I'm glad I didn't win the trackhawk, as a Jacksonville native it probably would've gotten stolen in a week
I also live in Jacksonville. And savanna ain’t no better
Rigged anyways 😂
Fun Fact: The pale community steals the most PER CAPITA. And you can find those FACTS, and not your racism on FBI.GOV@ErikHyndmanto
@@stevenallen4123lol keep telling yourself that kiddo
Yeah but think of how much fun you would've had trolling people on JCM with it.
Lmfao George 5:53 “ you should let me port the heads on it “ you can tell he really did alot of that at faster proms 🤣🤣🤣 he sounded too exited
Id let him port my heads hahaha
i've always been surprised he hasn't ported some of Cleeter's heads yet. Leroy could be consistent 6s.
@@tippyc2the mast heads on Leeroy are cnc ported and cost over $10k. George was improving factory heads
@@natec599 I would love to see them do a budget build, like what ruby was from the beginning, but with more focus on the actual build. Like an hour of George talking porting, an hour of James rebuilding the stock gearbox etc. Preferably on a cheap chassis they don't normally use.
@@MrJamesBanana agree
Nice! JP is the nicest person there is. Good to see both of you linking up. BTW it flies great 😂.
Congrats to such a cool deserving person of the Track Hawk. Thank you for your service!
Surprised Cleetus hasn't run across one of these before. Doing a LS in a plane has been a thing for years, can go mild to wild.
yeah, most of the kit p51 mustangs have an ls in them. Gives them a great sound.
How do they keep from torqueing over?
conservative turbo setup for power and altitude would be good
@@scottcol23that sounds reasonable because p51 was my first thought with that awesome sound.
I can't believe that the whole crew there 🐔 chickenfooted out of taking a ride in the LS plane!😲😮!!!
The guys been flying it for years and hasn't crashed, so you know it's safe to boot!
Cool that one of fellow veteran brethren won the contest!👍💯! I know he would've gone up in that plane if given the chance!👍 No doubt!
Thanks again guys
With the potential G-forces and various pitch angles other than straight and level, I'd recommend a dry sump setup... yesterday! James has a great suggestion of an RV cam, but as it is, it sounds amazing.
yeah I dont really do anything other than 1g maneuvers. I do pulll up to 4 vertical G's on rare occasion. I watch and data log my oil pressure religiously and have not had any signs of any issues yet. I definitally want to dry sump it when I can.
Obviously clued in on flying and the issues with a car engine swap. Good effort mate, stay safe.
@@ultimajp just ask cleetus to help you out, he probably has an old one lying around in the shop and would be happy to donate.
That plane is literally the most McFarland Aviation thing I could imagine! Hint hint.
The airstrip before we knew it was his airstrip. U lil sneaky pete!
I came here just to look for this comment!
George has the best laugh. I'm so glad that guy is around
What was George worried about? The Cameraman never dies.
😂
This shall forever be known as the video where George was speechless.
@@ronjones-6977 Jokes aside, I can't blame him 😅
@@iNegroTv Ya, flying in an experimental plane is already sketchy. But flying with someone you just met in one is just a big fat NOPE.
Wow! The LS has found it's way into aviation! That's saying a lot!!
My favorite part of this video was Jackstand and George obsessed with the 2003 year. They've just never owned an engine for that long without blowing it up
That sounded so cool! The LS roaring and then right as it past you hear the prop too. Freaking sweet!
It is such a cool sound. I wish I could hear it from the ground more often.
@ultimajp it sounds like 2/3 of a Merlin..!
😍👍🏻..!
@@TheIndyspacethat is exactly what I thought. Sounds like a mini WW2 warbird.
The mix of LS + propeller sounds so cool.
George has gotten so used to filming planes, it almost never leaves the shot. 😂 this thing is awesome... with KSR Kevin's 8-1 from the Lexus, it would sound so immaculate
did you mean 8.1
@sombrero4316 no he made an eight into one collector for the Lexus
@@NovaRedHead oh gotcha
That plane sounds so cool! The sound of the LS and the propellers is crazy!
There is an LS powered Cozy 4 place Canard plane out there too. It has a rev limiter which keeps it from over-speeding the propeller. This is very cool!
That's a Rutan designed Velocity! Incredible fast plane!
THATS SOME GRADE A ENTERTAINMENT RIGHT THERE. Cable TV could never
I'm glad you guys passed on the ride... The fly-bys were more than enough... Friggin cool plane!
Thank you haha. Would still have been fun to take them 3G's
@@ultimajp, where are you set up..? What's the facility code..? 😉
Had to play that video through my stereo system to better hear the roar of the engine as it flew by. Really cool hearing the engine roar combined with the sound of the props.
Thank you!
I went and switched from my bone conduction headset to my over ear cans after the first pass 😂
Wild seeing my boy win. After a decade of friendship it’s awesome seeing him get such a cool win in life🤙
That’s the coolest thing I’ve seen in a while, the sound of that airplane was insane
Sounded like a p-51 during the flyby. Curious to see how the radiator was mounted and hoses routed.
10:14 hilarious these guys blown up so many LS’s they want to avoid being in the air with an LS lol
Think it was more the fact that they already knew that it was having issues
Ol Cleet could break an anvil using nothing but cotton balls. The boy is hard on stuff
Exactly they know if something goes wrong ur going down they're super pumped to see an ls swapped plane but it's also like looking at ur possible tombstone too its a dream until something goes wrong I actually thought they were all smart to not go for a ride even though they wanted to so bad especially cleetus
Being worried a wing is going to fall off isn’t the same as worrying if the engine is reliable.
Once that guy finishes up with the army he is the new mechanic for McFarland aviation bonus you guys get to drive the trackback again lol
FYI: Toyota’s ancient yet reliable dinosaur 4.7L V8 is approved to be used in small aircraft per the FAA.
1UZ-FE
Congratulations Trevor. Glad its going to a brother in arms.
Anyone else get a bit antsy on that first takeoff roll as he rocketed toward those power lines? 😱
God, how you tubers love to hear themselves talk!
I think giving away a spot to race a crown Vic in a race would be pretty cool. Or like a VIP trip to the freedom factory where you get to go for a ride in the cars and maybe rip one of them, the VIP experience would have to come with a helicopter ride over the freedom factory as well
Cleet, your whole crew is top-notch. When Zach goes into work mode, it’s more like beast mode, same with Ty. Sam is the final piece of the puzzle. You guys mesh perfectly.
The mixture of that V8 in the airplane sound is incredible
Hey Clete, you ever heard of Ryan Falconer racing engines? he builds custom engines for aviation and automotive. His engines are like works of art.
Is he on YT?
Falconer V12's in the thunder mustangs
@@itchy108 That sounds amazeballs
Love it! Trevor thank you for your service glad you won it.
This guy needs to do a flyover at Road America in Wisconsin for the vintage race weekend. It would be so cool.
And just like that, Cletus and Jackstand have reverted back to their LS ways
We have had a LS powered Tow Plane for Gliders in Benalla ,Australia for many years now. Sounds awesome flying our workshop.
There's one here in WA as well. Keen to see what the installation is like.
How's the reliability
Heck, you guys have 351C's powering your air compressors. Ain't foolin nobody....
@@kramnull8962 I've seen 302\351W powering air compressors here in the states - just half the cylinders firing :)
@@BLKMGK4 They blew those cylinders off while spark knocking to 30mph.
Congratulations to the winner! It must have been crazy trying to get the CG right in that plane.
Cleetus looking at the hood on that plane trying to figure out where to cut holes for the turbos 😂
It needs zoomy style headers coming out the side, like a V8 P51 Mustang type of look.
@@ryanlamfers8692 except those were Rolls - Royce V12'S. Which is arguably much cooler!
Cleetus, "We don't need no cowling!"
@@drewp25831yes that's much cooler, but this would be a much scaled down version of it. I just think it'd be neat as shit.
That's awesome, I could see George getting one and just sitting in the driveway just revving it up all day like tommy Chong does with the Harley in the house
I would have liked to see the cooling system on that aircraft. He had it concealed well. Cletus, don't even think about flying an airplane.
The engine sound mixed with the prop sound is crazy
One of my favorite sounds
Those guys to the "LS swap the world" to a whole new level!!!!
Heck yeah man. !!!
Watching that LS plane fire up I was grinning like a kid at Christmas! That is awesome!
You have awesome people on your channel and the same goes with you and your fans. Good attracts good, keep up the outstanding work on your channel. Go Army!!!!!!
Ruby must be locked in the basement like a red headed step child for the past year..... WE WANT RUBY ( especially with an SML) IN THE 6'S!!!!
The cars reached its peak. He made a video about it a few months back. He said he doesn't feel like chopping ruby up and 4 linking the rear and tube front end. So the car sits...
These comments crack me up y'all do realize he doesn't need a 80+k billet block to go 6's right? even cleetus knows that hence why they went with Pete for Leroy he could build multiple motors and have spares for the cost of a single SML it's just not feasible for what he wants to do with the car
@@DigBick91chassis getting some love and the new motor should be there soon he said
@@kick_then_shiftit's new motor is almost there he said lol month or so out it's getting some love
SML are overpriced junk
This is literally the most bad ass lil plane I’ve ever seen. 😂😂😂sounds so damn good man! She rips
Thank you so much!!!
You all have to show out for our boy serving!. Freaking awesome brother, Congrats and thank you for your service!.
Dude that plane is absolutely insane.. it's the legit corvette of the skies.
That's the bald eagle airfield!
That is so funny to see someone essentially revving an airplane lol
Sounds freakin awesome!
Given the opportunity, I would seriously consider doing a build with Mike Patey. I'm confident he has the engineering knowledge to design and build something spectacular! Just sayin. Great video, that aircraft is badass!
thank you !! I am a huge Patey fan as well
“Throw a supercharger on it” and it would be a mini p51 damn near sounds like it! Once in a life time sound experience there!
Am I the only one who was hearing the “we’re totally doing this” in Cleet’s voice?? lol they got more hyped every pass the dude made. Give it…6 months? 6 months to a year and Cleet’s gonna have a second plan with an LS
That was amazing to see an aircraft I built 20 years ago still flying and you aired that in my birthday.!! Just FYI that wasn’t a swap.. my partner and I designed and built that with the LS from scratch.. no swap!! lol thanks again for the content!!
Glad to see you in the comments!! Can't wait to bring the plane out to you. She still needs a lot of work but getting her back to her glory days is such an adventure
Since you were the original builder, where did the empty weight come in at? 1300-1400 lbs?
That’s one sick build! What’s the fuel burn gph leaned at say 10k’? Also is that on an RV-7 airframe?
@@andymike6575 don't have those numbers yet but yes it's on an rv7A
@@andymike6575 yes RV-7A. When we first built it.. the RPM was a little different and it ranged from about 8gpm an hour on climb out and 12-13gpm at cruise pretty consistent. Not quite sure what Johnathan is getting on it with the changes he has made though
Cletus! The LS in the air won me over AND made me a new subscriber!!! You have got to be kidding me😊 I would like to suggest a turbo ' Busa in something tiny and little
Always fun watching Cleetus fall in love.
If the Army doesn’t get you a PR flight, there is something terribly wrong. I lined up my reenlistment ceremony to be taking a Chinook from Oahu to the Big Island, landing at PTA, and driving to the volcano. If that can get a green light, an Apache from Savanah to Tampa should be easy.
That would be lit!!
I agree with him on the engine. With planes, reliability is the number one priority. An LS turning over nicely at 4200RPM will run forever.
I cant believe that LS George and James didnt trust an LS as much as they cater to them😂😂
I was also surprised
They know them too well 😂😂
Military man AND a Blackawk mechanic? Hell Yeah Brother!!!!
Stationed at Hunter Army Airfield!!! Love the fact that I grew up on that same base while my dad fixed Apache helicopters himself!!! That’s so awesome
That LS engine has to be half the weight of your Carbon Cub!
About 450 lbs for the LS1, just shy of 1900 lbs for the CC. So closer to a 1/4.
That is sick ls airplane sounds good 👌🏽
5:25 : synchronized arm folding
LS1 swapped airplane-nuts! It sounds fantastic!
I'm not a car guy, nor am i an airplane guy, but seeing that plane start up got me excited AF!
So bad ass....that combo of the prop and the LS is sick🤙💯
I had a chit eating grin from ear to ear the whole video. That was a blast to watch!!
