I've been wanting to try cutting my own hair for the longest time and finally just DID IT! I'm actually so, so pleased with how good it turned out so I'm definitely going to do this again in the future, especially since I'm pretty picky with salon cuts and I hate that awkward part at the end if you want to adjust anything. Anyone else like this? 😅 It was actually very easy and straightforward so I hope this was helpful!
I L❤VE IT! I only tried Brad Mondo’s tutorial and it came out very similar to your style. It feels so refreshing, right? I, too, saw very little length removed but the feel and body was so apparent. You did an outstanding job! It almost gives K-Pop star vibes. ✨❤✨
Okay. So I just used this cutting style to try for long layers in my hair. She makes it look easy because I'm sure that there is editing that's been done. So what I did, and my hair ended up great, was watch a video three times in a row. When I did my front section I watched how she did it three times. It's almost like measure twice cut. The secret to getting this right is time, time, time. Take your time and do not rush. If you have to do it for 5 times before you cut then measure for five times. This worked out extremely well for me. It probably took me about 45 minutes. Straighten your hair before you do this, and use hair cutting scissors that aren't blunt. If you follow her directions exactly, you will be happy with the way it turns out.
I’ve been giving myself simple haircuts/trims the past few years, because I typically leave the hair dressers unhappy with the end result. Hair cuts have also gotten very expensive, so it’s tough to pay a premium for service you don’t love. I was nervous to try this tutorial, but I absolutely LOVEEE the results! My hair feels so much lighter, but I still have the length I want. This haircut makes my hair look so much more styled than any haircut I’ve paid for in the past! Thank you for sharing sucha clear and helpful tutorial!❤
Wavy hair here. This was the first haircut I’ve ever done, followed these steps and it came out super perfect. Took me about 25 min and $0 to achieve really amazing shape. Waw. Great tutorial. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Oh and this is the only video of self haircut I’ve seen. 😊
Just finished and it looks great!!!! For everyone who is saying they butchered their hair, do EXACTLY what she does. Don’t do it wet. Straighten it so you don’t get it too short and spend the most time sectioning it off. If you get the sections right, you cannot go wrong with this technique!
I am a hairstylist...15 years ago....This is the best long layered cut I've ever given myself!!! Its so hard to cut your own long hair 😢😶 This one works because of the pointy length in the back. Love it! Thanks for the video❤
So I just cut my hair following exactly what you did and it came out amazing!! This is actually the first time I've cut my hair and I'm so happy with the results. Thank you so much. I will be cutting my own hair from now on!
I get this! I asked my hair stylist for some really light layers and framing around my face. She said no because it's too thin. But I've had them before and they looked great! Lol so I've just started cutting my own hair. I can't justify spending over $80 on a haircut that isn't even fully what I want. You did a GREAT job! Looks beautiful! 🙌🏻
Girlssssss.. I'm giving the honest review. I tried it today and it turned out to be perfectttttt. You're gonna love it. But for the perfect look you've to do the partition of your hair as it is told in the video. Follow the steps and you'll achieve the perfect look.
OMG I TRIED IT AND IT WOOOORKED 🎉 I loved how clear the instructions were, thanks guuuurl 💕💕 I feel so much better with my haircut right now! Thank you so much ❤
I did this and half-assed it and it still looks great. I'm positive an actual hair stylist would see my mistakes but I'm happy with how it turned out, I just needed a quick refresh and this helped so much. I have thick long hair that is a mix of wavy, curly and straight so I figured there's not much I can do to make it look worse! I think it turned out nicely. My hubby likes it ❤
I had the urge to cut my hair at 1 am. I followed this video and omg… my hair looks amazing 😩😩😩 Thank you for posting this!!!❤ I wish I can add photos for proof lol
Okay THANK YOU!!!!!! I just did this and I feel 100000% better. my hair was driving me so crazy postpartum with hair loss, and the split ends and I've been itching to just slice it all off like Mulan, and I was probably about to give myself a bob out of need to fix it all, but following your steps has given it a style and it was soooo easy and feels so much better. Grazie Mille!!!!!
I’m so glad I found this video. I have a lot of the same preferences and am often disappointed by salon results. I can’t get anyone to give me the taper and layers I’m looking for, and end up with too much hair the same length. This technique was easy to follow and execute. I got the lightness, tapering, and varied layers I wanted, while maintaining length in the back. Thank you for saving my hair!
This is such a great tutorial. As someone who has had unsuccessful hair cutting stories and trying to save some money, this was the best balance of mixing a butterfly cut with just cutting some layers while maintaining length!
I refuse to pay 60+ dollars to get my hair cut. So glad I found this! I usually do my own version of the butterfly cut at home, but I am definitely trying this one.
Tried the tutorial and it turned to be very beautiful. Happy with the results. All the ladies out there who are nervous, please do straighten your hair for clarity while cutting.
Just tried this and my hair turned out amazing! I was so scared because I never cut my own hair before but I love the results! Saving this video for my sisters!❤
That's exactly how I want my hair to be and have been trimming my own hair too since I never liked the way they cut my hair at salons! Your video came out just in time for when I was thinking I needed to cut/style my hair!!
I just used your method to cut my daughter's hair and it turned out AWESOME! This technique really works for long layers with a v shape in the back. I will definitely do this again! Thanks so much for posting! Love it!
I've cut mine and my daughter's hair for years, I will never go to a salon again. I gave my daughter a wolf cut last year, I cut 13 inches off, she LOVED it. Her friends all have me cut their hair now. It's honestly not hard if you follow the directions exactly
I just cut my own hair in layers and I’m really really impressed with the results. It took me 20 mins to cut and style my hair, I am not a professional and cut my in layers for the first time 😊
I have been cutting my family's hair for a many years and get tired of paying for salon cuts for myself that can be really hit and miss how I want it. And those cuts keep costing more and more. I really want to be able to cut my own hair to save money and avoid the salon costs. I have tried one ponytail cut from a different source a ways back and while it was an ok cut I had to figure out some tweaks and blending on my own after as it wasn't the best result and not what I wanted. This video was perfect! I first watched your RUclips short version and followed along. It is really nice but now that I found the full video I am glad to see that I can blend it better with thinning shears. I have thick fine hair that has quite a bit of wave to it. And I am going to go back with the pony tails back in and blend it with the thinning shears and I know it will be my favourite hair cut! I am thrilled to be able to do my perfect cut for myself now! SO THRILLED 🥰 Thank-you for this fantastic method and detailed video showing every step of what to do and styling tips! I am excited to try the styling tips too as I also have wave to my hair and it never stays straight after sleeping on it. I do have some knowledge and experience with layers and cutting my daughter's hair but not on myself. I am self taught and no professional training. All I did was follow the video and pay careful attention to each step and how she was holding the hair, cutting it, and the angle to pull the sections out at. These things are important to success. When the angles you are pulling and cutting your hair in relation to pulling away from the head and the angle of the cut changes the layers change. Just take your time and make sure you are doing it just as shown watching the angles you are holding the hair before cutting.
I wasn't as aggressive with cutting my hair, but I do have layers. I used to pull all of my hair forward. This makes more sense to get more layers. Your hair is beautiful!
Just got done trying this, it was not hard at all! And for anyone that was wondering how long you need to do this, i finished in 30 minutes. I will say though, i dont style my hair so i just cut it and called it but it layed SO BEAUTIFULLY AS IS. quick, easy perfect! ❤
Yes! It was quick for me too! I could have spent more time shearing and detailing but just the basics I was super happy! I didn’t have much time I have a puppy in training and she did so well in the crate but I felt the pressure of keeping her in too long lol it took me about 30 mins too!! I have a LOT of hair
I did this in like 15 minutes! Thankfully I had recently purchased new shears from Amazon. How in the world did it come out better than most of my haircuts at the salon. I am shocked. Thanks for sharing!
I just tried this and it was super successful! I have very wavy hair and it looks great! Gave me a better cut than many salon visits. Turned out exactly like what I was wanting! xo
Cut my hair after watching a few tutorials and ultimately decided on following your tutorial, it came out great! I went a little shorter for the front fringe per my personal preference lol, thanks for a great tutorial 💗 saved me a lot of money!
Just cut my own hair for the first time using your video, thank you!! It turned out absolutely amazing and it is so much healthier. Subscribing now!! ❤
Okay I just used your video to cut my long limp lifeless hair that I was going to go to the salon and probably pay no less than $100 for something I may or may not like….your video helped me cut my own hair and save the money and I absolutely LOVE IT!!! 😍 Thanks for sharing 🩵👍🏻
Thank you for making this video. This is exactly how I like my layers to look. I have used it twice now (few months apart) and now I’m absolutely certain I don’t need to leave a hairdresser’s unsatisfied again. I always wear my hair wavy or curly so it’s a perfect cut for that style. ❤
Thank you so much for this easy layer cut to do at home. Just finished working through my thick long straight hair that has not seen a salon since my partner became almost fatally ill post Covid. He was very healthy before but now… so we can not risk getting another infection. I have learned how to cut his hair, but mine..? It looks and feels so much better now. Thanks again.
I watched your video and cut my hair - it was literally the first one YT recommended. I was going for a shorter length so I cut out a lot of it lol but I'm happy with the end result 😊
Ive done a few long layer tutorial hacks... none are quite as entertaining and clear as yours. Just dyed my hair vivid magenta violet balyage, and about to have some snazzy long layers to go with it!! Thank yooou!
You made this look so easy. I just went to the hair salon yesterday. It took me a year to grow 6 inches and she took off 2 inches and didn't cut any of my layers that have so many split ends and breakage. So now that I payed $75, I have to fix it and do it myself. Which I normally do cut my own hair. Thanks for this video. Gives me courage and hope to cut my hair and redeem my layers. Cheers!
Wow! I was terrified while I started cutting, but it actually came out super cool! I haven’t been to the salon for a few years, they always take a lot more of my length of what I ask for, which is extremely annoying. I got the layers and I kept my length too. My hair is now “salt&pepper” color, and it looks awesome in layers. Thank you.
I just tried this this. My hair is very thick and about 6 inches past my shoulders. It’s very heavy and hot in the summer. And normally when it gets like this, I just chop it off. So before I overreacted, I decided to try layers because I’ve wanted to for years. I very much like my hair it’s shiny. It’s thick, so I wanted to keep the length. I have to tell you I was nauseous cutting 5 inches off my front ponytail. I cut it about an inch and a half below my chin.I have to be able to still get it off of my face. I didn’t do it as smoothly as you did. But I feel I did a good job. I will definitely try this again as it grows out. Thank you for the excellent tutorial. I appreciate you taking the time. I did subscribe to your page for many of your ideas. Thank you.
I’ve been cutting my own layers for the past couple years and this is by far the simplest tutorial I’ve used! I was kind of nervous cutting the front so short but it looks great and only took a few mins (my hair is on the thin side) thanks for posting this
I rarely have time to get to the hair Salon between work and home. I hadn't gone for over 2 years and my hair was down to my waist and the layers were long gone. I like low maintenance and don't have much time to style. I watched the video several times before attempting. While cutting my hair I followed along pausing and re-watching whenever needed which was a lot. I was shocked at the results. It looks just like when I go to the salon and pay $100 for a cut and style. It took time and patience, but it was my first time cutting hair ever. I know it'll go faster and easier the next time. Thank you for taking time to make this step by step approach to cutting your own hair.
Finally a video where directions allow you to cut by pulling thr back forward. Wish i came across this video last night...before i COMPLETELY butchered the back of my hair. And im not exaggerating!
I got waistline length hair, it's thinning coz it keeps on falling. I grew tired of it so I look for a tutorial that is easy to follow. Thank heavens I came across this vid. So happy with the result, my hair feels lighter. Will definitely do this again. Thanks a bunch!😊❤
100% recommend!!! I did it and it came out really nice. It’s been about 15 years since I had l layers and today I decided to give it a try and I’m happy with the end results definitely recommend! Thank you
Easy to watch and follow! Tried it and I have to say I’m super happy with how it turned out! Definitely gonna be cutting my own hair at home from now on. Love the voluminous look and still keep my length! Thank you so much for this diy!
A really good Video! Tomorrow i wanted to go to the hairdresser, but i saw your video and thought...why not try it out....and it worked really well!!! So now I am saving myself a lot of money, thank you so much😊😊😊
This turned out better than any haircut I've ever gotten at a salon! And it was very forgiving if you don't do it perfectly. I even tipped myself with an expensive latte and candy 😊
Literally the best easiest layered (long) haircut that I've found. Just tried it and really loved it! I'm a beginner in cutting my own hair, so I was looking for something easy and straight forward and I found it!! Love this tutorial!! 💖
Oh I hope to try this someday! My hair is naturally thick, but currently is medium length and thinning out for unknown health reasons I'm going to investigate! The cut turned out great! 😊
I would love to do this but I first have to work through the trauma of cutting my own bangs when I was in elementary school. Lolol. I am impressed! Your hair looks beautiful!
This is the first video that I've seen to cut hair that I really, really like. The last time I went to a hair salon to get my hair done it was a lot of money and I haven't been back since then. So I have tried numerous times to cut my hair, I don't think I'm really successful at it. But watching your video I feel pretty confident that I can do this and my hair won't be so thick
Holy crap this is the exact look I've been after for a couple of decades and NOBODY gets it right!! Definitely doing this. I've just been shaving my head every few months since COVID, but I wanted to grow it out and it's looking really ratty. I've gotten a bit cheap since I stopped getting it done regularly. 🤣 I just can't justify spending hundreds of $$ every 4-6 weeks on my hair anymore!
I just did it. And I like it. It was super easy and I don’t have any regrets! Thanks for saving me $500 and being annoyed it wasn’t what I wanted. I know exactly how I want my layers length ponytail and you nailed it. And I did I!
Wow! I did this just now. I did it with my hair wet because it's kind of wild. It turned out fabulous! I haven't had my hair cut in 9 months. It looked a mess. It looks great now! Thank you.
Omg I just had the same itch last week! It was nerve wracking but fun. I will say that one side was so much more difficult for me to do. It still came out beautifully!
I DID THIS. I followed your video and cut my own hair, I have straight asian hair so it was easy to follow your video. Thank you for sharing this tutorial, I've saved this video for future cuts when my hair grows out ♥
You're a genius! Couldn't have been easier and I've never loved a trim more! I hate going to the salon because I always leave disappointed. Now I save money and time! Thank you!
Doing this right now! ♡♡ I used to get my hair cut at the salon like every 8 weeks, I got the jennifer Anniston in the early 00's pixie cuts, diagonal wedge etc. So i watched my hair get cut a lot, and started cutting my friend's hair and then my own, now having youtube videos to follow makes it even easier! ❤
Did this video last night, I’m innnnn love with my new hair cut, thank you !! I’ve been growing out a blunt cut hair cut and this has been a game changer ❤❤❤
I wished I could give you more than just one like for this video. I use it every time I cu my hair since the lockdown. I too have very thick hair and was often disappointed with salon cuts. Many thanks 🙏🏽
I did it! I didn’t think I could, but I took it slow and I didn’t cut a lot off this first time. I’ll try again in a few weeks and cut more for more layers. What I did looks great, though! A fresh cut…even perimeter…yay! Thank you for this🥰.
The absolute best hair layering video out there!! My hair came out AMAZING!! I feel 10x lighter as well !! 🤠❤️ thank you for this video. You explained the process so well and your hair looks so good too 😮😎
So thankful for this video. I did it. I cut my hair following this. But I did three sections in the back instead of two. With more practice, I'll get better. But I love how it came out. Thank you so much for uploading this tutorial.
Thank you, thank you for this wonderful video. I followed your instructions and I got a beautiful haircut. Step by step instructions are very clear and easy to follow. Layers were better than ever. I will definitely do this again in the future.
I'm a mom of 2 littles and I needed a haircut so bad and I just couldn't find the time to go out... This video helped a lot!! I tried it, it wasn't as easy as I thought but it was not difficult and I love the way my hair came out!!
I am so glad i found your video! I have long hair almost too my waist and its time for my layers and i dread going to a salon because i feel like A. I leave seeing no difference other than my bank account has less money or B. they end up taking too much off my length.
Wow! She's a great teacher. I've never been a "girly-girl". I cannot do much with style and fashion, at all. I am flat, but ive been trying since back surgery has me grounded and bored. Knowing I can't even style my hair decently, I've never dared to cut it myself. I've always, very noticeably, ruin my own bangs trim. Today, I followed your video, and my hair feels and looks great! Im feeling pretty proud of myself rn. Thank you! I'm curious about what other things you are about to teach me. 🤩🎉
I really enjoyed watching your channel a few years ago when I was into make up. You taught me a lot and I'm very grateful for that. You are such a sweet lady and I'm so glad that you are still inspiring people with your amazing videos. I'm glad to have found this video on my feed today, it has reminded me to be thankful for having learned so much from you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I have curly hair but I prefer to wear it straight and I really wanted layers so I followed your tutorial and I am sooo happy with how it came out, thank you
I watched this twice and i did it. Yes! It turned out really good. I actually cut just a little bit to start and then i cut more and it’s perfect. On pandemic time when every salon was closed I bought crea clip and followed tutorials but this method is a lot easier since it doesn’t require any tools other than scissors and hair ties. Just cut a little to start and work from there
I did it yesterday and it ended fine! just take your time selecting parts properly and cut little by little. also if you are really not sure, I put leave in conditioner on hair I'm planning to cut and then I let it down, so I was able to see the difference ykyk hope I explained it properly 💀
You are right on point missy!
New sub! Love it! 🥰👍
Thank you! I always get waaaay too many layers cut into my hair. If I can just cut my own hair I would never have a bad haircut again.
Superb lovely dear
Okay. So I just used this cutting style to try for long layers in my hair. She makes it look easy because I'm sure that there is editing that's been done. Does this go for any longer hairstyle??

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, finally cut my own hair with layers just like you showed and I'm over the moon - you are amazing thank you.
This is going to be my go to maintenance cut for the rest of my life! I was hesitant, but SO glad I did it. It took 5 min and gave my hair new life! 🤯
I thought I was going to butcher my hair trying this, but copied her movements and it actually came out great!! I’m amazed! Thank you!

Tried the tutorial and it turned to be very beautiful. Happy with the results.

Perfect! And thank you. Mom of 6 here and no income to spend on myself so this is an absolute gift

I just used your method to cut my daughter's hair and it turned out AWESOME! This technique really works for long layers with a v shape in the back. I will definitely do this again! Thanks so much for posting! Love it!
Tried this video out like a year ago with long hair and it worked perfectly! Just tried it again with short hair and we’ve got a winner again 🥰 tysm!
Easy to watch hard to do .
😅😅😅I feel you
Well this scares me... Lol
So true
Exactly 😊
I've cut mine and my daughter's hair for years, I will never go to a salon again. I gave my daughter a wolf cut last year, I cut 13 inches off, she LOVED it. Her friends all have me cut their hair now. It's honestly not hard if you follow the directions exactly

Can I cut my hair even if it's just medium thick like not thick but like not thin either will I look funny?
@@kaidyhernandez1882no, do it but always start with small cutting. Cause you can always go shorter.
I am a hairdreser and I need to tell you I love how looks after the cut.
The hair cut style is suitable for curly hair? Should do that?
I have been cutting my family's hair for a many years and get tired of paying for salon cuts for myself that can be really hit and miss how I want it. And those cuts keep costing more and more.
Really? Is it work? I want to do it
Okay I just used your video to cut my long limp lifeless hair that I was going to go to the salon and probably pay no less than $100 for something I may or may not like….your video helped me cut my own hair and save the money and I absolutely LOVE IT!!!
I just cut my hair and LOVE it. Added shorter curtain bangs. Saved myself $100 for a long haircut. Thank you!
That is awesome!
Cheers!
Tried it today. Loved it! The bf noticed the backside saying it looked really beautiful like a V and layered. Thank you for the tutorial!!
Thank you.
This is why I stopped going to a salon as well.
Thank you.
I have butchered my haircut the last few times I tried to cut myself, this time it looks amazing! Great video!!!
Thank you for taking time to make this step by step approach to cutting your own hair.
does it look good if you don't style it though?
Finally a video where directions allow you to cut by pulling thr back forward. Wish i came across this video last night...before i COMPLETELY butchered the back of my hair. And im not exaggerating!
I tried cutting my hair for the first time and it looks amazing. Thank you for the tutorial🤍🤍
So now I am saving myself a lot of money, thank you so much😊😊😊
Thank you! I did this. It’s not professionally. However, I saved $130 for this month. It took 30 mins.
Thanks a lot ❤
This turned out better than any haircut I've ever gotten at a salon! And it was very forgiving if you don't do it perfectly. I even tipped myself with an expensive latte and candy 😊
Awesome tutorial! Watched your video twice and then cut my hair in 5 mins. I have thin baby fine hair so layers make it look fuller. 🎉
Looks great. I've cut my hair with the butterfly method 3x now and it's the first haircut I've liked in 4 years. 😁🤗
Thank you.
You explained the exact haircut I always ask for and never get 🤣🤣
Omg I just had the same itch last week! It was nerve wracking but fun. I will say that one side was so much more difficult for me to do. It still came out beautifully!
Like her no fuss talk; but straight on to the job.
Love her. You go girl ❤
I DID THIS. I followed your video and cut my own hair, I have straight asian hair so it was easy to follow your video. Thank you for sharing this tutorial, I've saved this video for future cuts when my hair grows out ♥
I did it! You made it so easy to understand. Thank you. I needed a trim but couldn’t afford a salon.
You're a genius! Couldn't have been easier and I've never loved a trim more! I hate going to the salon because I always leave disappointed. Now I save money and time! Thank you!
Doing this right now! ♡♡
I used to get my hair cut at the salon like every 8 weeks, I got the jennifer Anniston in the early 00's pixie cuts, diagonal wedge etc. So i watched my hair get cut a lot, and started cutting my friend's hair and then my own, now having youtube videos to follow makes it even easier! ❤
I tried this and it worked, i love the result, thank you so much ❤️
Edit: just wanted to add that my hair is thin and it's a mix of wavy and curly
Did this video last night, I’m innnnn love with my new hair cut, thank you !! I’ve been growing out a blunt cut hair cut and this has been a game changer ❤❤❤
I tried, and I succeeded, and I love it. It only takes a few minutes . Thank you so much 😍😍
I tried it today, and it worked very well!! Thank you so much.
I wished I could give you more than just one like for this video. I use it every time I cu my hair since the lockdown. I too have very thick hair and was often disappointed with salon cuts. Many thanks 🙏🏽
I used your tutorial last november 2023 and now about to cut my hair again fast forward 8 months! thank you❤
Finally somebody who breaks it down so easy. Thank you!!!❤
Question: when you do the sections in the back are they the same direction as the first ones she does? Or what direction do you make the part in
Amazing, I followed the steps and for my surprise it worked. BTW I chopped my hair for the first time
Thank you
Did it on 2 of my sisters. Both of them love it. Easiest laser haircut process with great results
I have been searching for a DYI tutorial that makes sense and actually shows it in the video. Thank you. 2 thumbs up ❤
I really enjoyed watching your channel a few years ago when I was into make up.
Oh my gosh, I’m so honored and thankful for you!!! 🥰
I have curly hair but I prefer to wear it straight and I really wanted layers so I followed your tutorial and I am sooo happy with how it came out, thank you
I tried it. I liked it, but was skeptical since this is the first time I cut my own hair. I just would’ve liked cutting a little more. ❤ thank you 😊
This was the most straightforward instructional video for layers. Thank you so much! You just saved me $100!
Oh my god!! You were right it feels wayyyyy lighter!!!
I just did it impulsively, never expected it to turn out this way!!!
THANK YOU!!!
Just cut a little to start and work from there
Awesome! I'm so glad it worked out for you and I tried to make it as simple as possible with just hair ties and scissors
I did it yesterday and it ended fine! just take your time selecting parts properly and cut little by little. also if you are really not sure, I put leave in conditioner on hair I'm planning to cut and then I let it down, so I was able to see the difference ykyk hope I explained it properly 💀
I tried this and it's the best tutorial I've followed. Thank you!
Glad it helped!
