How's everyone doing? 😬 Since moving to Japan at the end of last year, it's been a chaotic year! I think naturally, I've focused a lot on settling in, building community etc., but I've also had more commercial work than ever, which has been great! Looking forward to getting back to more frequent uploads in 2025! ✌ Happy New Year, everyone!
I agree! It’s always hard to say everything I want to in front of the camera, yet at the same time, it’s something I’ve always prided myself on with my channel that I’m not always behind a desk talking afterwards. Glad you enjoyed it!
Glad it’s helpful! I’ve been to most of these multiple times previously, so there’s always something to explore, especially as the weather changes throughout the year!
I so need to take a trip to Tokyo , you always remind me Joe how much I loved my time there .... its great having a camera you enjoy , it really inspires you to shoot.
Thanks, man! Been a busy year since moving here, but recently feeling much more settled and looking forward to more frequent uploads in 2025! Happy New Year!
Loved the video Joe! Man, the colors of the Hasselblad look really really good. Excited to see you feature it more in some videos. To be fair, you need to return to Asabudai Hills with a wider lens. Might be my favorite view point of them all… :):)
Your instagram post led me to this video :) Pretty cool spots, I went to many of them but I didn't know about the Azabu one, which looks pretty cool! Thx for sharing this, it will be on the list for my next Tokyo photo session :)
Well, this is what this camera with a 100 megapixel sensor is made for, it gives a wider view and a lot of digital information with depth that can be recorded especially for cityscapes shots it brings a lot of definition with clarity. Yes, cityscapes, landscapes, and other huge vistas can be obtained with a detailed information. I am noticing the absence of your lady for quite sometime is she still in your circle? Cheers and happy new year 2025.
Hah, amazing to see carrot tower in this. Our company (based in ikejiri) always has our celebrations/functions there on anniversaries and the like. Great video, chill and relaxing to watch as usual.
Man, this video makes me want to sell my kidney so I can get a Hasselblad, a nice lens and book a trip to Tokyo! Also, Not gonna lie... I've been thinking of doing videos where I go on photo walks and just do the voice over at home and your video kinda inspired me to do that... now all I have to do is actually film it! lol
Great photos! Love the way you edit. If you want a longer focal length but don’t wanna spend too much, I’d recommend an adapter and a Mamiya or Pentax 645 lens. Personally I really like the Pentax 645 150mm f3.5. It’s small and light and sharp. Maybe not modern Hasselblad sharp, but still pretty sharp. (Though I’m using it on a 51mp GFX, so I don’t know what it’s like on 100mp.)
That’s a great tip, thank you! I haven’t explored much with adapted lenses yet. I’m a bit unaware of options to explore with this sensor coverage, so I’ll check out the Pentax ones. Cheers!
With a longer lens you may wanna check out the "I-Link Town Observation Deck" in Ichikawa someday. It's on my list still too. If lucky you can get Fuji and the Skytree together on a photo. Cool video!
An excellent video, thx! You are a natural at vo pacing 👏 The camera and lens still look beautiful to me. I now own a Hasselblad 250mm lens which works really well on my GFX 100s...possibly offensive to some H owners. I went the Fuji route because of the lack of long lenses and the incompatibility with Capture one. I’ve also heard that the H support is poor?
I found Skytree obervation levels also has dim lighting inside at dusk / night so reflections from the windows are reduced but still have to be careful what angles you use

I liked the voice over, no need to hear random noises and you can articulate better what you are thinking.
I agree! It’s always hard to say everything I want to in front of the camera, yet at the same time, it’s something I’ve always prided myself on with my channel that I’m not always behind a desk talking afterwards. Glad you enjoyed it!
Lovey video Joe, was also great to bump into you in Tokyo last month ☺
Very enjoyable watch 👌. The voice over works too. Fascinating city , great views I’m glad Japan is working for you, commercially too. Happy New Year 🎉
Thank you! Glad the voice over worked out well! It’s definitely been a very commercial year which I’m glad for. Happy New Year to you too!
Nice viewpoint guide and nice cam Joe!
Shibuya, Shibuya, Shibuya! Definitely a fan of the voiceover and amazing views. You made that X2D sing.
Videos like this are priceless for people new to Tokyo. I'll be heading to a few of these soon I imagine.
Glad it’s helpful! I’ve been to most of these multiple times previously, so there’s always something to explore, especially as the weather changes throughout the year!
Looks like a great time in Tokyo with the hassy! loved that you did voice over on this one.
Fantastic video with true passion for art. Great work, Joe.

Absolutely! Certain cameras just call out to me and make me want to grab them!
Hasselblad images are stunning.. loved it so much I got both the X2D and 907x bodies.
Oh.. and those 1st two shots from Shibuya had my old apartment building (next to Mori Tower)! I miss living there.
Great video too btw. I like the voice over.
Amazing video as always
Thanks for always watching and supporting! 🙏
Love seeing Tokyo & Japan through your eyes. Hope you had a great Christmas, and look forward to seeing more of your discoveries of Japan in 2025! 🙂
Thank you! 🙏 It’s been a great year exploring deeper parts of Japan. Hoping I can get more time to share it on RUclips next year too!
Tocho's observation deck remains the best for me. Really great views of fuji san!
Missed your work sir hope all is well happy holidays 🎉❤😊

Nice selection, my absolute favorite viewpoint in Japan so far is the Yokohama landmark tower,I try to visit it every time when I am.around Tokyo 🎉
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. Many thanks Joe.

Ahh that’s great! Hope you have a great trip next time!
Brings back fond memories of my few trips to Tokyo a few years ago, when I worked for Diamaru Australia. Stunning shots.

I appreciated the voice-over because it did not sound like a "voice-over." Loose, conversational, like we were chatting. Not easy to do. Nicely done.
We're looking forward to your 2025 adventures and uploads !
Cheers! How do you get these emojis?!

Great video, chill and relaxing to watch as usual.
Gonna put some.of those places I havent been to on my list to visit next time!
Hope you have a great trip! There are so many observation decks to explore, it’s always interesting!
I miss Tokyo
It’s always calling… ☺️
How I miss Japan!

That’s a very versatile lens skirt, where can I find one please? The common ones are those attached to the lens and made of collapsible chunky rubber

Fantastic video Joe! Going to Japan in March/April 2025 and can’t wait. How do you compare the Hassy to the GFX 100S… just out of curiosity…
Enjoyed the video Joe, best wishes for 2025. 🏴
Thank you! Happy New Year to you too!

Ahh good to know! I haven’t actually been there past sunset yet. I was always worried the glass is too far from the barrier
For what’s it’s worth, I believe the Burj Khalifa is taller than the Tokyo SkyTree.
It is! But buildings and towers are recognised differently 🤓
