Over 8 years old and people all over RUclips are referencing this video, recommending this video, watching this video…..I LOVE LOVE LIVE IT!!!! I just found you so I’m going back to see if you have update videos and/or a completion video! You are so creative! Thank you for sharing this gorgeous idea!!!! ❤
I did a journal with like colors back in the 70's. I wish I still had it. Thanks for reminding me how much fun these are to make. Now I'm going to have to make another one. :D
Happy New Year! OMG! I did this a year ago with a Martha Stewart spring time magazine, because the pictures in it were pretty, and her magazines were sturdy. I glued several pages together, for strength, making sure that the lovely images were face up, and if I couldn't work that out, I simply tore out the other pretty ones out and glued them where I wanted them. I used the colors in the photos as my prompts, and then began having a ball. I glued, snipped and taped my way to nirvana! The bonus is that I have finally found a safe place for all my beloved treasures that have been knocking around in boxes, drawers, books and envelopes for 20+ years. Now they're all safely tucked away in my awesome junk treasure journal and I smile at my messy, fat book of memories every time that I see it sitting on the shelf above my desk. Have a Fab. 2016, and stay as much fun as you've always been. lol
+MandyOf Marymac Serendipity! I've heard from several people who have done something similar and everyone says the same thing...they absolutely love it! Happy New Year!
Ok, I have ordered my Oklahoma travel guide (grandson lives in OK), will start collecting the things that I don't have that I can glue into my journal. This will be so much fun! Glad you came up with this idea!
It makes me happy too! I loved teaching art, and always pulled in different collages, mono thematic, like all eyes, personal collages etc. I had them collage and decorate their writer's notebooks. I miss it!
Your BRILLIANT!!! I absolutely LOVE the postage stamp page!! I collect used postage stamps (just because they look cool). I found an old "Circulation Statistics Record" book from my school library. The pages are thick, and I think this book would make a perfect en masse collection journal. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
I'm in! My prompts are printed out and my brochure is ordered and I am excited! I have plenty of things I can use for my journal but I love the tooled look of your brochure, it may be different but I hope there is some of that leather look in it. I have so many postage stamps and bits and this is a wonderful way to display them. Thanks for the idea. Now I will go read the comments to see what everyone else is thinking. Happy New Year!
This is how I use my journals, glue books. It is so relaxing to just stick stuff wherever. I think you have given me an idea. To try to make a junk journal out of stuff I can get free like this book (which they still have a 2020 version)
oh my goodness, Shannon, you know I can't sit by and just watch you have all tge fun -- just about the time you showed the categories index, I knew exactly what I am going to use for my en masse collection journal -- I know it is a new year because everyone is starting new projects and I wanna do them allllllll!!!!! I think you should start planning now for your journal to be a revolving door journal where the pages revolve around a center pole rather than sit flat - that way, it can be as fat as it wants. I will be tagging along - thanks for sharing
+TheMeriAtelier It just might end up being a "journal in the round" and I'm good with that! I'm with you....seeing lots of fun new projects being introduced and wanting in on all of them!
Wow! I won't even need to move from my room to fill a journal but knowing me very well I am sure to be out and about amassing a mass to add to the giant mass I already have :) Thank you for sharing!!!!!! Happy New Year, I hope everything you wish for comes your way.
I'm a gatherer of all things Oklahoma (I live in your "blue" category...Tulsa😉). I love the cover of this book! Hopefully this is good publicity for our beloved state 👍🏻. I have an enormous ephemera collection and am excited to have a plan for using it instead of holding on for the just in case projects. Enjoyed your video! xo Beth
I get more beautiful inspirations from you Shannon. Your creative soul speaks to me. I'm new to journals - mixed media, you have helped me so much! TFS!! You are my mentor.🌰XO❤XO🎃XO❤🍁
You know, Shannon, I didn't think it could be done, but you've DONE IT. You've outdone your JB5 method of art journaling!! CONGRATS!! I love this and I'm going to do it SOON! As usual, you are totally inspiring. Oh, BTW....the images I've been collecting for more JB5 books? EN MASSE-ing them, baby!! (I have some old Somerset Studios that have this method...Like Dede did...written all over them, can't wait!!) Have a good weekend!
I printed off the sheet that is a great idea to have a collection journal. I sure would love to use up more of what I have. You are just so dare clever. Son left for Dallas at 5 am this morning.
+Linda Lapotka I am super excited about this journal! I hope your son has a safe trip and enjoys his new home! He'll be saying y'all and fixin' in no time!
Love this idea and I just glued my two magazines together! Used two travel magazines that are about the same size as yours. I love the idea of this being the year we use our stash up. Just so fun. Thank you for the great ideas too!
+Christine Watson Woo hoo!! I have to confess that I imagine we will all fill up our collections journals so that they're extra fat and happy but at the end of the year we'll still be saying, "I need to purge my stash"! Heh :)
What a stunning magazine cover. Oh, I want one. I love the postage stamp page. I save and use all the stamps I can get my hands on. I have a box covered in them and guess what I keep in it - stamps, of course! I just covered a small pencil box with them, too. Postage stamps are mini works of art, right? I can see that you are going to have lots of fun with this project.
I love this idea. I am going to start asap. Like maybe today. You are such a talented lady. Your brain must work overtime with all the ideas you have. Happy New Year to you and Jason.
Happy New Year Project!! I was a little confused this morning when I checked my RUclips and had so many comments on the Scavenger Hunt Book, when I read them I saw "Shannon sent me". I'm so glad I inspired this project for you! I am working on my book (not the one shown in the video) and I look forward to working along with you! It is so much fun to see how others use the idea!! I want to thank you again for inspiring me to continue to craft, when I thought I was just finishing up old projects and moving on the something else. you have made paper crafting fun for me again!
+Kagedfish Yay for renewed enthusiasm! And for extra traffic on your channel :) I'm determined to give your channel as much exposure as I possibly can because you really do have some great ideas that I know a lot of people would be interested in seeing. And thank you again for allowing me to use one of your fantastic ideas!!
I have to admit I'm a little overwhelmed, I'm having a hard time replying to all these wonderful comments. but I appreciate all you have done for me!! :)
This sounds like great fun!!! I love the idea of using magazines as journals...I never thought of gluing 2 together. I will be downloading the list and already have some ideas for categories of my own. I too adore "cut -n- paste" so this "speaks" to me. :)
Oh my goodness, Shannon. 2016 is the year we use our stuff? I SO needed this video. I could open my own craft store. JoAnn and Michael said they would pay me to leave town!
LOVE this idea Shannon!.. I'm already running with the idea of piecing two magazines together. Next, I guess I'll get my color tabs set up, and just go from there. I'm definitely a "collector", so I think this really will be fun throughout the year! Thanks so much for the inspiration, and Happy New Year! ~tina
I feel your enthusiasm Shannon Green! I have a big fat catalog that will be perfect for this. Now I can just paint, glue and play without feeling like it has to be Art when I'm done. I just wanna have fun!
I love this idea Shannon, I would love to have ago at this, but it will take me about 2 weeks to get myself organized. happy new year to you Shannon, Jason and taylor. and I shall wish Jason well into finding a new job very soon. hugs xxxxx
I live in Oklahoma and plan on driving to dallas this week to visit my family and I'm excited about it since I know I can stop at the travel Plaza going both ways to get travel guides and not have to wait on them to come in the mail! Just have to sneak them past the hubby (he is a little OCD with cleanliness and order, my crafting areas drive him batty)
Such a great idea!! I've been trying to get back in to art journaling but just haven't been inspired to do anything...so sad...TILL NOW!!! thank you so much!!
So going to be doing this as have two old planners that I been wondering what to do with them , now I know lol and know will have so much fun with this thanks for sharing x
I hate being on the late freight! But will be starting this tomorrow! Fabulous idea! Thanks so much Shannon....PS. Dede DOES know everything. Love that lady!
I love this kind of projects. I don't know if I'll do it, I often begin somothing and don't finish it. But it's ok, I love a lot of things, I see wonderful projects on youtube and I want to try them all. Love your videos. Happy New Year.
+Johanne Lacombe I used to feel bad about all of my unfinished projects but now I've made peace with them. They aren't a sign of my ADD or lack of follow-through...they are a sign that I'm doing stuff and that's what counts! So yay for unfinished projects! This one is easy to customize...start small, pick and choose your categories and see how it goes. Happy New Year to you as well!
+Anne Hayward Me too! That cover is so fabulous, it had to cost a fortune so I assume they'll run out at some point. I just hope it's after all the crafters get theirs ;)
Love you pages....like the amassed word.....you sound like me..I agree with everything you said...yes let's use our stash and yes yes yes....we MuST use up our precious collections......TFS
looooove that so much!!!! I have to try it out!!!! I will start smaller.... I have a magazine already gessoed and ready to go and was missing inspiration. Now I have it :)
I am lovin your channel, I found you from cat and mmm's. I am doing your Journaling by 5's, so wish I would have found this and that years ago. Just a big thank you for all your idea shares! Happiness to you!
Omg! That video also spoke to me! I loved the idea of doing that Scavenger Hunt Journal. Augh, Dede's Magazine Journal' are AWESOME!!! I was looking for a project for 2016 & these are the best for me. That page is awesome! The soothing one... Haha. Accumulator...hum, I like that word. What paint do you use that your pages don't stick together? That stamp page is gorgoues! I am definitely joining on this journey! Thank you for sharing this awesome idea!
+lebiram45 Yay, a partner in crime! Or art, rather ;) I used all kinds of different paint throughout the book but most of the white paint that I used to cover the text is some interior latex house paint that I got off the oops rack at Home Depot. My color pages have a variety of different paints on them, mostly acrylics. There were a couple of pages that tried to stick together and normally when that happens I give them a light coat of Daddy Van's Beeswax Furniture Polish. But since these pages are works in progress I didn't want the wax to interfere with future gluing so instead I brushed on some cornstarch baby powder which does a pretty good job at reducing stickiness. Even just plain cornstarch from your kitchen will work.
Another fun creative Shannon thing! I'm thinking of gluing a couple of National Geographics together. That could be interesting. I'll be going on a magazine hunt. Keep those ideas coming, you're so inspiring, and one of my resolutions is to try something new.
OMG Shannon Green I just stopped at 7 minutes and ordered my Oklahoma travel guide and map kit, direct to Switzerland and they said OK can you belive it I thought it was exclusive for USA (free) but SURPRISE SURPRISE :"Your order will arrive on the next 10/14 days". Oh I AM SO HAPPY!!!!!! THANKS TO YOU. I am so excited. .... like a kid( shame on me)!!!!! If it ever arrives I'll let you know. Thanks again and forgive my English. Laura
+Laura Orta LOL I'm so glad Laura! But there's a downside. You will probably get the 2016 guide which does not have the same wonderful cover that this one does. However...it will be full of the same type of pages and it's totally free so you can't beat that! Yay Oklahoma!
Oh! It's such beautiful cover..... but even so I'll have all that images if it arrives with or without cover I'll be HAPPY .Thank you to lose your time to unser me . L
This is a great idea. I like the look of your pages...they are very visual appealing. BTW...I've been binge watching your videos the last couple of days. I caught a crummy cold while traveling back and forth to Cleveland for the holidays. My cure??? Lots of Shannon videos! (Only problem is you make me laugh all the time and then I start coughing. LOL)
+Cathy Rose Creations I'm so sorry you have a cold but what's the saying? Laughter is the best medicine? Well...once the coughing fit passes. LOL I hope you start feeling better soon, Cathy, and I appreciate you taking the time to watch my videos!
Happy New Year Shannon. I am so going to do this. Please can you do a a video telling us how you got into crafting - right from the beginning, how you started crafting to what you do now - Would be so interesting to see what goes in your head when your thinking about creating :)
OMG: You are my hero! I have just started art journaling, and am overwhelmed on how to start or what to do first (Actually did a couple of pages and they were hideous, so I threw them away, but I am not discouraged. I will just try again.). It was fun just getting all of my supplies......lol. I am going to convince my children to stop calling me a "hoarder" and start thinking of me as an "accumulator". Guess the best way to start is to just jump in so here goes. Can't wait to watch more of your videos.
Happy New Year! Thank you for sharing this Shannon! This is a perfect project for me. I am also an "Accumulator" and I had decided my personal challenge for this year is to use up all (or at least make a serious dent in) these wonderful things I have been collecting! This is a great way for me to start!
Hi Shannon, Did you have a Great Holiday? & " Happy New Year Dear Heart "...Just saw Meri's Video and I thought OMG !!!! What is Shannon doing Now ? LOL...I should have known it would be AWESOME !!! So Cool, I mean this is Right up my Alley, Cause I am a NUT when it comes to Glueing, Cutting & Collecting...Adding this one to my 2016 List, went & ordered the Travel Guide and a few more Pamphlets ( How could I NOT...LOL..) TYFS All this Info & Links. Love You a Very BIG Much!!! XOXOXO
+Mary Ann McMillin LOL Oh my gosh you are so precious, I love your comments! And I swear Meri jumped on this before the video finished uploading! Ha! I think it will be a lot of fun and I hope more people jump in and join us. We did have a great holiday and Happy New Year to you and yours as well!
Love this! I'm in :) Can't wait to get started. Shannon you truly are amazing and I love your sense of humor. Keep on keeping on and I can't wait to see more of your En Masse Collection Journal when you post more videos. Happy New Year by the way! :)
+Patricia Hayes Happy New Year to you Patricia! I've already filmed an update on the journal and will publish it in the next few days. I'm really loving the process!
super fun idea. I have some blank books from the dollar spot at Target that i have been hoarding with no designated use and I am going to use those. they come 3 to a package and I have a couple packages so I'll be able to get a bunch of prompts done. since they are staple bound I might put them into a cover using a midori style binding. Ordered the Oklahoma book so i can have the cover lol
+Michelle M at LadyBlueStudios What a great idea for those blank books! As a native Texan it is my duty to make fun of Oklahoma at every possible opportunity (bless their hearts) but I have to admit...they hit a home run with their cover design for this brochure!
Got my first Oklahoma catalog (Yes, I ordered a second time, too)....and they are not the 'tooled' looking one...but they are going to be so much fun......I wonder what other states have to offer.....can't wait to try your prompts.....lol
+Janet Pingrey I haven't sent for my 2016 Oklahoma book yet but I've heard the new cover is very interesting! Nothing will ever be as awesome as the tooled leather one but that's okay...still lots of fun possibilities!
I have the perfect magazine to use for this project. I am in for this as I have lots of stuff to just use up and my goal for 2016 was to use what I have vs buying more stuff.
This is certainly unique way to make a journal. Can't see it for me at this time, but by the comments below, it seems you certainly have struck a chord. It's really interesting to see all the various ways artists present their craft.
Man, you don't waste any time, do ya ?.........lol.......love this idea.......Oklahoma tourist office is going to wonder WTH(eck) on Monday........all you all (you, Cat Hand, TheMeriAtelier, Dee Dee and now Kagedfish) got me back into playing in 2015 and I am already going crazy with all the projects I will be doing this year......Thank you for all the fun......
What a wonderful idea. I don't have a collection yet because I'm a newbie but I will have fun going thru all my magazines. So I printed the sheet - am I able to switch out some of these categories to items that I really love - like owls, coffee, fairies ...etc? ~janet :)
oh! I love this! I ordered my book from Oklahoma ... hope they send the same type but their cover might be different now. we'll see. I already know what some of my categories will be. I love things en masse... large collections are so fascinating. Thank you for sharing the information about working front/back to avoid spine distortion... i was planning on working my day planner that way but now i know it Needs to be done that way (huge help!!) Happy New Year Shannon!
+pTanino Happy New Year to you too Pam! The might change the cover but inside the book are several pages that look just like the cover...they separate the "chapters". They aren't glossy and embossed like the cover is but they do have that cool tooled leather pattern on them. I'm telling ya, DeDe knows stuff and I like knowing people who know stuff ;)
OMG Shannon. Where do you come up With such fun things? And you know I want to do this. But I have to have one of those travel books! Not like I don't already have a hundred projects to do! lol. Oh goody I have stamps and washers. This would be a good way to use up my junk! But oh my goodness another project!!
+Donna Harris (Southern Crafty Lady) LOL Believe me, I know the feeling! I have enough unfinished projects to keep me busy for an eternity but I just keep starting new ones! And yes, you have to have one of those travel books. You just have to. ;)
Dang it I am going to do your magazine from magazines already and now I have to do this also !!!! This is funny because I live Oklahoma and when I first moved here that movie was playing every where.
HMMM...What to use for this....I know my Wine Spectacular magazines...I am a subbie to them and they are the size of W magazine which I also get..I can glue a few of them together...I can't wait to get started.....and I love how you eventually get to the point....you talk to us not at us
+Magz 3 Yes they will. On the website look down where you enter your postal code. You'll see that Country-USA is the default. Next to that, click on the word "change" and choose your country from the drop down menu, then proceed to enter your shipping info.
I would also love to see your list. I did go to the recommended sites and have started one, but another obsessive quality of mine - like I don't have enough - is lists! Share your list, please =)
+Linda DeChow I put a link for category list in the video description so you can download it here: drive.google.com/file/d/0Bxc70lzVoI5Qa2JjYUpyV000SEU/view?usp=sharing
Hi Shannon, if you are still working in this book, could you please demonstrate what you are talking about piecing two magazines together on the seam and what glue you are using to seal pages and gluing in the collection list? sorry but just not "getting it" quite yet. TIA xo
+Cynthia All I did was remove the back cover of magazine 1 and the front cover of magazine 2. Then glue the last page in magazine 1 to the first page in magazine 2. I added extra glue (Tacky glue) along the outside of the spine in the seam where the 2 magazines joined. I don't seal any of the pages before I work on them. Some of them have been randomly gessoed, others have been painted, a few have background papers glued in, and a lot of them are just as-is. I use a variety of glues to attach my items, just depending on the item. I use glue stick, white glue, tacky glue, Beacon 3-in-1 (I used that on my collection list since I had laminated it so it was slick), Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue, Mod Podge, etc.
You come up with the most creative ideas and so different all the time. This is great and my favorite is the HUGE journal that you did the with paint swatches. That was a real treat. Do you have a video regarding how you made this fantastic journal? I have no luck with glue and magazine pages because they always look terrible when I start to glue 3 or 4 pages together. What glue did you use? This is going to be a full-time relaxing project. I have so much "stuff" to use and I will be days just separating it. lolThanks for sharing.
+scobbydotwo To glue the 2 magazines together I used The Ultimate glue by Crafters Pick. It is very similar to Aleene's Tacky Glue. I spread it with a card to get a thin even layer and it worked just fine. Yes the pages buckle a little, that's just what they do with any kind of wet glue. But that's okay in a junk journal situation like this. I used a glue stick for the postage stamp pages and plain ol' Mod Podge to glue down the wax paper scraps. Watch closely when I show my Use It Up Journal...notice how the pages are wrinkled and buckled and uneven. At first they might look like something you'd want to fix or redo, but when you start adding stuff to your journal, all those awful glued together pages suddenly start to make sense!
I think these are also called Smash Books or Smash Journals---the collection of magazine pics or similar paper. I mention this only because it's just another word to use for hunting info on RUclips. :-D
OK I started on my Oklahoma junk journal today. Gesso on a few pages is as far as I've gotten but at least I'm started. Not counting the 7 other projects I'm working on. LOL One which is a journal I started in 2011 and I really want to finish this year!
lol so true! Right now I'm working on my Glue Book. By the way I've been collections clocks and watches for a long time now. But after one of your videos I am now collecting perfume bottles. Ugg if I collect much more I may have to keep it in the car! lol
Over 8 years old and people all over RUclips are referencing this video, recommending this video, watching this video…..I LOVE LOVE LIVE IT!!!! I did a journal with like colors back in the 70's. I wish I still had it. Thanks for reminding me how much fun these are to make. Now I'm going to have to make another one. :D

It makes me happy that a Texan is so thrilled with a book from Oklahoma (my home state). This looks like a fun project! Happy New Year Shannon! ~Kari
+JokersSoul 69 LOL It is my duty as a native Texan to make fun of Oklahoma as much as possible but in this case I have to admit they done good!
I totally understand. As it is my duty as a native Oklahoman to make fun of Texas. Love you Shannon!! Boomer Sooner!
oh my goodness, Shannon, you know I can't sit by and just watch you have all tge fun -- just about the time you showed the categories index, I knew exactly what I am going to use for my en masse collection journal -- I know it is a new year because everyone is starting new projects and I wanna do them allllllll!!!!! +Beth McDonald I grew up in North Texas in Wichita Falls which is so close to the border it's practically Southern Oklahoma. ;)
I get more beautiful inspirations from you Shannon. Your creative soul speaks to me. I'm new to journals - mixed media, you have helped me so much! TFS!! You are my mentor.🌰XO❤XO🎃XO❤🍁
Oh I am so happy to hear that!!!
🌰XO❤XO🎃XO❤🍁
Just ordered my travel guide! LOL. I love that you used this, it's a great idea to look at these types of brochures for images too.
+SweetWillowDesigns Absolutely!
This is super :) another great idea just downloaded the page can not wait to get started, thank you.
+Creatively Amy You are so very welcome!
Fantastic Idea, love it can't wait to see how your journal evolves.... You Rock girl
+Cindy Sutton Ha! Thanks Cindy!

Oh Shannon, I am picking up this project late, really late and going with it! I love your humor too! I am a member of your group! Thank you🥀
I'm so glad you're in my group and thrilled that you're trying out the en masse fun! Late for one person is just in time for another :)
Thank you Shannon🥀
I would love to see an update on this!
+elkeartsandcrafts Elaine Jones I agree, they're little works of art!
This looks like so much FUN, Shannon! I hope I can fit it in. Somewhere. TFS! 😊
+Cat Hand LOL Sleeping is such a waste of time. Says the narcoleptic. ;)
I love this idea. I am going to start asap. Like maybe today. You are such a talented lady. Your brain must work overtime with all the ideas you have. Happy New Year to you and Jason.
+Darlene Bromberger I just wish I had time to bring all those ideas to life but there's just not enough hours in the day!
How did I miss this video? I love it! Very interesting! Fun-fun-fun!
+christierella thanks Christie!
This sounds like great fun!!! I love the idea of using magazines as journals...I never thought of gluing 2 together. I will be downloading the list and already have some ideas for categories of my own. I too adore "cut -n- paste" so this "speaks" to me. :)
+angiegal71 I'm so glad! I think it's going to be a lot of fun :)
I watch all your videos. Love the way you think. I just ordered the Oklahoma brochure. I cannot wait to start my collection journal.
+Eva Ream Thanks so very much!! I think the 2016 brochure has different covers (dang it) but it's still a great book to use!
Oh my goodness, Shannon. 2016 is the year we use our stuff? I SO needed this video. I could open my own craft store. JoAnn and Michael said they would pay me to leave town!
+Maryann Anderson LOL I hear ya!~
I love the randomness of your process.
+Maggie Silva So glad you enjoyed it!
Love this journal and so LOVE the Pinterest board! You are just so cleaver!
+thejunkjunque Thank you!
~tina
+bleigh8793 I'm so glad you're playing along, Tina, we're going to have a ball!
I feel your enthusiasm Shannon Green! I have a big fat catalog that will be perfect for this. Now I can just paint, glue and play without feeling like it has to be Art when I'm done. I just wanna have fun!
+Sally Eeds Yes!! No pressure, just gluing and playing like a first grader!
I love to glue too Shannon! Downloaded the prompt page and looking for something to use! Love it!
+artzology Yay! Deb's collecting with me!!
I love this idea Shannon, I would love to have ago at this, but it will take me about 2 weeks to get myself organized. happy new year to you Shannon, Jason and taylor. and I shall wish Jason well into finding a new job very soon. hugs xxxxx
+dottygin Thank you so very much Gina, now get busy with that organizing so we can play!!
Can't believe how much I feel my mind is in tune with yours!
+Enrica Mcintosh We must be sharing a brain!
I so want todo this a great way to use all my magazines I got laying around
+Kathleen Hurley Yep, perfect solution!
Awesome project for the new year! Just downloaded the doc and can't wait to see what unfolds. Thanks Shannon.
+Gwyn Walker You're welcome Gwyn!
Love this idea. I have really enjoyed your Jb5's and am now looking forward to doing this. Thank you for sharing your ideas with us.
+Mary Cook You are very welcome and thank YOU for taking the time to watch and listen to my ramblings :)
+Christy Mills Ha! You'll just have to perfect the art of perfectly controlled chaos!
Such a great idea!! I've been trying to get back in to art journaling but just haven't been inspired to do anything...so sad...TILL NOW!!! thank you so much!!
+Janice Dublanko Yay for inspiration!!
I just ordered Oklahoma 2020 brochures. Great ideas. Lots of time to do things during corona COVID lockdown.
Enjoy!
So going to be doing this as have two old planners that I been wondering what to do with them , now I know lol and know will have so much fun with this thanks for sharing x
+smurfie161 Excellent use for old planners!
Great idea.. love it.. That is one beautiful cover.... I used to do things with leather like that.. very cool
+Marion Armitage I did that tooled leather thing too back in the day but was never very good at it :)
I hate being on the late freight! But will be starting this tomorrow! Fabulous idea! Thanks so much Shannon....PS. Dede DOES know everything. Love that lady!
+rungirl2008 Thanks so much for watching!
+Shannon Green Thank you. You're right, it's not too bad to have unfinished projects. I think I'll begin your project and see how it goes.
Wow! Wow! Wow! I love this Shannon what a fantastic idea 😊 going to have to find a magazine or something to try this tfs xxx
Just ordered the Oklahoma travel Guide hope it's like yours xxx
+Anne Hayward Me too! That cover is so fabulous, it had to cost a fortune so I assume they'll run out at some point. I just hope it's after all the crafters get theirs ;)
Love you pages....like the amassed word.....you sound like me..I agree with everything you said...yes let's use our stash and yes yes yes....we MuST use up our precious collections......TFS
+Zeffy Konstantinidis This is the year we use our stuff!
looooove that so much!!!! I have to try it out!!!! I will start smaller.... I have a magazine already gessoed and ready to go and was missing inspiration. Now I have it :)
+Crafting Vicky See? It was meant to be :)
'And then I remembered who I am! ' . .. love this . . .
Such an awesome idea! Tfs and inspiring! Very much appreciate all you share. I can't wait to start one!
+Marion Ginbey Thanks so much for watching!
I am lovin your channel, I found you from cat and mmm's. I am doing your Journaling by 5's, so wish I would have found this and that years ago. Just a big thank you for all your idea shares! Happiness to you!
+Crystal Dragonfly I am so excited to hear that you're doing JB5! Thank you for taking the time to watch :)
+Shannon Green Thanks for the tip!
Another fun creative Shannon thing! I'm thinking of gluing a couple of National Geographics together. That could be interesting. I'll be going on a magazine hunt. Keep those ideas coming, you're so inspiring, and one of my resolutions is to try something new.
+Kathy Adams OH NatGeo would be fab!!
I am going to try to do this next year. Thanks for sharing this idea.
Thanks so much for watching!
I'm so excited....Glueing I can do, I can do this. I've already got a book that is prep to go, from another video I watched of yours. Thanks
+leeder1g Woo hoo!!!
Happy New Year Shannon. I am so going to do this.
Please can you do a a video telling us how you got into crafting - right from the beginning, how you started crafting to what you do now - Would be so interesting to see what goes in your head when your thinking about creating :)
+Peachy Outlook Now that's an interesting idea. Okay, I will add that to my video to-do list and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the idea!
so glad :)
+Susan Markwell Dive in head first and keep swimming...you'll get the hang of it!
Happy New Year! Thank you for sharing this Shannon! This is a perfect project for me. I am also an "Accumulator" and I had decided my personal challenge for this year is to use up all (or at least make a serious dent in) these wonderful things I have been collecting! This is a great way for me to start!
+Mary Lou (Auntie Loopy) So many folks have said something similar so I think this will be a fun project for us!
I'm really loving the process!
i find all of your videos so helpful. they have been an inspiration to me. thank you xx
Thank you for watching!
super fun idea.
You always have the most amazing journals. I'm still trying to find magazine clippings for my JB'5s. Love the whole concept!
+mskaykrafts Thanks Claudene!
Happy New Year Shannon, This is an awesome idea & I really like your concept... This is the year to use your stuff/stash!~
+MsNatualTee202 Yes! Let's USE our stuff, it will be an exciting change! LOL
I have the perfect magazine to use for this project. I am in for this as I have lots of stuff to just use up and my goal for 2016 was to use what I have vs buying more stuff.
+Pamala Hanson Yay for using our stuff!
Wonderful project! Can't wait to get started! Might use my "book of unwasted paint"!
+Faye Chilcoat Perfect choice!
This is certainly unique way to make a journal. Can't see it for me at this time, but by the comments below, it seems you certainly have struck a chord. It's really interesting to see all the various ways artists present their craft.
+MsStuffgalore Thanks for watching!
I sure love your take on fun stuff
Thanks for watching!
I just found this sure wish it was just starting it looks like so much fun
I can not figure out how to glue pages together like all of you do, and get fairly flat, smooth pages.
As someone who is completely new to art journaling, this seems so fun and easy for me!
+Kealey Conville Perfect way to get your feet wet!
I'm loving it! Can't wait to start. Thanks so much for sharing - this looks like fun. - Mimi
+kymdempsey I have to admit, I am super excited about this one!
Oh boy!!! I am loving this idea!! Are you able to share the prompt page?? Happy New Years my friend!! Always, Leslie
+Scrapn Life Away Happy New Year Leslie! You can download the prompt page here: drive.google.com/file/d/0Bxc70lzVoI5Qa2JjYUpyV000SEU/view?usp=sharing
What an absolutely delicious idea!!! Thank you SO much!
THanks for watching!
+Janet Pingrey Ha! I'm expecting 2016 to be a fabulously creative year!
What a wonderful idea. I don't have a collection yet because I'm a newbie but I will have fun going thru all my magazines. So I printed the sheet - am I able to switch out some of these categories to items that I really love - like owls, coffee, fairies ...etc? ~janet :)
+JBaum Oh absolutely! Switch them out, make your own, do whatever you want so that your journal is customized just for you.
Where do you come up
With such fun things? And you know I want to do this. But I have to have one of those travel books! Not like I don't already have a hundred projects to do! lol. Oh goody I have stamps and washers. This would be a good way to use up my junk! But oh my goodness another project!!
+Donna Harris (Southern Crafty Lady) LOL Believe me, I know the feeling! I have enough unfinished projects to keep me busy for an eternity but I just keep starting new ones! And yes, you have to have one of those travel books. You just have to. ;)
+Shannon Green I ordered my travel book and the Route 66 book too. It sounds interesting since I have traveled a little on Route 66 years ago!
I just love watching your videos!
+luciana justice Thank you Luciana! I sure do appreciate you taking the time to watch :)
Dang it I am going to do your magazine from magazines already and now I have to do this also !!!! This is funny because I live Oklahoma and when I first moved here that movie was playing every where.
So many ideas, so little time...right?
HMMM...What to use for this....I know my Wine Spectacular magazines...I am a subbie to them and they are the size of W magazine which I also get..I can glue a few of them together...I can't wait to get started.....and I love how you eventually get to the point....you talk to us not at us
+Angila Lanier Oh those magazines will be perfect!!
That is so cool. I am so doing this, will they send one of those book out of country..
+Shannon Green Thank you so much, and yes, you had it on your blog as well. I like it! Wow, it's a great list, how fun.
Shannon,i just went to get my free travel guides ,i'm getting some from oklahoma, andd new mexico. lol, thanks!
+Rose city crafter Woo hoo!!!
+Shannon Green Thank you Doll...I'm learning and trying to follow LOL. Thank you for sharing xo
That's really cool. I love this idea. 😃👍🏻🎉happy new year! 😃
+Phoebe Happy New Year to you too!
=) Thank you. =)
+Shannon Green Thanks so much for all the useful info. I will just have to get over my buckling page issues!!!!!!!
I think these are also called Smash Books or Smash Journals---the collection of magazine pics or similar paper. I mention this only because it's just another word to use for hunting info on RUclips. :-D
Thanks for watching!
OK I started on my Oklahoma junk journal today. Gesso on a few pages is as far as I've gotten but at least I'm started. Not counting the 7 other projects I'm working on. LOL One which is a journal I started in 2011 and I really want to finish this year!
+Donna Harris (Southern Crafty Lady) I like having lots of irons in the fire...when you get bored with one you just move to the next!
lol so true! Right now I'm working on my Glue Book. By the way I've been collections clocks and watches for a long time now. But after one of your videos I am now collecting perfume bottles. Ugg if I collect much more I may have to keep it in the car! lol
Adore your postage stamp page!
Thanks Jane!
Great idea to use up all that stuff we have amassed.
+Rocky Road Creations And have some fun in the process!
love finding a kindred spirit! Lol babble on its lovely
Thank you!
