My grandfather found a brass Zippo on the Western Front in Germany in 1944. It just looks great. I think the older the brass gets, the more beautiful it becomes.
Damn, that‘s history in a little lighter. Greetings from germany
I feel that even the beat up brass looks better than chrome. When it’s worn it proves that it’s well used, and when it’s old and worn, it shows that you take care of it.
Beat up brass doesnt show fine scratches either. New channel come check it out lost this one
I think used brass looks badass
Its a lot better
Being a vet, I love the beat up brass look.
Vet as a veterinarian?

I like mine shiny but it's all chewed up from bottle caps, and I love it
Yeah tarnished the best. New channel everyone. Lost this one. Come check it out
I have a brass 1941 replica and I love the way it looks and I polish it once a month and the worn polished look on it is amazing
Also, always get a street chrome first. It's already pre-scratched, if they have a street chrome armour, book that. That will probably become an heirloom. I have one from the 90s, and it has a black plastic emblem, so I set a nice Australian black opal on it, like a very thin 15 by 10 mm cabochon, and used the plastic to form a bezel. Now it's the most expensive one, has a brilliant play of colour, looks different at every angle and I only take it out when I want to dress to impress. Ya, but the street chrome on the back, still feels like new, because you can polish it.
P.s. Unless you practice lapidary, or are a Physics and Chemistry nerd like me, or a metal nerd and Zippo Fanatic like Jim here, please do not try to set gems on your own. You can break them, not all of them are good with heat, and some crack really easily. Ethiopian Opal is like that. I know because I have lost like 100-120 dollar hydrophane translucent fire opal with inclusions like vines while trying to do that. Not fun. Go to a jeweller.
Good looking out on polishing up the chrome. I've got an embossed camel that is in dire need of that treatment.
On my 2024 brass zippo it has a clearcoat on it. I'm hoping this means paint will adhere to it better and bond well with epoxy for clear coat. Good thing about brass is whatever clear coat you use you won't see yellow in future
this has to be one of the few greatest videos you have made
@@ZippoFanatic77 more like alot but this is only one of um
I prefer braas, because it reminds me of working on boats years ago that had brass birhtwork. Besides, since all but the silver and gold Zipposs start out as brass and are then plated, you know they will remain consistent, whereas chrome plating can be worn off.
Yeah me to brass or nothing. New channel of your interested I lost this one
carl approves of this message
Thanks carl
Hi Carl
I aprove Carl's message.
High polished chrome and high polished brass without logo are both the best colors, they are really shiny and have reflection, I also like satin chrome for a more solid and less reflective color. Very simple color schemes are best I think.
I restored my first zippo with help of your vids. Keep up the good work
I like the old brass look myself and polishing is easy, i do it by hand with some autosol.
Thanks man I have been getting into zippo products just in case I am in the wrong place at the wrong time This really helped
@@ZippoFanatic77 I have been your content is awsome
nice video! the local dealer where i am doesnt seem to have brass models, so i went with a black ice chrome for my first zippo. hoping to grab an armor soon though.
I have a copper zippo that I like to keep shiny. Flitz Metal Polish. Stuff is AMAZING! Some jewelers rouge on a rag works great too.
Good video with good explanation. it reminds me that brass and chrome zippo is timeless
They sure are. New channel lost this one
The reason i watch this video it is because I order High Polish Solid Brass 254 today. Buy from Shopee. Its expensive at my country. Cant wait to have it. Already have chrome Zippo. Thanks for explanation.
I love brass im 18 and i got my first zippo when i was 16 it was a brushed brass zippo with the boondocks saint’s prayer on it i like the wore and tore look a little bit im glad im not the only one
Brass! It Patinas real pretty.
I'm looking for a zippo that suits me. I dont smoke much but when I do smoke cigars with my friends I want a lighter that has character and beautiful. This video has helped me with my choice. Prob gonna go with brass. Thank you
@@ZippoFanatic77 not sure yet. I'd like to get a zippo with engraved cross and get my my favorite bible verse engraved. Not to sure yet tbh
@@ZippoFanatic77 I'll remember that man. I have a buddy who does lazer engravings on pretty much anything so I'll probably get in touch with him. But idk if he does engravings on brass yet tho. I will keep you in mind tho

Thanks for the knowledge 🇺🇸🇨🇦🇺🇸
Ahhh the good old brass or chrom fight. I'm Team brass
The patina is the character.
I like brass and chrome pretty evenly. But, at the moment, my favourite Zippo is the solid copper one they released last year. Just so sexy... and that black plated insert, my god!
I think brass with a forced patina is one of the best looking materials for edc items
I’ve a chrome zippo from 2001 it only had about 5 years use and the chrome has already worn half the lighter back to brass so a brass lighter is the better way to go since it’s already polished brass
Great Work
Cool Info/Keep it up
I think there All kind of Sweet and Unique
Thanks
Brass has alot more character. Have a black with brass under and am turning into something cool. Remove the black in such a way as to create a design that can shine through. Got the idea from a very expensive titanium one
My first one that I bought was a 1975 street chrome, at a antique store for 8$ I ordered myself as a daily carry a polished chrome zippo slim
Nice enjoying the zippos. Have a new channel now if your interested I lost this one
I have several of both. Like the old days look of brass better.
My first Zippo is Guinness polish brass and I love it.
Nice ! Very good zippo you start off with. If u have any questions gotta ask me on my new channel I lost this one.
Today, I've bought my first high polish brass armor Zippo 🤩
@@ZippoFanatic77 yeah! And thanks to your vids, I know how to get started and set up the lighter!

I would love to have a chrome one
Keep it up
I want a 41 Replica in brushed brass, so cool looking.
I got brass to match my edc and i cant wait for it to patina
I love chrome look. I have 1 high polish brass but i give that for my brother. And i take my brushed slim zippo bcs i like chrome. It's shiny than brass
Yeah every finish has its advantages. New channel I can’t post here anymore I lost it. I have my live streams and new content over there
I like that aged brass look ik going to put the jet insert in.
Personally I prefer chrome, but I'd rather have this old brass matt finish than shiny chrome with all these scratches. You mentioned these scratches can be prevented with chrome cleaner, but can you remove them if they appear with some kind of polish? I'm pretty sure you don't do this because you prefer your zippos looking used, but if there is a way i would love to know how.
Also, I just repainted my first zippo (yeah it just so happened that my first zippo was painted matt black, so I thought it would be nice to give it a new look since the old paint started to tear off a bit), and when I removed the old paint it didn't look like brass (i.e. it wasn't yellow at all), I initially thought it was steel, but you mentioned they are all brass, just coated. So what can it be? I was thinking about stripping it off paint once the new one wears off, and polishing it to make it just metal, but I guess its important to know wich metal you are working on. It's from 2008, if it helps. By the way, thanks for advice from another video to remove paint with acetone, I probably wouldn't have figured that out on my own even though it seems obvious now)
I use "Wicked" metal Polish on Brass Zippos.
I love that brushed brass. really, 1941 replica
Man imma try to make a silver case one day
My first Zippo was a Belle Korgan Brass. It's beautiful in my opinion
I use one of the cheap one and one 1941 replica black and it’s patient number and have a collection of military ones
are those bottom two brass that are used brushed or were they high polish?
Not going to lie my favorite edc right now is a street brass that was actually a blue matte with sticker that I removed from soaking in acetone. It was a free lighter from the mystery lighter special zippo runs once in a while. Thanks for getting me going on the brass haha.
Really want a Venetian
How about the tumbled brass finish? Will It need less cleaning and polishing? Thanks
I like the brass to. It looks old after a while. But it can be 1 year old . And looking like 20 years old . Now i bought a 1955 one that is never been used. Original Box and price sticker still on it. Say 3.50$
I've had mine for about 3 months now, it's smudged and has shallow scratches and it looks great. It's part of my daily carry. Polished brass looks too sterile, like a JROTC belt buckle, I prefer something that shows wear. Polished does look classy, but I'd be less inclined to carry something like that.
Nice work growing your channel.
@Zippo Fanatic 77
You're welcome. I carry a folding knife or neck knife, watch, sunglasses, wallet, keys, water. Maybe more if I'm planning to be out & about. It sucks, shorts having none/minimal pockets, it's why I switched to a neck carry, my folding knives were pulling my shorts down. When you imagine your keys rubbing against your Zippo, does it give you that nails on a chalkboard feeling? It kinda does to me…
@Zippo Fanatic 77
Not yet, I wanted to reply here before. Also, I noticed it has a slightly longer runtime, I want to be able to watch it uninterrupted. Sounds really useful by the title.
@@thefestivalofatonement2470 do your pants have a watch pocket? Zippos will fit perfectly in it and it polishes the metal so it's always clean when you full it out I have used this method for 2 or 3 years
@@warthief3401
Watch pocket? I'm guessing these are a type of slacks pants you're referring to? This sounds like a good idea, how it's self cleaning. My pants have that typical small hip pocket, I've never tried to fit in a Zippo, but I know a classic bic lighter will fit.
@@thefestivalofatonement2470 if you put a metal lighter in it the fabric will polish the metal and get rid of the finger prints and oils. I don't know if the pocket is on anything but shorts because I only wear pants. But somtimes the pocket is to big so it falls out of course you can have your pants tailored but If you where to do that I would recommend putting a button on it also I know the germans in ww2 had a watch pocket on there pants that had a button if I can find a link I will send it to you.
If im going old school vintage I go brass cause I wanna see the wear I wanna see the age. If I'm going brand new I'll go chrome. But for my collection I focus on variaty.
Great video. Anyone tell you, you sound like the robocop actor? XD
I like this is an older video and all but…. You said that chrome will last longer are you talking about hinges? I love the way brass looks but I’m curious if the hinges are a little weaker on the brass ones. I have a 1941 replica and I find that the hinge is always getting out of alignment, and I’m not rough with it at all.
Im late but i bought these types of lighters but not zippo branded..mine ended up to be a brass covered with black crackle and a chrome insert.

Brass o made in Canada ! Like a new penny
my first zippo was a black zippo but then i got a chrome i have yet to get a brass zippo in a short time
Great video, and quite informative. I bought a classic chrome replica zippo recently but when I use it, some reflective particles rub off onto my hand. ( I think it could be the metal flaking, but it’s brand new). Do you know what this could be?
Zippo Fanatic 77 , no I don’t see anything on the zippo, however my hands are covered in small reflective/shiny flakes after use. Im not sure what it could be since the metal on the zippo seems to be fine. I tried researching this problem online and couldn’t find anything.
Zippo Fanatic 77 it has to be coming off of the zippo, because I opened the package and tested it, after which I looked at my hands and noticed the shining residue left on my hands. I don’t think it was cheaply made, because I bought it off of the zippo website.
Zippo Fanatic 77 it happens every time I use the zippo, even after washing it a few times with dish soap.
Zippo Fanatic 77 alright, is there a lifetime Guarantee (asking because I received the zippo a few months ago and haven’t been able to figure out the problem)
Zippo Fanatic 77 alright, thanks man
