. TLDR: Warfarer is mid.
@@williamhanna9718it’s not a multiplayer game so who cares and I’d rather not rely on pawns. They are still very stupid and the developers should never make the players rely on them. That’s why it’s stupid to have only four skill slots, and of course not be able to switch your skills in the pause menu. In Skyrim you don’t need to go to a inn to switch skills. In fact in no rpg that Iv played have you had to do that. It’s stupid.
Yeah, I think that will be patched at some point in the sense that having one class that nigh essential in every party is not a good thing. it's ok to have stronger or weaker party make ups, but having a class that is almost always needed is not good.
@@mattm7798 I doubt it'll be patched and I'm not even sure how they could fix it. Giving Sorc a heal doesn't seem right. Even if they did, Mage has so much other utility. It'd have to be a major rework across multiple vocations. Not likely unless its part of an expansion I'd guess.
@@hi_phillgaming1032yeah but now you are gimping overall damage to try to make up for the fact that you don’t have a mage. And you still don’t catch up. Mage offers those heals and cleanses plus extra.
I play mystic spearhand and i have to say, yes it looks flashy but the skill floor is NOT high. Use your bubble every few seconds and your team cant die. When you get better you use it less and instead play more aggressive, then theres a lot of potential (high skill ceiling). I would say a 1 button permanent invulnerability makes your skill floor low by definition
At level 20 I was killing everything using this method of course you do end up using it less then I just started bombing with the laser 🤣you can basically play ranged or up close or both it’s a fun class.
I think we can all agree it's a broken thing and shouldn't be considered. Idk. It shouldn't be considered the same way dragons dogma shouldn't be considered "too easy" bc of the mirror shield spam. Ppl shouldnt abuse it.
The skill floor I think he's referring to is the seeming frame perfect inputs for some of the moves, i.e the teleport that cost no stamina and the shock bubble. Regardless of how easy they may be for you to do, it's a legit tight input that just isn't for everyone Also, the bubble is strong yes, but getting stun locked is waaaaay worse in this game, fuck those enemies
@@Dunkingtd i dont have the class and i feel like its way to easy as for now. im not done with tha story yet so i hope to get a difficulty spike at some point
very comprehensive explanation for each class, but in case you viewers wanted to switch class just after watching this video wondering you've make a wrong choice, NO, the margin is not that big, the core is still combination of your team, the fun comes from what you enjoy the most, I very much enjoy warrior with a speed buff.
@@cesaraugusto7737 use the help me command, and ensure there are no other buffs on your pawns list. They'll either heal you if your HP is low, or if your HP is high, they'll start buffing instead. You can also use an elemental weapon to discourage them using boon/affinity spells
Something I think you should look at on the thief is using blades of the pyre while in formless feint. This stops you from taking damage from the explosion and does disgusting amounts of damage I don't think any class can compete with.
Yeah Thief and Mystic Spearhand are in my opinion the strongest vocations in the game. Thief melts everything, especially with that combo. Mystic Spearhand is essentially invulnerable. The only downside is that the former should best be played on the player character while the latter is a player only vocation.
Funny thing for thiefs. Helmsplitter is almost as gamebreaking as in the first game xD They downscaled it a bit, but the damage is still unbelievably high.
I watched all your videos during my playthrough of Elden Ring. I hadn't heard of you before then. Now, here we go again with Dragons Dogma 2. I must say your videos are great, and hearing your voice when the video started made me happy. I'm looking forward to your videos on this game, brother.
Honestly the spell range could be better on frigor, lightingmine, and salamander. Or being able to just free aim like dogma 1 would be awesome. I put them below a warrior at least for player class.
Prescient/Augural Flare easily has to be one of the most powerful, broken spells in the game. I love watching it absolutely decimate entire health bars and sometimes literally one shot cyclops/ogre enemies 😂
@@GoToBedSheeva yeah I feel like Quickcast and improved Levitate kind of makes up for it, also higher ranks of spells don't increase the casting time. But I do sorely miss being able to throw my Frigors waaay out there.
Really enjoying the Warrior Vocation so far! I've just about maxed it out at this point. It does require a bit of patience (especially in the early levels) but it just feels so damn good as you unlock more skills for it
@@MeldinX2 Which isn't even expensive too. Half of a decent trip will give you enough to get them all. So Warfarer really is free real estate XD I didn't even know that, so that's actually pretty cool!
Warfarer is actually the best class. you go sorc, thief and spearhand. you pop Augural Flare on a weak point, teleport to it with spearhand and use skullplitter with whatever elemental weapon buff it is weak to on and pretty much every boss in the game will instantly die. (yes even the dragon at the end of the game gets melted by this).
Too many skills involved. Just play Sorcerer, cast Augural Flare on a weakpoint, spam basic bolts, watch the pretty explosions, collect loot. Augural Flare with Sorc stat growths is completely busted.
Or just use Thief and Formless Feint + Blades of Pyre. Or just go Sorceror and use Meteor. Or just go Magic Archer and use your ult, even though it screws over your HP, you are ranged and shouldn't be getting hit regardless.
I see the spears that some town guards carry, and man, i cant help but pray for a possible spear vocation in future dlc, assuming there is one. Spears are so under represented in fantasy. But they're so cool
@ayashinightcore8282 no you fool. Just your average run of the mill spear. The duo spear is great. Mystic spearhand is my favorite vocation. But I wanna poke the hell out of stuff
@@HeWhoSoars. This would be sick! 100% Would love to see some kind of "Throw Spear" for a crap ton of damage and you can go retrieve the spear and do an animation. Either that or make some kind of Thief rope pull to bring back the spear. I feel like the spear goes underappreciated in a lot of games and that's IF they're even in them. I'd love to see it make a better, or just more, appearance. Role-playing as a Gladiator, freaking be Nobushi from For Honor, give me a shield so I can act like Leonidas and poke stuff from safety. Give me the twirling effect of a Mystic Spearhand, dude, the possibilities are endless, aha.
I was fully intending on being a thief for my entire playthrough, but as soon as I saw the mystic spearhand NPC fighting in-game, I knew I had to be that guy. It’s just so flashy and fluid, and the hooded badass aesthetic is so sick.
Finally a content creator giving thief the real love and attention it deserves. Ive found 3 other videos from youtubers downplaying thief like they barely play the vocation, or they utilize the class worse than the pawns do😂. Either way amazing video. Tbf though, a team of 3 thiefs properly utilizing formless feint with a mage would make the game broken honestly.
The rope grab move the thief has is op af. Staggers every enemy except the really big ones which opens them up for a critical. Grab harpies put of the sky, throw humanoids around, even heavier small enemies like rock lizards, 1 rope grab staggers them for the crit to finish off.
This time they actually made some of the vocations fun to play, I changed different vocations so far and enjoy all of them had more fun compared to the first game, can’t wait to unlock more vocations
Warfarer should equip 3 skill sets. Each skill set needs Rearmament in it, so you could then equip 3 skills for each weapon. It would swap the skill selection when you swap weapons.
It's like they just stacked so many downsides to it. 1. Stats 2. No swapping skillsets. 3. Take up 4th skill with rearm 4. No meister. Any two of those would have been enough. Not all 4.
I like fighter I feel versatile, yeah the stamina drains a little faster then I like when using the abilities however I feel between the speed of attacks and being able to charge in , hit flying enemies, doing an aoe spin twice, and a perform a repeated spam stabbing effect when they are vulnerable/ laying down( to me at least) covers all angles. Trying to use this vocation with a mage pawn for heals and a warrior pawn for staggering really helps out. Plus it allows me to focus damage more over shielding up, I use it mainly for fall damage and parries
I think Warfarer is better than people say. For one being able to use the class specific abilties for every weapon you use is great.(For example Galvanize to regain stamina or Dodge as a thief, Heal as a mage) Aswell as being able to wear every armor in the game regardless of class. Yeah you lose one ability slot and the master abilities and that is the biggest drawback. But you also gain the ability to gain ranks in every vocation you have unlocked at the same time if you have the warfarer equipped. I got levels in archer even when i did not even have a bow equipped. And if you rushed and got wayfarer early it's a super good way to gain ranks in all vocations at the same time. Being able to switch weapons lets you deal with most situations also. These pesky flying enemies that are annoying as a Warrior is no more since you just switch to your ranged weapon. If people jump you as a ranged you can switch to meele on the fly and deal with it also.
Thank you.! I love that you put MAGES on #1.! I love doing spells at a distance while everyone else gets the enemy up close I use that class in Elden ring, BG 3 is just my favorite and so seeing that you have it number one is good because I purchased the game for PS5 disc Edition❤
Theif definitely suprised me, i feel like a sudo batman playing it, using the grappling hook ability, and i love the bomb charge move, ive always been a sucker for an engineer style character
Right? Like "Batman gameplay," you aren't a superhero that can send foes flying with your strength. You have to rely on fierce strategy and tools of the trade. Theres nothing like climbing the big bad, planting a charge, stabbing, jumping off, detonating, yanking him off his feet with ensnare. It all works so fluidly in the fight and is amazing to watch.
One thing about thief that may gets overlooked is that if you press X (light attack) repeatedly fast while not moving the joystick (can also be done while mounting), you'll do a fast slashing move that's basically the blade dance move of dual blades in Monster Hunter, which has relatively high dps and consumes no stamina.
Awesome! I want to give being a pure spell caster a try, so Mage's right up my alley. I'll party up with: Warrior, Archer, & I'm unsure what the 3rd option will be. But I'd also like to try playing as: Spearhand, Thief, & Magic Archer
What ever happened to the assassin vocation from DD1? That was a fairy cool class mixing fighter and strider. How cool would it have been to be a master of both daggers , longbow, and sword and shield in this game! But im loving the DD2 video's!
@@TheBlakamon15More specifically, they did this because they wanted to cut down on "do-everything" vocations that covered too many bases too effectively- particularly strider and its hybrids.
Thief is currently the strongest class objectively. - Has a skill that makes you invurnable - Has a skill that does huge fire explosion burst damage at the cost of your health Combine both together and you cannot die while casting a spell that perma staggers all large enemies. Two stamina bar rotations is usually more then enough to take down any monster using this insanely broken combination.
Good video I think warrior is a little disappointing as you don't get as much as you should damage wise for the slow attacks. Trickster is def my personal fav. I'd say outside of running around your role is to pin down and or knock down enemies. Against bosses the meister skill let's you down large goes. While small does you can haunt one for and then jump on and pin down another.
Great breakdown! Personally I find that the top 3 classes to me right now are spearhabd, thief and mage. Bear in mind that I haven’t unlocked magick archer so we’ll see when I do :D. Magic are her was my main in DD1, so I’m excited to try it. Right now I’m spearhaand and oh boy, I’m having fun :D
Started the game yesterday and really enjoyed being a fighter until the point where i couldnt really get better with it Than i found that video! Thank you, definitely going to try thief next and once i unlock it the magic archer!
lets not forget that mage also gets the single best traversal skill in the game with levitate which provides about the same capacity to bypass obstacles as thief's concussive leap, but without taking up a skill slot.
I disagree with Warfarer. While they lose out on Maister skills (which let's be frank, are gimmick "try it once" skills in half the classes), they still get weapon utility and core skills, which I would argue count as skill slots (in many cases they literally are skills from DD1) . For example bringing an Archstaff just for Galvanize alone is worth it, even with zero Sorcerer skills, free stam on demand while running or in combat plus Levitate for exploration, then we have classes like Mystic Spearhand whose power comes mostly from his weapon alone; the super damaging downed/stunned attack, rotating normal attack, ranged magick strong attack, single/multi target stun and teleport - to me all of this class's skills feel like a cherry on top to complement the weapon/R1, rather than mandatory (although the Shield never hurts...). And of course this is before going into multi-class skill wombo combos, which suffice to say are broken and well worth "losing" a skill slot. Sorcerer's Augural Flare + MA(or)Thief Sagittate Avalanche(or)Skull Splitter is but one of many that melt bosses. I'll leave others for player exploration. On the other hand you can simply take a single class's weapon and its 4 skills for the sole purpose of leveling up all of your classes with zero downside (aside from not having Maister skills), I say this because "WF having to level other classes to get skills" was mentioned as a downside in the video, while the fact that it levels up all classes wasn't mentioned as a huuuge upside for some reason (amazing for NG+'s and the eventual DLC if you don't want to switch and level up the 4-5 classes you left behind)
This is the ONE rpg where playing a main elemental caster feels as rewarding as it should feel in every game. It requires understanding of the enemy patterns and a careful approach in order to avoid being interrupted, but once you have it figured out, you literally obliterate your opponents before they can even consider retaliating. It's SO good it's unbelieavable.
Man, this is a good review and I thank you for teh research you put into it. I noticed with my Fighter Arisen that the damage is decent, but the stamina is terrible, especially for blocking. So after blocking first and using an ability, I'd be drained and need to pop a stam item just to survive. If I have no stam items, I'll be overwhelmed quickly. I just unlocked the Warrior class, and I can deal with a slower playstyle if that means my damage output and survivability increases. I'm also going to switch mu pawn from a thief to a mage. I didn't consider playstyle as much as I considered the appearances of my characters. But you definetely feel it in the game. A part of me yearns for the Sorc though. I was a Sorc in the last game and I beat the game twice with those godlike powers. I can only imagine how much they improved it from last time.
Warrior still the worst for me, rather play a fighter- much better mobility and can still put out some decent damage with riotous fury and gutting skewer
My top 3: 1. Mystic Spearhand 2. Magick Archer 3. Thief. Magick Archer is easy mode against most enemies, but it doesn't seem to have quite the same level of burst damage against the biggest enemies in the game that you'd get from the mystic spearhand and thief vocations. And those are the ones that matter, in my opinion. The rest of the enemies aren't particularly tough. It does, of course, have Martyr's Bolt, but that's a really inconvenient skill to use since it leaves you at a sliver of health that has to be restored at a camp/rest spot.
On Warfarer, I think a great buff would be to introduce a primer and detonator to create a combo dynamic that is unique only to them that way it nullifies the lack of access to Maister skills but allows you, the player to “create” your own through combos; oh and allow 2-3 skills per weapon to make it viable
This list seems very Arisen/Player focused. Could you do a "best Pawn vocations" video? I know mage will top the list, but it'd be interesting to see your ideas on the order of the other options.
I remember in the first game, the thief class was overpowered because not only did you get the daggers with all the skills that come with them, but you also got to use a bow and arrow with the skills that the archer has. Plus, you can eventually evolve it into the magic archer
Mage is so good. I made my main pawn a kindhearted mage, with High Halidom (cleanse), High Palladium (block attack), High Lavin (Lightning, great for small mobs) and Ice Boon (you can use anything really). Really nice, support-oriented mage. They are gear-friendly as well.
I'm actually surprised that how much I really like thief in this game. It's kind of insane. I think it has some of the best core abilities. Some of the best skills. And it arguably has my favorite mastery skill. To become un touchable for a bit especially if you have a mage giving u unlimited Stamina its too good
I want my created pawn to be a mage but unfortunately my pawn is a dwarf; which doesn’t possess the ability to use magic. Any suggestions? No I will not bend lore and make a dwarf a mage (that’s gross). I’m role playing utilizing dragon age world lore. ❤
Having to have played MH game’s really helped out in a lot of the difficult vocations like Warrior and Mystic Spear Hand. DD2 really feels more like an MH RPG game for me. Can only imagine how MH Wild is going to be like.
Just a heads up on why you'd equip a bunch of weapons and essentially mule them with Wayfarer is that it only counts the heaviest and so this drastically can reduce your weight if you happen to be carrying extra weapons with you. Slot them and even if you don't use them their weight is likely getting negated. Otherwise you still have access to aspects of each Vocation assigned to said weapon . This could mean Levitating because of a Mage/Sorcerer as an example. Let's not forget Sorcerer can rapidly regain stamina. Ergo, one shouldn't under-estimate just how useful each weapon might be.
Mage is kinda busted atm: What's funny is; I think its even WORSE of a problem in DD2 than in DD1. In DD1 you could get by with healing items and such, but with the way wounding works, you may as well have the healer with a speed boost, damage shield, stamina for free button, and the only holy spell available to a pawn class. I was thinking; back before launch, that the should've called it Priest (like DDO), and I stick by that opinion, its way more of a White Mage now, and is ridiculously best in slot for any party.
I love how much better they've made warrior over the first game. If you use a blunt weapon with one of the rings that jncreases your stagger damage, you can keep a monster perpetually staggered. Its so fun to have a monster ragdolled for an entire fight.
Fighter one love. The best class, it seems that everyone is used to the shield and sword, but if you try to implement it to the maximum, you will find that this is the king of the battle, your pawns fall? Aggress the boss, he will still die faster than he can kill you. Was there a window? cut through it with your sword using whirlwind strikes. Are you left 1v1 with the boss? And here, if you have mastered making the most of your skills, then this will be the best duel of your life, because your skills will help you both negate the strongest blows and quickly counterattack, knocking monsters off balance. While archers win simply because of a good position, pouring clouds of damage, the same with magicians, warriors cut off all HP with heavy and slow blows, and an illusionist manipulates the enemy, you know every blow, you instantly react to every action, you accept every action of the enemy countermeasures, you can't do a lot of damage, you can't trick the boss, you can't heal the team, but you can give time for the mage to deal damage, you can bite into the leg when the ogre went to the mage, you can take a hit, when he decides to throw you back with a blow of his club, your game is a sharp mind, it is constant thoughtful sanctions on the actions of the enemy, you win not with thoughtless power, but with strategy, control of combat figures on the battlefield.
Thanks for all the amazing content you have been uploading. Could you also please make one vocations ranked for pawns and which team compositions would be great and rank them based on comp types like survivability, pure damage, balanced, ranged, hybrid, etc.?
I have always been into fighters in general rpgs but this game made me fall in love with thieves. This class is just fenomenal, especially after getting formless faint, which basically makes you invulnerable
Should do a video on group combinations. I have been playing magic archer, mage, sorcerer, sorcerer for a few days and its a blast. Ive only wiped once when we got overwhelmed, but for the most part, we absolutely obliterate mobs before they can really do any damage to us.
Neat! I was guessing each class at each rank until 4 xD but I was still right on 3, I think your pick for 1 is really cool! I agree it's definitely an auto include I had 3 to start the game while I learned the mechanics XD just felt safe My favorite class is absolutely Mystic Spearhand, I abused the shield ability to ride out every single attack in the game and flay the enemy with spinning blades like a sith lord. I loved it so much. And the interactivity of slamming a monster to the ground with the dragoon jump to then pick them up and chuck them into another enemy and watch both fly off a cliff, omg that was such a great game I may actually do a new game plus
So many different opinions on the vocation tiers. And that’s what they are, opinions and how someone is enjoying their own game. I watched a video last night where they said mage was absolute garbage except for the healing. I didn’t agree with it, but this channel puts them as the best. I’m enjoying thief and spearhand. Both are different and so fun. However, my support pawns are usually sorcerer and mage always with my main as warrior or fighter.
Just a reminder that you don't have to max other classes before playing warfarer. All the classes are level uping while you use warferer. If it's unlock it will up, slow but up. And you take levels on all the class you haven't maxed yet.
i ran mystic spearhand while my main pawn was a mage and my support pawns were a fighter or warrior and a sorcerer. I absolutely destroyed bosses with this party comp.
I think the game is designd around swaping and leveling every vocation to the point where you unlock all the augments you want to chose on your main. By that point I think you'll have a good understanding of each vocation so that you decide if you still want to go with your main choice or swap to something that you like more. I like this!

The only downside is that it makes the game too easy imo hahaha

Playing an archer completely trivialized the game, almost as much as playing a thief did
@kolosmenus sorc is highest dps in the game with Aug flare. You can straight up one shot all content. As soon as you get it, the game is over
Warfarer would be a far better class if by switching weapons you got access to different skill slots. Still no Meiser skills, limited to 3 per weapon with Rearmament, but a total of 9 skills. Really letting you shift and adapt to different situations and use each class to a fuller degree.
This would make it insanely strong
It's good as is if you just pick one weapon and use all four slots for one class.
You can actually bring all weapons at not additional load just don't put the switch skill on, then switch class at camps instead of towns by switching skills.
Still get all 4 slots you just lose the super skill in exchange for heavy armor on a mage or thief.
Literally what would be the point of having any other class? What are u the Avatar? Master of all classes
Mage is definitely the most important class. One that you cannot have a decent party without
Yeah, I think that will be patched at some point in the sense that having one class that nigh essential in every party is not a good thing. it's ok to have stronger or weaker party make ups, but having a class that is almost always needed is not good.
@@mattm7798 I doubt it'll be patched and I'm not even sure how they could fix it. Giving Sorc a heal doesn't seem right. Even if they did, Mage has so much other utility. It'd have to be a major rework across multiple vocations. Not likely unless its part of an expansion I'd guess.
magic archer has heals, i dont use mage in my group remedy arrow op
@@mattm7798it was the same in DD1 tho, every party requires a mage pretty much since they are the only ones who can heal
That bubble move is broken😅
I think we can all agree it's a broken thing and shouldn't be considered. Idk. It shouldn't be considered the same way dragons dogma shouldn't be considered "too easy" bc of the mirror shield spam.
Ppl shouldnt abuse it.
The skill floor I think he's referring to is the seeming frame perfect inputs for some of the moves, i.e the teleport that cost no stamina and the shock bubble. Regardless of how easy they may be for you to do, it's a legit tight input that just isn't for everyone
Also, the bubble is strong yes, but getting stun locked is waaaaay worse in this game, fuck those enemies
@@Dunkingtd i dont have the class and i feel like its way to easy as for now. im not done with tha story yet so i hope to get a difficulty spike at some point
very comprehensive explanation for each class,
but in case you viewers wanted to switch class just after watching this video wondering you've make a wrong choice,
NO,
the margin is not that big, the core is still combination of your team, the fun comes from what you enjoy the most,
I very much enjoy warrior with a speed buff.
Is there a way to trigger pawn’s buff speed? I put on mine but he never uses
@@cesaraugusto7737 use the help me command, and ensure there are no other buffs on your pawns list. They'll either heal you if your HP is low, or if your HP is high, they'll start buffing instead. You can also use an elemental weapon to discourage them using boon/affinity spells

Warfarer easily #1 since you're fashion becomes 100% unlocked.
Something I think you should look at on the thief is using blades of the pyre while in formless feint. This stops you from taking damage from the explosion and does disgusting amounts of damage I don't think any class can compete with.
Literally it is playing god mode
Lmao hold up, formless feint makes you avoid the entire con of blades of the pyre?!
@@Phantom_Anthem yeah its gross you can spam it on a bosses weakpoint when they go down and it melts through their health bars.
@@DrasTalos damn almost feels exploitive lol
Yeah Thief and Mystic Spearhand are in my opinion the strongest vocations in the game. Thief melts everything, especially with that combo. Mystic Spearhand is essentially invulnerable. The only downside is that the former should best be played on the player character while the latter is a player only vocation.
He loves every class
Yeah, seems like all vocations are well made!
And i Love Fextralife!
All the vocations are viable. Just use whatever you find fun.
There isn't a single bad vocation, so yeah.
I concur. every class are so fun to play with.
Funny thing for thiefs. Helmsplitter is almost as gamebreaking as in the first game xD
They downscaled it a bit, but the damage is still unbelievably high.
Wait’ll you see skullsplitter with framae blades….
yeah skullsplitter melts non-drakes in seconds
Formless feint+blades of pyre= infinite boom
I watched all your videos during my playthrough of Elden Ring. I hadn't heard of you before then. Now, here we go again with Dragons Dogma 2. I must say your videos are great, and hearing your voice when the video started made me happy. I'm looking forward to your videos on this game, brother.

Sorcerer feels so OP. Even the non Maister spells do so much damage and don't take long to cast. With a Warrior Pawn, you rarely get targeted too.
Honestly the spell range could be better on frigor, lightingmine, and salamander. Or being able to just free aim like dogma 1 would be awesome. I put them below a warrior at least for player class.
@@kenpachiramasama1139wow, no longer free aim? That sucks
Prescient/Augural Flare easily has to be one of the most powerful, broken spells in the game. I love watching it absolutely decimate entire health bars and sometimes literally one shot cyclops/ogre enemies 😂
I would recommend getting a warrior pawn maxed out then switch it to a fighter. That shield just makes the pawn all the more tanky.
@@GoToBedSheeva yeah I feel like Quickcast and improved Levitate kind of makes up for it, also higher ranks of spells don't increase the casting time. But I do sorely miss being able to throw my Frigors waaay out there.
I think your ranks on the list are great. Fighter is my fav still. Sword and Board is just fun. Keep up the great work.
Thief is what I started with and had a lot of fun but then switched to fighter and landed in mystic spearhand. So many fun classes in this game
Same started theif maxed it and now im playing. Magic archer which is very much easy mode except against mobs and dragons
Hell yeah, went from thief to mystic Spearhand! Haven't looked back since
Working towards MS rn looks really fun
Thank you Fextra for all the hard long hours of work you put into your videos!
Really enjoying the Warrior Vocation so far! I've just about maxed it out at this point. It does require a bit of patience (especially in the early levels) but it just feels so damn good as you unlock more skills for it
Just want to point out if you get Warfarer early on, it levels up all vocations at the same time which is ideal 👍🏻
All classes, or just those equipped?
@@galaxybrainkid1222 Every single one you have unlocked. You need to buy the classes so you can use them and then they will gain levels.
@@MeldinX2 Which isn't even expensive too. Half of a decent trip will give you enough to get them all. So Warfarer really is free real estate XD I didn't even know that, so that's actually pretty cool!
I would've never imagined that I'd enjoy a thief class more than a mystic spear. Although, mystic spear is still so much fun
Same. Both are fun but thief is just on a whole other level
Same, when I first saw spearhand gameplay I thought for sure it was gonna be my favorite vocation, but so far thief takes the #1 spot for me.
This video was so fire I logged in just to like and comment. Thank you.
Let's go! Just the video I needed to see. Thank you.
Thanks!
Thank you for the support!
I would try it but I’m too lazy to get it seems like you have to do a lot to get it
You really don't, you just have to give a dude booze and bam, you have the vocation@@TrayGolden
@@joshualawton57 do you know what video shows where’s that at?
Mystic SPEARhand
Started with Archer, loved it, went to Thief and love it even more. Excited for Magick archer and Mystic spearhand!!!
Mystic spear hand has my heart
I was fully intending on being a thief for my entire playthrough, but as soon as I saw the mystic spearhand NPC fighting in-game, I knew I had to be that guy. It’s just so flashy and fluid, and the hooded badass aesthetic is so sick.
The most busted class in the game I love it
it is definitely the best one hands down.
Actually the dragon has your heart, it’s the main plot of the game
All hail the medieval Jedi
Been playing this game non stop and totally agree with you. Thanks for putting this together!
I'm loving Thief! nice vid
Will forever love my magic archer played it in the first game and once i walk there will start playing it today
Is it as fun in this game? It looks like it has little movement and all shots are auto aiming for you basically.. But haven’t played it myself yet.
The archer classes lost the daggers to the Thief class so your melee is almost non existent
The rope grab move the thief has is op af. Staggers every enemy except the really big ones which opens them up for a critical. Grab harpies put of the sky, throw humanoids around, even heavier small enemies like rock lizards, 1 rope grab staggers them for the crit to finish off.
Mystic spearhand, use the class action stun, then use the throw skill. You'll be able to throw anything not big that you stun in an aoe.
1. Stats
2. No swapping skillsets.
3. Take up 4th skill with rearm
4. No meister.
Any two of those would have been enough. Not all 4.
I like fighter I feel versatile,yeah
the stamina drains a little faster then I like when using the abilities however I feel between the speed of attacks and being able to charge in , hit flying enemies, doing an aoe spin twice, and a perform a repeated spam stabbing effect when they are vulnerable/ laying down( to me at least) covers all angles. Trying to use this vocation with a mage pawn for heals and a warrior pawn for staggering really helps out. Plus it allows me to focus damage more over shielding up, I use it mainly for fall damage and parries
Also everyone fails to mention this class gets the best/coolest armor in the game
@@jacrispy219r5 what armor ?

Didn’t think I would enjoy trickster as much as I did!
Smart video. I imagine it will gets tons of engagement as people argue in the comments about how their fav is actually number one.
This is well detailed. Thanks 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Yeah, the focus on needing synergy is misplaced.
MSH to stun and bubble, then Warrior when they're knocked down is another combination.
Fextralife working overtime
Thief is just assassin without the bow really they just limited your options in this game
They made each vocation focus only on one weapon this is why we do not have some vocations from the first game.
@@TheBlakamon15More specifically, they did this because they wanted to cut down on "do-everything" vocations that covered too many bases too effectively- particularly strider and its hybrids.
@@justinthompson6364Strider really was the problem child of Dragon's Dogma lol
@@justinthompson6364 But then why add warfarer if that was the case?
Thief is currently the strongest class objectively.
- Has a skill that makes you invurnable
- Has a skill that does huge fire explosion burst damage at the cost of your health
Combine both together and you cannot die while casting a spell that perma staggers all large enemies. Two stamina bar rotations is usually more then enough to take down any monster using this insanely broken combination.
Good video
I think warrior is a little disappointing as you don't get as much as you should damage wise for the slow attacks.
Awesome guides and videos and fast uploads too. Is there any chance you will make videos about the best pawn combinations based on your vocation?
Great stuff I hope I can buy this game soon!!
Love your content my guy. You're a fucking machine.
all their viewers are "machines" as well :)
Started the game yesterday and really enjoyed being a fighter until the point where i couldnt really get better with it
Than i found that video!
Thank you, definitely going to try thief next and once i unlock it the magic archer!
Loving warrior right now. BONK!!!
When you hit the heavy pancake slap and send the mob flying its so satisfying...
I like the fighter myself I was thinking about switching to the warrior.
that slam sound are soo sastifying.
Auguments never really mentioned on a per class basis, which is odd as they are one of the best-selling points in picking "weaker" classes.
They killed my boy mystic knight 😢
lets not forget that mage also gets the single best traversal skill in the game with levitate which provides about the same capacity to bypass obstacles as thief's concussive leap, but without taking up a skill slot.
Thief FTW - DPS powerhouse with a dodge.
archer also has a dodge. use sprint and light attack to slide under enemies attacks. if you slide into enemies they take damage and stagger. so fun
Mage and thief my fav currently
This is the ONE rpg where playing a main elemental caster feels as rewarding as it should feel in every game. It requires understanding of the enemy patterns and a careful approach in order to avoid being interrupted, but once you have it figured out, you literally obliterate your opponents before they can even consider retaliating. It's SO good it's unbelieavable.
I am shredding with Thief. Yet to try Magik Archer though
Fighter gang 💪
My top 3:
It does, of course, have Martyr's Bolt, but that's a really inconvenient skill to use since it leaves you at a sliver of health that has to be restored at a camp/rest spot.
we love you bro
Love that guide, thanks so much!
Started with thief still playing with thief the most enjoyable IMO it’s so much fun.
Archer with status arrows seems op if you capitalize on debilitations
The number one is literally the best vocation for your pawn. This seems more pawn focused than anything imo as player's rarely want to be a mage
I remember in the first game, the thief class was overpowered because not only did you get the daggers with all the skills that come with them, but you also got to use a bow and arrow with the skills that the archer has. Plus, you can eventually evolve it into the magic archer
Warrior swing big sword. Big sword hit hard. Hard hit kill monster. Warrior good.
The sorcerer vocation with that spell that creates the timebomb on mobs SHREDSSSS bosses its crazy
14:06 My party is now and always has been 100% mage. No bows, no swords, no knives, just a bunch of staffs and a lot of lightning. It’s wonderful.
Having to have played MH game’s really helped out in a lot of the difficult vocations like Warrior and Mystic Spear Hand. DD2 really feels more like an MH RPG game for me. Can only imagine how MH Wild is going to be like.
I hope they break the internet with MH Wild, man. Regardless, Imma play it!! Speaking of, I gotta finish Sunbreak XD
Sneaky boy as main and Pawn gets to do the mage stuff! good video! time to start now
I love how much better they've made warrior over the first game.
Perfect blocking with fighter will never cease to be immensely satisfying, especially things like griffins and minotaurs.
Neat! I was guessing each class at each rank until 4 xD but I was still right on 3,
I think your pick for 1 is really cool! I agree it's definitely an auto include I had 3 to start the game while I learned the mechanics XD just felt safe
My favorite class is absolutely Mystic Spearhand, I abused the shield ability to ride out every single attack in the game and flay the enemy with spinning blades like a sith lord.
I absolutely destroyed bosses with this party comp.
how do you get mystic spearhand?
dragonsdogma2.wiki.fextralife.com/Mystic+Spearhand explained in detail here
@@Fextralife ty bro
1.sorcerer 2. Spearhand 3. Theif 4. Warfarer sometimes. I keep a pawn who’s a mage. Those are the only ones I need.
Great guide buddy! Playing archer atm, but deffo looking forward to giving magic archer a go 😁
that thief grappling hook is so cool when you need enemies to be on their backs n crawling.. its like stomping on ants
I think the game is designd around swaping and leveling every vocation to the point where you unlock all the augments you want to chose on your main. By that point I think you'll have a good understanding of each vocation so that you decide if you still want to go with your main choice or swap to something that you like more. I like this!
I used to switch between katana dual wield and elenora in elden ring. Guess I'll go with either thief or spearhand. Again, great vid 👍
