so i used to have really short hair for a long time and 3 years ago i decided to grow them out. i had't had a trim for about 2 years because i didn't know you should do that when you have longer hair lol. so only when my hair strated getting extremely tangled all the time and i couldn't brush it i went a salon to have my hair cut and THEY CUT TOO LITTLE! it has helped a little bit my problem remained. i didn't want to go to a salon again because i was afraid that it would happen again and i didn't want to waste my money.
today i searched for hair trimming tutorials and yours has caught my eye. aaaaaand.... I'VE DONE IT!!! it looks wonderful! thank you so much, i'm very pleased with results! i can brush my fingers through my hair for the first time in a really long time! THANK YOU.

I have been using this method for three years and I am very grateful to you for making this video. Today I found a method which made cutting my medium length straight hair incredibly simple and I did a FAR better job than usual, and with much less stress and not a hair falling on my clothing. I used an IKEA food clip (BEVARA)! I held a section of hair, put it in the clip, clamped it, pulled it down, and cut. With the next section I put some of the cut hair in to use as a guide, the same as you do here. It gets it nice and straight at the back, too.

Not a professional you say. I would say that you have done a better job than so many of my hairdressers over the years at various salons. Often I don't get the result I wanted but feel obliged to say it was nice you know.
Have been to good ones too ofcourse.
But now I have been inspired by you and your awesome work and in this Coronapandemic I have bought a haircutting scissor and a shear scissor so Iam going to cut my own hair. If I dare. Will follow your tutorials and pick the one I feel most comfortable with.

Thanks! I normally cut my hair using the ‘ponytail method’ found on RUclips as I have long hair, and it works by giving shorter layers at the front and longer layers at the back. I wanted just a trim this time as I didn’t want the shorter layers to get any shorter this time, and your method worked great. 👍🏼

I know when I go to the salon the usually cut me wet and I see you’re cutting dry here so what should I do? 2. How often do you trim your hair?
I am trying to grow mine and fearful to go to the salon. I had my hair dresser trim my hair in May, but I did it myself about a month ago.
She angled it and I hate it and want it all one length but refuse to cut it that short
So again, how often do you trim????

I trim my hair every six months..but every year I always tend to cut it short..and usually i notice it grows so fast.

I always use this method to trim the ends ..ends up looking like i went to a profferssional finish since i straighten my hair before i do this so that to get the required length..n doesn't mess up .if hair is curly might not get good results.

This is so helpful. Such a good explanation. I’m just so broke due to COVID and I’m gonna try this. My hair is about the same length as yours so that’s a plus for me 😜.

i didnt bring my hair to the front bc you will end up with v shape and i didnt want the i want straight across how do i do that ?

I do the straight across too and use the pony tail method where you put it in the lowest pony tail possible and use both hands to pull the rubber band down to the length i want it at. I cut right below the rubber band and do what she does in this video to the ends to give it texture.

Used this and I did it on my hair and it turned out great. I do have some odds in my hair because previous stylist did the framing my face wrong. They kept cutting back into my hair. It drives me nuts but I basically have to trim and let it grow and then when it is at desired length I’ll cut the rest to that lenght

Cynthia Reitz I’ve been having to do the same because of a stylist doing a layered cut to my hair.. completely screwed it up lol It’s taken quite some time but I’ve almost got it all evened back out now
