Yo it’s me😂 Funny af vid I just wanna know where the tweet about this was? I posted my vid weeks ago didn’t know people were trashing on it😅 Also to explain more at the time I made 3 vids explaining my whole thoughts on gi vs wuwa basically. Well 1 was more about mobile games in general. I don’t love gi or hate wuwa I just had stupid thoughts on both games. I called Gi a cookie clicker even and how excited I was for wuwa. I really am a fence sitter tho ngl but u know how making a vid is u gotta try not to b and I’m dookie at that. I don’t live by my opinions I just personally think it might struggle long term and I’m bad at explaining🥲 I c the art point is shiet now but idk the gi cult is p scary. I wonder, do they actually play other game? I mean, Genshin really doesn't have much stuff to do. They claim Genshin has great story, but only 10% of the stories are nice and most of them have awful pacing
For many of these people, genshin is their first exposure to video games.
They can't read. They need repetitive dialogue to understand something.
Plus this is "the story is amazing" thing is coming from the people crying for a skip button.
Most of my friends who play Genshin said the same thing, the Lore is good but the Main Story sucks. It's only better in Sumeru and Fontaine. Other than that is the Character's story that keeps them interested in playing the game, nobody praises the game's mechanics or the environment at all.

When my friends asked me before what I'm playing, oh man, I am so embarrassed to say it's Genshin as they say it's like a coloring book game where you mix and match colors and stuff and tap tap buttons to proc skills, ults and shields while standing there and boss dies.
But now I'll be proud to say "I am playing Wuthering Waves" as the game is not for little kids but is more for grown-ups and is based on your own Skills as a True Gamer should be.
That's the same as asking why Genshin players pick mints.

Literal game designer here working as a consultant and in academic research. I don't like to put Wuthering Waves in the same category as Genshin.
What I played in CBT2 showed me it's a very distinct product.
The best analogy I could make is Sekiro vs Ghost of Tsushima. They both will offer deep experiences in its own way.
What is most likely to happen is they both will retain a very large playerbase with Wuwa capitalizing on the current Genshin playerbase that is feeling not cared enough by Hoyoverse.
This is great news to Genshin players as Hoyo might actually start listening and fixing what the community wants in the long term. It's a win-win scenario for every gacha lover out there.

They have contracts with hoyoverse, they can't talk about it in a positive light or quite literally their contracts will be ridden of. Kuro Games has had my support for years now with PGR, and they will continue to if Wuthering Waves turns out to be really fun.

There's three types of people who still love playing genshin. It's either the meta players like jazef, new players like mrpokke, or just idiot shippers who claims all characters are real and gay. And most likely two of those people will definitely look forward to genshin alternatives cus why tf they want to play genshin when there's other one that appreciate your meta builds and appreciate your time. But most importantly, listening to our feedback.

Honestly, an important point to make is the time-money sink fallacy that will for sure affect a lot of GI players
They have spent so much time and money over the years that swapping to a new game and starting from the beginning would feel rough. They have already invested in GI, so abandoning it could sound like a waste to them

What got me interested into Wuthering Waves is cuz I played PGR in the past, and I am a huge fan of DrakeNier (Drakengard and Nier), and even collabed with PGR at one point. Who knows maybe one day, they'll get a collab from it again lol 😅
I came here after seeing WW was 3,1★ on play store despite me thinking it was sick AF, as sick as genshin but without much of its drawback.

1:31 this take is absolutely delusional. In fact it's the opposite, most gachas announced these past few years all tried to be Genshin. That is saturated, bright, uplofting, maximalist art direction and character designs. Result? Most of the characters and the world of the aforementioned blend so well together that they start to lose identity and thereby becomes generic. So many even tries to go with typical fantasy or an epic adventure type of feel. Genshin, HI3, HSR, ToF, Higan, Project Mugen, Azure Promelia, ZZZ and more literally share the same general art direction . Take a character from ZZZ and Project Mugen and they'll blend just fine to either worlds. Meanwhile, art direction similar to Arknights, PGR, WW, Path to Nowhere are the unique ones because they don't try to be Genshin.
Hell, even PC games like Tales of Arise, Granblue Fantasy Relink all goes with thr same general approach but they're miles better imo. They have this hand-painted texture/feel over cel-shaded assets feel that I have yet to see in a gacha.

Because already playing that game for a long time, even if the game became a shit they still playing it or they will lose the time and/or money that they're already invested into the game.

There are 2 groups of people who are hating it:
1. Smooth-brain Hoyo fans. Because they are the majority of those who hate the rival
2. Paid streamers. Of course sponsor is Hoyo.
Let's be honest: Genshin is known by almost everyone and is running for 4 years now. In those 4 years they didn't fix any issues with the game yet (and there are plenty of issues). After WW came out they finally began to work. I play both games and could not care less about all that drama. But it is amusing to watch how monopolist (Hoyo) starting to lose players and profits and how they start doing what they've been asked for 3+ years

i'm excited about wu wa not because i get to play something new other than genshin, but because it is new to me as this is my first diving into this kind of game. genshin was pop due to ads and sht and i never gave a damn. i never liked the aesthetic of it. also never played botw as i don't own a switch. wu wa on the other hand is my getting my vibe with the post-apoc and a more serious tone the game has. Even PGR hits the tone very good as well and am still playing it. just my opinion. i can't judge the numbers by solely consisting of ex-genshin or genshin players wanting to check out the game and just quit in the long run while leaving criticism. there might be people just like me who are new and found wu wa's aesthetics appealing instead of genshin. again, just my opinion.

I honestly think people are coming at this situation thinking it will be like ToF. The aesthetic is similar after all, even though ToF is COMPLETELY different game from WuWa and Genshin. ToF was so hyped and ended up being so disappointing after a little while. But I don't think WuWa will be like that at all. PGR is a fantastic game so I know WuWa will be great, even if it doesn't turn out as successful as Genshin.
Genshin and WuWa have significant differences, but let's indulge for a moment for the sake of their argument, because even if they were really too similar, that mindset shows how horribly brainwashed GI players are that they can't really grasp anymore the importance of having devs that care about you as a player vs devs that throw you half a bone every year and just want to milk you.

Tbh, the main reason i quit genshin was their character designs, which i dont like at all. It just feels too much for me, no offense, but some of us just have different preferences.
I actually find the wuwa design much better. Its not too colorful and has a mature design compared to genshin (no offense tho). Thats why some of us will be spending money on it.
Plus!! Wuwa is not a genshin killer, because it does not focus on taking genshin down.

If i want to critisize about wuwa, it will be about too many black and white outfit for any chara, the female mc look hot but the male look a bit boring to me(pls no pitchfork) but i use him anyway, and i always hate it when standard banner have 2 lolis or more in it. But overall, this game is your free dream game if you cant pay for stellar blade or sekiro.

Story was good. They really need to make better fight mechanic, Like making sung jinwoo ride one of big monster and start stabbing the head would be satisfying. I also thought the game would be openworld, the lobby is pretty darn boring... I really want to go to his house to meet his sister or talkin to her.

Played quite some ToF when their global servers released and I had quite some fun. I definately did see it as the only game which could basically be a competitor to GI.
The thing that made me quit ToF, and many of my friends as well, is that powercreep became a thing, you had to get the latest characters to keep performing well in a competitive environment like the "spiral abyss" of ToF. This was basically undoable to f2p players and such. Not to mention, I took a break, came back later and noticed that I had quite some stuff to catch up on. But I could not. Since the stuff I had to catch up on included raids which were pretty much not done anymore since the active players already surpassed those. It forced you to contact people on social media platforms like discord or reddit to reach out for a group to help you clear it. Not impossible to do, but the game simply became a hassle/chore to still be fun.
on the other hand, I always go back to Genshin, even after sometimes taking a break. Content on the main story is always top notch, there is no progression which is difficult to progress in the same way as ToF once you left for some time. There is no competitive environment which compliments a "powercreep" kind of character releases and honestly talking about powercreep, new characters in Genshin are usually amazing, but do not make previous characters unusable or useless in comparison.
long story short: ToF is the only example of a game which once competed against Genshin but it is more of a 'loyal fanbase' game lately. I am stoked about what WW could bring to this open world gacha game genre and hope it would compete against Genshin, since it would mean I have 2 awesome games to keep playing.
