My wife s dad was in the Korean war he disabled 3,000 pound bombs on the deck of the Aircraft Carrier Roosevelt, he also searved in Guam ! Never told us untill that movie with the bombs that he disarmed ones on the Carrier deck and in Korea the most mined country on earth at that time !!! Hi Mike !!! 16:36
Update: Ended up with 2 70's Era and 1 1969 after this. Let me tell you, they were rescued from pawn shops and they all still have original hinges and pins from what I can tell. They are gonna be daily drivers (both 70's had recent cosmetic alterations that ruined the patina unfortunately) gonna get one of em to a doctor for a new pin, I'm still unpracticed with the push pin trick and I definitely don't wanna screw these up. Moral of the story is, if you spot a 70's with an original hinge for sale,, it probably belongs in your collection. Chooooonky hinges INDEED
I’ve got a 67 Euclid truck lighter with a matching pat’d insert. It was used to death, and by the time I got it the cam spring was nonexistent. So what I did was tighten the cam rivet, then bend the tab on the inside of the lid to keep it closed tight. It works great!
I don't think I have ever seen anyone so excited to get tiny ziploc bags and bubble wrap in my life lol. Also, easiest way to get to the date of the Roman numerals is knowing that the 1st year was 1986 and they used 2 II instead of just 1. Also, XVI was 2000, so you could subtract from there. An example would be IX (9), Knowing XVI is 2000 and it is 16, You could subtract the 9 from 16=7, so 2000-7 is 1993. Some people find it easier to do it that way because they started with II in 1986 so it is a little confusing.
I am sure you will be able to make them spectacular. I would like to add one thing: I tried to put a pipe cleaner instead of the wick, and the result is fantastic, powerful and full flame, but after 3 days, the zippo remained dry. Practically the pipe cleaner absorbs a lot by capillarity, and then all the naphtha absorbed, comes out through the closure of the case. I find no other explanation. I'm sorry if I went off topic, but it is very important for me to communicate my experiments to my Canadian brother.

Thank you for helping me roughly date my zippo striped zippo with engraving square I believe middle right lighter on the thumbnail wasn't sure if it was my uncle's zippo from Vietnam or my grandfather's from ww2
I do like the tactile feel of a zippo but in reality useless for someone who enjoys smoking. I can not go out with a zippo and depend on fuel to last me the night, I always have to have a bic backup. I had my zippo only two years and the hinges broke. I just ordered an IMCO 6600&6700 and a Zorro zipper, so hopefully one of these lighters will hold up to my smoking regime.

@@ZippoFanatic77 If i wasn't busy I'd request a custom order of 50. They'd probably do it, they've used red crackle on regular Zippos. Then if they ever did a stock run, these would be worth more with an earlier date code. The Camel C-note Zippo was my idea, which i suggested to the guy who was choosing the designs for Camel. I have one of the 5 or 6 prototypes of it given to me, which is on white matte. If i recall, only 50 of them were produced for the company store.

My 53 has the same giant 5 barrel pin, I think it ended with the 55s
