This was my first mastergrade without knowing its 2006 model since i bought it online, gotta say its really good to look at after all I really like the strike freedom but couple things I hate about this kit is that, its back heavy, I guess thats why it has a free stand, the pegs on the arms to hold the rifles are a pain as they are prone to falling easily, some parts on the wings for some reason it wont lock so I had to glue .. But overall still really loved the kit as Im biased haha.
This just gets me more excited for the MGEX. Strike Freedom is one of my favorite Gundams. Also, there’s a full burst version of this MG that gives it plated gold parts.
Fun fact: the Strike Freedom was originally called the Super Freedom, but that name was quickly abandoned when the Super Free incident occurred (be emotionally prepared when looking it up on the internet; you have been warned). That is why the Strike Freedom does not have any apparent features from the Strike and looks more like an upgraded Freedom, because it is ; )
i got this kit around 2008. at the time the metallic injection gold was soft, so soft that when putting it together, the opening wing gimmick mashed itself to oblivion. so one side of the wings doesn't really stay open. but... it still looks good on a shelf and the angles aren't loose on mine to this day.
First Master Grade I ever have... Bought it back in 2009, although it still holds up to date- both of its manipulator pegs/connector pegs for the wings, have snapped; but were epoxy glued and filed a bit- still works properly, despite the wings itself being backpack heavy... And even if most of its inner frame reinforced polycaps have loosened, tightening it up with epoxy superglue does the trick... All in all- Master Grade Strike Freedom is one of the Master Grade Units that I can recommend that you get, should you want to step up your Gunpla Build abilities and know-how... The Full Burst mode actually compensates a lot of the SF. There are duplicate hand and other joint parts that are chrome gold and includes the puke ones
I'm actually curious about Full Burst one. I was hoping this will be the review of the Full Burst mode, but apparently this is the original version which I actually never see the box art. But still, pretty informative and you can imagine how the Full Burst will fix it
@@ArchusKanzaki Full Burst is my current wip. Gold metallic gundam marker (or paint) is needed for the gold plated parts as the nub marks were no exception for FB mode. I also wish they had gold plated ALL of the inner frame but its just the obvious parts, still a lot of that ugly yellow for a lot of the parts. It comes with a separate stand and effect parts for displaying the dragoons launched/mid flight and a pretty neat poster.
I had a FB SF for about.... 8 years? It was really really nice looking esp with the Full burst dragoon gimmick. But be warned, the chrome gold fades over time and the nub marks on those chrome are really really nasty
This was actually the third MG I have finished since I got back into Gunpla (my prior ones being 00 QAN[T] and Wing Gundam Zero EW Ver.Ka), and it puts a smile on my face that you agree that it's a solid, enjoyable kit, even with it being as old as it is. Now I just need to get around to taking time to work on the MG Gundam Astray Turn Red that I have stashed away, as well as try to get my closest model shop to get more MG kits in...
one easy fix for loose ankles like that is put a small layer of super glue on the ball part of the joint then let it fully dry and when you put it back in it should be more stiff
I'm pretty new to the gunpla scene. so when I saw those dry decals, I immediately got a little jealous. They look soo nice! And with half of the effort of water decals to boot
this was my second ever MG kit and it was and I think still is my most favorite kit of all time. I got the full burst mode version so it has a lot of just amazing gold plating that takes it up another step. Couldn't recommend enough
I built this MG and the Freedom 2.0 back in 2016. This old master grade has held up so much better than the 2.0, which has loose joints and floppy hips. BUT, the gold metallic injection plastic is very gummy and fragile, so it will wear out easily in certain parts, mainly the wing joints.
I remember back in 2010 when I got home from school, I got this kit as a birthday gift to me by my mom. really love this kit ever since. My first MG kit as well. Still on my display cab.
This was my first MG. It was given me for my birthday with the justice. Feels like it will be the first kit that will require glue in the future. I think this is the oldest kit I own maybe.

My collection is pretty small, but this is still my favorite kit in it. It is my favorite Gundam, and I believe it did it complete justice. Personally, I prefer a simpler anime-accurate design in Gunpla, as trying to make a model kit look better than the show itself just feels weird to me. Great review! I’m glad to see Gaikotsu agree with me on this one.
I have had this kit since it's release in 2006... and I am amazed mine is still in one piece and will admit the hands can be difficult jut compared to other MGs of the time they were light years ahead.
I got it a long time ago, maybe my second master grade after the Sword/ Launcher strike. Loved it with the clever moving parts in the wings although some are very delicate and easy to break. I deeply regret not owning the Full Burst version but the shipping cost from Japan to France for this beast were crazily high compared to the base version. And it's been looking so great on my shelves for more than a decade. Such regal presence with its wings spread. I'm really looking forward to building the extreme this year.
I've never really considered which Kira Yamato suit I prefer, but seeing them like this I've determined it's Freedom>Strike>Strike Freedom. I really do like the black on the torso for the Freedom and while the wings feel a bit much when I watched the anime - especially combined with its choir-filled musical theme as Kira literally descends from the heavens - they're not bad objectively speaking. It's an all-around nice and quite clean upgrade for the main hero suit, it's just kind of obnoxious to think ot its intended connotations. The Strike is nicely understated for a Cosmic Era suit and does fulfill the basic intent of a modernized RX-78-2 well. I do like the way the striker packs give it more of an identity and the Aile Strike in particularly has a great silhouette. My only real complaint is that the other striker packs colour schemes clash with the Strike itself. I prefer the way the Impulse Gundam handled it, by changing its own colours relative to the pack its using... even if it's a bit Megaman-ish. The gold on the Strike Freedom feels like it added needless clutter onto the Freedom's fairly slick design and the embellished wings aren't really something I appreciate. They work better in the anime when you can see them being used I guess, but in line-art and in gunpla form it's overstuffed. Not that I think it's a bad MS design technically, but Kira already felt like he got his version of the the Nu Gundam and this isn't a substantive visual upgrade, more okay side-grade.
My older brother gave me his old MG Strike Freedom. It has a red bandai tag too. When I got it I had to wash and clean it so much since it became so dusty (He built the gundam itself already not the wings and other stuff)

Strike freedom was (both years because there's two) 2006-2007 and its been 17 years and still nothing and then they decided to make it into a new line under MGEX and make even MG 2.0 types go from $50-60 into $175+ with scalpers running rampant and reselling it for $260+ Actually bottom line, there is no MG strike freedom 2.0 or no way they could after this MGEX so well, we're shelling out money. Well, my wallets been in lots of trouble anyways. We're all plastic crack.

I just ordered the kunio okawara version, it replaces the gold with regular inner frame grey, changes the blue a bit and has a bunch of decals on it. Hoping it will be a good built when it gets here.
my first MG kits, and fun fact, maybe the others already have mentioned it too, so you can build the wing of the this strike freedom with the inner frame for the dragoon unit to little bit pop out, and make the dragoon looks like about to deploy.
I’m probably not going to get the new MGEX version, despite how flawed the old Full Burst mode is, I don’t feel comfortable paying a possibility of over $200 if it doesn’t come with a way to launch the dragoons or have wings of light. Im just going to stick with my painted Full Burst Mode MG with 3rd party wings of light.
Here I preach MG Acguy once more - Classic unique design + detailed full inner frame + sturdy build + spring loaded weapon gimmicks + comes with a stand + comes with weapon effect parts. It ticks all the boxes.
This was my second Gunpla after the MG Aile Strike, both of which I got back in 2008. I haven't exactly played about with it an awful lot since then but it has been on display the entire time and doesn't have any issues with loose joints. One thing I do want to say is that I cannot agree more about the dry transfer decals, I absolutely love them. Without any sort of work or effort the look and finish you get with them is amazing compared to the glossy, obvious water slide decals. I wish Bandai did them more or at least sold them separately because I for one would happily pay a decent amount to get my hands on full sheets of them. Honestly if I had the option I would use dry transfers exclusively
I wasn't really a big fan of the Strike Freedom in general but out of curiousity, I bought this kit some few months ago. I got to say that I agree that for an old master grade, this kit still looks impressive. The only downside are the hands which can be remedied anyway but other than that, the kit is great. I didn't realize that I would love this kit despite not being a fan of SF Gundam
This was my first Master Grade, but sadly it got destroyed in a move. I actually cried when it did. However I plan on replacing it because it was an amazing Gunpla and I miss it so much.
My first MG! Ive been waitin for Mecha to review it since. Full Burst edition gold plating does sparkle up alot, especially the backpack when the funnels are off.
I built this just tonight and it might be my favorite I've built so far. It's really solid looks great, and has great features like slots for all the weapons to be stowed

Strike freedom is my favorite gundam ever, it is the successor to the freedom with way more fire arms than the regular freedom, since it has the super dragoon system, and the gold inner frame followed by the wings of light another one of my favorite aspects of the Strike Freedom. Also i love when it does the full burst mode, which is basically strike freedom using all of its fire arms, including the dragoons to lock into one or multiple enemy suits and shoots them all at once and defeating them entirely, the full burst mode can instantly disable both destiny and legend gundams. As seen in the Remastered series, it destroyed Rey's Legend gundam with the full burst mode.

Something about those cursive decals is so fitting to the Freedom and Strike Freedom. The new iterations since 1.0 feels so different for removing them.
I have the full burst waiting to go. Thinking of finding aome mirror gold for the frame. Them hands. The bane of my existence! Think it's why I subconsciously fell in love with RG when they started really amping it up (okay, it was more like, I REALLY wanted certain Master Grades and finding them [or tine to get them] was rough for a bit)
I enjoyed it when I built it 15ish years ago (holy crap!). I am looking forward to the MGEX though. I really hope there will be parts to do the Wings of Light and pose the DRAGOONs off the kit.
The HG version of this kit is okay, the beam rifle handles are pretty bad, for the connection is a c-clip. Even when I leave them alone without moving they got horribly loose. But I fixed that problem with some topcoat
Now I am more excited to start working on my Full Burst Mode that I got for Christmas! 😂 This is actually my most favorite gundam across all series. Hope the MGEX won't be as expensive as the Unicorn. Thanks for the video!
I build this gunpla last year favorite quite hard on my part especially the wings yet all worth it seeing it's balance build and my cons it's hands yet solid as a rock..😍😍🤩🤩👍👍
as a lot of you, this is my first master grade and saldly the joit to rotate the wings got "rotated" so one wing can getted open is an issue with this kind o "soft" like plastic but anyways is a great kit

To think a kit this old still has working dry transfer decals says alot. Ive got the full burst mode waiting for a paint job. Painted the frame with gold and clear orange already. The wings need putty if you are painting lol...
Full burst comes with rods and effects to display dragoons in flight (hence, full burst), part of the gold inner frame in plated, and it comes with an Action base 1 alongside the other stand and an adapter to get the Strike Freedom onto the action base 1. (You can also get the same adapter if you get the MG Destiny). It also comes with a poster.
i am looking forward to the mgex strike freedom as after a couple years in a static pose and a move to a different apt, the wings dont hold themselves up at high angles anymore
I still have mine from when it came out. Those poor wings did not hold up. I even painted all gold parts. Still became droopy rather quickly. I was able to stuff those wing joints with light paper and it stays.

my first MG kits, and fun fact, maybe the others already have mentioned it too, so you can build the wing of the this strike freedom with the inner frame for the dragoon unit to little bit pop out, and make the dragoon looks like about to deploy.
I’m probably not going to get the new MGEX version, despite how flawed the old Full Burst mode is, I don’t feel comfortable paying a possibility of over $200 if it doesn’t come with a way to launch the dragoons or have wings of light. Im just going to stick with my painted Full Burst Mode MG with 3rd party wings of light.
Bought my burst mode one 8 years ago, still in the box.
Here I preach MG Acguy once more - Classic unique design + detailed full inner frame + sturdy build + spring loaded weapon gimmicks + comes with a stand + comes with weapon effect parts. It ticks all the boxes.
This was my second Gunpla after the MG Aile Strike, both of which I got back in 2008. I haven't exactly played about with it an awful lot since then but it has been on display the entire time and doesn't have any issues with loose joints.
One thing I do want to say is that I cannot agree more about the dry transfer decals, I absolutely love them. Without any sort of work or effort the look and finish you get with them is amazing compared to the glossy, obvious water slide decals. I wish Bandai did them more or at least sold them separately because I for one would happily pay a decent amount to get my hands on full sheets of them. Honestly if I had the option I would use dry transfers exclusively
I wasn't really a big fan of the Strike Freedom in general but out of curiousity, I bought this kit some few months ago. I got to say that I agree that for an old master grade, this kit still looks impressive. The only downside are the hands which can be remedied anyway but other than that, the kit is great. I didn't realize that I would love this kit despite not being a fan of SF Gundam
This was my first Master Grade, but sadly it got destroyed in a move. I actually cried when it did. However I plan on replacing it because it was an amazing Gunpla and I miss it so much.
My first MG! Ive been waitin for Mecha to review it since. Full Burst edition gold plating does sparkle up alot, especially the backpack when the funnels are off.

I built this just tonight and it might be my favorite I've built so far. It's really solid looks great, and has great features like slots for all the weapons to be stowed
I recommend getting the 2.0 or the MGEX they're super awesome too

the nitpick i have here is the locking mechanism on the wings. it can get destroyed easily when turned wrongly and during assembly as well
I bought this kit last summer and I like. Then this past January I got the hg version at target.
My first MG was the Full Burst Mode because SF bias. Got more than I bargained for when I was just starting out back in my college days.
Ive been looking for this kit review since last year. Quite suprise this kit still hold up for an old kit. 👍👍👍👍👍
I got the full burst version of this and I can say that is very good and that version fixes the injection gold issue mostly

Strike freedom is my favorite gundam ever, it is the successor to the freedom with way more fire arms than the regular freedom, since it has the super dragoon system, and the gold inner frame followed by the wings of light another one of my favorite aspects of the Strike Freedom. Also i love when it does the full burst mode, which is basically strike freedom using all of its fire arms, including the dragoons to lock into one or multiple enemy suits and shoots them all at once and defeating them entirely, the full burst mode can instantly disable both destiny and legend gundams. As seen in the Remastered series, it destroyed Rey's Legend gundam with the full burst mode.

Something about those cursive decals is so fitting to the Freedom and Strike Freedom. The new iterations since 1.0 feels so different for removing them.

Them hands. The bane of my existence! Think it's why I subconsciously fell in love with RG when they started really amping it up (okay, it was more like, I REALLY wanted certain Master Grades and finding them [or tine to get them] was rough for a bit)
The Full Burst version has shiny gold parts where the inner frame is exposed. Making it look even beter.

I enjoyed it when I built it 15ish years ago (holy crap!). I am looking forward to the MGEX though. I really hope there will be parts to do the Wings of Light and pose the DRAGOONs off the kit.

Wouldn't mind having this one. I remember my first two master grades. The endless waltz death scythe and the red frame astray
The HG version of this kit is okay, the beam rifle handles are pretty bad, for the connection is a c-clip. Even when I leave them alone without moving they got horribly loose. But I fixed that problem with some topcoat

as a lot of you, this is my first master grade and saldly the joit to rotate the wings got "rotated" so one wing can getted open is an issue with this kind o "soft" like plastic but anyways is a great kit

Its possible to lock the ankles with ankle armor to stand it with back pack pack reliably.

My first ever gundam and one of my top 5 favourite suits. The only thing I hate on it are the hands as they arent very good at holding stuff.
To think a kit this old still has working dry transfer decals says alot. Ive got the full burst mode waiting for a paint job. Painted the frame with gold and clear orange already. The wings need putty if you are painting lol...
I keep thinking the Burst Mode box is the 2.0 of this. What's the difference aprt from the stand and effect parts, some gold plating or..?
Full burst comes with rods and effects to display dragoons in flight (hence, full burst), part of the gold inner frame in plated, and it comes with an Action base 1 alongside the other stand and an adapter to get the Strike Freedom onto the action base 1. (You can also get the same adapter if you get the MG Destiny). It also comes with a poster.

A thought occurs: what if Bandai decided to use the Freedom 2.0 hips again for the MGEX?
I still have mine from when it came out. Those poor wings did not hold up. I even painted all gold parts. Still became droopy rather quickly. I was able to stuff those wing joints with light paper and it stays.
Looks exactly like the HGCE revived version.
