I was there for my first ever toy convention when I bumped into this transaction. What I can say is that this guy was a total jerk from start to finish. His approach and mannerism brought my attention from multiple booths away, and this fool was loud, arrogant, and obnoxious. You will see me passing by, time stamp 12:13, with a man-bun, long beard, a black jacket with my left hand holding my book-bag strap with my sloth hanging, looking left to this transaction. Ryan's patience and total respect to this clown amazed me, even though he felt disrespected. Thank you, Ryan, for making my first choice of toy convention experience, well worth it. P.S. this is the soldier you met who just came from his overseas deployment. Thanks for everything. You rock, my dude! 🤘🏻
@bradpoc2791, you're right, my friend. I was at the Toy Federation's Toy Convention last November when I bumped into this bizarre transaction, plus the one who gave Pixel Dan the mint Toxic Crusaders Apocalypse Helicopter.
The irony of his shirt saying “Be Kind”. Dude was overly aggressive, arrogant and just liked hearing himself talk. Didn’t deserve any of your business. Props to you for standing firm! Nice video as always.
The way I see it, it's just business, nothing personal. They're both out there trying to get the most for their dollar. Seller could have closed the door on the buyer at any time if he really wanted to. End of the day they both walked away happy.
that guys name is james and he was arrest for running a tag switching scheme on toys at targets and walmarts and his house was raided pretty sure you can google him.
The guy haggling claiming he wants to do more business doesn’t have a clue about creating serious business relationships. Haggling like that will make you never want to work with someone again, even if they have the money.
I think that dude in the “Be Kind” T-Shirt is the author of “How to Enjoy the smell of your own farts, never win friends, and absolutely not influence people”
As a reseller, you get so many people that come in and low-ball you. They act like they are going outof their to do you a favor buying your stuff. I'll light it ablaze in the street rather than sell to some people. I have it, you want it. I don't need to sell. Be nice and respectful things will usually turn out differently.
"When are you going to get me in the actual store?". Bruh, you're barely tolerable for 5 minutes at the convention. Chased Ryan off quickly, and then tried to arm wrestle other person. "Cause I'll win". Absolute wacko.
I'm not going to lie...One reason I like selling at flea markets is so I can tell "pickers" to go eff off. I'll be glad for someone to make me an offer. As long as it's not insulting, I'll work with them until we get somewhere. But if some picker jerk comes up and tries to buy everything I've got for ten bucks, I get no greater joy than telling them I'm not going to sell them anything for ANY price! Some people just want to get a great deal, whether it be show or a flea market. But some people just want to act like know-it-alls and pretend they're on American Pickers. And I'm mainly there to relieve stress from my real job by telling off scumbags. God help the morons that want to get over on me. I've sold a box full of first edition Pokemon cards to a kid for four bucks just to spite some rich kid who shoved him out of his way. Life is good!
I now regard the Toy Federation with even greater respect in terms of business and management. Even though the customer is always right, that doesn't mean you must give away a sale. Sometimes, walking from the deal is the better option.
This might be my favorite convention video yet. I usually like the horse trading in the shop more, but the negotiations here were really fun to watch. And credit to your camera person and editor for presenting the selling process in a way that was easy to follow.
The last two guys were awesome. Loved how the other guy helped his friend! And you were really generous to him, calm and understanding. Even when you were 'so mad you walked away' you were still nice.

Toy federation once again showing what a classy guy he is dealing with an obnoxious douche. Tell the guy you’re price and walk away. If he doesn’t like it then take a hike you were more than patient.

That buyer looks just like James Adkins from Murfreesboro Tennessee who was arrested in 2019 for being involved in a toy theft ring. May or may not be him.
I appreciate your patience with the dude with the Warrior Beasts. Its like you had to literally hold his hand and walk him through how you MAKE MONEY in your business. Paying him $200 for a figure so you can hold it for six months and sell it for $200 is not a recipe for financial success lol. It seems like he's not really understanding that? He seems like a good dude, I hope he keeps learning and having fun in the hobby.
I beat my plastic addiction a few years ago. It took getting a few key pieces along the way to realize I ultimately don't do anything with them. I don't resell. I just look at them. But yeah you have to check it off and satisfy the nostalgia craving before you realize it's just plastic.
