If you want a Rolex Daytona for example it would set you back 30 grand or more. While obviously everyone would prefer to have the real thing, a 500 dollar convincing replica is the next best option.You buy a Rolex not just as an investment but as a status symbol and Nobody at the bar or the club or at your office is going to know the difference between the replica and the real thing. To anyone else your 500 dollar watch is 30 grand. If you like the style and you want something flashy but don't have the money, a clone is your only option.
I have replica Daytona Ice Blue.. Still works perfectly fine, I have had it for a couple of years now and I have no regrets buying it. When people ask me if it’s real. I’m honest about it and say it’s a replica, end of the day .. It’s a watch .. most important thing about a watch is the time. As long as the time works accurately and you like the design which for me was the Daytona Ice Blue and like how it looks on your wrist, I personally think that’s all that truly matters. I just got into watches and bought myself an Invicta Pro Diver, I liked. I wont buy a fake Rolex but I liked the design, so the interior is made with a seiko movement and for my first automatic watch I don't think I did a bad choice.
I know it's not the message of the video but it's soo tempting to buy fakes. 99% of people can't tell plus you don't have to spend 10k plus...or deal with rolex waiting lists

If you can't really tell the difference unless it's under a microscope and the quality is almost identical..£500 vs £15000...
Top tip: look at the balance and escapement in the movement. Even the best clones still use a standard swiss lever escapement. In the case of a Rolex, look for weights on the balance wheel and the lack of regulator level on the balance. In Omega's case, the co-axial movements will also have weight on the wheel itself and lack a regulator lever, but also look for a second escapement wheel and a pallet fork with 3 prongs instead of two. This is the only way to be absolutely sure the watch is real, particularly if you do not have a genuine model to directly compare. All of the other tips, while all true, will be very difficult to ascertain on a high end enough replica, and will ultimately lead to an informed guess, rather than a definitive answer. If the seller won't let you inspect the movement on a used or grey market watch, that is already a massive red flag.

Not a vintage Rolex but maybe even an Omega of equivalent quality, and that watch will probably just increase in value… I am pretty sure that 99% of everyone that buy a fake Rolex will end of getting disappointed one way or another.

FYI, currently globally 4 in 5 Rolexes are fake. So yes a fake it'll be and no one is able to tell. With the current decline you probably find that you are lucky if you even get 70% of the purchase price after 5 years. My opinion to this. The last 3 years I was saving money for an Explorer I or maybe a decent DJ with fluted bezel. While saving money I found the reddit you all know. Then my idea was to buy a gen and the same one as a rep (in case I get robbed). Now I have the money for both. At 50 seconds in look at where the bracelet meets the case. Rep people always say that issue has been fixed but it’s always perfect on a real Rolex and fakes usually have an enormous gap.
just be practical. Buy Seiko mods with Seiko on the dial for the fraction of the price and put rest of your savings into SP 500 and use your phone to tell time if movement is lagging. 😂😂😂😅😅😅
While you're being practical, make sure you buy the cheapest android phone they offer (iPhones are too expensive), and keep it until they stop supporting it. Buy only the lowest tier data plan that allows you to check stocks. Make sure you buy the cheapest 20 year old Honda Civic on craigslist, or better yet, take public transit. Cancel any and all entertainment subscriptions you have, because you should be using anytime not working or sleeping to hustle some side gigs, or exercise. Also, ditch the Seiko plan, and just buy a ten dollar Casio F91-W. Then, take all that money you saved, and diversify a few investments, focusing on the SP 500 and high yield CDs... ...Then, after you have gloriously maximized your ROI on the money you earned, go out with a friend, to the cheapest restaurant you can possibly find, during an early bird special, and watch them fall asleep while you talk about how smart you are with money, and then realize you literally have nothing else to talk about because you don't do anything fun ;)
I'm sorry and know I am going to get flamed for this. I was willed an authentic Daytona but, with all that is going on, there is NO way I am wearing it in public. I know that that defeats the whole joy of wearing a nice watch. Hence, I bought a clone. That way, if something happens oh well. No watch is worth having a confrontation over. And just to be clear, in the US, owning a replica watch is not illegal. Selling one is, but not owning one.
i was tempted to buy a fake, most people can't tell and no one is likely to ask for your watch to inspect. if you have enough money to buy genuine then who would think your watch was fake? but the thing is i would, i would fking know! so i bought mine from watchfinder so i could as much as possible, be sure it was genuine. i'd tried for years to buy from an AD but man they're a nightmare, i'll never even try and buy from an rolex AD, i just don' thave the patience. so i'm then stuck buying second hand and that's a nightmare of very good fakes which i think i could likely spot now but i would never be 100% totally sure i'd spotted correctly so for me best to buy from somewhere like watchfinder
The easiest way to tell, is to use a timegrapher to test the accuracy and health of the movement, without even opening the case back. Now, the most frightening part is that you would be SHOCKED at how good these replicas are! For the price that you pay for a real one, you got to ask yourself a question: Am I getting a 25 times better watch?...... I don't think so.

A $500 Seiko is much more reliable than a $500 fake. The fakes are literally just polished turds. They’re unreliable cheap watches that have been nicely finished.

As someone who spent over a decade as a typesetter, it’s not helpful that Rolex typesetters are terrible at kerning! The inter-character spacing is all over the place. Also, if you are going to only sell watches to the grey market to falsely inflate perceived values, then you deserve every super clone that is bought after the terrible customer service provided.

Great video. I really do not get fakes. That said, a sadly no longer with us friend of mine, gave me a superfake Montblanc. I have tasked myself with trying to find a genuine watch any tips? I do not know the model it has three buttons an internal bezel adgusted from a winder on the top left. Black face with three smaller dials.the date is one of these dials I have tried to find an archive site or back catalogue. No luck so far.
Buy from an AD at a fair price. The crown etching on the glass, now looks better on most fakes and they use the harder, more scratch resistant, industry standard steel.😂

It does, the price you pay for an expensive watch is in the details, specially the movement but also everything else. Anyone that has actually used a fake watch as a daily watch for a year or two can confirm that they often deteriorate considerably, despite what they look like brand new.

Personally the biggest reasons for me is that I feel disappointment when I look at any fake watch, plus the economic loss that comes with it at the very good fakes will cost a lot of money and you will never get even close to what you paid back when you sell. There are literally millions of second watches for sale in the region of $200-1000, many VERY attractive in terms of both quality and appearance, why on earth pay that kind of money for something which is fake??

This comparison with Porsche is so incredible because its true. I was with couple of my friends few days ago on poker night and 3 of them had rolexes and one had tudor and omega. All of them are genuine. I am the poorest one from the squad but not that poor that i coudlnt afford a sub if i really wanted to. I was wearing a 100usd submariner replica but bit the worst one. They coudlnt say it was a fake or anything. Incredible, i can just imagine how higher end replicas would look even better.

FYI, currently globally 4 in 5 Rolexes are fake. So yes a fake it'll be and no one is able to tell. By the way a Rolex 5 year service will cost you more than a super clone, which I'll happily service myself. So if you are in it for the money, this is way more cost effective. With the current decline you probably find that you are lucky if you even get 70% of the purchase price after 5 years. So I dare to say that buying a clone lower end tier Rolex will be more profitable.

Then my idea was to buy a gen and the same one as a rep (in case I get robbed). Now I have the money for both. just be practical. Buy Seiko mods with Seiko on the dial for the fraction of the price and put rest of your savings into SP 500 and use your phone to tell time if movement is lagging. 😂😂😂😅😅😅
While you're being practical, make sure you buy the cheapest android phone they offer (iPhones are too expensive), and keep it until they stop supporting it. Buy only the lowest tier data plan that allows you to check stocks. Make sure you buy the cheapest 20 year old Honda Civic on craigslist, or better yet, take public transit. Cancel any and all entertainment subscriptions you have, because you should be using anytime not working or sleeping to hustle some side gigs, or exercise. Also, ditch the Seiko plan, and just buy a ten dollar Casio F91-W. Then, take all that money you saved, and diversify a few investments, focusing on the SP 500 and high yield CDs...
...Then, after you have gloriously maximized your ROI on the money you earned, go out with a friend, to the cheapest restaurant you can possibly find, during an early bird special, and watch them fall asleep while you talk about how smart you are with money, and then realize you literally have nothing else to talk about because you don't do anything fun ;)
I'm sorry and know I am going to get flamed for this. I was willed an authentic Daytona but, with all that is going on, there is NO way I am wearing it in public. I know that that defeats the whole joy of wearing a nice watch. Hence, I bought a clone. That way, if something happens oh well. No watch is worth having a confrontation over. And just to be clear, in the US, owning a replica watch is not illegal. Selling one is, but not owning one.

i was tempted to buy a fake, most people can't tell and no one is likely to ask for your watch to inspect. if you have enough money to buy genuine then who would think your watch was fake? but the thing is i would, i would fking know! so i bought mine from watchfinder so i could as much as possible, be sure it was genuine. i'd tried for years to buy from an AD but man they're a nightmare, i'll never even try and buy from an rolex AD, i just don' thave the patience. so i'm then stuck buying second hand and that's a nightmare of very good fakes which i think i could likely spot now but i would never be 100% totally sure i'd spotted correctly so for me best to buy from somewhere like watchfinder

The easiest way to tell, is to use a timegrapher to test the accuracy and health of the movement, without even opening the case back. Now, the most frightening part is that you would be SHOCKED at how good these replicas are! For the price that you pay for a real one, you got to ask yourself a question: Am I getting a 25 times better watch?...... I don't think so.

As someone who spent over a decade as a typesetter, it’s not helpful that Rolex typesetters are terrible at kerning! The inter-character spacing is all over the place.

Buy from an AD at a fair price. The crown etching on the glass, now looks better on most fakes and they use the harder, more scratch resistant, industry standard steel.😂

It does, the price you pay for an expensive watch is in the details, specially the movement but also everything else. Anyone that has actually used a fake watch as a daily watch for a year or two can confirm that they often deteriorate considerably, despite what they look like brand new.
Great idea, your replica will lose you money and could land you in jail if you're not disclosing it when trying to sell, while the real Rolex could potentially increase in value, making you money instead. Big brain move, but hey, whatever makes you feel more important. lol

Personally the biggest reasons for me is that I feel disappointment when I look at any fake watch, plus the economic loss that comes with it at the very good fakes will cost a lot of money and you will never get even close to what you paid back when you sell. There are literally millions of second watches for sale in the region of $200-1000, many VERY attractive in terms of both quality and appearance, why on earth pay that kind of money for something which is fake??

You know, If they just stopped pretending to make Rolex watches and made decent, own-brand watches, they'd probably make pretty good money. Make some decent designs, sell them at cost + 25% and a lot of people would get those. Not everyone can afford even used Rolexes.
I think it's hilarious we still think it's worth spending 10k on a watch that can be copied so well you need to go to macro to see a difference. I've owned a Rolex and have multiple Tudor's and Omega's so still buy into the BS, and sucked in by the ad's, but I think we're being bummed up the rear. This comparison with Porsche is so incredible because its true. I was with couple of my friends few days ago on poker night and 3 of them had rolexes and one had tudor and omega. All of them are genuine. I am the poorest one from the squad but not that poor that i coudlnt afford a sub if i really wanted to. I was wearing a 100usd submariner replica but bit the worst one. They coudlnt say it was a fake or anything. Incredible, i can just imagine how higher end replicas would look even better.
