Awesome video, Joe. I live in this area and all the locations you captured so beautifully are really familiar to me. Shinjuku in the rain is a great place for photography. Enjoy the rest of your time here.
Haven't caught up w/ you in a long time... but nothing's changed - still shooting some of the best images around. Love your color, your framing, and relaxed almost say anything photo vlogs. Cheers........
Legit intro really set the tone and had me straight back in Tokyo. I love night time rain shoots, rug up in warm clothes, eat food 😂 and hopefully get some keepers too.
I already said it in the private questionnaire...but I just need to say it again... But Joe you are such an inspiration! To just GO OUT and SHOOT pictures in every weather condition and every time of the day.. thanx man, really!
It's been raining heavily here in Bangkok every day, and this is the dry season. Love the colours in this, the warmer colour bold against the cooler blacks. Gives that feeling of a city continuing to pulsate despite the rain.
Incredible intro/edit!!! Great job Joe. Thank you so much for all of your passion and insight, your positive enthusiasm has affected countless people around the WORLD.!! keep up the great work. Thank you so much. A long time follower and fan from Canada. (p.s. I am finally going to Tokyo this spring, and you were a direct influence) Thanks again. Ill be looking for trains.👍👍👍🙂🙂🙂
Great video Joe! According to Reggie Ballesteros (@Reggiebphoto), Fujifilm recommends leaving the hot shoe cover on as water can seep in and cause issues with your EVF. At least that was his experience with an XT camera.
Haha I was reminded of that clip as soon as this video started 🔥 hard to top! Love seeing Tokyo in this weather, it was blue skies the whole time on my recent trip, which is nice but I was wanting some of this ☔️
Such a great video! Visually stunning, the photos are all bangers, and that intro is sooo good! Really looking forward to the upcoming nature hike videos!
Very cool video. Most definitely the rain, the lights, the people and being at night gave it a very good mood since all photos look awesome. The intro was fire man!
Another great video Joe! Every time I got so much motivation to go out for a photo walk! Hope within the next weeks you’re still planing a Meetup here in Tokyo ! Keep up the good work!
BEAUTIFUL!!! I was there in winter of 1992 in the rain shots but I was using film that I shot about 192 rolls, but I came home with 300 rolls if film shooting in Tokyo, and Kamakura, and Had to buy more film there - Still it was worth it.... And still waiting to go back there again.... for more shooting Film, & Digital. - I do not have the cabinets that you mentioned but have seen them, But I do use Reusable Silica Gel that I use my oven to reheat them from Red back to Blue setting, and I check them every 6 to 8 months. Thank You 😀😀😀⛩🎞🎞📸📸
That opening cut was outstanding ... It was like I was watching a Netflix action movie. Can you direct the video of when you were I'm NZ. Great stuff as always
Beautifully done, really needed this for Monday inspiration. Interested to see what comes next, and how you handle Chris in his literal fighting form up a mountain. Would love to see one or two of the more documentary style vids that you made previously in Japan, but I realise those must be a lot more work and planning. Wish you all the best, go get yourselves som curry ramen when the winter cold hits!
Awesome video @joeallam! I'll in Tokyo the next week and so and will be doing a lot of street photography and shoot some videos for my channel probably around Shibuya, Shinjuku..etc Let's see if i can bump into you and Elly on the Tokyo streets!
Agree on the X-H2S, it’s the best camera released in 2022. Bought me back to Fujifilm along with great lenses like 23 1.4 WR, 56 1.2 WR and 18 1.4 WR. The X-H2S is so good, I’m considering a second body.
The rain is by far the best for those photos, a great video guys, plenty of rain here Elly, but again very mild, al good, enjoy guys, and well done both of you.
Never thumbed up any faster just because of that intro music! Also thanks for answering the question regarding file transfer on the X-H2S Joe 🙏🏻 Seems like a SD card to Lightning adapter still makes for a better UX experience 😅
That won’t work for me unfortunately, as my videos are saved to CFExpress which brings extra benefits elsewhere. The lightning port is still only USB2.0 speeds as well, which is shocking for 2022.
Can't believe you kept Ellie out in the rain for 5 hours, poor girl hehehe. Love how easy your transfer is, my Sony is a bit of an adventure - I need to talk sweetly with it before it will work!
Regarding the dehumidifier cabinets. I'm not going out in the rain for most shooting, but they are worth it due to the humidity in the Japanese summer. Don't want to risk a fungus infection appearing somewhere in a camera or lens. Mines setup to maintain 45% (I'm a bit cautious of going lower than that because you risk making rubber brittle.) This weekend, I got myself a X-H2 and XF56 1.2 WR. So, I needed to dig up a 67mm size protector filter from my stash of filters. Unfortunately, my 67mm ones hadn't been stored in the dehumidifier, instead in normal storage over a period of about 2 years I think. Yep, it was dirty looking and impossible to clean! So, off to the shop to buy a new lens protector filter. So, yeah, worth having the cabinet if longer term settled here. As for heavy duty dehumidify-ing. I'd probably not use the cabinet for that. Instead, just get a small plastic box, that can be sealed, and then put some of the those large silica gel bag things you can also get from Yodobashi/Bic/Amazon etc.
What about a rechargeable small dehumidifier to put with your gear in a small space? About 20 bucks, I think? Also, I second the other person’s recommendation about using a lens hood. I find it drastically reduces how often you have to wipe off the front of the lens.
Love your street photography Joe. I am a wildlife photographer and always use a lens hood. Any reason why you are not using one especially in the rain?
I'm intrigued why you switched from x-t5 to x-h2s. Was it just the faster/easier photo/video switching, or do you not trust the weather sealing in the x-t5 as much? Also, epic intro on this one!!!
Because I was vlogging on the X-H2S as well it’s much faster to switch between modes and has the flippy screen. I think weather is likely better too, but can’t confirm.
Really liked the video & images. I thought about getting Fuji camera but seen alot of RUclipsrs saying auto focus has issues. What's your view? Why they coming to that conclusion?
I had the same isssue with my X-H2s viewfinder fogging up on a recent stormy-weather trip. It’s seemed fine since then… Noticed any linger impact on your camera?
Always love your contents and photos! Been following you for quite some time. Thank you for your work and relentless enthusiasm for what you do. Just one thing though: seeing your cameras without the hotshoe cover on in the rain scares me! 🤣 i saw a video by Reggie Ballesteros and he was talking about water will get into the camera if the hotshoe is exposed.
Hey Joe. I'll be purchasing the new fujifilm film X-T5 this december. As someone who likes to keep it compact and versatile, i want to pair it with the new sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 X for fuji. My question is : Is this lens from Sigma compatible with the new X-T5 40mpx sensor ?
I’m planning it! I actually filmed it on my last day in New York a couple months back, but didn’t get any camera B-Roll/product shots and it all felt a bit rushed so I scrapped it. Will re-film in Japan though
Yep, but that’s perfect for quick images I want to share to Instagram stories/Twitter etc. Videos don’t resize though, so I set my “Story/Vertical” custom setting to 1080. Everything else of course gets imported as normal to my Mac.
Hi joe allam love your video so please can you suggest me any one or two manual lens from 7artisans and TTartisan or any lens for my fujifilm xt200 camera. I am beginner street photography any suggestion will be helpful to me.
I see you having trouble with the Fujifilm app to transfer photos from your camera to your phone. You are using the square shaped box that lets you select tiny thumbnails from the app before they get transferred to your phone. You should choose the wide, narrow bar above it instead. It connects, for me, almost every time in the first try with my X-T3. Instead of showing you all of the photos available and you check them off before transferring, the select and transfer control moves over to your camera. The screen is larger so you are less likely to pick duds. You can see your photos one by one on your camera screen and click OK to transfer a photo to your phone, or move to the next one. The transfer is really quick. It is far more reliable, and my preferred method since I discovered the difference. Maybe you k ow already and don’t like it, but if you didn’t, give it a try.
Does the phone app import the photos in full quality ? My beginner level camera from 2017 was importing the photos to my phone with a reduced quality and took a time to import so it basically had no function for me.
@@joeallam Here’s a virtual high five: 🤚 Also picked up your Urban Stone 2 presets during the Black Friday sale. Hope that helps towards a hot bath in an onsen after that cold shooting session in the rain.
That’s a fair comment. I must admit, the files definitely feel significantly cleaner to work with in Lightroom. I can always grit them up a bit if I wish though.
That opening sequence though! 🤩
Soooo glad to see you both back in Japan. Just something about it makes your Japan videos my favorite.
Great work on that intro! Good stuff

beautiful video and photos
the beginning of the video is exciting, spectacular shooting.💯💯
great Joe
Just exporting my own excitement via my camera 😬
That intro was epic!!
Always loved your videos, but this intro even put it up a notch! Looks right out of a movie that I just need to watch.

Great pics Joe! Could really feel the vibes of rainy tokyo through the video!
The colors of the video and pictures are so GOOD!!!❤❤❤
4:05 The hot shoe is not water resistant. Water will sink in from the contacts. It's better to put the hot shoe cover on.

Import from the Fuji app reduces the file size/resolution right? Is it still like that? I just import via SD card directly to my Mac.
Yep, but that’s perfect for quick images I want to share to Instagram stories/Twitter etc. Videos don’t resize though, so I set my “Story/Vertical” custom setting to 1080. Everything else of course gets imported as normal to my Mac.
You have to connect through Wi-Fi on the iPhone settings then it’ll connect on the app.
get yourself some dehumidifier packs for about ¥700. I just chuck them in my camera bag over the humid summer and they seem to work okay

The new 27mm f2.8 is a great lens for $150 from TT artisan

It’s called a dry box and you can get a small one for less than 100€…bought mine some years ago on uk ebay for 85€.

I didn't really, ha! Used a spare cloth we found at the house to dry it off every so often, but it got pretty wet to be fair.
