Genshin was criticized for being a BOTW clone. So, it gets the attention of many people. Since WuWa gets the same treatment, being call a Genshin clone, i'll be damn sure many people will be interested.
Just because anime, if you check the story, how they create the nations and almost every aspect of the game its an anime "clone" of TES. Not saying it really is, but its closer than Botw.

WW has more than 4 times the subs on youtube than ToF and the game isn't even out yet. So yeah WW is way bigger hype than ToF launch.

I think Wuwa will have a decent playerbase and will sustain itself, but for now the arguments i've seen are "its a competition for genshin". Im gonna try, but the fanbase is killing the hype for me every day.

HSR only beat Genshin in Revenue (but even that, sometimes Genshin still can Keep up), since they always release 2 new Characters every month and has faster Meta-change than Genshin (Genshin only does "2 new character in 1 patch" on 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2.0, 2.1, 3.1, 4.1, and 4.7... while HSR always does that since 1.0, in Whales perspective that want every character in the game, ofcourse they will spend more on HSR)

Genuinely an interesting time to be a gacha player compared to a couple years ago. The explosion in the industry has left me shocked in more ways than one. My biggest problem right now is probably that there is too many games and too little time and storage to play them.

One rule on playing a video game. Never ever join a community, cuz it's either your gonna deal with this, or spoiled for a story.
There is so much new things that will make the game enjoyable and make you not bored in longterm basis as Wuwa continuously hears the voices of the community and acts fast to change it.
-The game already has 3 Endgames upon release and will add a 4th one soon.
- the MC will soon change into another element with sick animations (and we know our MC here is very strong, unlike others)
- Some Echoes are being Converted by Wuthering Waves into Playable Mounts so we can Traverse the World Easier (Heron so you can fly, rider so you can ride), and others i shouldn't disclose anymore.
The game isn't even OUT yet .... I wish people would stop this bs where they are like 'this is what is going to happen'. THE GAME ISN'T EVEN OUT. All of the points he made in his little note thing can also be said for genshin. Yet look at popular genshin is. ALL GAMES SEE SOME DROP OFF. It's normal. Genshin has playerbase drop off when they finish content. Regular games like kingdom hearts see a drop off when they finish the game, popular games like helldivers 2 and palworld are seeing drop offs. IT IS NORMAL. that doesn't mean WuWa is going to crash and burn because of it.

The biggest reason why tof is stuck at 12m per month is that the game is unplayable on mobile unlike hsr and genshin. Tof makes 200k-700k per month on mobile whereas genshin and honkai make 30m-100m on mobile. So i think ww will be a success from a revenue standpoint because the game is playable on mobile from what i have seen in the beta.
Tof is on mobile… Its a mobile mmorpg, it most definitely isnt a pc mmorpg, its just ported to pc aswell.

To be financially successful, all a game needs is a Solid dedicated core of 4~5 million players, the idea to advertise is to get as much people into the game, and the people who like the game and stay should be around 5 million, and you keep advertising to keep that pool steady and bump it up.
Just an example, if 5 million dedicated players put just 20 dollars into the game "will not count whale players " your revenue for that month alone will be 150 million, so the game doesn't need to cater to everyone, but it needs a solid big player base that likes what it has to offer, the other 20 million on and off players can be f2p or whatever
People are kinda hard to predict. I can see what he was going for (i quit wuthering waves day 2 bc it wasn't my thing), but... those are some interesting takes. People aren't just one thing or another; why do you think so many people stuck with Genshin? Sure, some people drop it until the next archon quest, or the next region, but most keep grinding a little bit until more content comes out. Story enjoyers will grind out exploration, exploration enjoyers will grind out quests, combat enjoyers will enjoy their new toys for a bit before committing acts of treason in their resinless haze (physical candace).
If people drop a game, it's usually because they're completely unsatisfied with it. As long as they occasionally get updates to things they like, they stick around.

I've been playing Genshin for more than 3 yrs even when theres nothing to do in it, old stories ending and new stories starting, alot of character kits and elements never being reworked, enjoying the same old combat, etc.
And I'm 1 million % sure I ain't the only one. So if millions of people can play a game like Genshin for years, pretty sure Wuwa's gonna have no problem either. There's tons of games people have been playing years since it came out. DBZ BT3, MHW and SF4 are some examples. Why he think the game wont survive when we got infinite evidences with other games that it can is beyond me

Think this is something people forget- Genshin's 10 year road map is already laud out. Things mentioned in live streams 1-2 years ago are being implemented in addition to having to rework things because Genshin was only ever meant to be a casual, on the go game primarily meant to be played on mobile. With its success Hoyo is having to shift directions while staying true to the casual premise. There's lots of room for improvement but they're doing good updating snd reworking in a 2 year window. Game only just hit the 3.5 year mark.
Well it's gets Qols every patch , and 4.6 one was very good because it's now take less size of the game (like a huge amount more than 10+ gb on mobile and around 15 on PC)

Thing is even in MMOs the same happens, you have a large group of players there for the story and seasonal events. They show up each expansion, finish it in a few days, than log off till the one. Some are content and quiet, while others kick their feet screaming there isn't enough to do.

I love genshin, but I understand the daily grind. The fact is, if you play a game for 2-3 years straight, you'll probably get bored of it, one way or another. The toxicity I see in Genshin, is the same thing I see in other mmorpgs, or other old gaming communities.
I dont get it, just only after HSR became big then Hoyo made changes to GI (QoL that has been asked for 3 years) , then what was the multiple satisfaction respondents for? To the bin? I get why those who switched to WuWa made their choice, they get these changes even before the game launches, the devs even made changes early and listened to the CBTs feedback, (im not sure about long term) but from their track record (PGR) they really did listened, and I do hope this makes changes to both of GI and WuWa, coexist and forced to improve. This is for the better, competition breeds innovation after all. Its only one thing left, either for the good or for the worse.
ToF is a failure don't get it twisted. No one thinks it's a failure because it didn't beat Genshin. It's a failure because it's concurrent daily users are what we in the MMO space refer to as a "dead game". Also you can have the worst game ever and make tons of money. So the argument that it made money is bad. We know how much money Genshin makes and the refusal to put any effort into the game. I think the problem with the marketing claim is that PGR global failed because of a lack of marketing. I don't think Kuro is eager to make that mistake again. I also think it's a very weird claim as every company dumps a lot of money into marketing and yes it's a gamble but it's a necessary one. Companies that don't take this risk don't do well. Hell running a business in general is a risk. Also yeah I think it's weird to act like combat focused players can only care about combat. I'm combat focused but I also like story and find the exploration moderately enjoyable. All in all I think most of the takes weren't great.

It's just that WuWa has to get a lot of things right and most of it is directed towards the attention people give to it. Genshin is basically reworking the whole system and introducing Natlan with the release of WuWa and many people get back at it when a new region comes around. I don't think WuWa has a chance to blow up early in competition to Genshin for now but it will steadily climb up the competition and Genshin will pay attention too. All in all I think the one who'll be happy the most is the players who'll play both. Best case scenario would be that Hoyo doesn't have a monopoly on gacha games and have to constantly pay attention to their game so that others don't get ahead of it. Competition is good for health of the people who consume it
I like Gate! His points are pretty much right but I expect the game will succeed. We’re not at the saturation point with gacha of this type yet. The only issue I could see killing it is if the devs are greedy AF and try to immediately get their investment back by not giving everyone their expected welfare period or making the highest tier characters wayyyy too hard to pull.

But WW will have a stable playerbase and Kuro Games will have a stable place in the market. I can agree to some Gateos points. (W-ToF streamer btw no cap. I still play ToF since day one btw)
But he didn't mention once about PGR (Punishing Gray Ravens) - The success of Kuro Games. I and I would dare say 95% of the playerbase who plays PGR has no complaints about the game itself but only their God forsaken skill issue because the game is highly skilled if you want to be good at it. Genshin is a good game but it's 'non-anxiety' driven game is getting boring and extremely irritating.
People like easy achievable things but eventually which was easy gets boring and annoying over time, and the satisfaction of it dissipates over time. PGR is a good example where that satisfaction doesn't dissipate because it has that 'Elden ring aspect' where skill is needed if you want to achieve the best result and FULLY master a character. For example, multiple perfect rotations, parries, block, Ping management, timing etc. + any F2P andy can get everycharacter each banner if they want. Sorry, I digressed from the WW topic.
But the point is, that this game will demand skill and people who won't be _puzzys_ and accept failure and are willing to improve over time, will be the bigger winners. Casuals if they WANT can enjoy the game casually if you want to tryhard, you can tryhard. The OPTION TO TRYHARD is whats appealing for many while Genshin just has the Abyss.
Lastly, speaking about Doods a.k.a GUYS - MALES, I will dare say that WW's males are 5x times better than Genshins males. Males in PGR already look like chads and all the males I have seen so far in WW are Gigachads like Jiya, Kalcharo. They look like actual men! Real MEN! Not fukin puzzy femboys like in Genshin.
In conclusion, this game will be a W. 👏
I actually think wuthering waves could beat genshin when hyped character release. The game is bigger than both genshin and hsr pre launch

Also that 12 million a month gets heavily reduced after expenses. You could probably cut it in half or more. Running games these days, especially worldwide and on multiple systems, takes a lot of money.

Also saying he can't confirm anything because he'd get sued makes no sense when he literally signed nothing. Yah we know this, and you should know, Genshin reached the top, because there were no competitive games in the first place, but from now on, starting with Wuwa and ending with Project Mugen, Genshin will find it difficult to collect money unless it improves its content.
