The first words in the song sets the story when he says “He said I’ll love you ‘til I die”. Everything after that points out that he died still loving the woman who left him. George Jones has an enormous catalog of songs, and it was a great loss for country music when he died.
Indeed it was.
Kind of weird seeing them smiling for a person that died. They didn't catch the theme of the song, but a lot of reactors don't either.
Honestly I have watched about 5 of their reactions and they seem to miss a lot of meanings. They talk over key parts of the lyrics and don't get the song. It's like they are only hearing the music, which is only half of a song. I hope they put more effort into it in the future I would like to keep following them, but there is little substance here so far as I can see.
When it comes to most songs, and especially those with a twist, I’m not a big fan of reacting to live performances. There are too many visual distractions for some people, and in this particular case George’s voice is not as clear and understandable as it once was. Even in the very first line here, you can barely hear the end of the sentence when he says the word “die,” and that is a really important part of the song. In fact, that sentence really sets up the entire song.

I think they aren't country music fans, and that's ok. Some songs, like this one, take your full attention to comprehend. George knew how to deliver a song but thought this one was way too sad to do well. He was mistaken. This was a huge hit for him.

I find it weird, or maybe even frightening that the vast majority of adults don't understand this song, but yet my 12-year-old son understood it immediately. As soon as he sang "soon they'll carry him away," my son said, "Oh, he died!" but these two looked completely confused, just like many other adults who can't comprehend the song.
Being from the South, you guys should have understood the lyrics but I don't think you did. The reason he stopped loving her was because he died. (They laid a wreath upon his door) A mostly Southern thing.

If you're gonna do Classic Country, it's very important to listen to the words of the song. Stop & back up the video if you're gonna talk. Country music is all about the story. If you're not listening, you will miss what the song is about.
Theses artist didn't need loud music, fireworks, a light show or dancing around the stage half dressed. They kept our attention by singing great songs.
