"Japan _always_ delivers on the autumn". Yeah, if you happen to be exactly at the right place at the right time. I live in Canada and planning a trip to Japan with work and other constraints has to be done quite a bit in advance. In 2022, I was fortunate enough to be able to go fo 3 weeks at the end of October and the beginning of November. Based the climatic averages, we should have seen autumn colours in the mountains of Shikoku, but this year was abnormally hot. We barely saw any fall foliage. Not to mention that we brought a lot of clothing that wasn't appropriate for the temperatures we actually got.
You ought to approach Japan Airlines and the Tourist Board(s) with the photo of the crane, it is wonderful! A couple of times I saw a photo pop up and before spotting the caption thought, “Fuji have nailed that film simulation…” only to see it was from your partner’s film camera!
Yeah, I'm always open to licensing my images to companies and they often reach out directly, however it's quite surprising that a lot of them don't have budget to offer 😔
Man, how can you not love Japan during autumn?! I went to Japan several times now and my favorite season is Autumn by a mile. It’s not too cold and the colors! 😍 For me it’s always a pleasure to see the Japanese people enjoying their country as much as we do. Even the go to travel campaign was founded to help struggling hospitalities during covid. In Germany we are not really into exploring our country. We say: the best thing to do is to go to an airport and leave. Only 10 months until I’m back in Japan! Enjoy your time and keep them coming, can’t wait for the next one!
Can’t believe how many times you’ve been to Japan 🙌🏽 so many places to see and just in Tokyo, it’s mind blowing! Love the colors and shot of the crane🤍
Hi guys enjoying Japan, Autumn, enjoy your meetup, and thanks for the work and sharing, keep going, its warming up next weekend, be safe and well, might get to Japan in 2024, some big trips next year, catch you later.
A nice crispy beer after a long hike, ain't nothing like it. Really enjoying the places you're taking us! Kind of curious to know what you have planned for after Japan.
Absolutely! If I'm honest, I don't really have any plans made for next year yet. Still playing catch-up from the effects of covid on finances and work etc. so we'll see how it goes!
Asia in Autumn is incredible beautiful. We did went hiking in Seoul, there as well is directly aside of the city a national park and it was awesome. Thanks for taking us with you to this trip, awesome scenery and the beer was very well deserved. Cheers mate.
Yeah man, I love the variety of the seasons! Really desperate to get to Korea one day. I imagine it to be similar to Japan in many ways, yet entirely different in others.
@@joeallam Same but different, Seoul is interesting and worth a trip, curious to see how you like it. To me Japan still is my favourite country to go, China also is awesome, HK streets are, well, were awesome back in 2011. Not sure how its over there nowadays. have a nice weekend
In this video specifically Elly's photos blew me away. Hard to say if it's due to the fact she shot on film, but they look incredible. Also Joe's crane shot is perfection in a photo.
What a chill and pleasant hike. Always love the autumn scene in Japan. Question for Elly: any tips to clean a pair of white sneakers after hiking/daily use? I love my white sneakers, but I constantly fear getting stains that I can't get rid of.
Cheers! I'll take on the cleaning question as I do it more frequently than Elly does haha! I let it dry, then brush off the dust/dirt, then I use an "oxy action" cleaning powder brand such as Vanish, and lightly rub in with a toothbrush and warm water. Then I'll use something like The Pink Stuff (not sure how available that is to find internationally) as a surface cleaner afterwards. Some shoes I can then put in the washing machine as well, on a delicate cycle.
Controversial opinion, but I rate autumn waaaaayy higher in Japan than the spring. It seems to last a lot longer as well as having more variety wherever you visit.
Ahhh, a Friday morning in Tokyo, and I see Joe dropped a video overnight. Realised how often I've walked that route in Okutama, recognising all those houses, bridges, even some of the rock formations 🤣
What happens if you ignore the biggest racistic country and visit Japan in summer? I'm viking, I have tats. And I dress light. I swim without shirt. Will yakuza k1ll me, or will the racists just look at me? I really want to visit the old samurai monuments, museums. And of course the blossom wonders.

Not a crane!
I agree with Fall being the best season in Japan. So much to do and the weather is so right.
Well I've booked a trip in Feb so HOPE IT'S GOOD.
Stunning shots, so beautiful
I've been there three times, all in Nov/Dec, the scenery as well as the temps are ideal for me.
I love the vibe of your videos -- the moods, images, feelings
Always wanted to take the train out to Okutama and walk around the little village and check out the surroundings.
Takes a while to get there, but definitely worth it!

Cheers man! Just had a peak at your channel and instantly hooked - surprised I hadn't come across it before.
@@joeallam Oh! Amazing hahah. Glad you like my stuff! Hopefully I'll be out in Japan in the next few months :)
Great video! My fiance and I went there last month and brought my RED camera. It was beautiful. I'll post some cinematic footage in the coming days.

I hear that from so many people and feel it myself too. There's nowhere I've been quite like Japan 🙌

Yeah the film stuff came out great! There were also a few shots that unfortunately didn't come out successfully, but that's just how it is with film.

Stunning views. So representative of the last few days I have spent here in Japan. Thanks for sharing and giving us new inspiring places to visit ;)
I've been to Japan during cherry blossom season, but not in Autumn, looks ao picturesque ☺

Haha brilliant! I'd happily hike it again, or find some other routes further into the forests to explore. It's so beautiful!
Oh man, what a STUNNER of a video! So many epic shots and those fall colours are gorgeous!!!! ❤❤❤
Cheers dude! Absolutely love the seasonal difference in Japan - so much variety!
wonderful video, wonderful areas and beautiful colors. PS. the beer looked very good. 🖐🖐
Many thanks! Yeah, that beer was exceptionally good. Finished it quicker than I could capture any further clips on it haha
wait till we find out that Joe’s been shooting on the new x100vii ! for weeks 😃
Haha! These are all on my X-H2S - I still haven't even used an X100V, although I do have my X100F with me that I've been using a little bit.
i love xpan ii
Hi Joe. Great watch as always. Where did Lewis get that khaki green utility vest from? Thanks Dave
It's not a crane you saw, it's an egret. You don't see cranes in the Tokyo area.
Hi Joe, the photo of the crane, is that your banger photo? Great pic!
happy to be one of the first ten viewers 😂
I'm always happy to give a thumbs down to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc posts!!! 😂
