As a Spurs fan, im excited watching him figure out the game and play. As soon as he figures out a post game and cut down on 3s, hes gonna take a bigger leap. And dont worry about the lack of primetime games. Its just the Spurs curse and has always been like that. • @wiisportsmatt9775

also a spurs fan, I think his 3pt to Post Scoring ratio is the spurs playing the long game in his development. He’s ofc 7’4 so i feel like the logic is as he gets older and his body gets stronger the post game will come easier and more quickly for him. So allowing him to develop his shot creating and deep jump-shooting in these early years will only make him more unstoppable several years down the line when he’s more mature physically and mentally. The reason why i think the spurs are doing this on purpose is because of the Sochan experiment last season when they played him as a point guard to speed up the development of areas where he was lacking

We should also mention that that his three was not falling against the Clippers, and yet no one would argue that he didn't have a monstrous game.
Also, on the topic of his three, he 1) had an incredibly slow start, only shooting 20ish percent in his first few games, but has averaged near 40ish percent since then - if you just watch him, his shot is clean. He can't attack the paint like Giannis or Embiid, because the amount of muscle required to consistently charge down, which has led to those two players becoming injury prone, would take someone as tall as Wemby out of the league in five years.
All that being said, I may be biased, but all the discourse on the next face of the league confuses me when the answer is that straightforward.

His 3 point percentage doesn’t really account for the fact that he takes a lot of threes from well behind the line, and is also doing step backs, pulls ups, side steps, etc. At 7’3 I would be impressed if he was only at 30%. Cuz most guys his size will just stand in the corner and wait for kick outs or strictly pick and pop. But yet he’s actually above average playing like he’s Steph Curry. We all heard the stories of people like Shaq saying their hands were just too big to shoot a basketball properly, but clearly not an issue for people like Boban, Kahwai and Victor.

While I think you can easily say wemby is playing like a top 10 player right now, that doesn't necessarily make him a top 10 player. We saw how earlier this season people made a big deal about his first few weeks and how he didn’t have the year 2 jump right away. If he is still playing this well at the end of the season and his team is a play-in team, then it's definitely reasonable to say he's top 10, then.

@@radiologicphysicist1083 me making a top 10 list of players won't prove anything to you, as more than likely you will disagree on some of the names. Not to mention that the point of my previous comment wasn't saying wemby isn't top 10, but that just as easily as he's had arguably his best month of his career as an nba player. What happens if in January or February he ends up having his worst? What if kawhi comes back and is immediately averaging 30/6/5 with great defense? What if AD gets back to the production from early this season? Does he drop out of the top 10? That's my point, many things can happen from now until the season ends.

My prediction is Spurs play conservatively the next year or 2 with big trades. Not to say they do nothing with all their picks but when Wemby is more seasoned,
Strong, and up for his extension they will move Sochan/Vassell or whoever becomes too expensive to Then get stars or cap space. I think that’s their strategy.d

The problem with the top 10 conversation is that people only take the offensive side of the game... like it was more important than defence. But if we take account on both side of the floor, he is top 10. I still see Jokic, Jiannis way ahead. Doncic but almost no D, Shay mainly offence, tatum probably and then.... 6/7/8/9/10 are pretty debatable
