eufy cameras tend to have a sleeve-like enclosure design on many of their products. there was a “teardown “ instructional on how to physically disable the microphone by sliding it out after removing a friction bezel so you can finally reach the connector to unplug it. wyze has a similar enclosure style with a slideout and top seal on their outdoor wireless cameras.

Really helpful video. The battery on our Eufy E40 just died (just two months after the 1 year warranty was up). So, I'll see if I can get into it and replace the battery

On the older eufyCam Solo Pro (model T8131x) non-solar model, just remove the four rear screws (must pull up the bottom corners of the rubber cover to access the two bottom screws) then at the front, pry between the white case and the black bezel (if that's what you want to call it) until they separate. You'll see a black o-ring seal. I exchanged the lens (due to moisture on the inside of the exterior glass) from a parts donor camera. The trickiest part of that is to release the big ribbon cable at the horizontal board end by flipping the black part of the connector up from its rear facing edge. Note that the connector at the other end of the ribbon releases differently. Its black part slides out rather than flipping up. Once you get to the front (vertical) board, release the lens cable plug, remove two screws, then pull the lens assembly straight out. There are alignment pins. If all you do is exchange the lens assembly, once put back together, the unit should be back on line if that was the status when you unplugged the battery.

I assume this happened within the 1 year warranty? Otherwise it is highly likely Eufy would not have provided a replacement. I had an experience where Eufy did just that. My doorbell camera malfunctioned right after the year mark! For the price of these cameras you’d expect better support and a longer warranty. As of today Eufy has refused to do anything about my situation. Buyers beware!

1:21 I had my iPhone X sitting near the sink while I was washing some dishes and accidentally splashed some water into the counter. Three drops of water hit the phone; two on the screen and one drop landed right on the seam the between the bezel and screen right above the front facing camera/Face ID. I didn’t think anything of it because it was, at the very least, supposed to be water resistant, so I kept washing. Afterwards, I picked the phone up to wipe it off and in doing so, pushed on the screen which caused air to bubble up through the drop of water at the top of the phone. I wiped it off but any time I pushed on the screen water would spurt out. I turned the phone off and because I’d just ordered a new battery for it, literally like that night or the night before, I opened the phone up to let it air dry. When I got the screen off, it was obvious the seal in that spot was probably never fully seated because the adhesive seal and the top probably 1/4 of the inside of the phone was covered in dust. I dabbed up as much of the moisture as I could see then left it open to air dry until the new battery showed up a couple of days later. Thankfully, for the most part, the phone was fine afterwards, but Face ID never worked again after that.

We have the S 40 Solar Camera our first one had to be replaced in the first few months the replacement we have now is working however we have to bring it into the house every so often and recharge it today it said camera off-line so I took it off the garage and brought it in the house and I was thinking it needed recharged it’s cold and we had a few overcast cloudy days I was thinking that’s probably what it was however I noticed to the right and to the left of the lens where the lights are those compartments are full of water.I think it’s over a year and a half now so we own it Eufy’s not gonna make it right. I guess I’ll have to buy another one we depend on the entire Eufy system around our property and I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to not have to pay a monthly bill.
