The lack of fragrance, essential oils, silicones, denatured alcohols, and inclusion of ceramides are really singing to my dry, sensitive skin's soul. 😅 This is definitely on my list to try.
Korean sunscreen renaissance is such nice word to describe it. Certain brands like Skin1004, Beauty of Joseon and Isntree have really stood out after the scandal with their great sunscreen products.
The huge lack of sweat resistance is a shame. I wish there were Korean sunscreens that were water resistant. If I need water resistance I go for Japanese sunscreens marketed as "waterproof" to get that water resistance without sacrificing too much on texture.
I agree! I think it will be the next wave of sunscreen in k-beauty because so many people want it. It takes more time (and probably more money) to develop and test but I suspect it will start to show up in the next few years.
Kose Suncut (gold bottle) is quite sweat resistant - i literally drip sweat, but it doesn't come off. Definitely need a solid double cleanse to get it off.
Well the new upgrade (2nd April 2024) of this is The Daily Soft Touch Sunscreen- Outdoor Defense which has new Orange colour tubing and outer packaging and is water, sweat and sand resistant with 5 ceramides. There is also a Green Tube version too which is a Centella Daily Sun Lotion Urban Defense. Please review.
No Hyaluronate Acid, no fragrance, no essentials oils, no alcohol, no drying zinc or titanium halléjuah finally my super sensitive dermatitis prone dry skin lovessss this and finally found a sunscreen that does not give me dermatitis 🎉. Great Review!
I’ve been waiting for you to review this one! Great ingredients and no niacinamide which is so hard to find! I will be purchasing with your link! Thanks Kelly 😊
I've been using this one consistently for about a month now and I LOVE it. I think it will end up being my holy grail winter sunscreen although I will be moving to something more durable over summer. I love the finish of this, although I have combination dry skin I find all these 'dewy' sunscreens way too shiny. This definitely isnt matte but I find the finish so natural and pretty on my skin 😊 Thanks for the review Kelly, I always love your videos ❤❤
Unpopular opinion here, but I actually love that Korean sunscreens aren't sweat-resistant. 😂 I think we already have enough hardcore sweat-resistant ones that cater to sports and water activities. I live in Singapore where it's really hot and humid practically all year round. And I have combination skin which leans more oily. I was using Japanese suncreens for the longest time because I was convinced that that's what I needed for my particular skin type and climate. However I'd never been 100% happy with the sunscreens that I'd tried. You see with highly water-resistant sunscreens it's really hard to strike a perfect balance. They either always feel a tad too silicone-y/greasy and they never really quite absorb into the skin (at least in my experience) or a tad too drying like the Biore dry-touch sun milk (or whatever it's called), which dries down to a velvety, almost powdery feel. It's really frustrating for me as a low-maintenance/non-makeup-wearing individual looking for an everyday sunscreen. That is, until I discovered Korean sunscreens. Normally I'd stay away from anything that says "moisturizing" or "hydrating" during the day because that usually translates to greasy for me, but Korean sunscreens really changed the game for me. Up until the Korean sunscreen scandal in 2020, I'd never tried a Korean sunscreen because I always assumed that they were not for me (too hydrating, non-sweat-resistant, etc). My introduction to Korean sunscreens was the BOJ sun rice relief sun cream last year. I finally gave into the hype and bit the bullet. And I was really pleasantly surprised. It's exactly what I was looking for all along. A simple sunscreen that feels just like a lightweight moisturizer. No weird silicone-y/sunscreen residual feeling on the skin nor does it make my skin dry and itchy like the Biore sun milk. I don't normally like to wear moisturizer or anything at all during the day because I hate the feeling of anything sitting on top my skin but because this doubles up as my sunscreen I'm willing to let it slide. I put it on in the morning and reapply once more before I head out for lunch and that's it.
Yes I agree, there is a time and place for certain sunscreens, that's why I'm always talking about SPF wardrobe, one spf can't do it all! So glad you found what works for you and your environment!
I feel like you've only tried the Biore series and concluded that J-sunscreens are too "silicone-y". There are tons of other brands with sunscreens that have that almost same "creamy" texture like how K-sunscreens generally are (Verdio, Allie, Orbis, Sekkisei etc just to name the few). And there are also quite a number of sunscreens without alcohol but still achieve the water-resistant aspect from J-beauty, in case that's contributing to the itchy part. It's a shame J-beauty is overall not as rigorously marketed internationally like K-beauty.
@@tojin To me almost all K-Beauty sunscreens feel itchy because my skin is sensitive zu Niacinamide. Almost alll K-sunscreens include it. I am so glad Japanese sunscreens almost never include it. For me Japanese and French sunscreens are the best.
@@tojin What makes you think I've only tried sunscreens from Biore? I only specifically mentioned the Biore sun milk because of their dry-touch technology that's apparently a God-send for oily skin types in a humid climate (because of the quick dry time). I specifically mentioned that particular product because that is the one I hate because it leaves my skin feeling tight, dry and itchy. I don't know if it's due to the alcohol because the other Japanese sunscreens I used always had alcohol high up on their ingredients list too but they never made my skin itchy. And FYI, I've actually used all the brands you mentioned and I've liked many of them. If you re-read my comment, I didn't say I didn't like all Japanese sunscreens. I just said I wasn't 100% happy with them because they either always felt slightly too drying (as is the case with the Biore) or slightly too siliconey/greasy, which in MY experience never really fully absorbs into the skin. You might have a different experience with them and that's fine. In conclusion, I would put that weird sunscreen residual texture down to the fact that they are designed to be water-resistant, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I'm just saying that I'm not looking for a water-resistant sunscreen for everyday use. I don't understand why you're so offended by my own personal experience with these products. I'm not even making comparisons between J-Beauty and K-Beauty. As a matter of fact, I think it's a good thing that K-beauty and J-beauty make that clear distinction when it comes to sunscreens (where one prioritizes water-resistance while the other doesn't). They each have their own target customers and that is definitely a good thing. The best sunscreen is the one you like to wear. You can't tell someone that they are wrong for liking or disliking a particular sunscreen. J-Beauty has its place in the beauty industry and it's not something that can be stolen by K-Beauty no matter how rigorously it is being promoted on a global scale. They have both earned their place in the industry and people have the right to choose which one they gravitate towards.
Thank you for this in-depth review!! Has anyone with skin that is extremely sensitive to chemical sunscreens, or anyone with rosacea tried this sunscreen? For reference, even sunscreens with Korean filters like the Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Rice + Probiotics sunscreen burned my skin and gave me contact dermatitis. That one also hurt my eyes so badly. But maybe it was an ingredient in the sunscreen that caused that and not the filters?
@@noriii971 I just barely found one called Jumiso Awe-Sun Airy-Fit Daily Moisturizer with Sunscreen (their one that is just a plain sunscreen and not a "moisturizer with sunscreen" contains some plant extracts but I've heard it's really good too,) and it seems to be okay! It ran into my eyes and burned them one time after I used eye drops right after applying it, but it stopped hurting after a few minutes! I wear it regularly now. There are three other Korean ones I found that don't have plant extracts or essential oils that I want to try, so maybe they might be good for you too? They are the BePlain SunMuse Moisture Sunscreen, the Etude Soon Jung Directors Moisture Sun Cream, and the Hyggee Vegan Sun Cream. I plan to try those to see how those are on my eyes. The best one for my eyes that I've ever found was the Skin 1004 Water Fit Sun Serum, but it burned my skin because I'm allergic to the wheat in it. If you're not allergic to any of its ingredients maybe it would work for you? It turns out I'm also allergic to rice, and so that's why the Beauty of Joseon one burned my eyes and skin. Korean sunscreens are so difficult because they have so many plant extracts and essential oils that are so bad if you have any sort of allergies or sensitive skin.
Update in case this helps anyone else figure out what is going on with their skin: I was misdiagnosed with eczema, and then with erythrotelangiectatic and papulopustular rosacea. It turns out I actually just have food allergies, and I was using those ingredients on my skin thinking things that you put on your skin don't end up in your bloodstream. It turns out I was wrong! Korean skincare especially is full of different plant extracts. If anyone is having issues with skin care products, maybe consider getting allergy testing done!
I loved the old version. I was so sad when everything happened & I've been waiting for a new version. I'm disappointed to hear it's not sweat resistant though because I need that.

Thank you so much for this video, Kelly! I actually just bought this sunscreen and my skin loves it! The only thing about it that concerns me is that I find that on me it's not only shiny (which I don't mind), but it also seems to come off on my fingers if I touch my face (even hours after I've applied it), and that's when I'm not sweating or anything. Have you had this experience with it too? It makes me worry that it's not ever really drying, and therefore, may not be providing me with any protection.
@@tinksspixiedust ok I got my hands on it today and well I think its gonna be my fave, I have a suspicion that I'm allergic to niacinamide, because I've tried the isntree watery sun gel and beauty of joseon sunscreens and they both cause red irritated blotches especially under my eyes and jaw line, however this purito sunscreen has a similar texture to watery sun gel but doesn't cause any irritation
