@@Mobin92 I have no idea about watches and the whole subject. My thought was that the production of watches in Switzerland creates an “oversupply” of such things and that the prices could therefore be lower than elsewhere.
Nice! That looks like a Valjoux 72c in terms of layout. I have an 18K gold Sandoz with the same movement. It's up there with my favorite watches. Thanks for including the time stamp! What happened to your Wakmann? Did you sell it?
@@IMakeWatches I did actually sell it even though I’m a sucker for reverse panda dials. It was actually my favorite watch to wear however since it was a vintage watch it wasn’t the most reliable. It had condensation issues and day change issues.
10:28 - worst seller ever - insulted you when you told him you didn't want to buy. Whenever in Switzerland someone is giving you a lot of details when he tries to sell you something at flea market, just stop and get away, it's probably someone trying to justify weirdly the high price tag in a country when everything is already expensive but not that much. Born and raised in Switzerland, glad you didn't fall for this rude one. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip and it was the single unpolite interaction. We have cows more educated than this man trust me.
There are a lot of people in this area who know a lot about watches and everything that goes with them. You can't expect to find any real undiscovered treasures there. If something says 50 CHF on it, it's worth exactly 50 CHF and no more.
This is 99% true, however, I did buy a Swatch YAS108G for 20 Chf (~US $23), and that watch sells for at least $80 on Ebay (and up to $200). But it's a Swatch. What you say is true of the over $1000 watches. The under $50 watches can fall into a "I just want to get rid of it" price with some vendors. On the other hand some vendors will also ask $50 for a $5 watch! 😂😂😂
This flea market really interested me but unfortunately the camera was rocking like a boat the only two times it quickly showed what I really like: Swiss Army Knives.
A friend asked me which watch I would buy if money was no concern and I answered, "All of them. First I would buy a massive warehouse the size of a football stadium to store them in, and then I'd buy all of them."
Yes, I think you're right. In fact I'm sure you are! But the more people comment on it the more I want to come up with additional uses for it! 😂😂😂 Cow bell, hot chocolate mug, toilet brush holder... 😂😂😂
@@liosandro I actually bought a porcelain toilet brush holder at the Salvation Army thrift shop in Geneva. And I thought it was a coffee mug! I even used it as such until I learned what it actually was!
You'll have to check back early next year. As far as I know the dates for 2025 have not been announced but they should be published in the next month or so.
Yes, but I saw him again at the MIH watch fair a month later in La Chaux-de-Fonds and I made him laugh with my bad French. He's a nice guy. All of the cranky old men in at the watch fairs are actually very nice, and most of the vendors are not cranky at all -- just very nice from the moment you meet them! As for the cranky ones, you just have to treat them with kindness and respect. Strangers filming them without permission and not speaking French is not the greatest show of respect. I'm doing my best to make friends with them all, but it doesn't always work out!
Price depends on the vendor. Some are good deals, others are not. I currently don't sell watches myself but my website does have links to watch straps and bracelets: imakewatches.com
Каждый часовщик посмотрев этот ролик,взглотнул слюну. Я вообще захлебнулся.) Хотя у меня есть 3 часовых станка и много инструментов по ремонту часов,я бы хотел побывать на той барахолке.
I think it's because the Swiss don't throw away anything that says "Swiss" on it, but they will sell it at a flea market to another Swiss who will then hold onto it for many years and then sell it to another Swiss at another flea market. I often marvel over how many generations have kept Swiss and French pocket watches from the 1700s. That could easily be ten or twenty generations.
Glad you liked the tools! That's all that I was really paying attention to to tell you the truth! I just shot the watches because most viewers want to see the watches!

I don't know for sure but Le Landeron, the town where the it's located, is in the canton of Neuchâtel, and Neuchâtel was under the control of the King of Prussia (which became Germany) until 1856, so it probably represents a specific or generic soldier or military leader of that period (and his dog!)
I been in Swiss land , went to the flea markets but didn't buy a lot ,the problem for me is that everything is damn expensive, it's a wealthy country swiss franc is up, and locals greedy as f**k 😂 , unless you are really on a hunt for particular piece and got lucky 😢 P.S. Those hand removal bars is easy to fix to the size you need , no problem to make a matching pair of a different ones. But like i said Bergeon ones of a eBay gonna cost you less than swiss flea market ones 😂😂😂
Yes, and the businesses, including the flea markets, are all catering to rich tourists. The one advantage here is there are more vintage tools here than the market can absorb, so if you are into watchmaking as a hobby or as a student it can be fantastic for tools.
@@IMakeWatches , Agreed, the best flea market for me was in NY Manhattan back in the days, people down to earth really cool watches nice prices, they used to rent out parking garages on weekends best days 😂 but no good watch tools ,just a simple stuff .
@@alexkastano96 I was there. I lived in NYC from 1984 - 2000. My first roommate in NYC was obsessed with the parking lot flea markets and we used to go all the time. There was also a huge indoor flea market in Chelsea that he took me to once. I don't know what the economics of that was because retail space was not cheap - it may have been a space like the space that Sam Flax was in that was rented out to a parking lot flea market while it was in transition or up for rent -- like the Halloween stores pop up in vacant retail spaces. Are you still in NYC and is there anything like that today? I go back regularly but I haven't seen anything. Lots of empty retail though!

Very kind of you! Thanks for the translation!
Sorry about that! I like Swiss Army Knives too. I tried my best but there's always room for improvement!
@@IMakeWatches You did an excellent job, this was no criticism. The channel is more focused on watches after all, isn't it?
That skeleton dial looked like a watch of yours, did youbuy it or show it to him?
@@IMakeWatches cool, great vid too.
How would you describe the prices at such markets? Are there any bargains? Or are many things overpriced?
In my opinion the prices here were market prices, but I also think the sellers mark things a bit and would settle for less.
Does anyone know who the first stall holder is with the Ulysse Nardin with box?
I do. Feel free to email me for the info!
@@IMakeWatches email sent
@@IMakeWatches Hi, I sent you an email but I haven't received a reply.
@@8ttiknio8 I replied to Adrian at the rogeraroger address on Nov 25. Is that not you?
Wow…
I would buy the Omegas 😮
A friend asked me which watch I would buy if money was no concern and I answered, "All of them. First I would buy a massive warehouse the size of a football stadium to store them in, and then I'd buy all of them."

Fête de la Brocante Le Landeron
Center Ville, 2525 Le Landeron, Switzerland (between Neuchâtel and Biel/Bienne)
Sept 27 - 29, 2024
At 3:50 it is not a bell or cup for calling cows. It is a mortar with pestle.
You're right! Although I suppose one could do all three with it and use it as a toilet brush holder if they wanted to! 😂😂😂
The bronze “bell” at 3:51 should actually be a mortar or pestle.
Yes, I think you're right. In fact I'm sure you are! But the more people comment on it the more I want to come up with additional uses for it! 😂😂😂 Cow bell, hot chocolate mug, toilet brush holder... 😂😂😂
@@IMakeWatches 😂 we actually had one at home. And I can confirm the bell function!
@@liosandro Excellent! Can you please also check the toilet brush holder function? 😂😂😂
@@liosandro I actually bought a porcelain toilet brush holder at the Salvation Army thrift shop in Geneva. And I thought it was a coffee mug! I even used it as such until I learned what it actually was!
@@liosandro In other words I have a long and sordid history of making these kinds of mistakes! 😂😂😂
Bellissimo quali sono le date x il 2025 ?
You'll have to check back early next year. As far as I know the dates for 2025 have not been announced but they should be published in the next month or so.
beautiful tools !! At 10:33 did he get mad??
Yes, but I saw him again at the MIH watch fair a month later in La Chaux-de-Fonds and I made him laugh with my bad French. He's a nice guy. All of the cranky old men in at the watch fairs are actually very nice, and most of the vendors are not cranky at all -- just very nice from the moment you meet them! As for the cranky ones, you just have to treat them with kindness and respect. Strangers filming them without permission and not speaking French is not the greatest show of respect. I'm doing my best to make friends with them all, but it doesn't always work out!
hello sir,
what is the difference in price its cheaper than market price .and do you sell watches
Price depends on the vendor. Some are good deals, others are not. I currently don't sell watches myself but my website does have links to watch straps and bracelets: imakewatches.com

I wonder why Switzerland has so many vintage watches………….?
I think it's because the Swiss don't throw away anything that says "Swiss" on it, but they will sell it at a flea market to another Swiss who will then hold onto it for many years and then sell it to another Swiss at another flea market. I often marvel over how many generations have kept Swiss and French pocket watches from the 1700s. That could easily be ten or twenty generations.
Ok thanks. Is it known when it will be 2025 or ıs it announced ?
Yes, Le Landeron will be Sept 26 - 28 in 2025. I will make a community post about it as a reminder for subscribers a month before.
@@IMakeWatches thanks for information

Ha ha, you speak excellent emoji!
Wow, my type of market mind you I'd probably have gotten divorced if I was there , because I wouldn't leave. Love my watches.
Ha ha, they would kick you out when it ends so you'd be okay! 😂😂😂
Hi I wanna purchase the used watches
You can tell its a watch making country because i cant even find a seiko 😂...but hey if i were just a rich guy id travel there and buy those tools.
Glad you liked the tools! That's all that I was really paying attention to to tell you the truth! I just shot the watches because most viewers want to see the watches!
@@IMakeWatches im from philippines repairing watches as well. My skill level is only replacement of battery, straps, pins but mechanical watches is a nightmare for me althought a love them my personal one is a seiko mechanical. Keep up your content for us young guns who wants to learn repairing.
@@cetocoquinto4704 Thanks! I will! But also check out the links on my channel to more experienced watchmakers and restoration videos. I'm happy to know that I inspire others but I'm not a good teacher because I am constantly trying things that I haven't ever done before.
a bell is a cup until it is struck
And the inverse can also be true! 😂😂😂
Well, if God spares me, thats my retirement adventure…can I ask: is it a haggling scenario or are the prices fixed? Does cash help?
Unfortunately it is a haggling situation. And it's almost all cash and a phone-based system of cash equivalency here in Switzerland called TWINT.
@@IMakeWatches And I guess it helps to speak French.
Cheers for that snippet into Swiss life. The 6 sided AP was the winner ! Vintage clocks on the side of a fountain made me cringe.... Switzerland must be cretin free, you just know in England some little s**t would 'show off' to his mates...
Crap, now I have to watch it again and look for the six sided AP! 😂😂😂 And yes, antique clocks in the rain beside fountains is questionable even without cretins!
That's a GP, not an AP at 27:08. Girard Perregaux. Is that the watch that you thought was an Audemars Piguet?
@@IMakeWatches That's the one ! Thanks for the info. Something tells me it would be well out of my price range !..still, it's a joy to see such a beautiful watch.
When was this?

What is this statue?
I don't know for sure but Le Landeron, the town where the it's located, is in the canton of Neuchâtel, and Neuchâtel was under the control of the King of Prussia (which became Germany) until 1856, so it probably represents a specific or generic soldier or military leader of that period (and his dog!)

I been in Swiss land , went to the flea markets but didn't buy a lot ,the problem for me is that everything is damn expensive, it's a wealthy country swiss franc is up, and locals greedy as f**k 😂 ,
unless you are really on a hunt for particular piece and got lucky 😢
Interesting,,,,but i think it would be improved with more talking,,,,and tell us the prices,,,,good luck for future hunting.
Thanks! I agree! More to come!
Prices please
It would have been nice if the closeups were for the watches, not the tools
Thanks for this criticism. It's difficult to get close to the nice watches but I agree that it's important.
£18 for those two hand lifters………..😮 Pants down
