with regard to the different censors on Bubble and Pomni - the purpose of the bar is to prevent viewers from reading the character's lips. Pomni has a fully articulate mouth, while bubble just has puppet-like jawflaps, and thus can't be lipread
Doesn't Zooble still get a bar though?
@@matthewselbitschka5217 Zooble did get a bar in Episode 1, but it was only there to cover up the hand that was flipping the bird (which just so happened to appear at the same time the f-bomb was dropped). Good catch, though!
oh what curse word does pomi call jax tho cause one reaction i saw the person knew what it was im curious lol lol
Could also be an in universe thing where NPCs and Players have different censorship
@@49ersfanMattshe called Jax an asshole. Even the PG swear words are censored
I think the creator said Bubble wasn’t swearing when he was bleeped; what he said was just really gross.
Not to be rude but that context doesn't matter, thats literally the point of the bleep so we fill in the blank and assume what they said was super offensive.
@77DC77 technically theres a distinction because there were no auto caine censors over bubble's mouth, which means they werent actually swearing
Sounds [Really really really really really really really reallly gross]
It’s a sticky thing
make sence. i think the hindi dub is the only one that said something in that scene but might be remembering wrong.
The teapot is an inside joke for anyone working in the 3d animation industry. We use it for everything, yes for lighting but also texture or effect. Particulary in the software 3dsmax. My school hid a tiny teapot in our hoodie design.
Those teapots were a mystery to me when I saw it in the episode, I am happy I got it answered here in the video and comments. I love it
also the hidden teapot hoodie design? AMAZING
E
Classic Utah Teapot.
So... That teapot is to3d animators what "Hello World!" is to progammers
21:30 Just realized it’s an image AI’s attempt at writing “Maple!” XDD
OH! XD
And that’s the lore there, meanwhile Matt’s questioning if it’s code or secret coordinates. 😂
The groan from Ash when Matt said "Submissive and agreeable" is the voice of someone who knows a audio clip is born
@MalecUTTPbro stop
@@XDDUDEVRaltForget it, at this point just treat whoever behind these bots like what they were in TADC: *NPCs.*
They also probably know the original phrase it's referencing lol
I thought it was a call to bbno$ and smoshs music video, Submissive and Breedable 🤣 guess I'm wrong!!!!
I don’t get the reference
The whole out of bounds scene was genuinely amazing and if the quality of this series is on a level like that, this can be a great series even with it’s horrendous fanbase
Just ignore any of the bad things that came out of this show and don't let it ruin your experience ❤
IDK about the fanbase, the only part of the fanbase are the REALLY bad folks, but those are all content farms "A problem for every fanbase", most fanbases are drowned out by their loudest "most disgusting"members
Lots of fan bases can be bad. Try to ignore and the bad and enjoy the ride.
@KTippin1Its a bot

I’m crying 25:01 that was a completely involuntary reaction he actually has FNAF PTSD 😭
He couldn’t help himself
Ragatha in a nightmare sequence clearly being a projection of Pomni’s fear of isolation and abandonment : “Guess we’re not all cut out for it !”
Matt : mmm how cryptic, I wonder what this could mean
E
a random log appears
matpat: WHAT DOES IT MEEEAAAN!!???
Right? I love these nerds but they can really overthink small details. I guess that's the whole point of Game Theory.
that was kind painful how he over analyze the word it.
This reminds me of how Steph and him have always had such great chemistry, I bet that if she were here she’d bring him down to Earth instantly lol
Given that Pomni uses more 'modern' slang, it's possible they all came in at separate time periods. They also all mention coming in at different times in their lives in ep1 so Pomni using slang like "hype me up" makes a lot of sense.
This would also mean the 'game' they're in has been around for a while.
That's what i was thinking 🤔
Reminds me of Jumanji
If the amount of time they've spent in the game is 1-to-1 with the amount of time that's passed in the real world then a lot of the humans that have been in the game probably died of dehydration.
@@shadowgolem8643There is MatPat’s theory that they are just copies of people’s minds in the game.
This is the same thing I was thinking
For the record: There was a merch announcement video in which Cain states he has no canonical knowledge of the internet.
He needs to react to that because it actually has lore in it
Which is probably why he didn’t know what to put on the other side of the exit door. He has no knowledge of the world beyond the digital circus.
@@PG9_ the lore is that there is no lore…kinda funny huh? Or I guess it’s just confirming that Cain is unaware of information.
I wonder if the merch announcement is canon
That fact that he doesn’t know about the internet is probably the only canonical part of the announcement vid. But (just to share my own theories) I thought he was ai but now because ai is always learning I think he’s more of a npc that had an very weak limited ai that grew a lot lot lot but doesn’t have any access to things in the real world (I haven’t watched the vid yet so excited to see if mattpatt has any similar ideas) ANYWHO THANKS FOR READJNG
36:52 I am an artist myself and animator, I'm pretty sure that the reason we see a censor bar for Pomni and not bubble is due to the simple fact that bubbles character model is mostly a mouth, and so if you were to censor him while swearing you would pretty much be covering the whole character.
It was actually confirmed by the creators that the reason Bubble didn’t get a censor bar is because he didn’t actually swear, he just said something gross
That would be funny though.
20:24 I will say, as someone with an anxiety disorder and difficulties with sarcasm and social cues, I desperately need (and need people) to clarify when there isn’t any hard feelings. I will worry myself into nothingness assuming they hate me; and I definitely don’t want anyone to feel that way about me. I definitely vibe with Ragatha and think that’s exactly what she was doing
I really like this take!
Yeah, I think this is one of those uncommon times where when a person says "no hard feelings" they really mean it. I still think there's some hurt there based on Ragatha's facial expressions, but she understands why Pomni chose the exit and just wants to make that as clear as possible.
Yes this!!!
If you have many other social issues, you might wanna get it checked out, it could give you some answers lol
As soon as I saw this video, I immediately knew that Mat, Ash and Lee had lost their minds 💀

Pomni is not a child. None of them actually! Makes sense if like the Film Theory implies they're programmers or something in that field
Pomni- 25
Ragatha- 30
Jax- 22
Zooble- 22
Gangle- 26
Kinger- 48
Makes me a little alarmed because it feels like Kinger and Queenie being a pair could mean they were... Parents.
Those numbers also make it not impossible that they were JAX AND ZOOBLE’S parents
wait what if they are someones parents in the circus but both the parents and the kid forgot about eachother
@@envyj0 that’s what I said!
@@kittyplayz1480 alright sorry i wanted to include the possibility that they might have been anyone's parents
@@envyj0 oh no that wasn’t mad you don’t need to apologize I was excited that someone else had the same thought I did
The effect in the beginning of the episode is NOT interlacing artifact, it's an effect called Time Displacement, where pixels are displaced in time (in this case horizontal bands), here the lower the band the more delayed it is. I first learned about it from Vsauce video called DISTORTIONS
This effect was used in many video games from the SNES era to create a terrifying effect of scenarios that deformed into waves.
@@Nolroa wait what? can you provide an example?
I find the fact that Pomni knows what LARPing is to be really interesting considering the concept has never been particularly mainstream to my knowledge; and in a similar vein she has some surprising video game literacy displayed right after you left off for an adult in the late 90s/early 2000s
I thought it was confirmed that they're the game's devs
@@pirilon78 No that's just a theory
Like how Pomni told Gumigoo that he is an NPC, that they fell off the game map from a glitch collision, and also coming up with the genius idea of putting blocks underneath the truck to induce a glitch that will bounce them back up to the map. I’m pretty sure she was some computer programmer or something similar.
E
@@studior2962 A FILMMM THEORY
I feel like Jax is the only “player character” who actually kept his memories of the outside world and had worked as a developer/something else, which explains how he’s able to get keys for everyone’s rooms, break certain rules, and also has as little care for the “real” characters as he does for the npcs. “Aren’t you supposed to be submissive and agreeable” line reads to me like “why aren’t you responding like you’re supposed to?”
You make a really good point! His nonchalant attitude seems to contribute to it too. I feel like that sort of power mixed with Jax's personality is a VERY bad mix, though. He isn't exactly the sympathetic type.
the creator said on twitter that all the characters remember their pasts (just not their names for some weird reason) so Jax might just be being an asshole lol, him working as a developer would be SO interesting tho
@@juno6397So is he like one of those video game devs which abuse their workers and groom 13 year old girls on Discord? Maybe not that last part but that would explain his sociopathic nature.
@@juno6397 The devs also said that jax is the youngest, and while I don't remember the age he's around 21 in the series and has been in the program for a few years. In other words, unless this is a high school project, he's probably too young to be a developer.
@@kalmeira9502 ah fair point
my theory is that the game originally released in the 90s but it was shut down for being unstable, however the servers were kept online and Caine is the AI in charge of updating the game. all the people in the circus were people who got put in the game through a new VR update. Caine is not evil, but he has no clue how humans actually work so he just tries to keep them active and as happy as he can
Neat theory.
The Caine is not evil thing and doesn’t know humans thing is actually confirmed by Gooseworx. Once you know it makes him despawning Gummi a little less hurtful.
ahh just like Aura
True
that'd be so lazy lol, but good theory
Pomni's dream sequence gives me really strong vibes of Woody's dream sequence in toy story 2 where he has lost an arm and is now abandoned to the abyss of discarded toys by Andy and then dragged down by the other toys, like pomni getting her arm abstracted and casted into the basement by Cain
My thoughts exactly too. I also had to look up that Toy Story 2 scene when i first watched Pomni’s nightmare scene to verify if it was parodying off of that.
I'm reminded of a quote from The Good Place (the episode where they were doing the Trolley Problem): "See, buddy? Don't worry. None of it's real." "Well, they're fake people, but their _pain_ is real."
"Don't worry buddy, they aren't real, but their PAIN *is*. Does that make sense? :)"
I saw a tweet from Gooseworx saying that she wants the show to rather focus more on character arcs and such than theory crafting and hidden things and such
So THAT'S why everyone is wrong!
...awesome.
Yeah, they specifically said "sorry if you were looking forward to the hidden backstory, its gonna be 90% character stuff" basically lol
Which honestly im perfectly happy with. Especially after this episode.
@@fireking0531 Sadly it’s 5% more
Matpat: ok but "it"
But then MatPat won't react to the show anymore
I get the feeling from Ragatha that she's just desperately trying to fit in and feel joy, to make the best of her situation. So she throws herself into the roleplaying, including getting invested in the NPCs like the princess. It honestly made me really sad, when she's really the only one acting that way.
I genuinely feel like Ragatha is a people pleaser who really wants to take care of people and make them like her. She gives me warm/anxious big sister vibes.
@@RisaPlays yeah she is like a mother-like figure and I think she is maybe using this to cope and not go insane/ abstract maybe?
Jax 'fits in' in the opposite way. If Ragatha is the person who gets invested in a game's story, Jax is a person who gets invested in 'having fun' in games. The entire way he interacts with the adventure in this episode is to please himself and when he perceives things or others as getting in the way of his fun, he gets childishly moody and aggressive.
E
idk i think she's just accepted the situation she's in and is just trying to keep the group together as she knows the group getting along and helping each other through things is the best way to keep people from abstracting AKA their equivalent of dying. Sad either way tho ;-;
Remember, character models exist in a separate area than an npc's A.I, so gummygoo probably didn't forget anything about this encounter. He might be back later.
To give more context on the "Utah teapot" lee was talking about, It's great for testing because it doesn't require texturing or lighting to be recognizable, it can cast shadows on itself, it has points where the topology is "saddle shaped" (which is not so relevant anymore, but back when it was originally created computers had a harder time dealing with that) and has a hole on the spout. This means you're able to test almost every aspect of displaying a 3d model from code. From as basic as loading in the model to reflections and texturing.
The eyes on the live gummygoo are unfilled when he’s surprised or shocked, and filled in when he’s grounded
The copy of him has both versions of the eye because it’s easy to swap the filled in and non-filled in circles by moving them in and out of his face, it’s a common technique used for facial expressions in animation
Both are exposed because when you have a reference model that hasn’t been animated all the assets you’re gonna want are typically exposed so you’re well aware of what you’re working with
I wonder what he felt, seeing a lifeless-yet-alive version of him with two sets of eyes clipping into eachother.

@MalecUTTPDoes your leader live in Wichita, Kansas? Possibly specifically St Glenn? And the house number is 4658? I think thats possible
I feel like MPPEP is just a name randomly generated by Cain for the maple syrup
At 38:34, the reference here is from the indie game, "Pizza Tower" In which you press a key on your keyboard, controller, or what you play with, to do a "Taunt", which is also a parry in the game.
The reference is much older than that.
@@Sweetroll_Wolfie it's actually a pizza tower reference the brass hits are 1:1 with the game iirc
pretty sure its not exclusively a pizza tower reference, thats just the most recent example
It's definitely older, I think the devs of Pizza Tower were riffing off the same thing. My gut's telling me it's from PS1 or PS2 era.
I was thinking the Jet Set Radio sound effects
I feel like Ragatha's actions are consistent between episodes 1 and 2. I think she has a sort of 'toxic positivity' coping mechanism, just doing all she can to overlook and ignore all the bad things, and instead force herself to act excited and upbeat about other things. I also think she is also trying to pull Pomni into that same coping mechanism to try and help her, which is perhaps leading her to act even more overly upbeat than she would normally.
Cool theory!!
Also, anyone change from now and the last episode is probably because they're on an actual adventure and these are meant to keep them sane so Ragatha probably wants to engage with them as much as possible to... not go crazy
To correct you: Goose said the first 4 scripts were entirely set in stone before the pilot came out and they also elevated the episode count to 9 episodes final :)
Also, the semi-T-pose is called the A-pose.
Also also I don't know what it is but I just love hearing Ash talk lol
I love Ash’s voice too!
@@commentchameleon359 YES
E
47:07 its an A pose
personally, i feel like that the eye difference is due to the characters expression (50:42)
for the "real" character, it's clear that he has an expression of fear, disbelief, confusion. for the model, since it's a placeholder, you can assume that the expression is blank. something that also supports this is that the characters eye is filled before he discovers the models
maybe thats just me though
just thought to share my thoughts
I'd think it's the same two models for his eyes in the same place to avoid grabbing more stuff in the files. Like the two toggles on instead of two separate models
The idea of the beginning scene with Jaxx & Ragatha on the sides of Caine as being like God next to an angel & a demon is a pretty good catch. This reaction made me want to rewatch both episodes to try to understand it from the perspective of what Caine's motivation is for that specific adventure (the fact that he programs in a church of himself is telling). Also, checking for Jaxx's 4th wall breaks. Very fun reaction & commentary!
Two things. I believe the reason why maple syrup is so important in that place is because syrup is also referred to as "liquid gold". Also the pose the sprites are doing is referred to as the "A-Pose" instead of the classic "T-Pose"
A-Poses and V-Poses have their own pros and cons, they work differently in multiple regards.
Also, those are character models, not sprites. Sprites are just 2d images.
@@LiMe251I believe the default pose just has to be easy to see at all angles without being reposed making it easy for someone else to rig the model.
Maple syrup is also ridiculously valuable IRL. Genuine pure maple syrup goes for millions if you have enough. I believe there was even a famous heist involving a Maple Syrup tanker in Canada back in the day
the entire joke of the truck getting stuck and glitching out and that’s what causes it to fall beneath the map was such a good touch. they could’ve easily have just done it where they went out of bounds via end of the map and that’s how they fell but the look of it struggling in the wall is just *chefs kiss*
the gmod ragdoll sounds make it even better
Seriously! Props to the animators for all the amazing details!

38:50 So people will point out that this is from Pizza Tower, but I know why this is from Pizza Tower. So the joke here is the Gator made of candy isn't sugarcoating it.
The out of bounds scene is SO good, im sad they didnt get to see it in this episode,
Heres to hoping for a part two soon!
39:06 In Pizza Tower, Taunting causes you to dodge. I think that is what they are going for.
Edit (copied from @Descending): Hello, confirmed by Gooseworx that it's just meant to be a reference to games where you can press a button to style (Skating games, etc), she specifically clarified that it is not a pizza tower reference, if you can edit the comment and add this it would be cool. E
31:35 hearing him calling out Buffy The Vampire Slayer just brought a huge smile to my face bc I grew up with that show and how he is bringing it up makes me so happy :)
From what I thought, the show is about different charecters coping mechanisms to being kidnapped and forced into this game. Jax is aggressive and takes it out on others, the reason he is even more aggressive in ep2 is because he knows the characters are AI and he can do anything without consequences. Other characters try to be super nice, or cry when their facade breaks down. Pomni hasn't found hers yet.
That's why I based my mime OC on my "verbal shutdown" trauma response
Pomni’s is to laugh
I think the creators have some choice words on the consequences of mechanisms present in characters like Jax
Genuinely interested in your oc, thats a very cool base concept for a character! Care to share some lore? @@VanNessy97
at around 37:27 they talk about why bubble was bleeped but Pomni got the bar. I thinks its probably because bubble didn't cuss, bubble just said something inappropriate.
Confirmed! The creators said that Bubble just said something unsavory w/o any actual profanity involved.
@@submariNervous That's something I've been wondering about for a while now, ever since the first episode. Since then I've listened to multiple fanfics where the characters discover innapropriate words that aren't censored and are surprised by it. So I'd been wondering whether, in actual cannon, the censor only applies to swear words or if it applies to all inappropriate words. Now we know.
and then the fact that it's impossible to lip read bubble LOL
from what i understand with the misspelling of the maple syrup. This is very common with AI misspelling words when creating images so I am guessing it is a nod to the fact that the maple syrup was created by Cane's AI and that is why it is misspelled.
also when AI misspells, it is often using the same letters over again. In this case MPPEP repeats P.
hey twitter people this is what you're looking for 25:00
You are doing God's work!
Here's a fun fact for anyone who may not know:either Glitch or Gooseworx made a tweet, stating the main casts age, it may be surprising but for being as tall as he is, Jax is actually the youngest, still technically an adult
I mean, people are normally their full height by the time they are an adult, so him being taller and the youngest isn't too out of the blue

26:33 actually I'm surprised they didn't talk about how nervous Caine sounded. And then after, he took a smoke, which is something that people do to calm down (well he didn't actually smoke but you know the point) It seems like (for now) that the purpose of the circus was just to entertain some children for a few hours, and Caine doesn't know how to deal with a bunch of adults indefinitely.
Yeah kinda surprised that passed them by after the whole interfacing derailment. But personally, I saw that scene differently. Caine wasn't nervous because he's dealing with adults indefinitely. He's nervous because he's running out of distractions. The first episode implied that he'd been doing this stuff for a long time, and likely to keep people from thinking about their existential dread. But that form of coping can only work so long as the new things keep being new. Once you get used to it, your mind will start to wander, and that could cause you to dwell on the things he's trying to distract from (which would lead to abstraction).
You can kinda see it in how the first mission was obviously hastily cobbled together with random objects and a barebones plot. And again this time where nobody is buying the whole adventure plot at the start, and he has to physically push them into the portal to get it going.
Oh I like that a lot. It's very clear he's out of his depth, but putting it like that makes a WHOLE lot of sense. It's mostly been stated that Caine "doesn't understand humans", but that's clearly not the core of his problem, the fact that these are the WRONG humans and the wrong timescale just clicks.
He looks very much like a babysitter with how he only smokes after all the children were out of sight😂
@@lighttheshadowreaper5102 I like that theory. I think it could be both, too
3:17 "I guess you're Kaufmo now, because you've retired" "I'm the clown who disappeared" You are the jester of FNAF, so I guess that fits 🃏
11:27 I just learned something! I had never heard about interlacing, and the purpose is "to create the illusion of a smoother (higher) frame rate without requiring extra bandwidth" (by splitting each frame in two). Also, it uses the phi phenomenon, in which "our brain perceives two slightly different images shown in rapid succession as a single, smooth image".
24:16 Yeah, AI has been an academic field of study since 1956, and the recent AI boom has been fueled by specific advancements in it (like the development of large language models, or LLMs). Same field, new technologies.
38:38 You might be referring to the Stylish moves/commands in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario, but the effect itself is pretty much the one used (for the Taunts) in Pizza Tower.
39:24 "Aren't you supposed to be submissive and agreeable?" Jax hasn't heard about girlbosses, apparently 🎭
44:04 Yeah, that's the Utah/Newell teapot, which was one of the first complex objects used in early computer graphics research. Because of its form with smooth curves and both convex and concave surfaces, it's ideal for testing lighting, shading, and texturing techniques. It's also an inside joke within the computer graphics community.
47:00 That's an A-pose (when the arms are angled downwards). If the arms are angled upwards it's a Y-pose, and a T-pose if they're perpendicular to the torso.
I love the fact that 25:13 minutes into the video which is the length of the second episode he is still less than three minutes in
16:02 I think “not all cut out for it” being in Pomni’s nightmare doesn’t say anything about the world, just Pomni’s mindset. I feel like before she was dropped in the Digital Circus, she was the kind of person who was socially awkward and saw her peers as competition, like she’s always in danger of failing at being a person, even though it’s not feasible or reasonable to get a good grade on being a person. I certainly struggle with that mentality sometimes.
her liking accounting brings some merit to that thought, she likely worked an office job which can be pretty competitive

Bubble smoking bubbles?? Cannibalism!?!?
Having MatPat explain 'submissive and agreeable' made me laugh harder than it should.
I feel like it's another Jumanji moment when kids in late 2000 get stuck in a game from the early 2000 which can explain the words they use.
That's a good call out
Seems pretty accurate. Minor nitpick, though: they aren't kids. The youngest ones (Jax and Zooble) are 22.
@@syweb2 I think anyone could get into the Jumanji game as in the second movie adults had been transported in. Anyway I didnt know that Jax and Zooble were the youngest!

A few things I wanted to note:
From what I can tell, the digital circus was intended to be a vr game ran by an ai who's purpose was to generate new levels or adventures for the players to play through. My guess is that the game launched a while ago, and was cancelled or shut down, but the servers for the game were left running.
In the previous episode, we see a lot of doors of characters whom are not in the game anymore. We also see a ton of abstractions in the basement. If each character truly is a player, then I don't think its quite set in just HOW MANY people were trapped in this game.
If each character truly is a person trapped in a vr game and isnt a copy, then its possible there are 3 ways to "exit" the main gameplay. 1: Abstraction. 2: Glitch to death, which I will personally call corruption. 3: The body of the player dies.
Another thing to note, its possible that queeny and king DIDN'T arrive at the same time. If kane is an ai who generates new levels to play for players, then its possible that the avatars are also randomly generated from a few different archtypes (animal, clown, jester, shapes, ribbon with face, chess piece ect) and that just because 2 characters have a similar archetype, that doesn't necessarily mean they came in together or are related
As far as the abstraction goes, I don't think its necessarily losing your mind in general that causes it, but rathet it's caused specifically by your mind not being able to accept the fact that you are trapped in the vr game. Kingy doesn't necessarily have all his marbles, but he hasn't abstracted yet. However the character from the last episode DID abstract and was obsessed with the exit. And now the mc is starting to have nightmares of abstracting and she also can't rationalize or come to terms with being trapped in the vr game
In regards to the eye thing, the model’s eye is closed and the NPC’s eye is open. You can see earlier/later in the episode, Gummygoo’s eyes get filled in at times to give him more expression.
⚠️Hello everyone!⚠️ Your friendly neighborhood Bait Police officer here to remind you not to reply to computers under comments! Replying to them makes RUclips think that they’re real people.
Things to do if you see a computer reply:
1. Do NOT reply! I know it might be tempting to clap back as these computers tend to slander our favorite creators, like MatPat here, especially after he announced his retirement, but replying to them will fool the RUclips algorithm into thinking that they’re real people.
2. Report the comment either for “Unwanted commercial content or spam”, or for “Harassment and bullying.” (Either works, but if you try both a couple of times and the comment doesn’t get removed, try reporting for Hate Speech.)
3. Block the account by going to their channel, first pressing the “Report” button to report the channel and then clicking “Hide this user from my channel” so that pesky computer account can’t reply to your comments anymore.

16:10 keep in mind, this is entirely in Pomni's dream. So any information that the dream figments say is not necesarily accurate to the real circus, like how only Pomni's arm suddenly abstracted during the dream.
but the abstraction could have something to do with the way she is feeling subconsciously being acted out in her dream
Edit: also ik thats not the part it was on but ye
12:13 In this case, I think it's more of a progressive vertical delay. Each "layer" down is a little more delayed than the one previous, as opposed to it being alternating.
31:20 Mind you, most of the cast have been trapped there for _years,_ so the Digital Circus itself could have been made in the 90's and then just persisted into the present day.
36:10 It's possible to lip-read Pomni, but not Bubble.
38:50 It looks a lot like the Parry/Taunt in Pizza Tower. According to Goosworx, it's a reference to games (like skating games) where you could press a button to strike poses.
I’m pretty sure that the thing that takes the group to candy kingdom was a reference to a meme a while back. The meme was a man who found some of his gummy worms stuck together and it looked exactly like the animal that pulls the cart around. You can see the animal clearly at 27:18
Software developer here. I would like to point out that machine learning neural networks have been around since the 1950s, so there *has* been AI that's like modern buzzword AI (i.e. not just preset "if...then...else..." statements) for a long time. The current buzz about AI is specifically surrounding generative AI, i.e. machine learning models that generate complex output rather than just classifying things or performing a single narrow task. In particular, the term "AI" has started applying specifically to generative AI that includes the Transformer architecture, which Google researchers invented in late 2017.
TL;DR: AI that learns rather than just following preset instructions has been around for like 75 years, and the modern buzz about it is just because the invention of the Transformer architecture has shown everyone it's capable of being far more general and powerful than previous iterations made it seem.
Regarding the "developer rooms" of assets: I work for an animation studio, and the artists call that the "zoo". Just a stage where all the assets are given their default settings and placed in a grid, so they can easily be copied/pasted into a new scene later without having to re-import and re-setup everything.

Caine says he is using a new AI to create this adventure. I think the "Mppep" Syrup is just meant to be a representation of how AI image generators still aren't that great at making text.
Definitely. That was my first thought too.
No one I’ve seen so far has brought up how Kinger was obsessed with the insect collection in the first episode, yet responds really positively to the bugs in the candy kingdom
The gator hitting the poses while behind the truck reminded me of Wakeboarding in Wii sports resort!
Haha yeah!
Caine killing Gummygoo is like a teacher refusing to do something new in their class.
Edit; Did I seriously get 1.3K likes in 12 hours? Neat
@MalecUTTP not true😠

How?
I do agree with Lee. As a gamer, AI was used to reference NPC behavior. so I don't think modern AI immediately but rather in the game context. Especially with all the 90s game references with Conker's and Resident Evil in this episode. I think the game was made in the 90s. Too many things line up with 90s games. But the game could have been shut down for a while with Caine still running it. I don't get malicious behavior from Caine. But I don't think he knows how humans work psychologically either. He just doesn't quite get it. So he had good intentions but ends up making things a little worse for the humans in it by killing GummyGoo. But since Cain makes these NPC and these worlds, he is essentially their god.
Exactly. Ash's comments are out of place and inaccurate at this point
12:33 honestly you learn something new everyday, i always thought the p in 1080p stood for pixels lol

The sheer amount of pain of MatPat not getting the reference is KILLING ME! ITS MOTHER F[ *doink* ]ING PEPPINO SPAGHETTI!

Semantics
@@pirilon78it’s really not, the term AI has a different association with it, now than it did 15 years ago. People think of it in a different context than what it originally was known for, basically making the difference between the two now relevant and sometimes necessary when discussing AI today, because they’re not the same

@@ghostlyexe Personally I don't consider things like virtual assistants like Siri or Alexa to be proper Ai, despite people saying they are.
I prefer to refer to them as Vi or "Virtual Intelligence". This concept was introduced to me in the Mass Effect series, where the Virtual Assistant in the game's location "The Citadel" named "Avina" who is a Vi. Real Ai were/are forbidden in the universe, because real Ai are classified as sentient and freethinking, meaning to force them to work would constitute enslavement and a whole lot of legal headaches.
Sentient Ai make up the primary antagonists of the series.
47:03 “A pose” is what you’re looking for
50:18 what you’re probably seeing here is all of the gummigoo face shape layers all stacked on top of each other, since the filled is for his normal expression and the rings are for his distressed one
The interlacing stuff is close but not quite there
I forget the effect but it's where each line in the frame is offset from the one behind it, giving a sort of shimmery-scanline-paper effect
The dance moves that the small armed gummi bandit did is a reference to pizza tower. In pizza tower you can do a taunt to avoid incoming projectiles.
I also think that all of the characters have the properties of the the items that they are. Ragetha is a doll, she gets stabbed and doesn't get hurt because she has no organs. She is kind because dolls are meant to be conforting. Kinger is a king chess piece, cant move far and needs to be protected. Jax is a cartoon character, he can sometimes defy the laws of physics. He is also violent just like the characters from looney toons. The Ribbon guy is a ribbon, meant to be used and warped. Think about it...
in 38:55 i think it's a reference to Pizza Tower when you parry an atack
I love that Jax has a soft side. Him hearing about the funeral with the quick sad face then shrugs it off. Doing all these bad things and everything he has done up to this point to hide the wounds with the big smile. I can't wait for his episode

Couldn’t have said it better myself! I can’t help but get a bit frustrated when people write Jax off as a one dimensional asshole. He’s an asshole, yes, but he’s an asshole with _depth_ , and that’s something I wish more people realized.
I feel like Jax might be satan
I'm sorry, but Jax does not have a soft side. He is evil, confirmed by Gooseworks herself. She has said he's irredeemable and when asked if he would be an anti hero, she said "There is nothing heroic about Jax". He is chaotic evil, he has no friends, and that's why I like him. That's just me though.

Something that makes me wonder is when they call Jax the "Master of Keys". It's interesting because somehow, Jax keeps getting keys to places he normally shouldn't have access to. He has keys to Ragatha's room, a key to Kaufmo's room and in this episode, he suddenly had the key to the candy kingdom. Even though it was Ragatha who had that key the entire time.
So what's up with Jax?
He's a good pick pocket

I have a pretty simple theory for this, basically Caine is shown to be the games master of this world, he's the one who sets up the adventures, the characters, the AI. So while this it does seem surprising that the queen mentions Caine as a god, it is also feels like it is kinda just playing similarly to games such as Legend Of Zelda where one character is like "So you're the one who was sent here to save our village!" I just thought it would be a nice thing to point out because Caine is the one creating these adventures that the gang has to go on, so it makes sense for him to be called a god because he is the one sending the gang on these quests.

Something that was brought up by the developers back when the first episode came out was that because everyone LOVED Jax so much the developers came out and was like "Why do you guys like him so much he is supposed to be a decieving evil guy" ( Its not word for word but it is along those lines)
I mean Goosxworks also very much likes Jax and is even considerd a Jax simp herself, but she did say that she doesnt like how content farms and the fandom mischaracterize him so their making him more evil
It's also been said that Jax wasn't written to be more mean in episode 2 out of protest towards his fans; he was always planned to be that bad.

When the gummy croc was doing that posing thing when being dragged behind the truck, I believe it was a reference to a game called Pizza Tower. 38:55
