Seriously, whose idea was it to feed Mike Red Bull?!
Right? Like giving a hyperactive kid a candy bar.
He may try and take over the World if he keeps drinking that stuff.
Then he’ll have us all working 20 hours a day like he does. We may be better off, but I think let’s stick with what we have now.
Great Achievement Team Patey and Red Bull.
Lol, only positive things will happen.
Let’s get back to work
@@seabulls69you mean giving an over active kid a re-bull and a candy bar.😊😊😊😊
Mike on Red Bull, I can’t even imagine how much “ work “ gets done! LOL
I’m so upset the tube has hidden this video and two similar ones from me. How are these not getting thousands and millions of views?!
I follow this channel and I have to search for them. It’s a RUclips thing for sure.
Because Red Bull taste like crap. It’s very unhealthy for you.
Same for me too.
According to my RUclips it was released 6 hours ago but your comment is 8 days old😢
Oddly, I just realized I'm no longer subscribed to Mike, maybe a factor for you too.
I was not expecting it do a knife edge like that.
What a plane and what a pilot.
Great job on this one.
I can’t wait to see when he lands it on his pool deck . 😂
Mike, you really don’t need to drink Red Bull! 😜
Awesome!
What an inspiration to all of us to achieve greatness.
Thank you, Mike.
God I love the passion in this. "Do you want to fly it?" was probably a silly question when you've modified it to almost fly vertical tho 😅 You're living proof that 'back to work!' pays off, you earn your success and that's part of why watching you succeed at everything is so satisfying 🤗
AWESOME! Mike is out of this world
Man, I've never seen Mike so jacked! So awesome
I knew you were involved on this proyect, nice!
Do you think that Steve Henry could pull this off with his current set-up?
It’s really nice to have a lot of money. You can do a lot of things. Wow
Love this video. The music is awesome! Can’t wait to see more! Back to work!
Watching Luke control the Red Bull plane is really something. I think Red Bull definitely chose the right guy in Mike Patey to do what was needed to make this Dubai helopad landing. Always look forward to Mike’s next posting.👍👍🇨🇦
Agree 👍🏼
Luke is a madman ;-)
@@mntbighker 😄
The little cub that could😍
Mike, you fell short, the Carbon Cub did NOT drag the pick-up truck like Scrappy did, but it does takeoff like a helicopter!
Mike, with all the customization done for the special landing, could you replace the air in the tires with helium? Just for the attempt? I suspect helium filled tires would loose pressure over time, because the molecules are so small they can fit through the rubber, like they do latex balloons. But how much weight would be saved if it was done for the helipad landing? Would it help the moment of inertia spinning up the tires at all?
It's in the single-digit gram range. You'd be better off just rubbing the tires with sandpaper.
The volume in the tires is pretty small, and by the time you pump enough in to get the tires up to pressure you loose most of the “lift” from the helium.
@@NBSV1 Difference is about 1 gram/liter.
I thought i had seen it all with you, Mike… But now … Nitrous ???
You’re just the hit parade. It makes my day. I feel like i am watching an A-10 low-and-slow.
There was nitrous in scrappy. 150 HP. But he opted for twin turbos
@@ChiefKICI It’s like when i saw a super tanker for the first time.
I realized i just don’t think as big as some people…
@@ChiefKICI Then he pulled the piston engine and started installing a 1000 Hp turbine instead.
@@AllanFolm I wish. I have a feeling scrappy is staying a 8 cylinder with a twin turbo set up. Draco X is the one we need to see with 1000hp turbine
@@ChiefKICI One of his Scrappy videos, he shows how he removed the engine and cut up the engine mounts, so it's defintly off.
Great engineering, build and piloting. Thanks for sharing!
One heck of an awesome project Mike. Red Bull carbon cub race series up next?
What an incredible pilot! Great build Mike and I love you, but man that dude has skills.
That Red Bull Carbon Cub flies like an R/C Carbon Cub S 2, it's so nimble and manuverable I like it a lot!
I absolutely miss Draco. I'm so happy that Mike is always wearing a Draco shirt, hinting at what's to come.
Love the old school filter @9:55
Amazing!
I've been wondering what engine was in this. But there's proof. It says "carbon cub UL" in the leading edge. It's the new Rotax 916!
Very Awesome Mike!
It's a Lycoming clone not a Rotax you can tell by the sound. Also according to the FAA register it's a CC340. Mike even said it's normally aspirated and the 916 is turbocharged.
Just came to say I've been anxiously waiting for another b house build update. What you are doing is amazing.. The detail. The over-engineering. Awesome.
Planes are cool too lol
What an awesome day of testing. I bet everyone there had a blast seeing the plane in action!
Damn that guy can fly
How cool getting to see all the behind the scenes videos. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Wooooohooooo this was cool.
Your son did a beautiful job on the wrap!
I cant believe you built that.....well, maybe I can....very impressive!!
Love this series. Love that we already know it’s successful! Great paced series too.
I think that can of Red Bull gave Mike an extra 100 horse power 😂 Awesome work mate…back to work! 👍🏼😄
Nearly VTOL, amazing lol
9:57 that's an impressively short takeoff
looks to be about twice the length of the plane. nuts
Mike designs really amazing upgrades and Luke put it to the test. That's some amazing flying right to the edge of the envelope Luke.
It just a walk in the park for Mike and his team the A team. And Sandra the quality spectra👌👍
Another amazing video about an amazing airplane grid but an amazing engineer. Great job!
So, when does he get to compete in a STOL drag race?
You are going to have lots of people wanting the mod parts for this one
Good morning from Minnesota! Great episode! Incredible performance!
Holy unusual attitudes, Batman!!!!!! I've never seen anyone wag a plane's tail like that!!!! Critically low airspeed, right on the deck, and the tail's swinging 30 degrees off center??? Unbelievable.
Saw the red bull builds in my feed recently, just haven't clicked sorry. Miss the old days with the draco builds
I can only imagine what a Patey hopped up on Red Bull is capable of. Man probably built three other planes and two more houses after a few cans.
Love it!
That is an awesome little plane! Thanks for sharing this build!
Can't wait to see this thing STOL Drag!
thanks Mike
That rudder authority is wicked!
Absolutely mind blowing Mike. I don’t remember hearing the gross weight of the plane but it sounds like it could possibly be a 1:1 trust to weight ratio?
Awesome job Mike! Again😂💪🏼💪🏼
Amazing. Beautiful Job Mike and Luke. I was thinking of how a camera drone could deploy from the cub and film circles around a pilot for videography and shots not attainable in any other way. Anyway, not like you don't have a lot on your engineered plate. Your logo on the little beast is awesome as well. Great health to you and yours.
😉👍 Team Red Bull Still Killing It!
Still remember my 1st Red Bull jaw dropper aerial experience, meeting Chuck Aaron after his awesome insane show in his Red Bull Helicopter... 🙃 🚁 @ Quad City Air Show 2012.
I can't imagine if Mike actually Drank a Red Bull what would happen.
A black hole of energy would appear.
I truly wish you would finish/start Draco X, Landing on a helo pad was cool but more of a stunt, I would love to see another aircraft that you can actually fly places like Draco
What is the need prop pitch?😮
Looking good, guys!
My man!
Looks like a lotta fun, and of course Mike did amazing work as always! I would also love to know how the Red Bull skin was done?
Mike's son did it. It's in another video.
@@timburke127 thanks for the information, and I’m wondering where I can find that video?
Sorry I can’t like your video, but I cracked my phone screen.
@@Russellsperry It's on Mike's channel.
@@timburke127 thanks
hey Mike... a saudi arabia follower .. I can't wait
Nicely done! I'll have a monster to celebrate
Love your videos and enthusiasm but if I could ask a favor? How about running the music sound level the same as the voice level?
I really hope I get to meet Mike one day at a fly in.. he is someone I hugely respect and just would love to get to chat with and ask a few questions.
For those pilots who don't know this: An aft CG will give you a lower stall speed compared to a forward cg... and an aft CG will give you a higher crouse speed as well. Blue Sky's.
I hope @HorizonHobby makes an RC version of that Red Bull airplane, complete with scale helipad landing mat….🤘🤣
Fully licensed by @CubCrafters….😮🙏
With a UMX version, as well…🤩🥳.
I like to learn about earoplane engines. As a marine engineer we had problems with g forces. Personally i think less than airplaines. We had booster pump supply.
Still we got low pressure alarms and even shut down.
Awesome!
Beautiful! How much weight did the wrap add though?
"So let's go play with smoke and nitrous!" I wish somebody said that to me
My thought was... hopefully it happens in that order 😬😅
@@j.g.92 oof, didn't even think of that :D
Edit: On second thought both could be understood as doing drugs too lol
This airplane needs its own time slot at EAA Air Venture 2023!
Spectacular!
Another great & fun video.
This thing takes off almost like drako
Hope there is a vid of disassembly and assemble
Can use flap and flaperon?
That take off reminded me of a Draco take off.
Amazing , I love it. 👌
What is hp to weight ratio now.
Heck yeah!!
I spy a new prop on Scrappy!
How much weight have you removed from the plane
% wise and in kg
I wanna hear the specifics about the amount of weight too.
You might get it in pounds. ;-)
I think it was a little less than 100lbs in the end. Pretty good bit when starting with something already light.
Ultimately, I think shifting the center of gravity back and down was a bigger deal.
@@TesserId i believe that he knows the change of momentum, I'd like to know that
Please tell me you guys are coming to Valdez this year!!! Love to see you again.
I would like the know the dollar amount spend on the upgrades.
Did that oil make a mess of your truck?
You should have gotten scrappy out and shown the little guy what 200 hp of nitrous looks like. Scrappy could probably make that landing loaded with his bikes. 😂
Scrappy doesn't have nitrous anymore. It was switched to a twin turbo.
@@kevin_6217 must have missed the changeover. I’ll go back and search. My point was how ridiculously overpowered it is plus the slats with a stall speed or what 30 knots? Heh.
That WigWag landing was Shades of Bob Hoover 😅
8:17 Yeah that's what old low energy Patey needs some Red Bull. Whatever happened to drink responsibly.
Cool but what’s happening with Draco X ?
What prop did you use?
They talk about the custom prop a couple vids back. For this build, it's longer than stock, with a shallower blade angle (if I remember correctly). It's optimized to get the most out of flying and climbing at full throttle with the nitrous. One would assume it's not optimized for saving fuel at cruising speeds over long distances.
@@TesserId Yep they did not fly it from Utah to Dubaï !
Been watching your videos. You make all that design , engineering , look so easy. But I know is not that easy Hope many young people look at your videos and get interested. We need new generation get involved in this. Also hope China don’t steal your ideas ...
Would hate to think what the wind chill is in that slipstream!
Mike, Love your videos!!!!!!
Was a prop like Scrappy has considered, would it have worked ?
Good grief. Never thought I'd see a carbon cub that behaved more like a Porsche. That thing flies like it's on RAILS! Epic.
When can we expect some ripsaw modification content?
WOW
Brilliant b
Have you ever considered developing a toroidal prop for aviation?
