after years of watching your videos, i'm finally going to japan in november! i am absolutely counting down the days and still loving your vids. i do miss jelly journeys though, those were always a treat to watch.
Really reminds me when I lived in Kōenji for a month in summer 2018. There was a wonderful Jiro-style tiny ramen shop that opens until 1AM called Ramen Dai, you gotta try it with Yasai Mashi-mashi.
Good fun, not just the show, the hole video. I just love Tokyo. Thanks again for taking us with you on a foto trip- it’s great to see the x100vi in action. Shows also nicely that you ain’t need full frame to get great shots. It’s more about the person behind the camera than the camera itself. Have a great weekend mate 😊🙏🏻
Having stayed at Koenji for 2 weeks back in April - when you initially described the cleanliness and quick glance of the landscape around you, I was like could Joe be talking about Koenji 😂. My personal experience being that it is a convenient base full of hidden gems tucked away a few stops away from the main cities like Shinjuku. I often see trendy people with huge instruments walking around everyday despite not seeing any music street/stores like the ones Ochanomizu. I believe that there are some sites that may be of photographic interests to you such as the nearby Look street that are full of vintage, rustic looking stores and bookstore. One of these pubs by the side near the station also seems to play host to eccentric/extravagantly looking patrons.
That's so nice to see you back to those photo vlog, that's how I've discovered you years ago (you made one quickly in Montreal). Koenji is definitely a nice place to visit. Beautiful photo and cinematography as always! :)
I don't go often but I like Koenji. It's like the louder version of Numabukuro (both places being 20-30 mins walk from Nakano, both places have a music scene and lots of small bars/pubs/food joints). May be worth checking Asagaya too, apparently another "arty" place. Also, as a portrait photographer, in the daytime the sheer amount of second hand clothes shops has been a great source of props and materials for shoots. I guess it's got lots going for it no matter your preferred genre of photography 😂
Ahh yeah, I like Asagaya too. The whole cluster of places around there is pretty great. Good point on the second hand market too! I saw a Hard-off in Koenji that seemed pretty well organised. If I lived there I’d probably be popping in most days to see what’s new 😅
Aloha Joe, Bro this is so timely. I’m going to Fukuoka in three days with my F100VI. I’m gonna finally try to shoot some video with it too. Mahalo for the inspiration 🤙🏽
Hey Joe. I'm a new subscriber and I really like your videos. I'm an amateur photograper that lives in South Korea. I know it's a lot of work, but is there any way to put the settings of the photos when you show them on the vlog. It would be very helpful. Thanks for the videos and keep up the great work.
Welcome to Japan! We would love for you to photograph Yamagata Prefecture the symbol of the Japanese countryside. You will see the original scenery of the Japanese countryside everywhere.
Stunning video as always! Great cinematography and photography! It's always fun to come along with you! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I love the colours in your images... do you mind sharing your starting recipe on your Fuji? Unfortunately I cannot use your presets working with Capture One and not LR! Thanks 🙌🏻
Hi Joe, great shots! I've been wondering how you achieve the sort of bloomy effect on/around the light sources in your photos, for instance at 2:31. In some videos a while ago, you mentioned using a Cinebloom filter, were you still using that or something similar during filming of this vlog? Or is it something you do in post. Very curious to know!
Loved it! I don’t know how you do it, when I was by myself in Japan I was too freaked out to walk in the small places scared I couldn’t communicate. My biggest regret is to have gone to too many chain restaurant with English menus to avoid dealing with the language barrier! You also say you used the X100VI for video? Is the stabilization good enough? I am still waiting for mine to be delivered to my camera shop… 5 months pre ordered its crazy 😂
If you have a Fuji system already, there’s the 23mmF2, although I’d actually recommend the 35mmF2. The quality is superior and I also prefer the focal length too
I enjoyed the Tokyo visit. I wonder why you have so many vertical shots? Hard to see them, were they on iPhone? Also, I think you spend a little too much time on camera, when a voice over would work better. Otherwise very nice.
I really wish he wouldn't do the aspect ratio change when he's talking to camera. I find it really jarring. Pulls me out of the video. Probably just me

Ahh, Teo! Good to see you again man! Thanks!
Hi Joe, I love your videos, every time I watch them I get an uncontrollable urge to go out and unwrap photos and you make me love Japan even more
Love to hear it! Thank you! I’m always hoping I can help people go out and shoot 🙏
That singer in the bar is fantastic.
Such a fun vibe! Had the whole bar fully engaged!
I can't wait to be back in Japan soon. I miss this kind of video. thank you
Missed these videos, and loved this one! Great photos and vibes as usual 🖤
I love a classic photo vlog! Been watching you since your photo vlog in Malaysia and I’ve stuck around ever since!
Ahh amazing, thank you! I’d love to return to Malaysia and explore more!
A favorite - three stops from where I used to live!
love a classic vlog!
Tokyo, my most favorite place for street photography! I will never get tired watching photographic journeys from this place! Awesome video

Cheers for the tip, I’ll check it out 👌
Your work is always great, and the pro docs you did were visually beautiful, and I'll always watch them. But this is you at your best self. Well done!
Love your Channel. Feel like I'm living vicariously through you. Mutely appreciated. Big fan here from Scotland.
Much appreciated, thank you! 🙌
Stunning! As usual, your Japan vlogs leave me feeling like my soul is being tugged towards Japan. One day, sir, one day! ❤
Hehe! I’ll be waiting for you 🫡
Great vid mate, glad your enjoying Japan.
Cheers Clive! Yes, thank you! Been a journey for sure, but glad to be back in the rhythm of things 🙏
The video editing of the band is fabulous ⭐ (1, 2, 3, 4!)
You’re living the dream !!!
Excellent video as always Joe!
Love your photo vlogs! More please.
I do enjoy that area

Always appreciative of your support, thank you! 🙏 Camera in hand, always.
Great photo vlog! Would love to see more of those.
Always surprises me that the subways stop around midnight in such major cities. I live in NYC where it runs all night.
Yeah it’s one of the only things that really bothers me in Japan. Always feel like just one more hour would cover most plans.
so clean and professional!
Thank you 🙏🏽
Hope you will be successful more 🙌🏽🙌🏽

I need to share more from Japan! Feeling a good rhythm coming for the rest of the year 🙌

Amazing beautiful TOKYO JAPAN JP 🌸🌸🇯🇵🇯🇵
Aloha Joe,
Bro this is so timely. I’m going to Fukuoka in three days with my F100VI.
I’m gonna finally try to shoot some video with it too.
Mahalo for the inspiration 🤙🏽
Ahh nice! I still haven’t been to Fukuoka. It’s one of the only major cities in Japan I’ve still not checked off. Someday! Enjoy your trip!
@@joeallam you will love it because it’s all of what I love about Osaka and Kyoto but not crowded.
Which mist filter are you using on X100VI ?

Great video, Koenji is one of the areas I want to visit in October.
It’s a great spot, for sure! Likewise October is a great month to visit Japan

Ding...Dong...Hello! It's your presets calling. Set me up...Set me up and I'll never stop...never stop...never stop. Set me up! (Thank you Keith)
Lets goooooo!

That’s correct; yep! Using the Cinebloom 5% for pretty much all photos and videos over the last couple years 🫡
@@joeallam thank you so much!

What camera are you using for your b roll?
and your A-roll
10:10 @BadFriends Bobby Lees Japanese Twin brother!! 😂
1:43 McDonald's
wanna go for photowalk with you someday!
I still cannot find a X100VI in Japan...
Can somebody recommend an alternative lens equivalent to a X100VI's lens?
If you have a Fuji system already, there’s the 23mmF2, although I’d actually recommend the 35mmF2. The quality is superior and I also prefer the focal length too
Hi Joe, we think you've been busy doing professional work. How about a 'life update' video ?
Go to 吉祥寺 or come to 駒沢

Gas or electric?
@@joeallam yes
I enjoyed that Joe, I like it dirty too
Heh heh. Steady on 😏

Need a collab with @BokehTherapy 🎉
Haven’t come across the channel before, but I’ll take a look! Thanks for the recommendation! Likewise, always good to see you in the comments 🙏
