It's so much fun seeing the absolute JOY in your eyes as you hear how everything you worked your tail off has fallen into place PERFECTLY. It's one thing to hear "it's physics, it's math it's engineering" but it's a whole different thing to see it all transfer from a computer to real life.
Love seeing every step in what made the Dubai landing possible. Thanks for the excellent video. It's history being made. Great job Mike!
Absolutely mind blowing Mike, an even bigger feat was how you managed to keep quiet about it until the event:-)
Congratulations Mike and team! This work with Red Bull was a huge milestone for you guys! And so friggin cool👍You guys rock!
🤘😎🤘
I just saw you at the Freedom Factory this past weekend. I saw you from a distance and didn’t see you again but was hoping to at least maybe stutter out a “hi” to you at some point. 😂
You’re an absolute inspiration to myself and my father and it was cool just to know you were there. Back to work, brother!
Another amazing feat by,,,,, Mike Patey & his team!! Congratulations !
another stupid move by mike patey, just stupid!
Thank you for doing this, It's great fun to watch, and also inspiring to get back to work!
I used to fly horses from Los Angeles to Malaysia. Up to 12 horses in a shipment on 747, it was pretty interesting to see the things that were air freighted to Korea and Malaysia from the US West coast. Get to ride up in the cockpit on those freighters!
What was your job title brother. Actually im trying to crack into logistics world.
Yay, thanks for another great update Mike.
Alternate Clickbait title: "We flew a Cub from the US to Dubai."
Non-stop
Technically correct is the best kind of correct! 👍
@Owen Sparks Spoken like a true NSF tank watcher 🤔😎
@@citizenblue !Indeed
...And we did it overnight!!!
This has been one of the best series of videos that you folks have done in a while and great fun to watch. There always seems to be lots more to doing something like that than most of us could imagine. Thanks for sharing.
Love it, love seeing your reactions to seeing all your hard work start to come to fruition. Thanks so much for taking us on the journey too Mike!
Good morning from Minnesota! Great episode!
I just cant get enough of your content Mike!!! Back to work!
My dad used to sell farm equipment to Russia. I remember one time they had to send combines to Russia in time for harvest. They loaded 4 John Deere combines into an Antonov cargo plane and flew them to the client. One combine weighs around 40,000 lbs.
Rip Mriya.
Really hope that they are going to rebuild the AN-225.
@@samuraidriver4x4 While I am with you, it could have been Antonov 124.
@@steilkurbler4973 I don't remember which one of the two it was.
Well I hope they never get that kind of service again since they're the ones that destroyed the plane. I hope their harvests fail and they starve.
@@gatekeeper65 Bit rough to blame the Russian people for Putin's war.
Maybe this has already been answered but I’m curious what Scrappy’s take off and landing performance would be under the same conditions that the Red Bull Carbon Cub was modified to deal with (600 foot altitude and minimal wind).
I had the privilege to see Luke and that amazing plane during the demo with the GCAA! One day to remember for sure.
OK, like many other, we have seen the landing but will watch it a bunch more times. Great job guys!!!
Pretty awesome how this all came together; lot's of people; crazy logistics, amazing places!
CONGRATULATIONS !!! Mike, just a Question about Draco X. Are you going to incorporate the Scrappy Wing mods to Draco X?
Wow! That's dope! A STOL aircraft on the primo parking spot of the pennical of Hotels. That's so awesome you had a hand in it! Can't wait to see your next video in Dubai!
Looking forward to seeing the rest of this come together. Very interesting mission that hopefully generates more interest in GA. Now back to work!
Great video ! Exciting to hear you tell this story. Waiting for the next one !
If you shipped it via CargoLux...It would have been really cool if RUclipsr Captain Joe (FO for CargoLux) was the one who got to fly it to Dubai... Would have been EPIC to see so many aviation related YT'rs evolved in this...
I’m a loadmaster for Cargolux . Happy to be part of your project . You name it, we fly it
Nice map of the airport expansion! @8:13
Ummm... Scrappy has a "Twin Turbo" decal on him. Can't wait for THAT story.
I wonder if Cubcrafters will market a "Patey" version like Ford did with the Shelby Mustang?
The new UL with the Rotax is interesting- similar lightening strategy, though less standard and peak pier, though more consistent power at altitude.
Nice plan on the background 😮
Brad “When can you get to Dubai Mike?”
Mike “I’m busy building a concrete dive tank at home, but I can be there Friday”
In the next video I want all the gory details of setting up for the event, including 1) every single camera on the plane (18 right?), 2) the installation of the smooth plates on the outer rim and any problems caused by touching down on them, 3) how the freak you got the job as ground control, 4) all of the technical gear you set up on the pad beyond the wind sock and weather station that were already there. And congratulations again!
I’m still waiting for when they land it on his pool deck video . LoL 😂
Holy, talk about the pressure on Luke with those defining take-off and landings.
At work now. Can’t wait to watch this tonight. Back to work!
Amazing to see how good Red Bull is at organizing the logistics of events like this! International anything is just a dense land mine of obscure paperwork and catch 22's.
They have such a great team.
thanks Mike
I was wondering how much that cost to air freight something that big.
This guy think money will save his life
Mike, this is almost an unbelievable achievement. I don't think there's anyone else in the world that could've pulled this off. Congratulations! What an honor ...
Madness… pure madness. I love it
Do i see plans for a new Patey airport or just hangars?
thank you
"I haven't been sleeping well at night" - Mike Patey, the man who only needs 2 to 3 hours of sleep PER NIGHT!!!!
Yeah, I didn't think Mike had time to sleep!
Hey Mike, do you think you would be able to land Drago or Scrapy on that helipad if you would have a chance?
It got shipped with Red Bull money $$$$$ that’s how it made it with no damage
HA! You Fedex'ed an airplane on another airplane, super cool series thanks!
Are there any models of the winds in, on and around the building? I think it would high light, by visualization, the challenges faced in this endeavor.
Stay tuned 🤠
I wanna see you build and use a air - air refueling system.
Almost expected to see a bunch of little mini carbon cubs pop out 😝 giggity
Your RUclips handle is so great! 😂 And yes, only thing better than one baby Cub is more than one!!
Thanks!! Although I’m not sure which one you can see because RUclips is being weird these days lol it was you’re* but now shows @laska907 for me
@@moretrash4you That’s so weird. It’s you’re* 😆
Good to know, thanks! 😝
Steve Henry said hold my beer.
That's impressive a full-blown airplane shipped next day air made it in one day yet I can't even get a package from Amazon on time pay for next day air comes 4 days later lol
How much weight was reduced when all was said and done?
It's all blue screen, anyone can tell! :) hhah g9od job bruz
Merci
Nice prop on Scrappy!
Just another really interesting video. Just incredible engineering. Made look simple.
Headline with photo of the offload: 'Boeing 747 gives birth to Carbon Cub.' Easy birth, no forceps necessary. Mother and child resting comfortably.
You should modify a AN-2 for a family bush plane. Would love to see you improve a great aircraft
@2:47 Eric Stoothoff!
I really wanted to know how you got it there!
Awesome!!
Are the prints on kitchen bench house renderings or NEW HANGER!!!!?????? haha
We’re building a new FBO with hangars at our field 🎉
I see building layouts in the background.
Hey Mike, any chance that you’re going to start a new build serious soon?
Yes, there’s a chance 😁
For your viewers information that are pilots...an aft CG will stall at a lower speed, than a forward CG!!! In my old Cessna 182 the speed difference is two knots lower in an aft CG. Blue Sky's.
America needs to have a foreign workers program like the UAE has in Duba,i UAE. Workers can live in the UAE as long as they are working. If they become unemployed then the must leave the country. I found this out from a taxi driver who was taking us from Dubia to Abu Dhabi.
I really appreciated the people over there and the fact that every contributes. Everyone is given the opportunity to work. It makes people appreciative and respectful of their city.
So this is technically the fastest a Cub has ever flown. 🤓🤣
Lo mejor de lo mejor es la bicicleta, eléctrica, que lleva colgada en el ala. Supongo que otra en el otro ala, claro.
Would have been sweet if @Captain Joe was piloting the 47 to Dubai 😀
You know it’s crazy as we already know the results of this amazing stunt. But I can’t imagine your mind while after the build was done and you just had to watch and hope. I bet the night it was over was the best sleep you had in a while
How’s your home coming
super cool
Love it.
Was it Cargolux that shipped the cub, or was that image just for reference? I maintain aircraft for Kalitta Air, and we flew several missions to Dubai recently (just prior to this event), and was curious.
l have all ready seen the landing on the hotel in Dubai....But thanks Mike.....
Shoe🇺🇸
Wow! What was the freight cost? More than the airplane!?😆
So now we have a 600 mph Carbon Cub!
See what a little nitrous and a red bull will do, and at 40,000 feet no less!
Livin' the dream..
Unreal
An airport with Astroturf--now I've heard of everything.
Build a: Helio, Helio, Helio!
Ok Mike, the Dubai Carbon Cub thing was, yes yet again, brilliant! You are phenomenal!! However, (there it is) I double dog, NO, triple dog dare you to build an aircraft engine from the 1700cc Yamaha V-Max motorcycle engine, (twin turbo) with a carbon - Kevlar composite, variable pitch TOROIDAL propeller!!! You, “love” staying up late thinking of engineering and math… let’s see… impossible? Message me when you can’t overcome the triplex variable! 😎 Love your channel bro!
We got the landing but can we pleeeeeease get the take off?
Mike is so talented I’m wondering if he’s ever had a failure?
Doesn't get much better than being allowed to witness genius at work, particularly when such daunting challenges are dwarfed by the enthusiasm of the designer, engineer, fabricator, assembler, test pilot and You Tube host, Mike Patey.
Thanks, Mike!
Watched it completed. Amazing then, still amazing now. The Devil is in the Details! Would be interesting to see the $$$ Red Bull put into this.
I think 5:10 is the ONLY time I've ever seen Mike nervous in the slightest lol Amazing job as always. 💪
😂🤠
Aviation aviation aviation🛩
Mike, have you checked the history of that tail number on the Redbull cub?
Back to work!!
Mike! What do you think about that toroidal prop that people are talking about?
I want to know what it cost to next day air ship that air plane there.
Yo dawg, I heard you like airplanes. So we put an airplane in your airplane!
We Need a update on Draco last one was 2 years ago
This isn’t a standard airplane… it’s physics, math, and engineering..
Steve Henry's airplane or the Chinook could have done this stock. Just add the wrap and Go.
What the dinner like there 😋👍
How much did that overnight shipment cost...?????
I flew a piece of oilfield equipment from Germany to Anchorage (about the same size as a 20’ shipping container but likely weighed quite a lot more that that cub). Total bill was a tick over $80k so maybe less than you think. Also remember how deep Red Bull’s pockets are.
I'm confident Mike could have made that landing and takeoff.
Don't get me wrong I am enjoying the Red Bull / Dubai videos, but . . .
When do we get see the Scrappy army men paratroopers? I have been waiting for that since the day you showed us the idea and made the release door.
I gotta get back to work now
And I complain about shipping costs from the US to Canada.
I can't IMAGINE what the bill would be for that!
Join the U.S. Navy Mike... you'll get to travel to Dubai for FREE!!! 🙂
