Hard to say, but the yellowing DOES put a visual damper on them for sure. For display purposes I'd say pass, just based on asking price....but I'm a fan of the channel, far from an expert🤷👍
After looking up release year of Transformers, I believe it was probably then 1984 when I was given $60 of my Communion gift money and set loose in Toys R Us to get what I wanted. I remember buying all Transformers and Optimus was one of them. That was a great feeling to set loose into Toys R Us with $60 to spend as a kid!
I don’t have one toy in the house but I just love this channel, first heard of toy federation when foggy flips visited . Ryan comes across as a lovely guy who must dream about toys. Love from the UK.
I’m not over seas now but have been a few times. I’m active duty still and love to watch Saturday morning toy show. Just so good to look back at toys from when I was a kid. Recently got an unopened Gi Joe I used to have as a kid. Love you show thanks !!!
Coming down to Columbia for work tomorrow.. Be there a week or so. Gonna try like heck to stop up for a visit and buy a Heman figure for the collection
You guys do have a rad store glad to see a true toy store still around I miss the old kb toys, toys r us and toy liquidators days and not to mention the precursor to GameStop kids nowadays don’t know about called babbages, and the other gem store back in the day service merchandise I remember getting toys and games from there you would pick what you wanted off shelf pay and the item would come down a conveyor belt from the back they didn’t have product on shelves lol miss those days
Love the vintage!! Awesome show!! Lobby swap looks like alot of fun I can't wait to visit the store in a couple more months when I visit my parents in Columbia sc
Great video Brother. Full of excitement. Thanks always for sharing Your passion and adventures from Toronto Ontario Canada 😎👍♥️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️✨️✨️💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
These videos are a gateway drug man. Next thing you know, you'll be picking up Funko Pops from Target [noooo lol] I know a couple buddies that aren't collectors that ended up picking up some modern incarnations of stuff they loved as a kid. Nice to have a few doodads on your desk...like hyper detailed articulated fidget spinners.
Man oh man what a show. Always great watching you guys, literally would just watch continuously on a livestream. Just wear bodycams and do what you guys do, it's amazing! Great purchases btw, that sealed battlin robots?!? Amazing 🔥🔥🔥
Another great show, I will never forget how much fun I have being a nerd with all you guys! Ryan, I’m with ya on Shockwave, that scary ass one optic staring you down…Soundwave is my other favorite, something about a tape deck sending out cassette tapes that can kill you, lol! I’m not a big Transformer guy either but it’s awesome they are still relevant after all of these years!
Though expensive a loose grayskull would be sick if you have it open like three quarters so you can see inside the castle etc. Very nice how he didn't even comment on dude's impersonation
I would get one of the reissues and just call it an original lol. I mean not to resell it, just to tell myself that lie. _"It's the one from my childhood! In complete, pristine condition!"_
I watched the opening of the sealed greyskull. If was full of newspaper and bubble wrap. Someone just re boxed their castle and sold it as sealed. The poor guy got scammed.
Quick story that I'll NEVER forget. I went to a garage sale about 3 Summers ago...it was an older couple. They had a table of vintage/random toys. There were FOUR CARDED & unpunched He-Man figures all from 1982 sitting on the table...he had them marked at $2.00/each!!! Needless to say, I could not grab them quick enough. It was obvious that this older gentleman had no clue what he had. Just out of respect, I ended-up paying him $30 per figure. He was absolutely blown away that I would pay that much for what he thought was just junk. I immediately listed them on eBay and obviously they sold quick (auction style) for good money. My only regret, I wish to God that I would have held on to them! Once in a lifetime find!!
@@crb4059 - got around $180-$190/each. I honestly can't remember which one's....one was the female....can't remember the other 3. I don't know MOTU very well.
@@crb4059 - the other crazy part that I didn't mention...there was actually 10 of them in total. Another guy and myself locked eyes and literally ran to the table. He grabbed 6 and I got 4.
The great thing about Retro Toy Con is you can make like five or six episodes easily. Even though I live in Simpsonville, the last one was my first time going. It was _BY FAR_ better than all the SC Comicons I've been to. Rob from Borderlands isn't the greatest of guys (asshole *cough cough*), and the show reflects that. Years ago I was told by an employee that when they were being a jerk to me, that means they like me 😑.
JUST ❤ WHEN YOUR NEW SHOW DROP!!!! SOOOOOO COOOOL 2 👀 WHAT YOU ALL R DOING!!!! THANK YOU ALL 4 THE AMAZING THING'S YOU ALL DO,AND SHOW US!!!! THANK'S AGAIN!!! CAN NOT WAIT UNTIL NEXT TIME!!!!!😂❤🙏🫶👍
44 y/o here, and even though I don't collect the stuff from my childhood (all about modern stuff), I still could relish in all that vintage goodness. About the only lines I don't have a lot of knowledge on are Transformers and Joe. For whatever reasons, those two lines didn't graduate into adulthood collecting.
Hi joes are hands down my fav I have a few transformers but more into voltron and robotech when it comes to robots gundams kinda cool too. But there will never be as good of a toy as 3.5inc GI joes. Was big into 21st cent toys too. Idk I just love watching this I have lots of my toys packed up makes me want to go though them
What breaks my heart is I live less than 30 minutes away, but haven't had a car in years. Only been able to go to Ryan's new store once....and it was a day where Mick Foley just happened to pop up. Apparently you just never know what's gonna happen at the Toy Federation.
I’m a real ghostbusters collector and in my opinion those first run yellows bubbles are openers. Not worth getting graded. And would be nicer opened today be displayed loose mint.. but I’m also a loose collector.. the guy seemed to think he was gonna get alot for them.. great video !
man, you rarely see The Real Ghostbusters series 1 figures (Ray, Peter, Egon, Winston) unopened. Those toys were beloved. The kids that got them opened them and played with them to death.
Are their specific price guides in Toy collecting like there is in comic collecting? I’m asking because I see eBay being used almost exclusively on these videos to grade comics … I never exclusively use eBay sold prices in comic collecting because it’s really not a good representation of the entire market and could be an anomaly…. I know in comics I’ll use a number of different sources to lock in on a realistic price for a book ….. I’m just wondering if the same can be found in toy collecting and there’s a Overstreet guide for the hobby.
Not really, eBay sold listings are best way to see what the market is willing to pay. Most items will sit if priced too high. Just take an average of the sold listings and also see what you can buy one for. On rare items it’s a lot harder to use eBay because you can only view listings up to like 60 days or something. But there is apps/websites you can subscribe to that let you view all sold listings for the last 2-3 years, that would be the best option in my opinion.
Yea, a comic shop owner I frequent says he doesn't like selling graded comics and won't buy outright (will sell commission) because it locks the price at a certain amount (good or bad) and it also locks the item away. Not a fan either although it is a great way to preserve.
Saga! We had a kid in grade below me (I think we were in junior high at the time) and he took a shockwave and made the first custom I ever saw, creating a Ted Bundy figure out of a couple Fisher price little people he cobbled together. He took the shockwave and made it into an electric chair for the serial killer Ted bundy. Unfortunately four or five years later I sold him all of my joe collection for 150 bucks (I needed a water pump for my rustang). I still regret that. Only thing I knew was that kid would take good good care of the joes like I did.
Mrs Whatsit said breathlessly, “Oh, my darlings, I’m sorry we don’t have time to say good-bye to you properly. You see, we have to-” But they never learned what it was that Mrs Whatsit, Mrs Who, and Mrs Which had to do, for there was a gust of wind, and they were gone.
Did we pass on a good deal with those Ghostbusters toys? And who was excited to see Shady Sega Guy!?
Hard to say, but the yellowing DOES put a visual damper on them for sure. For display purposes I'd say pass, just based on asking price....but I'm a fan of the channel, far from an expert🤷👍
Are you in the business of losing money?
Yellowing ruins the whole mint on card thing for me. I avoid.
Hard pass…. Lovely items though
No needed more Froggy Flips in that episode

The Shockwave is so cool. I need Megatron and Jetfire then I'll be pretty happy with my g1 collection.
Wonder if they ever get the 1976 Micronauts toys. I had a few growing up and loved those. Everything basically interchangeable with the others.

This channel is great and different from other related content. Channel will grow overtime keep up the good work lad's.
His Rick Moranis Lewis impersonation without seeing him talk was pretty damn spot on!
It sucked and was too long and cringeworthy .
Where can I see more of Travis's art?

Yes he does! In the first episode of toy con from two weeks ago we put up is IG handle

Any chance you have a Bravestarr Thunderstick cape that you would sell?
The "Our founder" Tshirts are legendary
Are Z.O.I.D.S collectable?,I had a bunch in the 80's. Not my favourite toyline but still had fun with them.
Anything is collectible.. Some people collect used candy wrappers and empty soda/beer cans.
Ahh that's cool and I am addicted to your videos. I always learn new information from your videos, thanks and I look forward to your new uploads.😉

F'ing love this channel ❤❤❤
I love thart Dukes Of Hazard car, it would be cool if it came with a sexy Daisy figure.
Keep her away from craaaaaaazy Cooter.
Its sooooo hard to collect toys and not open them 😂
That’s why I buy two if I can. One to open and another to collect.
Look, i buy pretty expensive lego sets. I never built them. Just don’t have the time. I looking at the amazing boxes they have these days.

and then it drops as soon as pixel dan comes in lol
