How's everyone doing? 😬 Since moving to Japan at the end of last year, it's been a chaotic year! I think naturally, I've focused a lot on settling in, building community etc., but I've also had more commercial work than ever, which has been great! Looking forward to getting back to more frequent uploads in 2025! ✌ Happy New Year, everyone!
My dream is for DJi/Hassie to license the Fuji hybrid viewfinder, and make an L-mount camera with it. Manual lenses with electronic contacts could also be far more affordable as a second line of lenses without giving a sense of compromise.
Glad it’s helpful! I’ve been to most of these multiple times previously, so there’s always something to explore, especially as the weather changes throughout the year!
I agree! It’s always hard to say everything I want to in front of the camera, yet at the same time, it’s something I’ve always prided myself on with my channel that I’m not always behind a desk talking afterwards. Glad you enjoyed it!
Two days late, but loved it. Really makes me want to go out and take some photos! Also happy to see the video on the x-pan. Definitely something out of my reach but looks incredible to use. Hopefully they send you a couple of lenses to play with so we can get more content with it.
I so need to take a trip to Tokyo , you always remind me Joe how much I loved my time there .... its great having a camera you enjoy , it really inspires you to shoot.
Loved the video Joe! Man, the colors of the Hasselblad look really really good. Excited to see you feature it more in some videos. To be fair, you need to return to Asabudai Hills with a wider lens. Might be my favorite view point of them all… :):)
Happy New Year Mate! Watched already days ago but couldn’t comment directly. I don’t know what happened but you cooked with that one! Loving the voice over, the shots and you on shibuya sky with the glow is such a good scene! 100/10! Seriously can’t wait for more in 2025 and happy to hear that you have a lot of of commercial work! Cheers mate!
Stunning images, as always, but then adding the magic of a Hasselblad 😍 I’d love to visit Tokyo and Japan 🇯🇵 Love the voiceover and wishing you the very best for 2025 🎉
Thanks, man! Been a busy year since moving here, but recently feeling much more settled and looking forward to more frequent uploads in 2025! Happy New Year!
Thanks for the good content all the year Joe, and thanks for bringing us around some nice shots. Hope i can make it in 2026 again to tokio, next year budget is tight, but would like to check some of those out. All the best for next year, cheers from currently Mexico mate.
Loved the vantage points you shared! I'll be back in February for a couple weeks, I might grab a train down to Osaka for an overnight. If you're free, it would be great to catch up.
Your instagram post led me to this video :) Pretty cool spots, I went to many of them but I didn't know about the Azabu one, which looks pretty cool! Thx for sharing this, it will be on the list for my next Tokyo photo session :)
Hah, amazing to see carrot tower in this. Our company (based in ikejiri) always has our celebrations/functions there on anniversaries and the like. Great video, chill and relaxing to watch as usual.
Don't forget if you choose a good hotel, you can get some good images from your room as well. On a good day, you can see Mt Fuji from Tokyo so a view in that direction is interesting as well.
Well, this is what this camera with a 100 megapixel sensor is made for, it gives a wider view and a lot of digital information with depth that can be recorded especially for cityscapes shots it brings a lot of definition with clarity. Yes, cityscapes, landscapes, and other huge vistas can be obtained with a detailed information. I am noticing the absence of your lady for quite sometime is she still in your circle? Cheers and happy new year 2025.
I like voice over it gives more free time for you to think what to say if was me I’ll bring up the background noise up a bit to make it feel we there with you… I went to Japan last march I use my Sony rx10 iv love my camera just love the 600m zoom.
Heading to Japan in May for my first ever visit! Really hoping I can manage to get a sunset timeslot for Shibuya Sky! I've looked into the passport idea and yeah, local access only I think.
An excellent video, thx! You are a natural at vo pacing 👏 The camera and lens still look beautiful to me. I now own a Hasselblad 250mm lens which works really well on my GFX 100s...possibly offensive to some H owners. I went the Fuji route because of the lack of long lenses and the incompatibility with Capture one. I’ve also heard that the H support is poor?
With a longer lens you may wanna check out the "I-Link Town Observation Deck" in Ichikawa someday. It's on my list still too. If lucky you can get Fuji and the Skytree together on a photo. Cool video!
I didnt even know lens skirts existed and what they were for! Vry informative video as always! May I ask what camera you used to film the video? Is it the Fujifilm X-H2S?
Great photos! Love the way you edit. If you want a longer focal length but don’t wanna spend too much, I’d recommend an adapter and a Mamiya or Pentax 645 lens. Personally I really like the Pentax 645 150mm f3.5. It’s small and light and sharp. Maybe not modern Hasselblad sharp, but still pretty sharp. (Though I’m using it on a 51mp GFX, so I don’t know what it’s like on 100mp.)
That’s a great tip, thank you! I haven’t explored much with adapted lenses yet. I’m a bit unaware of options to explore with this sensor coverage, so I’ll check out the Pentax ones. Cheers!
I found Skytree obervation levels also has dim lighting inside at dusk / night so reflections from the windows are reduced but still have to be careful what angles you use
Man, this video makes me want to sell my kidney so I can get a Hasselblad, a nice lens and book a trip to Tokyo! Also, Not gonna lie... I've been thinking of doing videos where I go on photo walks and just do the voice over at home and your video kinda inspired me to do that... now all I have to do is actually film it! lol
Great camera, great place for street shooting but who needs 100 mp for street except for big print pro artists and rich hobbyists. Kind of pointless gear voyericm. I have the same fun with similar results without gear envy.
So… hmm a hassle vs an iphone 15 pro max. I dont see the amazing photos valuing the price. Whats with the bruhaha, anyway. Not worth it even for a pro.

Videos like this are priceless for people new to Tokyo. I'll be heading to a few of these soon I imagine.
Glad it’s helpful! I’ve been to most of these multiple times previously, so there’s always something to explore, especially as the weather changes throughout the year!
Love seeing Tokyo & Japan through your eyes. Hope you had a great Christmas, and look forward to seeing more of your discoveries of Japan in 2025! 🙂
Thank you! 🙏 It’s been a great year exploring deeper parts of Japan. Hoping I can get more time to share it on RUclips next year too!
Shibuya, Shibuya, Shibuya! Definitely a fan of the voiceover and amazing views. You made that X2D sing.
Lovey video Joe, was also great to bump into you in Tokyo last month ☺
I liked the voice over, no need to hear random noises and you can articulate better what you are thinking.
I agree! It’s always hard to say everything I want to in front of the camera, yet at the same time, it’s something I’ve always prided myself on with my channel that I’m not always behind a desk talking afterwards. Glad you enjoyed it!

Always good to see you update your channel 😃 beautiful photos and I soooooo miss Japan!!
Cheers Kai! Hope to see you back here again sometime soon! Otherwise, I'll try and catch you in London in a few months!
I so need to take a trip to Tokyo , you always remind me Joe how much I loved my time there ....
its great having a camera you enjoy , it really inspires you to shoot.
Absolutely! Certain cameras just call out to me and make me want to grab them!
you inform and inspire . love your passion and vibe . ganbaro!
Looks like a great time in Tokyo with the hassy! loved that you did voice over on this one.
I love the Carrot Tower‘s name hahah😂✨
Also BIG YES to that cropped X-PAN style shot with the Tokyo Tower😤🤌
Loved the video Joe! Man, the colors of the Hasselblad look really really good. Excited to see you feature it more in some videos. To be fair, you need to return to Asabudai Hills with a wider lens. Might be my favorite view point of them all… :):)

Loved this style and pace of video. Some great shots in there!
Nice selection, my absolute favorite viewpoint in Japan so far is the Yokohama landmark tower,I try to visit it every time when I am.around Tokyo 🎉
Brings back fond memories of my few trips to Tokyo a few years ago, when I worked for Diamaru Australia. Stunning shots.
This video was phenomenal brother!
Very enjoyable watch 👌. The voice over works too. Fascinating city , great views I’m glad Japan is working for you, commercially too. Happy New Year 🎉
Thank you! Glad the voice over worked out well! It’s definitely been a very commercial year which I’m glad for. Happy New Year to you too!
Fantastic video with true passion for art. Great work, Joe.
Much appreciated! I just love being out with a camera every day!
Hasselblad images are stunning.. loved it so much I got both the X2D and 907x bodies.
Oh.. and those 1st two shots from Shibuya had my old apartment building (next to Mori Tower)! I miss living there.
Great video as always! Love the thoughtful voiceover approach too!
🔥 👊 🔥
Stunning images, as always, but then adding the magic of a Hasselblad 😍 I’d love to visit Tokyo and Japan 🇯🇵
Love the voiceover and wishing you the very best for 2025 🎉
Tocho's observation deck remains the best for me. Really great views of fuji san!
Really enjoyed the voiceover. Please do more! The photos were super too.
Missed your work sir hope all is well happy holidays 🎉❤😊

Thank you for another beautiful video
I truly loved this video. Thank you so much! Many places I have never heard of that I will check out the next time I will go to the city.
Loved the vantage points you shared! I'll be back in February for a couple weeks, I might grab a train down to Osaka for an overnight. If you're free, it would be great to catch up.

Ahh that’s great! Hope you have a great trip next time!
loved the video + camera, never thought about using medium format lin this way
Amazing photos. I miss Tokyo. Hope to visit it again in the next couple of years and go to some of those spots.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. Many thanks Joe.
Hah, amazing to see carrot tower in this. Our company (based in ikejiri) always has our celebrations/functions there on anniversaries and the like.
Great video, chill and relaxing to watch as usual.
Nice viewpoint guide and nice cam Joe!
Great stuff Joe , more please ,happy new year
Don't forget if you choose a good hotel, you can get some good images from your room as well. On a good day, you can see Mt Fuji from Tokyo so a view in that direction is interesting as well.
Hit a couple of these on my recent trip. Now have a few more for the next trip!
Amazing video as always
Thanks for always watching and supporting! 🙏
Cool video with great views! Happy New Year 🎉

That’s a very versatile lens skirt, where can I find one please? The common ones are those attached to the lens and made of collapsible chunky rubber
Happy New Year ✨

Gonna put some.of those places I havent been to on my list to visit next time!
Hope you have a great trip! There are so many observation decks to explore, it’s always interesting!
Happy New Year !
Very Enjoyable Video :) Thank You :)
Always enjoy these Japan Vlogs. What brand of lens skirt was that in the video you were using?

Ahh good to know! I haven’t actually been there past sunset yet. I was always worried the glass is too far from the barrier
I miss Tokyo
It’s always calling… ☺️
How does it perform on the street? is it slow?
Fantastic video Joe! Going to Japan in March/April 2025 and can’t wait. How do you compare the Hassy to the GFX 100S… just out of curiosity…
Man, this video makes me want to sell my kidney so I can get a Hasselblad, a nice lens and book a trip to Tokyo! Also, Not gonna lie... I appreciated the voice-over because it did not sound like a "voice-over." Loose, conversational, like we were chatting. Not easy to do. Nicely done.
Thank you for such informative video. May I ask which floor is the Azabudai Hill cafe located please?
Enjoyed the video Joe, best wishes for 2025. 🏴
Thank you! Happy New Year to you too!
How I miss Japan!
"you can see Fuji on a clear day" :D
We're looking forward to your 2025 adventures and uploads !
Cheers! How do you get these emojis?!
Blad XCD 55mm ƒ/2,5 = 46 mm 24x36 angle of view equivalent.
The latest beta Photoshop has a new reflection "distraction removal" tool for shots taken through windows. MIght be worth checking out...
Great. Would have been nice to get some wide open portraits see how it looks. Everything at infinity kind of look the same on every camera…
Mit Photoshop kannst du Spiegelungen jetzt relativ einfach entfernen.
Why would anyone need a medium format camera for street photography, this is absurd....
just a promotional video.
“Never quite fast enough”
That why you could never shoot street on film. You’d be useless
