Here it is 2024 and we still look at this video to get ideas. I have a gallon baggie( I only use Hefty because it’s sturdier) keep it in my kitchen. Anything I find that I can journal on, receipts, labels, pages, tags on vegetables, fruits, tags from clothes etc I stick in bag. Thank you so much for this great video 👍💖
Shannon, I am so glad you are making videos again. You always make me smile. I love listening to you while I’m crocheting or junk journaling. You are a light.
I love your point of not overthinking, just using some of those things vs. waiting for the perfect project and having it someplace where you can easily visit and view the images you liked for inspiration! So simple, but definitely a good reminder!!! Thank you for the inspiration!
You are in a place that I’ve just realized that I have to be in which is “use it up” and “do what pleases me”! I like your style. I love your different types of journals. I will borrow from you, thank you!!! I’m enjoying looking thru your books bc you don’t go painfully slow explaining every little thing or too fast so we can’t see anything. Thank you again!! I love that rules are not in your vocab. This vid was great to start my day, again, thank you!
So Much Fun to see old favorites and I see some new ones, some I hadn't seen before! I am glad I tagged you, you always seem to get me inspired and I just love looking at your glue books! Thanks so much for the shout out! I need to finish my scavenger hunt book, it is on my list to finish this year, but............. after five years you would think it would be further along! Thanks Shannon you are a delight! So glad you "found" me and pushed me into the world of RUclips, even if it was before I was ready!
Hi Shannon, thanks for tagging me. I have been doing glue book videos lately and they are so much fun. I will happily take the glue book tag challenge.
Love your advice, especially, “if you book looks like a kindergartner did it, than that means your inner kindergartener wanted to come out.” Or something like that you said. It is so true. Too many people don’t do something because it doesn’t look like this or that. Just do it! If you like doing it even though it doesn’t look like what you think it should, just keep doing it. Remember practice makes perfect. And the process is the funnest part. Thanks for the video. Love your glue/art/everything books!
You know the main thing I've learnt from you is to recognise what you love and what makes you happy, and embrace it. I love stickers, and am just drawn to them.. And I'm learning now to embrace it.... So thank you!!
The lurking context of your conversation is uplifting and encouraging. I so value your videos for these reasons. I've followed you for years and have made several "unclassifiable" journals and what I find interesting is how satisfying they can be to go through them months and years later, which has led me to add dates and brief notes about what is spinning through my head when I'm gluing. Thank-you for taking the time to share.
Love seeing your glue books! I learned a lot from your video! I just recently made myself a few glue books and started one. I find it very freeing just to glue my favorite magazine images! I love the idea of a black and white theme! Think I will try that too! Thanks for sharing!
Oh Shannon, you hit on what life should be, just be. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I’m still trying not to compare my works to anyone else’s, getting better and feels so freeing.🤗 You are an inspiration.
I have to agree with Beth. I'm just sitting here watching and all of a sudden the Scout book (EnMasse!) comes out and I go "ahhh!" the way the audience does at a rock concert when they start playing one of their all-time hits... Shannon - you do inspire!
I love that your file folders are inked and gorgeous! That must have taken some time! I love listening to you talk, and it’s not just your charming southern accent.
I love this! Some of the earliest art videos I watched were yours and KagedFish's. I really love your quirky humor and relaxed approach towards creating. My daughter is an art student, and I've encouraged her to watch your channel (on more than one occasion) because you have such positive energy. We all tend to criticize ourselves too much, but especially when it comes to our artwork. I love your comment about the internal kindergartner coming out to play! The first "journal" I ever made was a true junk journal from nothing but junk mail, stitched together with whatever cord I had in the house. I believe that journal was inspired by one of your videos. I still use mostly junk mail and images from mail ads and second-hand magazines, envelopes, Costco ads, etc. I don't buy packaged people and other items, really. It's fun to find new ways to use what's at home first, and it's inspiring to see others make amazing art without breaking the bank. Thanks for sharing this, it was really fun to view some of your books. Take care!
Shannon, every time I watch one of your videos, I end up smiling. And you also inspire me to try... “Just play. Have fun”. This one was no different. Thank you for the walk down memory lane with Big Bertha and your other Glue Book Journals. LOL “they’re both! Or none”. LOL Thanks again.
That's the cool thing about having so much stuff. We forget we have it and when we find it and say "oh" in such surprise. Its like I went shopping and didn't even have to drive anywhere -- wahlah. I found yee...yea!!!
Shout out to Big Bertha! 🤩 She's the Celebrity Sighting of Glue Books 😂 I've never seen your Black & White journal its gorgeous and inspirational. I'm so excited to see your new Black & White journal. I'm going to start collecting some images too for my own B&W journal. Eeekkk! Exciting! Thanks for sharing! Love hearing your laughs and giggles. 😆
...as always, you are my inspiration!..LOVE the "Big Bertha" update...am going to dig mine out, & start working on it again, along with some glue books!😉
So glad you are back...missed you heaps!...thank you for making my day better during this COVID thing!...God continue to bless y’all abundantly and stay safe and healthy!
I was wondering if you were gonna pull out Big Bertha. And low and behold, there she be. I love this girl. You and Big Bertha is what got me started moving towards what is now my craft room. Kids are grown and gone and the journey continues. Thank you Shannon for the creation that is Big Bertha and gluing things down -- love it. Hugs from Arizona...:)
Shannon you always crack me up! I am sooo happy you participated. Oh how I miss Big Bertha😂. Love the b&w book, I'm collecting to do one as well. Yes it's open to anyone. I thought I said that in my video but I might have forgot. All are welcome to join no matter what you call your book or what style, that's why I said gluebook or magazine journal. I'm not a stickler for labels either it's not that serious lol Anyway enough of my ramblings. Tfs, Kay
it was wonderful to see your gluebooks Shannon - want to know what i spent the day doing - that's right lol - i've been working in my ongoing En Masse Collection Journal - its about 500 pages sooooo on all of the blank pages i have been just been gluing gluing and more gluing and i love it - i do JB5 pages as well - just pick up anything and Glue Ladies Glue!!!! so much fun - so relaxing - thanks Shannon - be well xx
We all have our definitions of glue books and none are incorrect. To keep it straight in my own head, I won't do more than glue in my glue books. I wonder if the year we started glue booking and the person inspiring us at that time has something to do with our own personal definition of a glue book. Thanks for tagging me! It was a huge surprise. Usually bigger RUclipsrs sweep past smaller channels.
I love the inner kindergartener comment! I do more making of journals than working in them, but seeing yours makes me want to go play in my journals and make more TO play in.
“Use the fodder of everyday life.” What a perfect quote to sum up why I love junk journaling! I am just starting my junk journal journey and a glue book may be my first project. At least I can finally use up some of my decades long magazine images. Thanks for sharing! And um, I adore Big Bertha! She is now one of my muses 😍
What Shannon has shown us, is that everything that we come in contact with, is a form of art. From a mundane tea bag wrap, to candy bar label, it is all designed. One of my favorite videos is when she made a little book out of lingerie labels!
I love your glue books, they are so interesting. I have been looking and looking for a glue book video that inspires me, and yours is one of the few. I don’t understand what makes one person’s glue books more inspiring than another’s, but you have definitely got it! ❤️
You have inspired me for a few years and I always feel like you’re giving me permission to play for no reason, and for me, my work looks like a pre-schooler😁
I absolutely enjoyed this video! Not only was everything you shared absolutely beautiful, but you seem so wise, kind and fabulously interesting! I'm going to try and find all your tagged artist, because I feel like you must give nothing but great advice. Never watched your videos before, but I'll never miss another post again. Wonderful!
I love this so much! Especially the black and white and Big Bertha! I just found your channel this morning and I have a feeling I will be binging a lot today. I recently started filming my junk journals and have been looking for organizing ideas as well as inspiration. You just ticked all those boxes! Thank you so much for posting
Those are all wonderful, even the unfinshed ones , I love all the journals you made :) i can't wait to watch all your videos ! ;) Love love love everything you do Shannon! I love you you make me giggle and smile :) and i love that accent i'm from the south when i was younger :)
Love seeing you back...I haven't watched YT as much without you. Many of the questions....I was guessing your answers by my SG knowledge....lol. Thank you for sharing.❤
I enjoyed seeing all your books, ❤️❤️ I didn't want it to stop. Some great advice especially 'if you don't want to finish it .... Then Don't'.... I think I might just do that... I've got a few on the go but my junk journal is getting big and heavy and I think it's time to move on.... Even though I feel I should finish it... I'm gonna do what makes me happy!! I always enjoy watching, you always make me laugh... Thanks Shannon.... Oh it would be great to see Big Bertha being used once again I might have to go check some of your old videos out I'm sure there's lots I never got to watch.... That blummin' rabbit hole gets ever bigger! 😁😁😁❤️🧡
I don't define my journals at all, what goes in them depends on what inspires me on the day I'm working in it,I love that you've said you don't define as I've been told so many times that mine need to be in different books lol I just say hey my journal my happy place, you want to do a certain thing in each book go for it but I like to flip back and see the different and random things that inspire me from day to day, shows me ,and I'm very eclectic
First gluebook i remember seeing was approximately 58 yrs ago. It was a book my grandmother made in an old clothing pattern book (i think) with newspaper clipping she wanted available to her in the future. Everything from obits, to rec. for new cakes meals ect, to crochet patterns for beautiful dollies and afghans. Each time we visited grandma's, my mom and she would diligently work thru new clippings discussing all the reasons why this article was so important to save and the info contained in the article. CAN U IMAGE HOW BORED I WAS AS A KID? But i did love my grandparents. Thk for my walk down memory lane Shannon.
I love Black and White too ! Creating 1st envelope journal, which is Black and white because I am using security envelopes turned inside out. It is themed for one of my genealogy families. Has all female names, villages listed for two countries for each name and ship notes and will be used for a quick reference/ research journal. I saw some new ideas I will use as you were going through your Books. Thank you.
Good for you, Shannon! First, love your accent! I certainly don’t know definitions, at all! I haven’t done any thing like a glue book or art journal. I think I could do a black and white. Big Bertha is unique, for certain! Your answers are wonderful! Free or cheap is good.
Tammie Freeman it’s the sweetest! I’m a West Coast girl from Eastern Washington! (We don’t claim the western border!). And I know what you mean, but I never get anywhere that they notice the way I speak! Lol!
I enjoyed watching this video. I recently watched the JB5 challenge and wanted to learn more about the process and journal making. Very informative...tfs!
Such great advice! I really get hung up on the idea of not finishing a book/project. So, I'll deconstruct some of my unfinished stuff and add it to a dlfferent unfinished book/project and then... TADA!!! It's finished! Also wanted to say that you were one of the first RUclipsrs I found when I went looking for art journaling and mixed media stuff and you've really inspired me with your "Just have fun!" attitude. Sometimes I take my art (and myself!) way too seriously. I'm glad you're making more videos lately. Love your work! Greetings from Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
I was so sure your advice was going to be to do what makes you happy. I've always appreciated that about you, when you say you do something just because 'it makes me happy'. I was never one to compare myself to others, I didn't always appreciate what I did until I started doing what makes me happy, even if others think it's weird, odd, or otherwise.
Your encouragement is such a joy. Loved this video, especially the part about a journal looking like a kindergartner did it. That spoke volumes to me. So glad you're back doing videos and encouraging us to keep on gluing!
I love your sense of humour, I smile and laugh a lot when I watched this video. I get inspired to just go for it! Thank you! P.S. I learned to double needle coptic from you, and now I don't want to do any other binding. (A good thing)
Shannon I’ve tried 3 times to scratch a spot off my phone, then I realized it was a spot on your table. lol Especially when your hand went across it and it disappeared for a second. 🤪 I also cut out perfume bottles and clocks and watch’s. It addicting!
I'm new here, came over from Kagedfish and so glad I did! Shannon this brought a smile to my face and a few chuckles....don't wait until the universe gives you different supplies lol. I love that Big Bertha has a following. So many great words of encouragement and inspiration.
I am absolutely thrilled to see you making videos again. I missed you !!! Your sense of humor, style, and creativity have been so inspirational to me. My love of 'chunky monkey' journals started with you. Thank you for coming back to us with your guidance and amazing talent. Hi to Bertha !!!
Always enjoy your videos!🥰 All of your different glue books are very creative and inspiring in their own unique way! 😉 I love the advice, as well Shannon! Thanks for sharing!💕👍🏼
Love them. Love what you do. I have an idea of a book based around the colour wheel. Think it needs to be an accordion book or similar so you can sit the pages next to each other. Like the majority of my projects it exists only in my head!
I use other mediums in my glue books when ever I feel like it. Love seeing all your books some I had never seen before. I am still struggling with how to organize my images. My problem is I don’t think in one way my brain goes ever where
LOL I feel ya! My storage/organization methods have changed many times over the years and will probably continue to do so. I hope you're able to find a workable solution!
Here it is 2024 and we still look at this video to get ideas. I have a gallon baggie( I only use Hefty because it’s sturdier) keep it in my kitchen. Shannon, I am so glad you are making videos again. You always make me smile. I love listening to you while I’m crocheting or junk journaling. You are a light.
I'm so glad, Natalie, thank you!
I've collected images for years, never knowing what I would do with them! I have them categorized just like yours. I guess I'm in good company!
Absolutely!
I love how you say don’t go down that road. Do what you want to do. ❤
I love your point of not overthinking, just using some of those things vs. waiting for the perfect project and having it someplace where you can easily visit and view the images you liked for inspiration! So simple, but definitely a good reminder!!! Thank you for the inspiration!
You are so very welcome!
I am so happy you are back on. I have watched you for years. You and Karla are my absolute favorites.. You both inspire me. Thank you.
I sure do appreciate you!
You are in a place that I’ve just realized that I have to be in which is “use it up” and “do what pleases me”! I like your style. I love your different types of journals. LOL A lot of folks, myself included, are super glad you're out there now inspiring our socks off!! Thank you again my friend!
Shannon...I find that however we organize or don't organize is part of the fun of the way we each do it. Your books are great~
Hi Shannon, thanks for tagging me. I have been doing glue book videos lately and they are so much fun. I will happily take the glue book tag challenge.
Woo hoo!! I look forward to watching!

You are so welcome Louisa!
I'm so glad you included Big Bertha! I would have been so sad if she was left out!
She would have thrown an absolute fit!
As I was going back through some of these I made a mental note to start putting more dates on stuff...I'm so bad about forgetting to do that!
Love seeing your glue books! I learned a lot from your video! I just recently made myself a few glue books and started one. I find it very freeing just to glue my favorite magazine images! I love the idea of a black and white theme! Think I will try that too! Thanks for sharing!

I absolutely love your journals / glue books!!! Big Bertha is incredible and inspiring!!!
Thanks Janet!
Oh Shannon, you hit on what life should be, just be. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I’m still trying not to compare my works to anyone else’s, getting better and feels so freeing.🤗 You are an inspiration.
Oh thank you Dawn!!
I'll tell you one thing you sure changed my life💗💗💗thank you !!!!
And thank YOU for watching, Glenda!
I have to agree with Beth. I'm just sitting here watching and all of a sudden the Scout book (EnMasse!) comes out and I go "ahhh!" the way the audience does at a rock concert when they start playing one of their all-time hits... Shannon - you do inspire!
LOL That cracked me up!
I love your common sense approach to art and life. Thank you for being an inspiration to us all!❤❤❤
Thanks for watching and for your kind words!
excellent flip through and faux-tutorial. Very inspiring! '..just use the FODDER of everyday life..'
So glad you enjoyed it!
You are truly a joy to watch, I love your videos and your way of thinking. Thank you for being an inspiration to us😍😁🌝
Thanks so much Etta!

Thank you my friend!!
I love that your file folders are inked and gorgeous! That must have taken some time! I love listening to you talk, and it’s not just your charming southern accent.
I sure do appreciate you taking the time to watch!
I love this! Some of the earliest art videos I watched were yours and KagedFish's. I really love your quirky humor and relaxed approach towards creating. Thanks so very much Kristin!
Wow. The black and white journal is beautiful and really unique. Love it!!!
Thanks so much!

Thank you for such a wonderful and inclusive idea, Kay! I hope many more will join in the fun.
I really like your videos. Somehow you make me feel like everything is OK and fun, and I don’t even have to finish what I start! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching!

Loved hearing your insights and tips Shannon - especially the permission to not have to finish a book!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love your flip throughs and it’s lovely to see Big Bertha again xx
Thanks so much Anne!
I watch your videos over and over. By 5's is genius. And immensely helpful!
I’m so glad you enjoy my videos!
I love your black and white journal!!!! Thanks for sharing
💐 Shannon ! What a joy to see you again 🥳🐿👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you!!
I love the inner kindergartener comment!
I do more making of journals than working in them, but seeing yours makes me want to go play in my journals and make more TO play in.
I've made quite a few that never got used and that's okay too!
“Use the fodder of everyday life.” What a perfect quote to sum up why I love junk journaling! I am just starting my junk journal journey and a glue book may be my first project. What Shannon has shown us, is that everything that we come in contact with, is a form of art. From a mundane tea bag wrap, to candy bar label, it is all designed. One of my favorite videos is when she made a little book out of lingerie labels!
@@babyvaughan I will go looking for that one!
LOVE that black and white journal!! Well all your journals are fantastic!!
Thank you Margaret!
I love your glue books, they are so interesting. I have been looking and looking for a glue book video that inspires me, and yours is one of the few. I don’t understand what makes one person’s glue books more inspiring than another’s, but you have definitely got it! ❤️
Oh I’m so happy you found some inspiration here!
You have inspired me for a few years and I always feel like you’re giving me permission to play for no reason, and for me, my work looks like a pre-schooler😁
Give that pre-schooler permission to play and just have fun with it!
I love your glue books Shannon. And your 'Who cares, just do it" attitude toward gluing things down! You're so fun to listen to!!!
I love the En Masse Journal. I watched you put this together and this the reason I started getting yearly travel catalogue from Oklahoma.
Before I filmed this video, I went through and added a few things to my En Masse. I love that I can revisit and add to it at any time!
Wonderful!
Oh my goodness you are so sweet to say that! I sure do appreciate you taking the time to watch!
Questions 11... best advice for newbies. Thanks for being real and you!

Oh my gosh that is so cool! Okay maybe not so much when you were a kid but what a treasured memory to have!
Thank you.
What a cool project!!
Thank you! I am considering myself tagged! I hope you realize how inspiring you are.
Thank you so much!
Good for you, Shannon! First, love your accent! I certainly don’t know definitions, at all! I haven’t done any thing like a glue book or art journal. I think I could do a black and white. Big Bertha is unique, for certain! Your answers are wonderful! Free or cheap is good.
Thanks for watching, Carolyn!
What accent?? Lol I’m from Texas and I don’t think we have accents here do we?🙄
Tammie Freeman it’s the sweetest! I’m a West Coast girl from Eastern Washington! (We don’t claim the western border!). And I know what you mean, but I never get anywhere that they notice the way I speak! Lol!
@@tfntexas Right? I don't hear it!
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and I sure do appreciate you taking the time to watch!
I love this gluebook! Thanks for aharing
Thank you for sharing ❤️I Love the way you teach you teach to be your self
I’m so glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching!
This is awsome... You have a picture in your glue Book, that l also have, that is real fun..❤️☺️
I sure do appreciate you watching!
I'm giving you a virtual high five!!
Thank you. You are such an inspiration.
Your encouragement is such a joy. Loved this video, especially the part about a journal looking like a kindergartner did it. That spoke volumes to me. So glad you're back doing videos and encouraging us to keep on gluing!
Thanks so much Gloria!
Very cool to see your books again!😃
Thanks Arrabella!
Inspiring as always
Thank you Glenda!
Love this its wonderful
I love your sense of humour, I smile and laugh a lot when I watched this video. I get inspired to just go for it! Thank you! P.S. I learned to double needle coptic from you, and now I don't want to do any other binding. (A good thing)
That's so awesome!!
Thanks so much for the inspiration and encouragement, to just be free and do me!! I'M A FAN!
Shannon I’ve tried 3 times to scratch a spot off my phone, then I realized it was a spot on your table. lol Especially when your hand went across it and it disappeared for a second. 🤪 I also cut out perfume bottles and clocks and watch’s. It addicting!
😂😂😂
Great video. You were my inspiration when I first started a few years back . Thanks

Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
I loved your video. I have to say, You’ve inspired me in so many ways. Glue books, junk journals, life. ❤️👏😃
I'm so glad!! Thank you for watching :)
Thanks so much and Bertha says hey!
Always enjoy your videos!🥰 All of your different glue books are very creative and inspiring in their own unique way! 😉 I love the advice, as well Shannon! Thanks for sharing!💕👍🏼
Thanks for watching, Cheryl!
Love them. Love what you do. I have an idea of a book based around the colour wheel. Think it needs to be an accordion book or similar so you can sit the pages next to each other. Like the majority of my projects it exists only in my head!
It'll be awesome when it's ready to be born!
