I trust you. Fair play for getting a Hasselblad and putting a very clear disclaimer front and centre. During your previous 200+ videos, you have established your integrity and getting a free camera does not compromise this in my opinion. Enjoy and always interested to hear your no-nonsense opinions on your new piece of kit

It is a legal requirement in most western countries including USA. Obviously no RUclipsr will say negative opinion about any big manufacturer, because they make more profit from them than from YT itself. And $14k camera is a good reward for the video, don't you think? If he won't like it, he can sell it.

I don't own a Fujifilm anymore but I still watch you, the Hasselblad is recognition for all the work you've put into the videos you've made over the years. People will talk and no matter what you say otherwise someone will always be negative. Enjoy your Hasselblad and I'll continue watching no matter which camera you have in your hand. I've kept watching for you and the really good information you provide, not because of the camera in your hand, cheers!

I think reaching out to the company first before making a negative comment in your video is very reasonable. Love the video and have no problem at all with you using a camera given to you by a company. In fact, I'm happy for you! You're very honest and transparent about it all and you've built up a level of trust with your community over the years. I LOVED seeing your mum knitting!

First of all, I really loved your shots. Especially how you used the metal railing and pane of glass to compose.
But I gotta be honest, this is probably the first time I've gotten jealous of a sponsorship, ever. The X2D and 55mm lens is my absolute dream setup. As it stands, the only way for me to afford that any time soon would be selling all my other gear I've worked hard to acquire and that, I just can't do. I'd sell half of it, but that sadly isn't enough.
It is so cool to see that Hasselblad does this and gave you the camera. I hope you use it more in the future and share more of your thoughts on it as time goes on.

I’ve just got back from three weeks in Japan, having visited many of the same places you went to. It’s incredible to see how you have a different view on the same things that I photographed. That tiny little fire station on Miyajima also caught my eye! I was travelling with a Sony 7R3 with 12 to 24 mm F2.8 GM lens and the original 24 to 70 GM lens. I used the 12 to 24 mm almost exclusively and I’ve returned with almost 8500 42 megapixel photos which are going to be a complete nightmare to deal with. I can’t imagine how it would be with 100 megapixel images!

I haven’t read through all the comments, so maybe someone else has had the same idea. However, I loved the xpan crop shots that you took. Whilst it seems ridiculous to use such an amazing tool to crop to xpan, it gives you the required resolution to scale the panoramic images. I’d love to see you use it more to experiment with the digital xpan format in your genre. I could see you adding a whole new dimension to your body of work. Keep up the great work!

I had a clutch of one in HK and was impressed. The weight is offset for me by the way it fits my hands. A pleasure to grab and hold. They wouldn't loan it me to try in my genre but I spotted a downside you likely wouldn't have noticed. If you wear glasses then the viewfinder size is so large (it truly is fantastic) that you can't see the edges where the information is. Only the F3 HP of old addresses this well (that I've found).

Roman! 🙂 Congrats on another engaging, very helpful, very honest and down-to-earth review. But let's cut to the chase, shall we? Your mom is great! 🙂 She seems to be a calm, grounding, and quite fashionable traveling companion, nonchalantly doing her thing in the background while you vlog away. My warm regards to her. Fun that she's such a key component to your recent videos. As to the camera: a) love how you pull brilliant shots out of a massive, empty hall with the seemingly simple move of using the handrail - we can all take pro tips like this and incorporate them into our daily routines, learning again how to "see" a scene and leverage what's available; b) unfortunate that the Hasselblad is slow, clunky and perhaps not the best tool for the street stuff - yes, it's too beautiful for words, but I can't see lugging that box around just for the extra MP; c) would be helpful (but not absolutely necessary for clarity) if you'd show the actual color science created by the H first and then any edits you've made in LR - just feels a step was skipped, and I've found it so miraculous in the recent H marketing campaigns by influencers (who received free gear) to see the gorgeous colouring produced by this high-tech piece of kit. Thanks for the work you put in - you've got credibility and charm, which makes for entertaining, informative videos. Over and out.

Firstly congratulations on getting a high enough profile that you now have a high end manufacturer sending you cameras and wanting you to try them etc. I don't think anyone who has followed you for a while would doubt your integrity because Hassleblad sent you product but there is always someone.
Secondly thanks for a review that feels properly real world, not going to buy the camera because it is (way too expensive) but food for thought when I win the lottery 😂

I am also shooting with an x t5 and love the system. I then bought an old gfx 50s and was amazed about the picture quality. But then I compared it to my x t5 and the differences were minor, so I thought it must be a psychological thing that I adore the medium format quality. But each time I shoot the gfx I’m absolutely stunned again. So there is something, richer colours, better microcontrast, I don’t know. Anyway i am glad owning both cameras and will keep them. I think its a mood thing wich to use. How is your experience?

Traditionally Hasselblad have always made cameras aimed at studio or tripod landscape use, and this camera gives the impression they haven't quite got the hang of making a camera with the ergonomics for prolonged hand held use. I don't know whether you've used any of the GFX cameras but they seem better in that respect, although I've only had a quick play with them in the Fujifilm showroom in Covent Garden.
The white balance seems a bit off in some of the photos, particularly the rainy or overcast ones.

I appreciate the disclaimer and completely trust your perspective; your integrity is well established. I also think it’s fair to give Hasselblad a chance to respond to any criticism-misinformation spreads so easily these days. Let’s be real: we’d all prefer people come directly to us with feedback so we have a chance to address it, if needed.
I currently own a Hasselblad X2D, and I absolutely LOVE it! Some say gear isn’t everything, but this camera gives me extra confidence thanks to the stunning images it produces, allowing me to focus more on composition.
13:14 ---->>> By the way, you might already know this, but you can press in on the dial below the power button to adjust the focus point. Then, you can move it up and down with that dial, and left and right with the one under the shutter button. Not exactly a joystick, but it’s a nice option!
P.S. I LOVE Japan. Tokyo is my favourite city. It is the closest city that matches my personality. The culture is beautiful, and it's just so damn calming.

Doesn’t matter what RUclips’s say… anyone who’s used this camera in a professional setting or as for a hobby will tell you it’s pretty much phenomenal. Are there there cameras that are faster better for specific jobs… absolutely. I’ve used the original x1d when it came out for my own wedding photos. Only to buy the x1dii 8 years later. I since sold the x1dii and acquired an x2d and 55v with my own cash. I’m not a pro anymore or do loads of client work although I do some paid gigs here and there. The camera is just IMO SECOND TO NONE. I like the gfx100ii when I rented it but it doesn’t have sole and is a bit boring to look at and use. Glad the x2d doesn’t have video, the internal storage is amazing, the image quality is mind blowing and it’s a whole different style of shooting. I have a second battery and while it does run out faster than other cameras, I shoot own with… I usually just power down the camera or have it set to power down after 3 min of not using it. I was in NYC and shot all day using one battery no real issues. But it’s good to have a spare if you need it.

First off, I'm kinda of the opinion that every one of us would jump at the opportunity to even use that camera, much less be given one under reasonable circumstances. Second, a parallel I think of in comparing this camera to others is akin to comparing different levels of headphones. Top quality headphones simply bring out more of the characteristics and nature of the music. This camera, even with any foibles associated with larger format instruments, by the nature of the larger sensor with the refined color science, does the same, bringing out great detail, nuance and character in whatever shot one takes. It would be a pleasure "adapting" my street style to get the best out of such a fine camera

Amazing review, thank you for sharing this!
In just two days, I’ll be celebrating my 40th birthday, and I’ve decided to gift myself something symbolic: the Hasselblad X2D. It feels like the perfect way to mark the occasion.
However, I’d love your guidance in choosing my first lens. My primary interests would be capturing portraits (both torso and face), street photography, and, of course, photos of my dog-perhaps even the occasional selfie!
I’ve ordered the 90mm, but I’m wondering if the 38mm or even the 55mm might be a better choice for starting out. I’d greatly value your thoughts.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks so much for the video. I enjoyed the video and commentary immensely. Smart of Hasselblad to do this type of marketing. Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Sony don't have to market this way. People know the brands and can afford the cameras. It's a great way to call attention to their excellent cameras. Just hand them to outstanding photographers. The photographs do the rest. Sorry for the negative comments. They are unwarranted. Thanks for sharing your work.

Brilliant intro and you covered it off well. You have put the hard graft in for years and if a company wants to push its product and give you something for free. Take it. Besides not seen any GfX material from you might prompt Fuji to do the same. Cracking Vid.

I'm not the target market for this camera, as a avid hobbyist, but I appreciate the review of the camera. Truthfully I don't know it would fit in with what I like shoot. Nice that you mention that you might need to upgrade hard drives, computers when dealing with file size from such a camera.

The camera is interesting. How much post-process is in these shots? What does it produce SOOC?

I currently am an avid follower of your work particularly as I am a Fuji shooter and there is always something relatable and something to learn from. Whilst it was interesting to hear your view of the camera but did not find it informative and or relatable. Understanding what your primary target is moving forward is something that will be of interest particularly to me and possibly other Fuji shooters

My primary target is sharing my photography and the process behind it regardless if it's a Fuji, Hasselblad or an iPhone. The last thing I want is to be followed solely based on what brand camera I use

Awesome pics. Hasselblad does it job, it always did and the user segments are the same as they always were for hasselblad. Did you use some specific Lightroom presets for the Tokyo neon picts?
