  • BRANDMADE.TV shows you how the iconic Zippo Lighter is made.
80+ years and counting, the Zippo is still proudly Made in America - in Bradford, Pennsylvania.
The Zippo classic lighter, with its 'click heard 'round the world' is one of the most recognizable
pieces of American culture. And now, in this 5-minute video you can see how this tiny
wonder is made? These little bringers light are deceivingly complex with over one hundred manufacturing operations required for a single Zippo to spring to life. Windproof, one hand operation and guaranteed for life, there is nothing else quite like a Zippo.

This company has great customer service. I got some old Zippos from my grandfather that were missing parts. I emailed them saying I needed flint screws and felt pads for them, not thinking they'd send me any, but 2 weeks later I got them in the mail free of charge. And they also replaced my broken insert for free. All I had to pay for was shipping to send the old one to them which was only $5.

There are distinctive sounds that we all know that are unique and cannot be confused with any other; a police siren, baby crying, a Harley Davidson, throat singing, a V8 engine, the Huey, the whistling death of the F4 Corsair, the Australian Kookaburra, the pops and cracks of a vinyl record, and this... the Zippo lighter.

When you are talking about the Zippo lighters you have to include the Vietnam War. It was a lighter of choice for soldiers in Vietnam. Vietnam was hot and damp which made the lighter quite popular because itlit every time. It was quite common to have almost anything engraved on it by a Vietnamese engraver. Also the engraver could attach your unit emblem......

Zippo actually modernized their lighter by adding butane insert options to their product line. But personally, I would stick to the old-fashioned wick lighter since it is more reliable. No seals that could break. In butane lighters, once one of those seals breaks, you're almost always done. Nothing much you could do than throwing it away. My Zippo from 1956 is still working like a charm unlike a butane lighter of the same age.

Buy a 1941 Replica Black Crackle. This is a close as you can get to the actual lighters that the GI's were given back in 1941. They were not made of brass or chrome-plated, no fancy finishes just zinc electro-plated and black crackle (over-backed black paint) I've collected about 150 Zippos in my lifetime, sold a few, kept a few, recently bought several more and I'm not even collecting em anymore!! I had to have a 360-degree laser etched and a couple 540-degree powder-coated designs....they're just too cool and you'll never be satisfied with just one Zippo!

  • @lusciouskollektibles8663

@@XxMidnightToker420xX I don't know what you could do wrong. They're pretty simple, but perhaps it's a function of where we live. I was living near Boise, Idaho in the high desert. I gave up on carrying a Zippo about twenty years ago because I could never get them to go past about five days before being out of fuel. They usually wouldn't go much beyond three. These days I carry a Zippo case with a butane insert in it.

    • @lusciouskollektibles8663
      @lusciouskollektibles8663 Год назад

That's a problem faced not just by Zippos, but by all petrol lighters of all makes. You want something that doesn't evaporate, you'll have to grab the lighter with the newer technology, that is the butane lighter. Problem is, butane lighters are not the most reliable lighters around.

    • @Apprentice_of_the_Leonine

    Zippo is super cool.
But: As a long-time Zippo user, it's a shame that the quality has declined over the last few decades.
All Zippos from the last twenty to twenty-five years have serious problems with the hinge.
The material thickness has also fundamentally become weaker.
Sure, there is the ArmorCase series, but it's basically pretty bad because the hinges on these models give way even more quickly.
I have an original Zippo from 1991, this Zippo is indestructible.
I use this '91 Zippo every day and it shows no weaknesses. The quality of these Zippos back then is unbeatable.
I don't understand why today's Zippos can't be built like they used to be.
In any case, I won't buy a Zippo from the last twenty years, the hinges wear out after a very short time.
I'll take my '91 Zippo with me to the urn 🏴‍☠️

Zippo's are the best. But Zippo should consider 1. Make in house a quality disposable lighter or license out their name to a quality disposable lighter company and go after that market. 2. Do more marketing to go after the youth market and other markets. Zippo should go after the X games crowd, the ig crowd and RUclips crowd. So many great potential nww and old customers tp go after. 3. License out their name or manufature themselves clothing and other quality U.S. made products with the quality Zippo name. Target outdoors camping types. What products could Zippo make for hikers campers, runners, bikers, fisherman, hunters?ect. Zippo stoves? heaters? camp cook stoves? Hand warmers? Knives? Shirts? Jackets? vests? Cookware? Shoes? The Zippo name has real weight and value and the company should wisely expand on it either through in house manufacturing or licensing. The possibilities are almost endless. It's time to expand the brand beyond lighters.

They already make hand warmers and other stuff on that list, found zippo knives and measuring tape in a few antique stores recently too.

Beautiful lighters, but inferior or outdated design. IMCO and Chinese Zorro lighters are much better.

They only work for a few months before the hinge fails, and the lid falls off. That's not repaired, so don't bother getting one engraved.

You thought you bought one at the flea market but you got a Chinese knock off. Send it to zippo and if it's one of there's they will take care of it. If you get the chance to go to the factory store go it's well worth your time

You guys should make them in China. I hear it's a lot cheaper over there.
