It's taken me to get to age 57 and to watch some-one as great as you, to make me realise that I can do things just for FUN! I love watching you, you're such an inspiration. I'm new to all this and LOVING IT - thanks lady xx
Thanks for the flip-through. I've started my En Masse Journal and am loving it completely. I have a lot more categories!! Hello Kitty, Oregon, Chickens, Cameras, Houses, Garden Green, Mary Engelbriet. Love it!
Hey there. I really like your ideas. They're fresh and you are unique. Everyone is doing the same thing and it gets boring seeing several makers all doing the same theme or makes. Ive really enjoyed your painted papers and unusual books and magazines you assembled in other videos. 👌
Shannon thank you for taking the time to show us your process and progress. Your flip thru was needed to be seen. It just makes us know that we are doing it properly. I like the idea of going thru the magazines, making piles and then throwing it out. They can easily take over your house ! Will sit down and start going thru the magazines that I have collected from the library. Thanks again for the flip thru - looks good :)
+Shannon Green I have watched this video I can't tell you how many times. And every time you get to the page Tea Bags/Tea Tags and Tea Stuuuuuff I swear it makes me laugh each time. Love your talking Shannon :)
LOL as you are going through that magazine I'm thinking I could use the airplane it would fit in my en masse... or the beer lol yeah.... funny how our mind works! Love how your journal is going along!!
+Shannon Green Yep. I have a touch of that myself. lol but I've only worked on about 5 or 6 pages in mine. I've got about 3 others I'm ripping through though!! 😄
As a new subbie and after watching a more recent video I got myself a journal and have made a start. Then I found this one, but I notice, and I hope you don't mind me saying, that you haven't got a category for butterflies, so I thought I would mention it. Tfsx I'm off to find some more of your videos on this project. x
+Elizabeth Naisbitt I'm so excited you've made a start! My butterflies live on my "animals" page since I didn't foresee having enough to fill their own page. I can always add one later if that changes!
aaahhh that bird picture in the beginning-I want that! I always put animal heads on human bodies & that would have made a great picture. luv ur perfume bottle page.
This looks pretty interesting.. the no reason journal seems like trash to me if I can be honest but this has a purpose so its definitely something I want to try!! I love this! Thanks for sharing..
I'm sitting here drinking my hot mint tea and looking at a pile of mail I need to go through. I have my scissors handy so I can cut things from junk that I want to keep. I'm procrastinating though. I would rather watch you flip through this magazine. lol Who knew watching someone do that could be so fun and I learned stuff that was going on in other places too. lol Enjoyed the flip through. Thanks Shannon. :-)
+Laurie Richardson Haley It was kinda fun doing it too...I'm going to do more magazine flips until one of them calls me and asks me to stop sharing their magazine for free. Heh :)
Your journal looks great! Thank you for sharing! I am doing a MAJOR organizing of my craft room. I am soooo far behind on my journal and other projects. I do have lots cut out but I am behind on gluing! I can't wait to get back to it!
Such a sweet collection, missed page for Z. I think I love that you used our Oklahoma state tourism guide. What an awesome book they put out that year ive been looking for one but have never found one, yet.
I was in an antique store one day the owner was showing a customer a large scrapbook made in victorian times. All black n white images, it was exquisite and nope she would not sell it, said she paid a lot for it at a local estate auction. Ive been intrigued since with pasting down images in a collection type book. You beat me to actually doing it, but i have a load of cut out images!
I enjoyed this. It was interesting to see what you would keep, and the things I would have kept that you threw out.. but a lot to the things you did keep I would have too. =) Cool letter collection. =)
I had to giggle when I saw you carefully ripping away the step of glue after you'd ripped dine pages out..... I totally do that too and it's one of my favorite things to do..... I have no life apparently.... LolYvonne
+Shannon Green Omg..... those are the most fun to peel off... Lol. I'm also the one who loves to peel the glue strip off the back of the magazines they insert into larger magazines and then sit and play with it.....stretching it out as far as it will go and then release..... strrrretchh and release. yes, I'm a freak. 👍👍
I enjoyed listening to you decide how to pick out pictures to keep. You sound a lot like me trying to figure out what will work. I've got to glue my alphabet letters down and start posting some of the pages I have completed. This is so much fun but my dining table looks like a paper landfill! Lol
+MommytoMikeyjr My OCD starts nagging me every time I stick something down all wonky! I have to force that kind of thing because I am naturally very linear and orderly.
I love the "Oklahoma" book you are using. I went to the web site you mentioned and ordered the book and maps you said to order. However, what came was not what I wanted. Again, however, it has some fabulous pages in it and I am going to make it my collection book.
Oh No! You threw the two cute little owls away on that envelope. Didn't you hear me telling you to keep those?! Anyway I love the look of your scrap paper page. I'm not doing a collection journal but I may have to do that in one of my art journals.
Shannon, I love the tip about going through the magazine completely and tossing it. I just started getting cheap magazines from the library like 5/$1 Birds and Blooms and Nat Geo and already I am overwhelmed. I love all of the pictures and don't want to cut them so the pile grows. I did go through like you just did on one and it felt good to toss the rest so that is what I am going to do from now on. You did keep the Chernobyl theme park didn't you? Shannon, if you don't find some more yellow friends for that poor lonely one you'll have to move him to the blue page. : ( Thanks for the flip through. I have been working on mine with the Oklahoma guidebook but I think I am going to switch to something else. The pages are larger which will be great for something else but it's kind of hard to maneuver in my limited space....we'll see.
+Linda Rogers I don't have any videos planned but there are hundreds out there done by other people. Check here for some you might have missed: ruclips.net/p/PLEBktQ6jtRkmeCJoi9lK3JcfdpF83vYxG
+Becky Martin I painted some of the pages but not all of them. Probably not more than 20. But I didn't prep any of them, just slapped the paint right on the page.
I really think my brain is half analytical and half creative. I am attempting to let the creative side out more often. It seems to working since I do enjoy organising the hauls I make but I really am chomping at the bit to get creative. I also find myself working on many projects at the same time. So difficult in a small space.
+mysummertouch I subscribe to NatGeo, Texas Monthly and The Houstonian. Occasionally I'll pick up a fashion magazine when one catches my eye but that's not very often. I also keep an eye out for interesting mags at thrift stores since they're super cheap.
Several years ago when my father died my mother and I were left to clean out all of his detritus and ephemera. He had more than 50 years worth of National Geo's, scores of music, theater programs, etc etc. At the time I was working full time and didn't have the resources to go through everything to decide what to keep and what to throw. Now that I have started doing these wonderful journals I am just kicking myself for what all went to recycling. Boo Hoo
+Regina Read I've done the same thing, don't go there!! There was a reason you didn't keep it and maybe part of that reason is because there is something even more awesome on the way :)
+Stephanie Alexander I bought those a couple of years ago at The Container Store www.containerstore.com/s/office/office-accessories/tab-markers/12d?productId=10035129&ci_src={ifpla:17588969}{ifpe:27500988}&ci_sku=10057639&srccode=cii_17588969&cpncode=39-145490719-2&
totally love I collect things to repurpose on other projects, so I completely confused, what do you do with the collection journal? You glue things in..... is it just a pretty place to put pretty things .. is that the purpose? Tell me Shannon tell me. Lol.
+Crystal Kuffner There is a video on my channel called Journals For No Reason (I think) where I talk about how much I love my journals that have no purpose, no function, no reason for being other than the fact that they make me happy. Not only did I enjoy making them but I enjoy looking back through them which is something I seldom do with my other journals. So yes, for me it's mostly about the process of collecting and gluing down things that I love.
It is a 2015 travel guide from the state of Oklahoma. You can request one from them, it will look different from the one I used but there's lots of good pages and they send them out for free.
Even though this video is 5 years old, I found it very enjoyable to watch!! Thx you😉
It's taken me to get to age 57 and to watch some-one as great as you, to make me realise that I can do things just for FUN! I love watching you, you're such an inspiration. I'm new to all this and LOVING IT - thanks lady xx
+Kate Brammer I am SO happy to hear that!!
love seeing all the extra ideas from each person doing an En Masse, :)
+Michelle M at LadyBlueStudios Me too! I thought I had a pretty thorough category list until I started looking at everyone else's!
Thanks for the flip-through. I've started my En Masse Journal and am loving it completely. I have a lot more categories!! Hello Kitty, Oregon, Chickens, Cameras, Houses, Garden Green, Mary Engelbriet. Love it!
+Lorna Halnan Great categories!
Hey there. I really like your ideas. They're fresh and you are unique. Everyone is doing the same thing and it gets boring seeing several makers all doing the same theme or makes. Ive really enjoyed your painted papers and unusual books and magazines you assembled in other videos. 👌
I'm so happy you're enjoying my videos and I appreciate you taking the time to watch!
Oh my gosh!! You are making me look at things so differently than I'm used too! It's awesome!! Ty. Totally enjoyed this video and listening to you.
+SnkyChks I'm so glad, thank you!!

Shannon thank you for taking the time to show us your process and progress. Your flip thru was needed to be seen. It just makes us know that we are doing it properly. +JBaum You are so very welcome Janet! Yes those magazines can build up in no time!
+Crafting Vicky LOL I'm sure I tossed a lot of stuff that others would have kept and probably kept some things that others are asking why???
This was so much fun to watch. I love your sense of humor!
I sure do appreciate you taking the time to watch!
LOL......HE'S GOT EYEBALLS!!! 😂😂😂 Love you Shannon!
Thanks for watching!

I would love to see you do a surreal type journal page. You have such neat fodder! Bring it on Dali! This is my challenge. Please Shannon?!
I'll definitely have to give that one some thought!
This again is so often. I love it!

+Beverly Stout Toss those suckers out, they have served their purpose! ;)
Love it! I laughed when i noticed the spacing on the pages and then the one cluster. What the "L"...snicker great journal!!!!
+Frankie B LOL Shakin' it up a little!

+Darlene Ferree Thanks Darlene!
+Shannon Green after watching this I have started tearing through my magazines-its time to condense!!
This looks pretty interesting.. the no reason journal seems like trash to me if I can be honest but this has a purpose so its definitely something I want to try!! I love this! Thanks for sharing..
Thanks for watching!

I enjoyed listening to you decide how to pick out pictures to keep. You sound a lot like me trying to figure out what will work. I've got to glue my alphabet letters down and start posting some of the pages I have completed. This is so much fun but my dining table looks like a paper landfill! Lol
+Lynne Hughes LOL I hear ya!
That was fun, I was hoping you would post one of these. =)
+Linda DeChow It was fun to do, I'll be posting more!
Great update! It's funny to see how your letters are arranged every witch way but mine have to be straight up and down. My OCD is showing!

+Debbie Woten Well dang it, I didn't hear you! Thanks for watching :)

+Lottie Faith LOL Poor yellow! Magazines are one of those things that can get out of hand fast.
Shannon do you have a video on how you make the tabs for this journal or do you purchase tabs?
Those were purchased tabs that I got years ago at The Container Store.
Shannon are you going to do the 5by5s again...... please!
+Linda Rogers I don't have any videos planned but there are hundreds out there done by other people. Check here for some you might have missed: ruclips.net/p/PLEBktQ6jtRkmeCJoi9lK3JcfdpF83vYxG
Great journal, really want to do this! Thanks for the inspiration. You prepped and painted the pages first? Tia :)
+Becky Martin I painted some of the pages but not all of them. Probably not more than 20. But I didn't prep any of them, just slapped the paint right on the page.

where do you get all of your magazines? I'd love to have national geographic magazines!!!
+mysummertouch I subscribe to NatGeo, Texas Monthly and The Houstonian. Occasionally I'll pick up a fashion magazine when one catches my eye but that's not very often. I also keep an eye out for interesting mags at thrift stores since they're super cheap.
Where do you start with these junk journals, how do you set them up? Hugs Linda
You can start by just buying an inexpensive blank journal. There are no "instructions" for junk journaling, the point is to do what makes you happy!
Several years ago when my father died my mother and I were left to clean out all of his detritus and ephemera. It is a 2015 travel guide from the state of Oklahoma. You can request one from them, it will look different from the one I used but there's lots of good pages and they send them out for free.
because of youbi have journals on cutouts!!!!
+mysummertouch Woo hoo!!! That makes me happy!
Do you ever look at a page later and asked yourself why did I keep this page?
I have a lot of those "what was I thinking?" moments!
you could write some awesome ransom notes with all those letters
just sayin
+Super Beth I am totally prepared for a kidnapping.
one should always be prepared for a kidnapping. Ive seen in the movies that it can be quite lucrative.
oooo and you didnt use Citrasolv on the National Geo lol
+Erinne Kennedy-Dock Ha! I spared it!
ok i starting to get a little scared i am only 4 minutes in and i am choosing exactly the same pages and items before you even speak
+madhatters crafts Creepy! LOL
Do you ever look at a page later and asked yourself why did I keep this page?
