    Thank you for speaking to the gentleman from Ebay on all our behalf! My biggest issue is the inability to speak to someone about issues with returns, etc. Frustrating! You're awesome my friend and very appreciated!

    Exactly my thoughts. I may get frustrated with Ebay, and rightly so, but I want them to succeed so we ALL can succeed. I was a church choir bus driver many years ago. There was a child that cried, stomped feet, pulled other's hair etc and made everyone miserable each day she rode the bus. All the other bus drivers routinely called her parent and kicked her off their route. Mom was a single parent and well she didn't have a lot of disciplinary help. So I decided to make this child my "friend and special helper" and made her appear more important, not less important. It changed her whole attitude along with the attitudes of the other bus drivers, her mom, the other children. She became a model bus rider. lol. I think Ebay acts up, and we need to do all we can to help them course adjust as necessary and ultimately succeed so we can have a peaceful business relationship. Yes, let them know how they can reciprocate, but to make them the enemy is not the way to do it. And terrific stocking stuffer idea for my grandkids is your suggestion to #giveanebaygiftcardforchristmas

    On the VeRO front, if the brands were actually interested in stopping counterfeits, they would help us resellers detect them. I've had one brand, The North Face, actually talk to me on the phone and help me come up with a list of things to check to verify a piece of clothing is authentic. Most just say, "it's proprietary information." They would post guides and give us ways to send in photos to let them know what we've found an where. All they care about is stopping secondary sales. However, I firmly believe that secondary sales are what makes those brands valuable. Would you buy a car that you couldn't resell? Nope.

      Yes the brands are going to start selling there used clothing so these brands are starting to "gate" the resale of there used clothing so they can have the monopoly of reselling there own used clothing Amazon has been taking down listings for a decade now for BRANDS ebay is implementing the Amazon model ebays history once they implement something they double down and no turning back this is my opinion from experience of reselling on ebay anf Amazon on 25 years

      Good points. I ❤️ Coach bags. There are a lot of counterfeits. I have never sold one. I actually know how to identify them. Still, the way Coach has come after Resellers has made me take a hard pass on their bags. I don't want them as gifts anymore. I used to get them every year for my birthday and Christmas. They are no longer on my list. I choose other bags.

      @@BloomByCC Yep. I don't want to sell counterfeits. Most sellers/resellers don't. Why aren't there guides for every brand online to determine how to spot a fake? I've watched a documentary that had an article about counterfeits in Asia and the guide said some can be spotted because they are better quality than the actual brand! :P
      I've purchased/spotted many fakes at the thrift stores I go to. In the end, I don't care because the brands don't care to help us, so why should I help them? They could have an army of hundreds of thousands of resellers out here knocking down fakes left and right, but instead they choose to attack us.
      I used to work in the tech industry with cash acceptors. Any time we found a bill that the machines had trouble with, we were supposed to send it to the manufacturer so they could examine it and improve their machines. Any ideas VeRO brands? :P

    Great job Kevin ! My biggest gripe for Ebay is their lack of advertising. "When it's on your mind it's on Ebay" is a tag line still remembered by some of us years later. and a suggestion for you... glue scrabble letters to spell out Commonwealth picker on the scrabble board hanging on the wall 😊😊

      This is also what I would have liked to see addressed...the complete lack of advertising for almost anything other than eBay Motors. eBay lost 50 million buyers (according to their own quarterly filings) from Q2 of 2019 to Q2 of 2023. The addition of other platforms is the biggest reason, I'm sure, but if they are not advertising like those other platforms, how do they expect to reach any new buyers and/or remind those who have left that eBay is still around.

      “Check Ebay First” good place to start a campaign. People pay more on Amazon for many items. They just don’t know there are sometimes cheaper options.

      @@commonwealthflipper Great point, and a great simple campaign. Simple campaigns are almost always the best. I think it was 2-4 years ago, I saw one of the marketing people giving a talk/speech and he said that they planned to roll out new marketing campaigns, starting with eBay Motors and moving all the way through collectibles, but Motors is all I've seen/heard. I know that category is huge for eBay, but they really need to focus on new buyers and trying to bring back those who have left, for whatever reason.

      Very well conveyed Kevin!👏 You did not disappoint with being concise and plainly 'real', at least I felt, in all aspects of facts, personal opinions &educudated ones, and keeping us 'ordinary sellers' in the focus. The have fallen away from being in touch, AND with many of their 'tweekings' within the platform functions...and yes, it has sadly driven many to other areas & options. Also, whatever happened to ADVERTISING TO PROMOTE *ALL* ASPECTS & ITEMS?! I have business & marketing/advertising in my background, and it is jaw-droppingly BAFFLING that such a corporation would shoot itself in the foot.
      And I wholeheartedly agree about 'Promoted Listings'. They are just greed & evil.

    I pay eBay high fees and I only ask that they put my listings in front of buyers. There needs to be accountability for buyers who don’t pay.

      I don't mind if the buyer communicates that they will pay in a few days... No communication is what bothers me. Kevin whatever happened to offering our items to the next highest bidder in the case of a non paying winning bid?

    Excellent informative video, thank you for taking time to do this. Love that you shared the ebay gift card idea. I've been doing that for years and I've had so many people say it was their introduction to the platform. One of them ended up buying something from me that she wanted and we both had a good laugh. It is so important to remain positive and to work together for change. Antagonism and complaining accomplish very little, especially in the long run. Great job of keeping it real - as always!

    Thank you for standing up for us my friend, especially for those of us just getting started again. I was out of commission last couple of years due to health reasons and this is an ideal opportunity for resellers like myself with health restrictions which limit us from certain occupations, I follow you and think you’re pretty cool. You have a lot of morals and values for doing the right thing. we appreciate all of your advice. Knowledge and especially going to bat for us When needed.     Simply just ... THANK YOU.
    Like you, I absolutely love and believe in this business and will do whatever I have to to grow it and make it work .. even waiting in line at the food pantry twice a month. I believe this business can absolutely provide my "Freedom From Want" some day .. but the many changes to the platform in the last year are making it very difficult for a little nobody like me to survive. Still I press on though.
    I started watching your videos years ago b/c I was curious to see what kind of "pickin" there was in your area (I live in Virginia Beach). I kept watching b/c of your family values, authentic genuine nature, and the way you run your business. You don't just have a heart for what you do, you also have a heart for all us other "little guys (and gals)" out here trying to survive the beast that is ebay.
    You could have addressed only specifics affecting you directly but instead you generously addressed the needs of the community.. that is, our ebay family

    The promoted listings and algorithms have thrown a wrench into everything this year for us. There was a class on understanding the terapeak and algorithms. We just don't have the time as small resellers to try and understand all this. It has taken the fun out of this for us. Our sales are down about 30% overall this year. Yes we had a vero before, we said Velcro in a couple ads for purse closures. So, we're in that group too. Thank you Kevin for being honest and touching on all these topics for us all.     Thank you Kevin for standing up for all of us resellers. An idea of avoiding all VeRO and prohibited items have a stop at listing. If there is a process that catches any of this after the fact, why not catch it before as Etsy does. The compiled companies eBay knows of from all the VeRO's could be so helpful to prevent further infractions as a seller. We, as most other sellers, care! We want to do right, but there is no manual to follow. Even with the VeRO list there are companies that slide in. There has to be a way to prevent a listing that is not allowed for whatever reason. Imagine the headaches avoided by that process, for sellers, companies, and eBay. The KISS method could apply... Keep It Simple Sweetie. Praying and fingers crossed you finally started the ball rolling in a great win - win direction. God bless your family and you.

    Thank you so much for your willingness to taken the time to talk with EBay for the reselling community. Am a healthy and beauty seller and last summer, I had multiple companies come in and say my items were inauthentic. Companies like tree hut, ardell, etc. I was able to reverse multiple by contacting the company (some companies never responded), but this was after days. And when your account is restricted and not getting views, it looses traction. After dealing with this for three months, my sales decreased by 40 percent. EBay is how I earned my income and I realized I could not after the sales decreased so much. I ended up applying to sell on Walmart and let me tell you there is a way to handle the companies complaints better. Walmart will not allow you to list items if a company has complained and also they have a way you can submit receipts as well. I think taking down a listing is protecting both the seller and the website, but EBays current policies are abusive and scary. I really hope they do change them.

    THANK YOU Kevin for your advocacy for all of us resellers that are just trying to make an honest living. It is overwhelmingly frustrating to see these platforms inadvertently punishing people that are not guilty of wrong doing and then failing to give us the ability to defend ourselves and explain TO A HUMAN BEING x,y or z. It is understandable for companies to want to protect their brands from people who are selling in a fraudulent way... but with the amount of $$$ that these platforms get from the SELLERS that pay their fees and keep customers coming back, the least they can do is give us the customer service that we need (as their customers) and to treat us with respect and dignity. It also shouldn't be too much to ask for that respect and dignity to come from a *human being*

    Thank you for your calm positive approach to what can be at times a very tough environment to be in. Reselling is an awesome lifestyle and you are right to champion the platforms that allow us to exist and also effectively critique processes that do not serve either your interests or the community you have fostered online. While you can couch much of your spiel as self interest, through that, via public presentation, you become a de facto leader of interests for putting yourself out there weather you like like it or not, and weather you accept the role or not, you will be viewed in that context by many. I am glad you do not take that lightly and find a balance that still serves all. Once again, I thank personally thank you for the entertainment and infotainment you earnestly provide. It is well deserved.

    I have been a eBay seller since 2001 . I have had issues over the years that I have experienced with EBay . I agree with everything you talked about in this video.

    Also I must say as only a seller in 08 it was a lot easier than what I’m understanding now . I feel for all y’all! I hope they get back to what they were known for and the reason I came . Items from years ago that bring back memories . Like for instance a cup from a old store in your town that’s been gone for years that you buy off eBay and give to your grandma and she has all those good memories back again .that was eBay

    Thanks for sharing your conversation because you didn’t have to. Sounds like it’s something he needed to hear. Most of it was the point you have been preaching ever since the bill was passed and agreed that it’s something most of us knew nothing about until the deal was done. Or should I say had no power to affect the outcome at all because you are right the common resellers we’re not represented. Thanks for bringing up also I believe is one of the biggest issues is the communication process with eBay which hopefully they will address. I do believe the return process is a huge problem too! Maybe that should have been brought up but I guess you only had so much time. Anyway I appreciate all you do for the community so thank you so much ❤ #giveanebaycardforchristmas

    What I like about you is that you are very thoughtful and intelligent. That is missing in today's world. Most people (mostly commenters) get emotional and sprew out "hot take" garbage if there is any adversity in their lives, or if their thoughts do not align with yours. There is always some conspiracy that controls their lives. You are not like that. You control your thoughts and actions in response to adversity. You are deliberate. Life is full of adversity. It happens. It is our response to such adversity that sets successful people apart from unsuccessful people.

    Kevin - Thank you for speaking MY MIND :) Seller since the first year eBay went Public, and once every 2-3 years I make a mistake, I am treated like some kind of terrorist. When you are a 99.9 feedback and work hard to do it, this is disgusting that they treat us this way. I don't even want to discuss the criminal buyers that lie, and eBay doesn't even look at your feedback and gives the criminal with new 3-4 feedback is criminal in itself. ( New, because they have been shut down by eBay for prior stealing). Anyway keep up the good work, and advocating for us.

    Thank you so much for having this discussion and sharing the results with us. Yesterday, in the eBay Open, I noticed that any questions about the overreach of VERO claims was completely ignored. Many attendees were also disturbed by the growing "official partnerships" eBay is negotiating with brands (Funko, Hasbro, etc.) that, in appearance, if not yet in fact, could hurt resellers. There also was no discussion from leadership about bad consumer laws.

      Yes there turning into Amazon they had this infatuation with Amazon for decades now that Amazon is being sued by The FTC for deceptive business practices, price fixing/market manipulation and hiding 3rd party listings ebay better watch out if they want to duplicate Amazon's business model!

    Kevin thank you for sharing. Everything you had to say was on point, that’s my opinion. I’ve been with eBay since 2011 and since retiring eBay is now my income. I’m trying really hard to make money, but like every job I need to work hard to be successful. My wife, daughter and I thank you for sharing your knowledge.

    Thanks for the Video. If Ebay would fix it so it automatically pops up saying its on the Vero list then it would make it a lot easier on the seller. Love your videos.

    I did not even know about this legislation. You are correct. We, the sellers, needed to have the opportunity to fight this particular legislation against the big brands. Clarity & transparency. Wow, I could so get on a soap box. And yes, I don't want to be bothered with the data. I've been reselling for 40 years. I love what I do. It is my passion. I miss the early days of Ebay.       I feel like we should call them out for not being as sustainable as they claim. I believe some sellers publicly shamed allbirds for getting in the way of people selling their items secondhand.

    First of all , LOVE the Felix T shirt !! 💯 agree with Ebay needs to stand with its resellers against brand companies trying to eliminate the secondary market on their products ! But why I stopped selling on Ebay like others I have talked to , is the lack of Ebay backing us in false returns and automatically refunding if items not delivered when that’s on the shipping provider when you can take the time to see it’s obviously shipped but Ebay is too quick to hit that refund button for the buyers and it’s plain out not fair or right . Even if Ebay stands up against the big brands , I’m not coming back to Ebay as a reseller until they use some common sense and invest into checking into these issues . A lot of people stopped selling due to this because they are too small to take hits like this .

    I followed you for a while, and I’ve been selling on eBay for as long as you. And you hit the nail on the head. I have not relied on eBay for my full source of income yet. And i’ve been a little worried about what’s going on with eBay. I’m going to be in Washington if we ever do a reseller march :-) Anyway- thank you I really appreciate what you do and information that you give.

    Great Video! Glad you were able to discuss some of the issues we have as sellers on eBay. What I wish would change is for them to allow some feedback on vero/counterfeit claims and even on suspensions. Based on my experience with Vero/Counterfeit the email we get is very cold and there is no way to provide our details. At the very least provide a way we can dispute the claim.

    I agree with most stated. I simply find it absolutely mind blowing that they are willing to halt sales of some second hand items. Where do these used items then go? Eventually a landfill, our oceans/waterways, dumped in impoverished areas of the country and world etc. It is all simply rooted in greed thick and through. I have and will stand by my views that the single most heinous and grotesque human behavior is greed. I understand prescription based items etc but for the most part it’s free game in terms of what one should be able to sell used , within reason of course.

    A true test of how genuine ebay is in changing their attitude toward resellers is to see results from ebay. I sure hope that something comes of this conversation and hopefully many like it. They do well, and we do well, and vice versa. Thanks for representing resellers in an intelligent and reasonable manner, and sharing both some concerns and wish list items.

    Thank you Kevin for all your hard work and supporting all of us. I've only had 1 issue that really bothers me with eBay. Returns. Not just an average return. I had someone wait until there was literally just a couple hours left before the 30 days was up to return something they used for 2 weeks then said it stopped working. Now they have until October 16th to ship it back. It's an animated jack o lantern. We all know that's not getting shipped back until the last minute too. That is so frustrating!

      I experienced that just the other day as a nearly 2 decade seller of computer tech. Someone "buys" some hardware like a video conferencing system. They use it for 28 or 29 days and then opens a return as defective. Then they use it another week or two with a gracious return window. Just like a home depot tool rental except for free and I get to pay shipping both ways.
      eBay use to be just the middleman facilitator offering the online exposure and platform. Now they are the unwanted business manager. The hassle factor is too high. 50% of my sales are now on Craigslist where a sale is a sale and done when cash is handed over. Cumulative that is thousands in eBay sale fees and shipping I don't miss paying.

    Thanks for sharing your experience. It’s good that EBay is actually starting to give a rats about the sellers. It has slowly evolved to put the customer well above the seller in any conflict, especially when it’s customers behaving badly and dishonestly. I started selling in 2002 and the past few years my sales on eBay have nosedived. I sell the exact same items on Etsy and my sales have grown exponentially month on month where Etsy now accounts for 80% of my sales. What I have found is that Etsy has and is continuing investing and supporting sellers. They offer a myriad of support and are quite creative in interacting with their store owners. Coming from working with a very large company that grew massively over my career to the point it had so many choke hold’s trying to action some creative ideas. I think Etsy being a lot smaller company can move fluidly quickly and EBay has become too big a company and probably has too many management layers. It’s obvious when you try to phone with an issue and try and get it elevated.

    A lot of us are everything sellers, and because of that, mistakes will be made. As you mentioned, with a solid track record, we shouldn't be targeted. If I'm unsure of something, I won't list it. Sometimes, you can't win either way. We attempted to sell a brand-name vitamin supplement. Company flagged us for selling counterfeit. Ebay advised us to reach out to the company. We did with no avail. We were in their system, proving we purchased the items directly. They essentially refused to relay that information to eBay. Basically, if a company doesn't want their items being sold by a third party, they won't be. I appreciate the time, effort, and energy you put into this video. I only sell on eBay, and I'm grateful for the freedom it has afforded me and my family. There will be frustrations. I just remind myself of all those years, clocking in and out, selling my time to someone else. Ebay has made it possible to have the life I've always wanted.

    I had a vintage belt buckle taken down the other day claiming it wasn’t authentic😡. eBay needs to worry about going after scammers and not keep picking on their sellers who are the ones who make their money.

    Hi Kevin this happened to me ebay removed my listing and put my store on 7 days suspension because they did removed my listing before. What is funny is the item i bought on ebay and the seller still selling the same item on ebay and his listing not removed!!!!!!
