Value comes from rarity. Nothing mass produced today will have rarity. Nostalgia products will not have value. the future market will not have that nostalgia connection that the market now does.

The fact that funco had the nerve to sell the same figure all over the place and the only reason they are limited is because of a little sticker says it all.

I see alot of people hating on pops so i just want to chime in as to why i personally collect them, they hold more licenses than any toy company ever, with that said i like that i am able to grab anything from a star wars figure to a cat in the hat figure, whatever it may be thats nostalgic and they display the same, same size, same semetrical appearance on a shelf. Its nice having different characters from different franchises that you love in the same visual likeness, when you have random stuff from different companies it just looks like clutter, i will say however alot of the newer ones are worthless because mass production, the older ones tend to retain or gain in value especially limited piece ones. But regardless of what you collect you better love it because if not you may lose alot of money trying to get rid of it later. Kids nowadays watch other kids play w toys on youtube, they arent really collecting things so i suppose it will all be valueless in the future
As much as I can't stand Pops (including the roughly 10-12 that I somehow wound up with), I do see your point. To be fair, a couple of the Little Shop of Horrors Pops that I have are actually really cool, mainly because the plant doesn't fit into the moronic look they give all the human characters (Those dead eyes drive me crazy). The uniformity is what kept them alive this long. Seriously though, who has space for these new giant ones they're pushing? Not even the stores that are trying to carry them have space.
And you can't even use them to build a shelter...total waste. One thing you never see is a collection of them opened. I mean, what's the point with opening them, but still, just weird I've literally never seen loose ones.

Pops aren't really my thing but it was interesting to watch. I thought the resale prices had dropped on them. So it was great to see how it was affecting the market.
used to have a huge stranger things pop collection that was worth at the time a couple thousand- got sick of them and sold the whole set for less than two hundred. would rather take a couple bucks over keeping the collection. they’re dumb and the market is unbelievably over saturated.
This was the most intense 'docu-reality' episode i've seen since early seasons of COPS! ... seriously though, this upload was entertaining to watch and there were interesting pieces in the background that caught my eye.
I can see people buying them to decorate their cubicle or their work area at home. I'm still amazed that they are still in business. I thought they were going to be the next beanie babies.
What's so 'absurd' about it? For me, Funkos are just a 'scam'.... For example, years ago I bought a 'Titanfall 2' figure from McFarlane for $49.99, and last year I sold it for $300 on eBay. That's also 'Hot Toy-like value' - so what? The figure is at least extremely detailed and doesn't have a high production rate - Because it's McFarlane. Funkos, on the other hand - even the 'exclusives/limited editions' from various 'Comic Cons' or 'Walmart Exclusives' - are just a 'scam' and can and could be produced in 'absurdly high numbers.' It's just 'artificial scarcity' from Funko. (Or whatever the Company is called) Funkos are simply the 'modern-day Beanie Babies' and completely worthless. They're also bought by people who otherwise have nothing to do with the whole 'collecting' and 'merchandise'-thing They're just so boring. With most 'figures/statues' (or whatever), you can 'make' money - you often get at least the money back that you paid for them, or even see a small 'increase in value. but I wouldn't even pay $5 for Pops... I can understand buying like 3-4 of them because there's nothing else available, but otherwise? For example, I have 'Earl and Baby Sinclair' as Pops - the only two I own because I couldn't find any other 'figures' or similar items from 'The Dinosaurs' Show. (And Baby Sinclair just looks funny af with that big ol' head) But now NECA is releasing a nice line of 'The Dinosaurs' figures.
Funko pop prices always changes. The sticker variations tends to be what most ppl look at. I collect certain pops. But i remember master of the universe funko pops overproduced. That's why some go for very cheap. I see them everywhere
You guys ever consider doing toy videos. Like GI Joe, Transformers, He-Man, etc. Give you a chance to play with toys and show how your products can bring joy. Alot of collectors make videos, just curious if be fun and good for your business too.
Growing up you'd think a owning a store like this would be the coolest thing. But watching them crunch the numbers for all these random assorted toys while you got other shoppers coming in would drive my anxiety up the wall. Plus prices for these things can fluctuate wildly and you always need to be aware to properly price your current inventory.
Only reason to buy those crappy pop dolls is if a celebrity is gonna be at a con that youre looking to meet. Theyre cool autograph pieces. Thats IT!! I have about 7 of these things simply because im a fan of the person theyre modeled after.
I’m really surprised you bought em, everywhere I see them now they are red tagged. If y’all have any Sectaurs I would love to see them in a video. Great video as always 👍🏻.
At one point I collected the entire line of Pokemon Pops. Ended up selling them all (likely broke even) as they take up way too much space when I moved. No regrets... way over-produced, and even the exclusives hardly go up in value especially considering the cost of ebay fees and s/h in comparison to other collectibles like trading cards. I'm sure that guy had $2000 into them, but ultimately "space" is worth more than the loss.
They were the troll dolls of current times, everyone that collected pops was a fake nerd basically hunting those limited pops as they came out, it’s evil marketing taking advantage of fools
great video as always. no way i would have given 800 for the pops. i think people are going to learn a hard lesson for trying to waste time and money trying to track down and get all of those rare pops. i had a man at arms pop though. i liked the exaggerated proportions of the armor on him. the cases are looking good. glad the mythic legions are selling well. i like the talk of getting something into the store like having an account with them and then showing them and talking about how they sell.
Just came home from a local comic con and tons of booths were filled with funko pops. They just seem to sit there. Remind me of beanie babies. I have no interest, but hey to each their own

I love that Megatron og. I will never forget getting it the year it came out as the center piece present that Christmas. It is my fondest Christmas memory next to the Return of the Jedi year when I got all Rebel and Imperial starships :).
When I walk in your store I’ll be asking for you to point me towards the Dairy Products section lol. The opener had me cracking up.
Pops aren't really my thing but it was interesting to watch. I thought the resale prices had dropped on them. So it was great to see how it was affecting the market.
Glad you got something out of it!
used to have a huge stranger things pop collection that was worth at the time a couple thousand- got sick of them and sold the whole set for less than two hundred. would rather take a couple bucks over keeping the collection. they’re dumb and the market is unbelievably over saturated.
They don't buy on the average, they buy on a 1/3 of the average, so you can flip it to make a profit.
This was the most intense 'docu-reality' episode i've seen since early seasons of COPS!
... seriously though, this upload was entertaining to watch and there were interesting pieces in the background that caught my eye.
That’s great!!
the film style for this video was excellent
Do you have any vintage toys? "No, but our shelves are full of Funko.".
I’d buy those MUSCLES if I ever went to your store. 😁✌️👍
Gotta love the toy box stare off thinking of a price
Funko Pops belong in the same landfill as the Atari ET game
I dug those up long ago
Love the show, pops suck but I’d watch anything from u guys, wish u put out more than one a week but I get it
Wish we got enough in to post more than one a week haha
I can see people buying them to decorate their cubicle or their work area at home. I'm still amazed that they are still in business. I thought they were going to be the next beanie babies.
They’re made for those who aren’t collectors
@@toyfederation I totally agree. The only one I would probably buy for myself is the Godzilla.
Oh nice
Why buy those when the superior amiibos exist?
Hell yes! (Answer - because they're cheap). Nothing waters down a toy collection like a bunch of stupid Pops.
I actually like funkos a lot. But when some of them reached hot toys 1/6 scale price that’s just absurd
Funkos, on the other hand - even the 'exclusives/limited editions' from various 'Comic Cons' or 'Walmart Exclusives' - are just a 'scam' and can and could be produced in 'absurdly high numbers.'
It's just 'artificial scarcity' from Funko. (Or whatever the Company is called)
Funkos are simply the 'modern-day Beanie Babies' and completely worthless.
They're also bought by people who otherwise have nothing to do with the whole 'collecting' and 'merchandise'-thing
They're just so boring.
(And Baby Sinclair just looks funny af with that big ol' head)
But now NECA is releasing a nice line of 'The Dinosaurs' figures.
That’s just not what we do. This is our style and what sets us apart
That sunglasses tan should be criminal
Only reason to buy those crappy pop dolls is if a celebrity is gonna be at a con that youre looking to meet. Theyre cool autograph pieces. Thats IT!! I have about 7 of these things simply because im a fan of the person theyre modeled after.
I’m really surprised you bought em, everywhere I see them now they are red tagged. If y’all have any Sectaurs I would love to see them in a video. Great video as always 👍🏻.
We sold them all 2 weeks later
@@toyfederation that’s awesome.
It was! Thank you!
I'm sure that guy had $2000 into them, but ultimately "space" is worth more than the loss.
yeah pokemon cards are the better investment
Store looking even better.. keep up the good work, best wishes my bro’s💯🎱 all the way from Jersey with ❤️
I dont know why people collect Funkos. Theyre overpriced and overproduced. I never bought into the hype!
They were the troll dolls of current times, everyone that collected pops was a fake nerd basically hunting those limited pops as they came out, it’s evil marketing taking advantage of fools
Absolutely hate POPS and super glad i never jumped on the POPS choo choo. Ok, my 8 bit NES Jason Voorhees is the only one i had to have😅
Love every video! 😊
Love that you love every video!
"Hot Topic Exclusive" Right next to "Only at Walmart" I mean this is literally false advertisement right there. Its frankly disgusting.
The modern day beanie baby
Pops are probably the worst thing to ever take up store shelves.
Pops are the dumbest fad to happen to toy collecting since beanie babies.
I think they've lasted longer as a fad than Beanie Babies did. I'm not sure why. Beanie Babies are at least still cute TOYS.
Awe, you don't think Pops are cute? haha
@@toyfederation Madballs are cute, but Pops are not. Lol
great video as always. no way i would have given 800 for the pops. i think people are going to learn a hard lesson for trying to waste time and money trying to track down and get all of those rare pops. i had a man at arms pop though. i liked the exaggerated proportions of the armor on him. the cases are looking good. glad the mythic legions are selling well. i like the talk of getting something into the store like having an account with them and then showing them and talking about how they sell.
Thanks! Our production crew does a really good job of forming the story of the show!
excellent video as always!
Just came home from a local comic con and tons of booths were filled with funko pops. They just seem to sit there. Remind me of beanie babies. I have no interest, but hey to each their own
Which Con?
@@toyfederation it was in Miramar, FL not a big event, but fun time for the kids overall
Oh nice! I'm from Miami!
@@toyfederation 🤙🏻 Another reason to support the channel!
Yea! Killer!
