holy shit did you say 35 years old?? i literally thought you were 27 or something, that skincare is definitely doing its thing!!
Thank you so much! Yes 35!😂 definitely still feel 27!
As a biochemist and aspiring dermatologist, I’ve been taught to think of ceramides as the grout and our skin cells/hair cuticles as bricks. You can build a wall of bricks without any grouting, but it will not protect you as well from the elements! In the same way, ceramides help to “fill in the gaps.”
Cholesterol (lipids) and fatty acids are also important components in hormones and other signaling peptides, as well as providing structure and rigidity within the cell membranes! So think regular kitchen sponge vs those fancy sham-wow type towels-the crispy dry sponge suddenly swells and oversaturates, leaking water everywhere compared to the shammy towel that doesn’t change size (because it already possesses internal structure) and holds water for ages without dripping. Cholesterol, lipids, and fatty alcohols turn our cells into sham-wows, allowing them to retain hydration for longer without “leaking” when exposed to dryer external conditions 😊🤓
Wow, I've always used that metaphor for ceramides, glad to know I was on the right path even though I'm only a sales person.
I love your analogy😊
I remember the era of matte skin. I was afraid to use moisturizer 🤦♀️ I used to carry around oil blotting strips 😂 It took a while, but you finally convinced me to use facial oil and it’s been one of the best things I’ve done for my skin!!! Thanks Kelly ❤
Stratia Lipid Gold and the RNW concentrate ceramide serum has to be my most favourite barrier care ingredients of all time. Both of these has been recommendations from you Kelly a long, long time ago. Your recommendations never disappoint. Thanks for your amazing well crafted content!!!💖
I'm so happy to know they've been amazing for your skin too! So glad to help!❤
You saved my skin Kelly! So happy for your recommendations such as Stratia Lipid Gold. Thank you!
For me that moment was when I discovered your channel two years ago. I was suffering with rosacea, acne (for many years) and a damaged skin barrier. Still dealing with some dryness from tret use twice a week, but getting better. Thank you! Thank you!
This video is amazing ❤️ thank you
I really enjoyed this video ❤ I'm loving the P&L Barrier Repair products. I won't go without the RNW Ceramide serum and Indeed Labs in-ceramide daily moisture cream is also lovely. I think I'm the only person who doesn't like Stratia Lipid Gold. I couldn't deal with the lingering smell and how it leaves you yellow. I just don't find Stratia products to have a elegant feel to them. I've been thinking about trying Paula's Choice Skin oil booster.
Great video Kelly! Demonization of oil 😂😂😂very interesting. Sending love❤❤❤
Kelly, you made me love skincare and specially ceramides. I’ve been following you for years and we have similar skins type. 💚
I really love the Ample:N Ceramide Shot ❤
That stuff is so good!❤
Love your makeup 💓
not exactly ingredients. but I stopped having pimples in my face when I discoverd to not use only cream on my dry skin, but layer toner and serum under it. My skin is really not perfect because I can't afford to experiment so much , but it's better than a few years ago. Though it's still dry. I think an ingredient that really helped my skin is centella, because it helps keeping my rosacea(? not sure if it's that) at bay. I'm always repurchasing the beauty of joseon serum, which I found through your videos. Your videos helped my skin so so much, really.
great video, love your side part, hair looks great
Amazing video as always. Please try Summer Fridays heavenly sixteen face oil. Also, it would be great if you could make a video on lipbalms and lip products.
I have got a really bad contact dermatitis from a lip balm and nothing seems to work.
How do you feel about the antioxidant power of the Mary and may blackberry emulsion stuff you've reviewed? It wasn't in your top antioxidant video, but they tout is as a great antioxidant.
How can I use an antioxidant in the morning when I use The Ordinary Copper Peptides every morning?. At night I use Retinal.
Love these! So important all the ingredients. Ceramides are underrated I think! Actually, Have you ever tried the Celimax dual barrier wearable cream, milky toner or serum? I stumbled across the brand. There aren’t many reviews, but the ingredients and products sound amazing and the reviews that are available are fantastic. The products have 5 ceramides along with other nourishing, barrier support ingredients. Would love to hear your thoughts on the products one day if you have time.
Hey Kelly, do you use an eyebrow treatment, or were you born with those gorgeous eyebrows 😍
If I were to pick 3 turning points in my skincare journey, it would be these:
1: discovering asian sunscreen (-->consequently actually starting to use spf every day)
2: the soothing power of centella asiatica (never really got the hyper behind soothing products because I would just find them hydrating and refreshing... Until I tried a centella toner that worked for my skin and my inflamed red acne marks went quiet SECONDS after applying it)
3: AZELAIC ACID. I'm still at the beginning of my journey (only 2 months) but I'm already getting emotional thinking about what it's doing for my skin.... I can't believe something is finally working for my acne, and I'm so afraid the magic might stop and I might have to regress... If it keeps going like this, I think I will never shut up about this ingredient THAT NO DERMATOLOGIST EVER MENTIONED TO ME!!
Please, how about The Ordinary rose hip oil? Thank you
Kelly please tell me which korean skincare is best to get rid of or lighten dark underarms and knees also bumpy rough knees plus my skin is fair but underarms have darkened I think due to deodorants and hair removal creams
Hydrating toners, sunscreen, ceramide based products (Lipid Gold takes the cake on this one)and Tretinoin are my change-it all products.
Speaking about sunscreens, have you tried any water resistant Asian sunscreens? I'd love to see your intake on those!
I'm working on some water resistant reviews! Should be out in May!❤
@@KellyDriscoll yay!!! I can't wait! Thank you for all your work, Kelly!
Can you recommend a good foaming Korean cleanser for 16 year old combination skin? I use Annua Cleansing Oil and I need a foaming to go with it
I've only used Bb cream spf for 10 years of my life 😅 thinking about it gives me goosebumps now
BB cream is very good though, protection and makeup in 1!
Do you have a video on the Numbuzin No. 3 serum?? I'm trying it out and I want to know your thoughts
How do you like it so far? I've been meaning to try it out after my Isntree bifida ampoule runs out
She’s made a this or that video on it before and has mentioned it again at least once. She said the manyo one has a more sophisticated ingredient list that gives more bang. I also love them both but numbuzin maybe takes longer to see results
🐝
Funny how you talked about growing up in the 90’s and how skin had to be matte and all of us born in 80s who grew up in the 90s know better it was only last night my grandfather came over and I was after doing my skincare and now I look like a glazed doughnut when I’m done and his response was why you so greasy you come out of a oil bucket you dunked yourself in a bucket of oil didn’t you and my mother always says why is you skin so shiny and greasy 🤣 I’m like it’s called hydration
I seem to be early, hello
Good morning! 🌞
