  • At the time of buying the Eufy Solar Panel, I did wonder what exactly the £50 was getting me, a small 2.6w panel didn't seem worthy of the time tag.
I decided to source a generic waterproof Flexible solar panel for around £9 to see how it compared against the Eufy one, purely from a cost effective point of view.
    Let the battle commence...

The test appears biased given that the eufy solar panel was having to recharged a deeply discharged battery (9%) which meant it had to charge the more stressed battery slowly. A more representative test would be to have both panel charge cameras that are in their optimal battery level.

Useful, thanks. I’m looking at buying a eufy setup and was also looking at various panels which are somewhere in the middle pricewise. Some seem to look identical to eufy’s (although may not be when they arrive of course!). Would be great to get an update in the comments as to whether your panel has been reliable and has charged well over the last year.

Hi. The panel has performed very well indeed, keeping the battery topped up to 100%, only dipping to 80% during the winter months and shorter days. 2 keys to note, 1) make sure the silicone seal around the USB connector is tight to prevent water damage 2) Optimize the panel position, I adjusted it so that it was angled better and south facing. Both the Eufy and non-standard panels are good at what they do. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

The flexible panel does have more surface area and can produce more amps than Eufy’s panel. I’m sure one can get the weather proving usb covers elsewhere.

Agree with the bigger surface, the point of the video is mainly focused on comparing the price point. I have both panels setup and they both work well to this day, never had to manually recharge any cameras, especially over the winter months.
