- Join us as we take a closer look at the El Jadida trousers by the enigmatic Moroccan brand, Casatlantic. Inspired by explorers, seamen, and 1960s naval fashion, the El Jadida is a narrow-fit chino with a high rise and zip fly, made from a 10.3 oz cotton twill fabric. We'll discuss the details of these trousers, including the materials, construction, fit, and cost, as well as the brand's interesting history and the other trouser options they offer.

I love your videos! Keep going, your channel is going to grow into something much bigger, I'm sure.
I would be interested in a video about your Safi linen pants.
Thank you for saying so. That's incredibly kind! I hope so, if people get something from the content on happy!
Ah yes! It's almost summer so I will 100% get onto that for you!
cool video! Is this same color of khaki on the website at the moment? Your pair looks quite different although could just be lighting?
Yes they are! The beige is a lot lighter, these a lot darker and more browny gold hue... Hope that helps? What's your thinking?
@@jessupsays i like them. The ones on the website look like they have been washed more? Do these come garment washed or are they a bit shiny when new?
Another pair you could try is Buzz Rickson's Original Spec chinos. Good price and quality. Unfortunately for me, didn't really fit.
@@domjohns7562 Hmm interesting, i can see what you mean. They do say "Our trousers have been pre-washed to avoid further shrinkage." on their site, and I can confirm they didn't arrive shiny like raw chino. But with all cottons they benefit from wear and age, so maybe that's what they did for the product shots.
I'll have to try a pair on locally! Always hear good things about Buzz. Apprecaited.
You could also try brycelands 1945 army chino?
They were on the short list! As well as the Armoury chinos. Both look very similar
Buzz rickson chinos are the best chinos I have come across. They are tough as iron and very much of the old school. Proper heavy drill fabric
I've seen them online, but not in person! Next time I'm looking I will get a pair and check them out!
@@jessupsays They are one of the cheaper reproduction brands coming out of Japan, I was generally surprised by the price when i tried them on
Sounds like its good value too . Appreciate the recommendation!
Someone online mentioned these fell apart after a few months. From what I can tell, they appear really well made. How have yours held up?
Really? You got a link? Mine definitely have not fallen apart, they're well made. I wear my Safi more but they're holding up really well. I would be surprised as if they fell apart.
@@jessupsays no one else really said it. So I feel like it’s a one off, or maybe wrong. People on Instagram seem to love them and you and permanent style spoke highly of them.
I like them and the price. I just don’t know if I can rock that high of a waist. I normally have medium rise straight leg.
But I think the el jadid in khaki and one of the pleated in navy would be a great combo. Do you like the safi?
EMBRACE THE HIGH RISE. Man its a new life, but its a better life. At least give it a go! Hahahaha.
Re Casa. Value for money is really really good. As I said, they're the best value I've found around. Still feel that way. I actually like my Safi more than these (I like my Informale chinos best for chinos), but those Safi are my Holiday trouser. Tend to wear them any time its hot and I want to look somewhat dressed up. The cotton/ Linen is great because it doesnt crinkle and is comfy as. Would recommend.
@@jessupsays I may have to! With a chambray shirt tucked in and a good belt, they look sharp!
How casual do you think you can go with them, or Informale? I saw a photo of Orslow Army chinos with engineer boots and a t shirt and it was a cool look for something other than jeans. I feel like the El Jadidas could do it?
The safis look like great trousers for dressing it up a bit though!
Uniqlo JW Anderson Wide-fit Chino has roughly the same amount of taper to my eye compared to this Chino. It is 100% cotton, unlike Uniqlo's regular slim-fit offering. I suspect the fabric may not be as nice but I don't own a Casatlantic so you try and let me know :))
Appreciate the comment! I've tried them on a while ago, but I can't remember what I thought about them. I think theyd be much better than their standard offering though!
@@jessupsays I was waiting for a sale but Uniqlo is running low on the stock so I was forced to run and get it today :)) Since we're talking about chino, I've been to Informale shop in Melbourne and tried their chino. As a guy with large glute relative to waist (my tailor told me I have a bum of size 34 while my waist is 32), I found that Informale's chino is really small in the bum if I pick the correct waist for myself, while Uniqlo JW Anderson's one is a perfect everywhere. How do you feel about El Jadida's fit in the bum relative to Informale's?
@barinyasere3418 interesting 🤔 I have a similar issue and found their chinos work for me. When I'm home tomorrow I will try them on next to each other and see for you. Shoot me a message on IG? I can share photos etc
